The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

We went in for a breakfast first morning we were in Yarmouth and went back on the last morning after our superb weekend festival. One of the best & freshest All Day/Jumbo breakfasts I have ever had and I've spent 40 years in the travel industry. Not only was the food superb, the coffee was spot on and the hosts were ever so friendly, down to earth and sociable. It was a pleasure and we'll be back when we can. In a lovely location on the Shotley Peninsula overlooking the River Stour. Nice to sit outside a have a drink. The food is hit & miss - sometimes very good & at other times very bad. The interior is rough & unloved & not very welcoming - it could be so much better with some money spent on updating the decor & furnishings. I found the toilets very clean.

For years we have treated ourselves to lunch at the Sandringham Restaurant around Christmas, but since the Deborah Steward company ceased running the restaurant it has gone seriously downhill. This year on 28th December was the nail in the coffin! On arrival, the restaurant was about half full. The apologetic waitress siad there was an hour's wait for any hot food except for soup as they had been very busy. As we didn't want to wait for an hour, we ordered the soup. Ten minutes later we were told all the soup had gone, but we could wait for a different type of soup to be made. Half an hour later, two bowls of very good tomato and basil soup arrived, however the accompanying bread turned out to be a slice of white sliced bread each. It felt like a Candid Camera episode and I felt very sorry for the waitresses dealing with the situation. I hope Queen Camilla doesn't pop in for lunch!

We were very disappointed with our visit to the Holly Bush for lunch today. It is a lovely building which used to always be clean and bright with highly polished brasses but now looked less so and the menu which was always extensive and interesting is now plain and boring. The service was very slow, apparently the oven stoped working but this was not explained until the simple food, 3 sandwiches and a jacket potato, arrived and the person serving us was obviously not happy, and we felt that we were something of a nuisance for being there! We have taken many friends there in the past but not any more.

This place is a dump and plays horrible loud music which doesn’t belong in this area. If he wants to do this, he should open up on Prince of Wales Road

Ordered the steak medium. Came out, not as I ordered. Forgot all the sides…. No check up on the food by the staff. Waste of time. Walked out leaving a Stella behind! Bad!!!

How do you mess up a steak that badly, strange concept, they give you tablets, despite having 4 staff staring at you not saying a word, you do it all yourself and then they charge you for the service... I ordered the steak, rare, it arrived well done and tough as boots, I couldn't manage it, could be the worst steak I've ever had! Was never asked how it was, just got up and left. Really cold strange place

I took my grandparents for lunch. We waited 25 minutes just for a drink and another 30 minutes for food. My grandma was not impressed. Way to understaffed for a busy coffee shop.

I stayed here for two nights this week and found it to be excellent. I stayed in one of there spacious lodges and nice shower room and the breakfast and evening meals I had was excellent the service was good as well.

Had a mid afternoon Sunday lunch here, absolutely fantastic all 4 meals including starters desserts and cheese was all delicious, great friendly service and nice sensible price wine

We started to read the reviews after we had sat down and began to feel some trepidation. However we were pleasantly surprised. Service was not that slow but they might think about employing one or two more servers. My wife had haddock and chips and I had Asian noodles with pork belly. The fish was ok but she reported that there was more batter than fish. I enjoyed the noodles which came as a generous serving, with four slices of pork. I dare say that we’ll be back.

Ignored by two female members of staff while they did a personal transaction on the till. In fact, we actually asked if they were still serving as we had not been acknowledged. One member just replied bluntly yes and continued with their transaction. It all seemed a bit of an effort for them. The tea was coffee was actually nice when we received them.

Appalling The rudest staff I have ever met Don't do the job if you don't enjoy it Management needs to address the waitresses...bitter, rude, aggressive

Requested a large chips but got given what appeared to be a medium sized portion and get this - they charged me £3.50 for it! I couldn't believe it. This is LOWESTOFT! Not LONDON! Stop ripping off your customers and overcharging! I won't be coming back.
