The best restaurants serving British food in Basildon East of England

Nice clean place, but that is all I can say was good. The worst pie & mash I've ever had, the meal was only luke warm, and the pies were under cooked, there was a group on another table that complained about their meal being cold, and then walked out leaving the food on the table. This was my first time in this restaraunt and will be my last.

The pies were soggy and not a lot of meat mash was average, and the liquor was Luke warm. Would I go back? Definitely not.

Staff were nice but didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Fingers and hands all over the coffee glass rim. Three things I asked for they didn’t have. Had to ask for a glass for the bottle of lemonade (which was third choice). Sat outside because we had a dog and to enjoy the sun - in a cloud of staff Vaping in the doorway next to us and smokers the other side. Never returning, plenty of other places in high st that know how to run things properly.

Absolutely shocking so understaffed got a starters as a main and the main never came out with the starter .. the food was not what it looked like in website too ..

Food was very disappointing. It was dry, tasteless & made with little effort. Staff attitude was fine, but wouldn’t go back or recommend here.

Good breakfast with a good selection of items. Clean restaurant and good customer service

The Forge has reopened under new management and has a better choice of beers. No meals other than pizzas and pies. Both look good. The staff are helpful and friendly! A great local.

Solid boozer with a good atmosphere and nice friendly staff Bar was busy and really did enjoy it Breakfast was great and worth every penny

Been to this restaurant a number of times for breakfast and lunch. The quality of food, ambience and service was excellent and a walk around the farm shop is a must. I don't think you will come away empty handed.

Visited this gem of a place today after finding out the log cabin has been closed. We not from round here but we definitely will be back and recommend to friends etc, a few little teething problems but to be fair they have only been open for the first time since lockdown so it’s understandable and also sporting a new menu. So to summarise bloody lovely and friendly staff and made the four of us very welcome,thanks again

A bit short on a large portion of chips but tasty

Really poor service Told him what table number we was at the till, he put wrong number down, then told me it was pending in my bank. But the money had gone through. Trying to tell me that the payment hadn’t gone through. Asked the manager for his name - he relplied John, wasn’t apologetic, didn’t want to know, just walked off.

Fantastic little pub on the high street! Really friendly staff and punters too. Dog friendly which was a fantastic, and the GSD loves the Dog Station with fresh water and treats! The food was also really nice! All round nice pub! Thank you 😀

Staff are not very welcoming. You ask for something and it seems too much. Chips are horrible and cola is flat. Atmosphere is like you are a funeral. Decor is very gloomy too. Feels like I’m in the Wimpy back in 1982.
