A large party of 8 of us dined on a busy Saturday night, the service was perfect, and the food even better. I absolutely recommend the Fishcake starter + Halibut main, phenomenal. The artisan bread and butter were fantastic with a range of breads to try. Other guests with me loved the Wellington and we had a lot of steak which was cooked to perfection, to exactly the rarity ordered. I love the family style veg + chips that accompany the main dishes, all of the servers and hosts were fantastically attentive and although this was my first time, it will certainly not be my last as we’ll be with you again soon. Thank you so much!

Without doubt this is the best traditional greasy spoon I've found in Hitchin - a really good generous portion of cooked to order breakfast for just £3.50, superb value.

We had our office Christmas party at the Glasshouse and it was fab! Danni was incredible and helped to make the evening a huge success. Service was terrific, food was great a real 10 out of 10 experience. Thank you to Danni and the rest of the team for making the night so enjoyable.

So decided to stay here as meeting friends for the evening and neither my wife nor I wanted to drive and have a few drinks. I accept its an old building and times are tough so could deal with the tired decor, paint peeling etc. Even the rubbish left behind the tea and coffee stand left by the cleaner. However I always iron my clothes at a hotel whilst I'm there. Ok, iron was in room but not a steam iron. No good if you have creased shirt and trainers without steam. Went to reception but they couldn't provide a steam iron. Instead they gave me a hand steamer. Ok, better than nothing so plugged it in and it didn't even work. Decided to try the none steam iron but once hot it started marking my nice white shirt as the plate had some horrible stuff stuck to it. Ended up having to drive to argos to pick up a steam iron so I could go out for the evening. Never have I ever not had a room in a hotel without a steam iron. Thought reception could at least find me one. I know this may seem trivial. But when you have planned to go out and have to go and purchase an iron which should be provided then it makes the whole experience a poor and stressful one.

Our friend who is a disabled pensioner and regular customer had a hospital appointment and was taken by a hospital driver arrived back 25 minutes before opening. She had lunch arranged with friends the driver knocked and the landlord told him not opening for 25 minutes. Ended up with an eighty plus disabled pensioner waiting outside in this weather for that time. You could have at least let the lady have a seat inside you did not have to serve her. You should be ashamed of yourself and feel totally embarrassed. I hope that people read about your lack of hospitality, when we come down to visit you have lost our custom

This corner cafe near the market changed hands, struggled, shut, and is now operating as a Caribbean restaurant and takeaway. If you're after an old-fashioned fry-up in Hitchin there are plenty of options, both basic and hipster, but you won't find it here any more.

I used this cafe/restaurant many years ago and then it was fine, a good clean establishment that produced good food. I have been there twice recently, the first time a few weeks ago where I was not so impressed but decided to give it another go today. I went in there around 11-11:30am, I think there were two other customers in there. We sat down and a young lad came over to take the order, he wrote down what we told him and when he came back with the food and drinks the order was not quite what I had ordered, I ordered omelette with salad, no chips. The omelette came with salad and chips, I asked for the chips to be removed and more salad was put on the plate instead. The omelette was quite disgusting, it was greasy and I could taste the grease in my mouth for hours afterwards. I orderd two sparkling waters, they were served up in bottles with straws, now I am a man of older years and I prefer to drink from a glass, I asked the young lad for glasses and when he came back with them they were filthy, so bad to the point where I did not drink the water in the cafe but took it home in the bottle. I went up to the till to pay and the young lady on the till told me the cost, I gave her three ten pound notes for a bill of £25.75p, she had no change in the till and she was unable to work out how much change to give me back so I took five pound coins from my pockt, told her to give me one of the ten pound notes back and I told her how much change she had to give me, she still got that wrong and gave me 40p more than she should. All in all this was not a good experience and if the owner of this establishment wants to stay in business they need to step up their act very quickly or the will be the next business in Hitchin to go bust.

Just had a great afternoon tea with family. Lovely staff, so helpful and easy. The sandwich and cake selection was perfect and as much tea as we wanted. Great location right next to the old part of Hitchin.
