Had a family occasion here on Saturday night, we had a table of eight people and I can honestly say everything from the food and drinks to the atmosphere and service was perfect! Old charm, helpful staff, great place for family meal. 12 of us gathered for an 80th birthday celebration. Amy was really helpful during the booking. Great serving staff - I think it was Brooke, Laura and Alesha. Table decorations were done well and the the singing of happy birthday was excellent! Thanks.

Always enjoyed a meal here but being a small eater have always had a kids meal but was told not available to me which ok fair enough I’m not under 12 😀. I was offered a small portion meal but only given 3 options and not one I really wanted then when served it was called out as a kids meal anyway so unsure why it was a problem in the first place. My desert then was forgotten and arrived after the group had all finished theirs

Went there for Sunday lunch and booked and told they give time slots and ours was 12 till 2pm. Arrived at 12.05. We bought drinks and ordered food at the bar by 12 .25. then waited until 1.10 for the food to be served. Only one person bringing the food out so by the time he had bought out 6 meals and 2 portions of cauliflower cheese it was getting on for 1.25. Ate our food and ordered ice cream for my grandson and as he was eating eat told that they needed the table so rushed out. The food was good the person serving was good but if you are going to give time slots make sure you can get the food out quickly. I assume this is done to get more people in. if so get more staff to get the food out. Also you order from the bar which saves staff and if there are people at the bar ordering drinks and food this takes time. As I said the food was good but not sure I want to go back and be in a hurry all the time

Have been before and have a brilliant meal but today left very underwhelmed the soup was watery like instant powdered the other two starters were reasonable, hears the problem burger burnt undercooked and tasted disgusting, deb never complains about his food. Cajun chicken was like a frisbee overcooked couldn’t wait to leave the restroom. One meal was spot on the stake pie and veg, my stake was cooked fine chips were frozen rubbish along with the bullet peas Stilton sauce with gloopy trash couldn’t believe what we had been served never waiting around for sweets. We couldn’t wait to get out of the restaurant. Didn’t leave a complaint because we accept you. Get bad meals now and again such a shame with a restaurant we loved.

Beautiful pub on any day! The staff were super friendly, the place is very cute and quaint. Great selection of drinks. We didn't eat here, but I definitely would after my first visit.

Last minute work lunch on a Friday, payday too! However they managed to accommodate 10 of us and once again I never have a bad visit here. In such a lovely location and the gardens are so brilliant to sit and have food and drinks out in. The decor has been done so well, cushions for the benches and heaters for the colder months makes it all inviting. Great choice on the food menu and food came out at a good time for a large group. It does get busy though and parking can be a challenge, although there is an overflow car park across the road if needed so it wasn’t an issue!

Fantastic Traditional Pub. Wonderfully welcoming staff and a great atmosphere hence it’s always busy! Food is usually good too. The Landlady is extremely creative and innovative with the seasonal entertainment and decor. Most are longterm staff and they can never do enough for you. Always cheerful and sociable making you feel very comfortable. Fantastic 2 for 1 meals on certain evenings Burger night Pie night Curry night. Great money saving evenings for 2 or save one of the meals to take away for the next day! Friendliest pub around. Great value for money and fantastic atmosphere!

This was our first visit to the Waggon and Horses and we will definitely be returning! We had a large party of 7 to accommodate and the team were more than helpful when we booked tables for lunch. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, with a gorgeous outdoor seating area if you prefer open air dining. The menu was extensive and every meal we ordered was beautifully presented and arrived together for the whole table. The food was delicious and we could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you to the team for such a lovely family lunch. We will certainly return again soon.

Prices increased since last visit.

Popped in during a weekday for dinner and have a lovely meal. The menu had a good variety of different meals available and they had several ‘specials of the day’ to choose from. The staff (Molly, Brooke and Dylan) were very helpful, friendly and efficient with all the orders for food and drink.

Great evening with a number of work colleagues We use this pub every 3/4 months and have been for a number of years - allways good Tina was great tonight and somehow managed to conjure up some syrup pudding albeit it was off the menu - that’s service

I came in tonight for a drink after work at another pub and my experience was so lovely! Cath and Lauren were so lovely and bubbly and inviting you'd think I'd been a regular for years! Everything was so tidy and clean and organised but it still had that great, cozy, local pub experience so, even after a long day at work at another pub, I really got that wind-down I was looking for. 10/10 would definitely visit again!

Always amazing but bad day yesterday for Sunday lunch. The two reserved roast lamb were beef with slice of lamb on top. No mint sauce available. Yorkshire puds very crispy. Custard in jug hadn't been heated. No ice cream for children. Disappointing day but hopefully a one off. Will go again.

Lovely pub with a large outside garden with memorable views in historic Graveley. We were a group of 6 with 2 elderly people who struggle to walk. Staff were great and very accommodating. We had reserved a table inside as the oldies couldn't manage the steps outside. We were warned food would take 30 mins to prepare, and that was OK for us, but had we arrived later than 12:30 maybe the wait would have been too long. When the food arrived it was a tad disappointing. Cooked veg (carrots) were overdone, quiche portion was about half what we were expecting, and its side salad uninteresting. Liver & bacon nothing special, but baked potato was good as was the veg lasagne and whitefish fried starter (chosen and served as a main). Food server was attentive but not intrusive (they were busy and worked hard).

I have visited many times before, and to be honest this was the first time I have had such an awful meal, I ordered the Hunters Chicken which comes with chunky chips, Coleslaw and a salad garnish, the chips were under cooked and soggy the Coleslaw tasted old and the chicken was floating in a watery liquid the whole meal was revolting, I am sorry to leave a bad review but I feel the standards have definitely slipped

Popped in on the off chance of getting a table on our way back from the Fruit Farm .The staff were very friendly and accommodating given how busy they were . We were warned there was a little wait for food , which wasn’t long at all and when it arrived the food was absolutely delicious, the portion size was very generous and beautifully fresh and well presented ! Cost was very surprising too , very reasonably priced which makes a refreshing change . The place also felt very cosy and welcoming , would definitely recommend! 👍

Booked on quiz night which we know is busy but despite lots of really good ‘pub grub’ meals in the past , it was sub standard this time I’m afraid . The steak and kidney pie was visibly burnt (black pastry!) and sirloin steak undercooked. Yes , it could have been sent back but then you have the issue of meals coming out at different times. Also , the new menu appears to have increased prices which is understood , but the food should be cooked to order and not burnt! We’ll return in the hope this was a ‘one off’.

I could not fault this pub! The welcoming space and decor gives the pub a lovely family friendly feel that is definitely matched inside by the lovely staff. The service is second to none, with the bar staff and managers taking the time and care to help whereever they can. Service is always with a smile and the food is great. This pub has become our Wednesday local after choir practise and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, straight from the get go they were so accommodating and friendly as if we had been going there for years The bar staff; especially Katie and Ben are such lovely people, remember people's orders and always listening to our crazy stories of the week. Would definitely recommend to anyone that wants a locally small family run pub but that still offers the high end top quality of somewhere that is a massive chain Amazing guys - don't change

I took my mum here yesterday for her birthday. We love a Sunday roast and they do the best roast around, by far! We are always disappointed when we go anywhere else! We got the table by the fire and food was amazing as always! They even brought out dessert with a candle, for mum ☺️ Thank you!

When booking a table in the resturant I would prefer to be able to order at the table rather than having to go to the bar.

The welcome by Amy & Dean and all the customer focused team is first Class. The genuine welcome and attentive service from Bobbie, Brook, Molly, Katie, Lisa, Michelle, Ben and Lauren deliver a “proper” free house welcome. The selection of quality beers on tap, a menu that delivers a culinary “wow” is consistently delivered with excellence. The regulars that have become friends epitomise the atmosphere of a genuine atmosphere. The place is a hidden gem.

The waggon & horses is definitely worth the visit, good atmosphere, lovely people and an all round great pub. Top beers, Prices are great, foods even better. With there deals on Monday burger night, curry night on Tuesday ( prawn red Thai curry one is the best), fish and chips Wednesday and pie and pud on Friday. Couldn’t recommend enough.

I frequently use the waggon and horses for a lovely pub meal out, however there deals are so worth it ! Tonight we had the curry’s and I must say the RedThai prawn was the best one yet ! £11.95 for two curry’s, rice and naan bread, what a bargain and tasty too ! Very happy and will definitely be coming back.

First time visiting the pub and I can say it was a brilliant experience. The atmosphere is really lovely, food is just AMAZING and the staff super friendly and polite. Overall, it was a great evening and I will definitely go back soon.

My friends and I meet once a month here for Sunday lunch, ( have been for at least 10 years). Cosy atmosphere and a lovely fire in the colder months. In the summer live music on the terrace over looking a huge pond. Food delicious all year year. We try and sneak in a mid week in the summer too for a leisurely catch up and a light lunch. Everything on the menu is fantastic. Served by welcoming atmosphere and fantastic staff.

The Waggon and Horses hosted the Graveley Cricket Club annual awards evening, putting on a superb event. The food, service and organisation were excellent. We would highly recommend The Waggon for food, drinks and events, a great pub!

First time here. Didn't dissapoint. Food lovely and fairly priced. Old style, old achool pub. Roaring fire. Great atmosphere. My parents and teens loved it too. Great menu. Husbamd loved beer choice as they have Beavertown.

Best pub in Hitchin ... A must go for a very friendly pub visit, fabulous staff great beer and really great food in the beautiful village of Graveley. They even offer takeaways and loved their new buffalo wings on the menu!

Past meals on normal menu are usually great Been for Xmas Dinner 2023. It was passable nothing special. No christmas music . Very salty gravy. Over top lemon flavour cheesecake. And 3 tiny bits of toast to go with a lump of pate. Was also a bit disappointed as we had to leave our meal to get another drink as waitress asked us to go to bar to get another drink rather than her bring one. However other people had waitress bring extra drinks to table. It really didn't feel worth £35 a head. Shame as usual menu is good

Had a wonderful meet up with our old neighbours who had moved to Devon. Food and service good as always, pies especially tasty. Could do with a little more room between tables but always full. Probably be even more difficult to get a late booking now after this review!
