From the moment we stepped inside, I could feel the weight of disappointment settle like a dark cloud. The decor, desperately clinging to a bygone era, screamed for a total overhaul. It was as if time had forgotten this place, leaving it to slowly fade into obscurity. But the real heartbreak came when we tried to enter the conservatory. My husband, who uses a wheelchair, was forced to wait in awkward silence as staff scrambled to lay down a ramp—a ramp that should have been seamlessly integrated into the experience. The humiliation of being treated as an afterthought, rather than a cherished guest, cut deep. This may not be an issue for everyone, but for us, it was a glaring stain on what was supposed to be a special night. The menu was straightforward—two or three courses—but the food, while pleasant, lacked the magic we’d experienced in the past. The absence of any offer for additional sides, like vegetables, left us feeling overlooked. Yes, we could have asked, but should we really have had to? The glass of champagne, the supposed crown jewel of the evening, was a complete letdown, tasting more like a cheap sparkling wine. It was a bitter sip that lingered long after the meal. Service, too, was a shadow of what it could have been—hurried, inattentive, and devoid of warmth. And then, the final blow: the bill. We were charged for three three-course meals and two desserts, when there were only two of us. After pointing out the error, the revision still wasn’t correct. But my husband was eager to leave, so I paid, my heart sinking as I realized how badly we’d been overcharged. And to top it off, I’d left a tip, making me feel like a fool. I had specifically noted in our booking that this was a celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary—a milestone deserving of at least a small gesture, perhaps a candle or a special touch. But there was nothing, not a single acknowledgment of our special night. The lack of care and attention to detail left us feeling hollow. What was meant to be a joyous occasion was instead marred by disappointment and regret, a night that should have been memorable for all the right reasons, but was instead unforgettable for all the wrong ones.

Very disappointing, it was chaotic, slow and when the food eventually arrived it was not hot! It took over an hour from sitting down to the food arriving, however, Deliveroo drivers were in and out like yo-yo’s evidently taking the kitchen’s time and priority over the customers on site. The shepherds pie was pitiful, hardly any meat, and lukewarm and served with a side of cubed potatoes when the pie was mainly mash. The kids fish fingers were over cooked, dry and hard. Needless to say we won’t be returning and I doubt that several table around us will either as everyone was frustrated by the extended wait but all witnessing the endless stream of motorbike delivery guys walking in and out!

Always a warm welcome when I visit this cafe and today we were met by Hannah with a big warm smile. Food is amazing. Great choice of sandwiches, panini’s, salads and jacket potato with varied fillings and of course an amazing array of cakes! Today’s choice was a hand carved salad with beautiful fresh salad. And my friend had the Chicken Caesar Salad. Bonnies never fails to impress. Would highly recommend.

Poor service, counter full with dirty dishes and cups when waiting to order. Very expensive. Thought the whole experience was very disappointing, as was expecting more .

I don't usually write reviews, but I was really disappointed in the quality of food at this place, it's great concept with the small kids' area so people with kids can sit and have their food or coffee whilst their kids play however when eating out and paying £27 for 2x breakfast meals and 2 coffees you'd expect good quality food something a little nicer than you could make yourself at home. The pancakes were the ones you get in a packet from the supermarket £1 for packet of 6 that you put down in the toaster with 2 slices of bacon and half a tin of syrup you'd expect fresh pancakes for the price of £12. The avocado on toast was tasteless really thick white bread with just avocado spreaded on top really poorly displayed for a cafe/restaurant- if you are ordering crushed avocado on toast, you usually get it on a nice piece of sourdough fresh bread with chilli seeds cherry tomatoes and rocket or radishes with feta and balsamic glaze or nice tasting sauce of some kind, it was so basic for the price you pay. The coffee I couldn't even drink, it was also tasteless- I'd also suggest them investing in a decent coffee machine if they are going to charge £3 for a coffee. Also, please note the venue has a black baby gate as you enter via a ramp it's quite tricky to open especially if you are on your own with a buggy.

Lovely pub. First time at the weekend for Sunday lunch family of 4 adults and 3 kids. Staff super friendly (thank you Harry and co for taking such good care of us). Beautifully refurbed with old and new meeting nicely. We’ll be coming back. Food was delicious and portion sizes great. This is how service should be. Still not hungry!!
