We had our office Christmas party at the Glasshouse and it was fab! Danni was incredible and helped to make the evening a huge success. Service was terrific, food was great a real 10 out of 10 experience. Thank you to Danni and the rest of the team for making the night so enjoyable.

The restaurant only had 1 other table waiting for food. it took 45 minutes for nachos to be bought out, staff was apologetic, but 45 minutes for nachos is a joke! The mains came out, all had burgers, all over cooked and rock hard, same as the bacon in 2 of them. chips also over cooked, rock hard. First time in there to eat since its changed name, wont be going back. Really disappointing.

Absolutely awful. After travelling one and a half hours to get here (halfway point for our group) to say it was a let down is an understatement. The food was awful, one persons food didn’t come out until everyone else had actually finished and yet they’d served the same meal to another table - why not sort one table at a time if organisation is that much of an issue. Side orders never arrived and at this point we said forget the pudding if we ever want to be home before midnight. The passionfruit martini I had was watered down and vile. No apologies when we complained, no attempt to rectify the situation. I would have thought having preordered and being the only table, bar one table of two people next to us, ordering food in the entire establishment it would be a breeze but apparently 2 starters and 8 main courses is too much to handle for this place. Save your money and avoid.

Check recent reviews before making the mistake of booking at this establishment. I was dubious as to how our meal would be, considering that the communication was dreadful throughout the booking process. We were asked to pay deposits & preorder, then we were told to pay in full, we experienced very slow replies to emails and unable to speak to anyone in charge over the phone. I ended up being given the personal email for the chef as it was impossible to contact anyone else front of house. We arrived and the table was not set as advised with candles, chocolates and place cards. Prosecco was brought over that we hadn’t ordered, no drinks menus were offered, no water on the table, all basic things for a group booking. We struggled to get anyone to take our drinks order and then lots of items weren’t available when we did finally get to order. Service was extremely slow in all aspects. Starters were served, but they were never cleared from the table despite only 2/8 people ordering. We had to ask for someone to clear our table and have our mains as we had been waiting for a long time. Preorder was not up to date despite being emailed to the restaurant and chef, requests for ‘plain, no cheese, no sauce’ were not adhered to, food came out at totally different times, all the side dishes missing. When the food finally did arrive, it was not worth the wait, everyone left at least 1/2 their meals except for two diners who were so hungry they did eat what they were offered, but the food was mostly cold, dry, tough and unpleasant. We waited until 3pm, we had been sitting staring at our barely touched main course plates for what felt like an eternity, ignored by every member of staff. Therefore we decided to give up on the entire experience and ask to skip dessert completely as we just wanted to leave. The ‘manager’ was extremely reluctant to deal with the issues, pretty much avoided speaking to us at all, claimed they were ‘sorting things out on their system’ we were waiting over 30 mins to settle our drinks bill. In the end we all paid individually at the bar, without even so much as an apology, absolutely ridiculous experience from start to finish, avoid.

The service was awful - inattentive to the point of rude. Staff seemed inexperienced. Food was pretty average - chicken in the Caesar salad was dry, chewy and a bit burnt. Same issue with the chorizo in the kebabs. My friend is diabetic and ordered a sugar free pepsi, they brought a regular pepsi without saying anything and his blood sugars went haywire. Didn't have any decaffeinated coffee and also had no no dairy-free milk options. Trying to find positives to balance this out a bit but struggling. The fries were tasty and the cocktails aren't bad.

Where to begin …. I made this booking on line for the festive fayre meal and paid a £50 deposit . I was then rung the day before the booking to say that I hadn’t submitted a preorder . I said I hadn’t been asked to , I then received an email to submit a pre order , I collated my groups requests went to submit and was asked for full payment of £165.00 , even though I had already paid a £50 deposit . I did not submit the request and emailed the glass house ,explaining all of the above . I called on the morning of the booking , no answer so I left a message , I then received an email to say we couldn’t have the festive fayre menu as the kitchen needed a weeks notice , but we could have off the normal menu and we would get 20% off the bill for the inconvenience …fair enough . On arrival there were only 8 customers in the building , 1 waitress/ bartender and 1 person in the kitchen . We ordered drinks , and then food . 3 of us ordered burgers was told there was no lettuce …. Ok . We then ordered a second drink , and asked for the dessert menu to be told the kitchen was closed , this was at 8.45 pm !!!! So not only did we not get what we originally booked for we were told we could not have a dessert . The waitress got a ‘manager’ over who faced with 4 frustrated women bumbled his way through an excuse , it was clear that there was never an option for a festive menu as you hadn’t had the bookings , why advertise it then ? We were then given the bill but the £50 deposit I had already paid had not been taken off and I was told that this would be refunded to me as it was a holding deposit for the table , nowhere in my booking confirmation was this communicated . Needless to say I refused to pay unless the £50 was removed . The whole evening was really disappointing and you are falsely advertising for a service that you clearly can’t provide . What would have happened if I had paid the bill upfront as was requested when I went to submit the pre order , I would have been making this payment in good will when it was clearly a false pretence . We will not be returning as the whole experience was a let down and a disappointment !

I arrived without booking and was accommodated in the bar. I understand with Christmas parties etc it was likely to be busy but I wasn’t turned away so very happy indeed. I went for the BBQ Beef Brisket Burger. This came with fries and “pickles”. As a massive fan of burgers, fried and yes pickles this was a sure choice. I didn’t want to over eat so never ordered letra fries. Slight disappointed with the 3 thin slices of pickled cucumber but it was ok. The burger was amazing and the fries were seasoned perfectly. I drank the craft and clever house beer which was also very nice. Waited a little too long when looking at the dessert menu so decided against it, I was interested in the hot chocolate as I wasn’t feeling a full dessert but it was server plain as standard so decided to have 1 more pint of beer to finish off my meal. Would certainly go back, with friends of the wife for sure if I’m ever in the area. Thankyou for the great hospitality.

We are from London, Bedford, Stevenage and Hitchin. We booked a table for a little over 10 people, when we went to order our food we were told that the kitchen was closed, who accepts a dinner reservation at 7.30 knowing that the kitchen closes at 8pm? We then spoke to management who finally agreed to take our dinner order, which we had to ask for twice (from the first time we ordered, they again told us there were no cooking ingredients). When we finished eating, there was no staff to clear the plates, so my friends and I took the plates to the kitchen. Since when do customers become waiters? Other than that the service is very poor, dirty glasses which we returned asking for clean ones to be provided (extremely poor hygiene) we all ended up eating burgers (better if we went to McDonald's honestly) The live music was great and the place is beautiful, which It's the only reason we stay there.

We made a bookinh for 15 people for 7.30pm and at 8.15pm when we went to order we were told that the kitchen was closed (they had already given us the menu for lunch a few minutes before). After speaking to the manager, she told us that we could order one dish per person, we placed the order and then they came to tell us that they didn't have the meat dish that was on the menu (that 5 people at the table had ordered) and that we could have burgers. The service was very poorly organised. When it came time to pay, we didn't see the bill but instead they charged us per person for what we consumed.

We came for our annual Christmas meal. I had recently eaten at a very well reviewed local pub restaurant, and the food was basically cold and inedible. (Roast potatoes that were as hard as bricks, and had never seen an oven or oil. You could have played a round of golf with them....) I was therefore worried, in case The Glasshouse would be another disappointment. How wrong I was! From the warm and welcoming greeting, received at the door, to the end of the evening - it was simply 1st class! The table looked beautiful. Our wine was poured literally as soon as we sat down. We had a mixture of vegetarian, fish and meat meals, and all were hot and delicious to eat. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly throughout, but without being intrusive. Sadly, I didn't make a note of either her name, or the lovely man who also looked after us, but thank you both! x

A Memorable Dining Experience I recently dined at the Glasshouse Hitchin and it was fantastic! The staff was warm and attentive, a lot of friendliness and professionalism. Our server provided great recommendations and made us feel valued. The food was outstanding! Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. atmosphere was great, and ambience had soft lighting and lovely decor, making it ideal for any occasion! Overall, I highly recommend ! Myself and my friend booked for lunch. The service was slow, despite it being quite quiet when we arrived and my drink was forgotten. We had steak and chips from the lunch menu but different dishes. The steaks were both awful. I asked for medium / rare but it wasn't. It was much more well done. It was a horrible, overcooked and rock hard lump of meat on a plate. I could hardly cut it let alone chew it. A very disappointing meal

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the glasshouse, and I must say, the experience was made truly memorable thanks to our server, Abi. From the moment we arrived, Abi welcomed us with a warm smile and a friendly demeanour that set the tone for the evening. Waited an hour and a half for our food, drinks were everything but unlimited, the poor staff were stretched beyond belief, terrible management, messed up food service all night, pathetic bar service, left without paying for half of it. Went to have a drink on a Saturday around 4:30pm. Lots of people seated but only one other person waiting to be served at the bar. We waited 10 minutes, there were four staff members all serving up the same order and nobody acknowledged our presence, even after one or two had made eye contact. We were only a couple of metres away so could clearly be seen waiting. We gave up and went down the road to Bridgetown Monroe where we received fantastic, friendly service and there was a great atmosphere. Sadly it’s gone massively downhill since the change from P&P.

Great bar in the middle of town! Themed events and live gigs are really worth going to and make sure you pre book ahead of time as they do sell out. Drink prices are very reasonable and the food really hit the spot. Staff are super friendly which I think makes all difference.

Really slow, Ruined the vibe and we just wanted to leave. We did complain and they gave us extra time but we had other places booked. Really poor bottomless brunch. People who were at the bar got drinks straight away but we Wernt allowed to go to the bar. Food was nice but would not recommend to book the brunch.

Visited after a meal out, and was left disappointed. Huge TV screens line the top of the bar which detracts from the atmosphere, as did the tacky Halloween decorations. The two cocktails we ordered were around £10 each. The drinks took a long time to make and ingredients were missing (candyfloss? Not sure my drink was supposed to even have it!)

We met relatives for lunch. The waitress was lovely and helpful. The food was tasty. The overall experience was was marred because of where we were sat. At the back in front of the photo booth. The tables seemed to have been squeezed in as they were next to what I presume was a store room. During our visit I had to move four times to enable a member of staff to get into it. Once would have been enough, but four times was very annoying.

We had booked a bottomless brunch for today. We got seated, 20 minutes went by and nobody approached us. We had to call a waiter to order. We then waited an additional 30 minutes for a bottle because we did not trust them to fill up a glass each time. Our food came 50 minutes after our original booking time. We ordered an starter which never arrived. After asking for the bill we had to wait an additional 20 minutes and reminded them 3 times. Will not be returning sadly. There were multiple tables around us with the same situation . Nice atmosphere but horrendous wait staff!

I went here for a bottomless brunch on a Saturday evening with a large group to celebrate my cousins birthday. When the brunch started it became clear quite quickly that the staff were short and struggling. The group I was with were all quite understanding so we just waited patiently for our first drinks. Some of us were waiting for 40+ minutes for our first drinks, and as we’d paid for bottomless this was really disappointing. We felt like we weren’t getting to take advantage of the time we had to enjoy bottomless drinks. Some of the group gave up waiting entirely and went to the bar to pay for extra drinks. Our main waiter actually turned out to be the head chef, he was helping out with serving because of the short staffing. He was brilliant and did his best to provide a good service, we really appreciated him because he really was trying his best. However, he even said himself ‘I don’t know how to make cocktails so I’ll just bring all the syrups to the table and you guys can make them yourselves’. Obviously this wasn’t an ideal situation but we just tried to make do and enjoy the night regardless but to be honest I think this is completely unacceptable considering we paid £39 a head to make our own cocktails! When the food also eventually arrived, a lot of our food was cold and looked like it had just been chucked together in a rush. Like I said it was obvious the shift was understaffed, so this review is in no way directed towards the staff. They were all very apologetic and were clearly just trying to do their best. I just think that if the shift is anticipated to be unable to meet expectations, then the booking should be cancelled. What I think is unacceptable is to take the money (£500+) and provide a poor service. One of our group went to the manager to complain, and I will say that the manager kindly extended our slot to account for the 40+ minute wait time for our first drinks. All in all the evening was poor, which is a shame because my cousin booked this place to celebrate her birthday because she has been there loads before and always had such an amazing time!

Went for the bottomless brunch which always used to be great with 5 friends. We booked for 5pm and weren’t even served or approached for our first drinks until gone 5.30. Despite it being quiet and plenty of staff, we weren’t regularly topped up and asked different waiting staff numerous times for more drinks, which never appeared. Seems they have employed lots of underage staff (cheaper wages) to cover tables, but who aren’t able to pour drinks, so 2 people behind the bar are struggling to keep up. With orders missed and drinks that never turn up, it was poor value for a ‘bottomless’ experience when you end up with just 3 drinks in 2 hours. Food was average, cold chips etc. Very disappointed considering the brunches used to be good. Won’t return for this.

The team were able fit a large group of 14 in with a week's notice after another restaurant let us down. It was the day of a change of ownership and both the food and service were very good! They even stored and brought out a cake we brought in for pudding, which was a lovely touch. Will go here again!

Dreadful service. We booked a bottomless brunch, it took 20 minutes from being seated to recieve our first drinks. We were not offered any more, a waiter came over and took a 2nd drinks order but we ended up going to get our own drinks at the bar. The food took almost 2 hours to come out and after chasing it after about 90minutes they didn't have the food we ordered.we ended up collecting our own food from the kitchen as there was only 2 floor staff. When we asked why there is such a delay we were given numerous excuses, we have been in before to bottomless brunch with a full restraint and never recievd this kind of service. I do have to say whilst the service was so poor one particular lady on the floor was super helpful

Upon arrival, we were told to seat ourselves. We placed our drinks orders almost instantly and asked for the 2 for 1 cocktails. After waiting 45 minutes and complaining twice, we received our first drink and not the second one on the offer (this arrived just after an hour). The wait for the food was equally as long, waiting for atleast another hour after ordering before the food was presented. Overall the quality of the food was incredible, and the cocktails were really good, but the service was far too slow and only one server seemed to know what he was doing.

Not sure where to start really with this one, but will start with this was the singular worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant/bar. I will start by saying our group of 8 were very aware that Hitchin was busy for the Busted gig at The Priory, but the Pitcher and Piano was absolutely deserted when we got there, maybe only 5-6 tables total on the entire floor in use. It remained this way for over an hour as well. There also appeared to be only one person seating people only, but 4-5 bar staff on. Bearing in mind the place was deserted for this length of time, we had already seen the few people in there complaining how long they were waiting and the poor quality of the food. On top of this, we were left 25 minutes without a drinks order being taken (we had to ask someone to come and take it). We were then left a further 25 minutes without any drinks being brought to us, and floor staff were less than helpful. We went to the bar and discovered that they hadn’t bothered making the drinks yet as they had to go out and physically buy the ingredients for two of our parties cocktails (if you haven’t got the stuff, take it off the menu for that evening!). We had to bring all our own drinks back. In this time, we still had not had a food order taken, but there were people starting to come in and be seated, plus there were tables being served before us that were seated after us! There were people waiting at tables for over half hour drinks who just upped and left, and the staff bringing drinks around looked baffled as to why people were leaving! We finally got our food ordered but had to wait over 45 minutes. To add to this, I went to the bar to get more drinks as this seemed logical to do, as they had very few people up there and waiting for someone to take our order seemed pointless. This was an absolutely awful decision in the end. Over 25 minutes at the bar just to get a beer and a coke. The people making cocktails had no idea what they were doing, had no control over the queue and kept serving people out of order. When what looked like the bar manager actually taking command and telling someone cleaning the same shot glass for 10 minutes to serve, they totally ignored me - next in line - and went to the other end of the bar! Got my drinks eventually. I returned to the table, and food still wasnt there and staff didn’t care whether we had food or not. They even made one starter wrong and the attitude was well you might as well keep it now. After some time we had enough and went to the kitchen and all our food was just sat there, so we got our own food too. My Wife and our friend are both pregnant and ordered burgers…the meat was raw, and this nearly flipped me over the edge. Others food was burnt and inedible too. We had enough, refused to pay for anything for the sheer poor service and lack of empathy and walked out. People were complaining at every table, they couldn’t cope with the volume and didn’t seem to care much. If you cannot cope, stop seating people, focus on the floor and clear your backlog. So many people were complaining about their food and services it was quite shocking. We will never return here again, as clearly your system and team simply doesn’t click, dont want to serve people with a smile and cannot cope with small volumes of people

Used to come a lot when Pitch & Piano and the food was good. Menu change with the name change and had a simple Caeser salad with passed its best lettuce most could not be eaten and the salad on my friends order was off. Told manager that wasn’t bothered and just said he would let the kitchen know not even an apology. Service is painfully slow.

Absolutely horrendous. I had booked this place for a birthday meal for my daughter and had received email confirmation. I had also detailed that the booking was for my daughter’s birthday in the section for ‘special occasion’. When we arrived at the restaurant nobody greeted us for 5-10 minutes, then a chap appeared and said we could sit anywhere. He said there was only one person in the kitchen so food was going to be about a 15-20 minute wait. We were not given menus, or told how to order, no drinks order, absolutely nothing. One waiter was standing on the front steps smoking as we arrived. After sitting for 15 minutes we got up and left and ended up in the most amazing restaurant, Lussmanns, where we received a lovely warm welcome, cosy atmosphere, amazing food and even a surprise birthday ice cream with a candle. Would never go back to Pitcher and Piano again - zero welcome, zero atmosphere and it would appear zero food.

First visit to The Jester... Friendly welcome. Quick & efficient service. Food: Superb roast, a well presented hearty plate. Chicken stuffed with spinach, roasties, Yorkshire pudding with vegetables on the side. My partner had the Roast Pork which was equally tasty. Honey comb cheesecake didn’t touch the sides! A delight not to have to cook Sunday lunch, thank you all. We will be back 🙂

Having been recommended to eat at this pub we were very disappointed with the Sunday lunch today. Food wasn’t hot. Beef was tough, one of our party struggled to eat it. Mentioned this to a member of staff who apologised but no further recompense offered. We dined in what appeared to be a shed, cold air blowing through gaps in the structure.
