FryDays Chip Shop in North Hertfordshire

This corner cafe near the market changed hands, struggled, shut, and is now operating as a Caribbean restaurant and takeaway. If you're after an old-fashioned fry-up in Hitchin there are plenty of options, both basic and hipster, but you won't find it here any more.

This cafe used to be a great place to have a cuppa and a meal. It has now changed hands and it is just awful. We decided to give it a try as thought it cannot be hard to cook sausages,egg and chips. Well how wrong were we! The tea was bought in little pots one for each of us.The tea was lukewarm. Then the sausage egg and chips was put in front of us and to be honest I felt like throwing up there and then. The chips were greasy and floppy and some had not been cooked long enough the sausage was horrible and the egg was cremated. The owner came and asked us if everything was okay and we both told him no as it was inedible. He was a very nice man and said what was wrong and we said everything||| He was very apologetic and said he needs to get things right when we come back again but we will not stepping a foot inside that cafe from now onwards. He needs to hire a proper cook as he will be out of business as I am sure other people have found it the same as us. What a shame as now we have to find somewhere else to eat. It is now called Majestic 5 but there is nothing Majestic about it at all One last thing I will say it that he did not charge us for the meal or the tea

Family went in for breakfast. A staff member came up and asked what we wanted. I said we haven't even got a menu. We waited 15 mins for a menu and the drinks we ordered. After another 10 minutes the staff member who was dirtily dressed, greasy hair and sniffing. We ordered 2 all day breakfasts. A bacon bap and a portion of chips. The 2 breakfasts came. 1 without the bacon. The beans were stone cold. The bacon greasy and tasted horrible the mushrooms deep fried and full of oil. I couldn't eat mine so took it back. The chips finally came half cooked and again bacon in bap deep fried. The so called chef came over omg we got up offered to pay for the drinks and left the food. I told the chef to change his staff and learn to cook. The place should be closed down. After waiting nearly an hour for that service is disgusting

Excellent as normal had breakfast with my brothers, nothing too much trouble get whatever you want at a good price. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice and clean.

My wife and I recently had lunch here. The premises are clean and the staff friendly. Plenty tables and seating. Good choice of meals (my wife is vegetarian). Will definitely return.

Everything you would want from a "Chippie". Good Food, Cleanliness and good service. Toilets spotless as well.

Vamos a Hitchin Mercado más Martes y luego de repente a tener algo para comer en la cafetería. Es muy razonable y la comida muy sabrosa comida recién cocinada. La cafetería está limpio y hemos estado viniendo aquí durante un número de años ahora y lo seguirá haciendo.

Raj serves great fish n chp meals at reasnable prices. Plenty of seating and good clean surfaces. Good food and service.

right on the market where I go several times a week. I can therefore indulge myself with my favourite,their excellent cod roe

Tuve el pescado y patatas fritas. Era fresco y la pasta cocinada agradable y raro con los peces. El personal me hizo sentir bienvenido y era muy amable. El precio era muy bueno para la comida. Una pequeñísima preocupación ... Por favor puede poner algo suave música ligera ya que era muy tranquila y se podía oír un alfiler caer. Aparte de eso, fue una gran experiencia gastronómica.

Hemos estado aquí varias veces y el pescado y patatas fritas son siempre perfectamente preparado. Muy bonito, bacalao y el bateador flakely crujientes. El personal es muy amable y hospitalario, el lugar es limpio (puntaje 5/5 a la higiene de los alimentos). Es una pena que no parecía estar abierto por las noches.
