How do you mess up a steak that badly, strange concept, they give you tablets, despite having 4 staff staring at you not saying a word, you do it all yourself and then they charge you for the service... I ordered the steak, rare, it arrived well done and tough as boots, I couldn't manage it, could be the worst steak I've ever had! Was never asked how it was, just got up and left. Really cold strange place

Visited here for breakfast a few times for brekkie after meeting and have to say the staff look miserable, the breakfast itself for a buffet is ok, but it’s like a hive of miserable authoritarian older ladies that think they’re school dinner ladies! … not for me!

Appreciate it when buses are in or there are 'specials' on the menu. Recently had a few additional options added such as chinese belly pork, hunters chicken and spare ribs. Similar to most IHG hotel menu's.

Decepcionante.

We went for our first experience at the holiday inn hotel restaurant. It’s not a place you would necessarily think of going for your Sunday dining experience, but it was absolutely superb. They offered a traditional roast dinner (readily plated) but with an added finesse to it. All freshly cooked and roasted. The celeriac purée is one of the best things I’ve ever had with a roast dinner! There were other options available if it’s not for the whole family’s liking, which you don’t get everywhere either. There seemed to be care taken in the cooking of the food and you can clearly see it’s not batch cooked. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be going back to try the other dishes available! Sorry no photos

We were unfortunate enough to attend a Christmas party night here and I’m still reeling from the experience. The food was inedible, the waiting staff were aggressive and I could have stayed the night for the price of a bottle of wine which is the cheapest available anywhere else. Avoid at all costs!

Arrived and welcomed by very friendly receptionist who told us everything we needed to know. Room was better than expected and air conditioning was a godsend. There was a wide selection for breakfast but not a lot for vegetarians if you wanted a fry up. Hash browns and egg in muffin were very hard! Disappointed only one menu and again not a lot for veggies. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very quiet even though it’s located next to an airport. Love the fact that they serve Starbucks coffee. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Norwich.

Well for a start the young ladies on reception were great. They described everything that was on offer at the hotel along with the times etc. We had booked this hotel via booking.com only a couple of hours earlier and went for the upgrade to the executive room. The room was a nice size with everything in it you could want.... iron and ironing board, obviously TV, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer. The bathroom was a really good size, with jacuzzi jets... wooooooo!!.. and separate shower. This hotel is perfect for a pre-flight or after flight stopover as the hotel is besides the airport. A really nice quality hotel. The only downside to the hotel are the bar prices which are fairly high. But overall a lovely stay.

Not even to fill that stomach up. I ordered the vegetable soup, and there was no taste in there. Not a drop of salt. No nothing. Then the pork chops... How difficult can it be? Tasteless, overcooked. It was clear that they tried to make it look good, with some kind of fish preparation. But the final result was terrible with stuff on top of another with very little sense. And, it came with a gravy... Difficult to explain. No flavor... What was in there, guess I'll never know. Next time, McDonald's across the road.

Attended a friends wedding reception with some family here and overall had a very good evening. All good was served hot and quickly, the chicken dish was a little overpowered by the tomato gravy but all the other food was good. Evening bar staff were quick, seemed happy dancing away to the music. One annoyance was the glass collection lady kept picking up half full drinks which we kept having to grab back. Toilets clean although one door lock was broken.

Yes, they're having a refurb, but one would hope the staff could compensate for the lack of decor. As it happens, the decor is & was never a problem. I truly believe the staff have had it to the back teeth. The lack of customer care was more of a concern. Freezing cold in the room, with no TV reception, fine, but, what about service recovery? Two drinks tokens at reception, when presented to make shift bar, was told quite bluntly "you can only have 2 small wines"! No smile, no eye contact, just HER vile bitter look. The young lad was embarrassed by her manner. We sat waiting in the restaurant for 20 + minutes. When the waiter finally came, we decided on having soaked up the dreary, drab atmosphere (local radio station playing traffic updates in the background), we decided to eat at Mc Donald's, this was closed, & luckily the Brewers Faye's was open (if ghastly, it was better than the Holiday Inn). I can't really express how nasty my experience is. And now, I have to stay there tonight, AND I've ordered breakfast! Am so fed up!

Why allow a wedding booking to take place when renovations are happening? Why serve cold soup with bones in it? If you are planning to hold a function here I would seriously avoid it. Beef with cold blood running out of it is not rare. It's not cooked. Awful place.

We arrived for a late lunch. The main restaurant was closed but we were offered a bar menu. The place looked dated, a cross between a nursing home and a service station. Service was really poor and slow. Kitchen seemed very loosely connected to service. We received the wrong orders then received the right orders at different times. Food was poor commercial stuff but we were hungry so glad of something eventually. The only positive is that this is better than anything you can get at the airport next door!

This is written following a review on the hotel's own website, and to the disappointing reply given by the hotel manager, totally ignoring our concerns. This particular evening, it was busy as there was a function on as well as a busy restaurant. We were in the restaurant (2nd ones to enter) from opening time at 6:30pm until we left at around 9:10pm. The female staff were kept very busy but let down by very little organisation and unhelpful kitchen staff. Unfortunately, this was all denied by the manager. However, you only had to listen to the waiting staff talking about being shouted at by the chef/s and apologising to customers for the delays. Poor girls, I felt sorry for them, they were trying to do their best. Please, Ms Manager of the Holiday Inn, Ipswich Road, Norwich, get to grips with it and don't make excuses for your hotel. Everything else was fine on this occasion.

A hotel going through a renovation program......on a shoestring. Bathroom door looked like it was from a different building, it wouldn't close and had an amateurish paint job done on it. The wardrobe is too narrow to accept the hangers supplied by the hotel. The bed was missing valences so the old box springs showed the "stains of age". The Bed was two doubles pushed together with a sheet over the two, which is OK, but the bed covers were only for a queen size bed, way too small. Only towels for one. The landline phone didn't work.Close until the renovation is finished and get a new contractor.

There is something you need to know but I am not sure if this infringes tripadvisor rules.Let me explainOn Friday evening we attended the Kew Green employee awards dinner as we were representing Macmillan Cancer support. We have used this Hotel many times over the years but this time there was a freshness that exceeded our past experiences. The evening provided an opportunity to meet many of the staff, mangers and executives from the various hotels of the Kew Green organisation. The meal and presentation of it was superb and the Norwich staff deserve plaudits. But here is where I wonder if I may be allowed to break the rules. You see what I would really like to do is to write this review in praise of all the Kew Green hotels-without even visiting them.I was just so impressed with the ethic that clearly runs through the entire outfit. I don't bet but I would wager that the quality of the Norwich Airport Holiday Inn as delivered by their staff is replicated in the other Kew Green Hotels. Some of the Award Winners were clearly exemplary but it was plain that the nominees in the same category are no doubt capable of delivering the same service in their own hotels. After all, not all the Awards went to the Norwich staff by any means.which means that in certain areas the other hotels might even be slightly ahead. So I am suggesting that readers might on the basis of what we saw be optimistic of enjoying a visit to a Kew Green Hotel-judging by our assessment of the enthusiastic and professional people we met -even if we haven't visited these other establishments-yet!If this was a public company I would be buying shares.I just felt you needed to know but if this does break the rules you won't will you?

We stayed here for one night before a trip to Tenerife. We booked this hotel because of the proximity to the airport and the Car Parking Package. On arrival it was so easy to check in, no forms to fill in for the car, the very pleasant receptionist did it all for us, we did not even have to hand our keys in, which makes it even more convenient as we had use of the car until check in. On return we just walked to the car and drove away. One of the easiest airport packages we have ever used.We had a good meal in the evening, which we both enjoyed. Our check in was very early so we did not try try Breakfast. However, the downside was the noise in the hotel at night, neither of us slept well the walls seemed ultra thin and we were frequently disturbed by comings and goings of other guests. The mattresses were not comfortable, and quite lumpy, the mattress cover had a huge hole in in it. The room was average, in my opinion overdue to be re furbished, although the bathroom was wonderful with a huge modern shower, so much easier than clambering into a bath. Not sure if we would stop again, a good nights sleep is probably more important than the car parking.

The title says it all, if this hotel were anywhere else the success it enjoys would be short lived. There are many reasons why I say this but in general the hotel lacks any kind of genuine appeal , as well as been tatty around the edges. Whilst many of the staff are hard working individuals there are some that simply turn up. The food is presentable but nothing special and the waiting time leaves a little to be desired. To be clear about what I'm saying is simply this, the hotel needs to define who the customer is in order to improve, it needs to loose the stiffness and concentrate on simple standards. I will be staying again do I hope the experience improves.

I have been to two large business events here in the last two months, one a lunch and the other a black tie dinner. The food is standard bulk cooking, chicken with ordinary vegetables (with 250 to feed in a reasonable time it must be held for a while) and a very uninteresting cheesecake style sweet. The cheese, coffee and starter was perfectly good though.Being the largest sit down venue in the city this place gets business as there is little choice. The place has had an emulsion in places and a few new prints on the wall but that doesn't make up for not turning on the air conditioning until 10pm when diners are flagging and a truly appalling sound system that completely spoiled the speech by The Lord Mayor and other distinguished speakers.Note - A new battery for the existing mic is 2.99 or worse case a new style digital cordless mic is £169.00 plus vat from any good p a retailer, fitting is 4 minutesThe staff here are excellent BUT both occasions there has been far too few. I never even knew there was any parking payment system, on ringing Hotel, Bria said it was ok, they would cancel it. Week later a threatening letter. Cathy, Natalie and Adam all said they would ring back and get it sorted and cancelled, not one of them did ring back. Another letter arrives, more threats and refusal to accept the hotel cancelling it. So a customer that spent money in this hotel, was unaware of this cost and despite this the staff listed said they it was something they would cancel and call back and simply didnt bother. Visited here specifically as the local hotel school from Norwich were "taking over" for a couple of days. The reception and meal were really good, it was interesting to watch the hotel staff and how they approached this and the results were great. Clearly the normal staff were happy to see standards maintained and were there in the background, but if the students standards are anywhere near the hotels normal then this is a good night out. The function room is large, but not to big as to feel lost in it. The bar, reception and toilets are all kept to a high standard for a holiday inn and I would happily return for an evening meal again.

This year was the 2nd year running I've been here for a Christmas night out with family friends etc. This year we had dinner and went to the 60's rock and roll night. If you are wondering where to have an xmas night out or works party etc you would find this hard to beat. BUT. Book as soon as possible as it is very popular. The meal and drinks were pre ordered per person for the table so about £30 pp I don't drink so I didn't bother with that part my wife makes up for me but never knows what she wants until she wants it so the bar is still available. As the night goes on the individual parties (tables) somehow get together a a great time and new friends are made. Ofcourse as any party you will get the dancing on tables and some drunk girls dancing on the bar and the fun part some of your work buddies will shock you by letting down their normal defences. But what the heck book it you will love it. I noticed young 18 + to older more wise couples of at least 80 and everyone inbetween. I noticed lots of table with ladies only. several in fact. we've already booked for next year. My wife came this year and got me to book a seperate night for just the two of us as well as the main night. Enjoy

A friends Hen do was the reason for my visit to this hotel/restaurant on a 'Grease' Theme night.Sadly it was a real disappointment.Food: Very school dinnerish, lacking in any kind of flavour, and my vegetables looked as if they were last weeks reheated! One redeeming element was a beautifully presented desert of mixed chocolate mousse, slightly rich in taste for me but that's personal taste.Drinks: I nearly died when a vodka diet cola, tomato juice and straight malibu came to £9.95 (they were not doubles!!)Atmosphere: Sadly whilst a pleasant enough room with potential, there was no real atmosphere, it was very hot, very bright and no music of any sort until 9.45, bearing in mind most people had been here since 7pmish its just too long ... I gave up shortly after 10pm and whilst at 9.45 music and dancing had begun, there was still no sign of 'Grease'I could just have been unlucky with this particular theme night, perhaps too they are just 'not my thing', but unless I have a win on the lottery to cover the cost of drinks ;) I doubt I shall be back.

Choice of A La Carte or Carvery ( another name for "as much as you like" self serve selection). Had lasagne. Very tasty and nicely cooked. Prices obviously set for "much as you like" therefore a bit expensive for small eaters..

We took our daughter, son in law and grandson here for Sunday lunch to celebrate their wedding anniversary and were most impressed with the welcome, service and carvery on offer and especially to the attention given to our 4 year old grandson for whome it was the first restaurant experience. There was plenty on offer from 3 roasts and several other dishes along with an varied selection of fresh vegetables. This was rounded off with a wide selection of desserts, both hot and cold. With a large lounge area for seating and a well stocked bar it all added up to a very enjoyable Sunday lunch and we will return.

I have given the restaurant four stars (very good), but would give the accommodation only three stars (average). As the hotel is at the airport, there is little competition there, and people who wanted to say at the airport (as our party did), have little alternative. We were attending a funeral at the nearby crematorium and decided to stay at Holiday Inn, having flown to Norwich in early evening.Firstly, the food. We found the menu had a good choice for everyone, and prices were reasonable for an airport location. (£13.95 for 1 course, £17.95 for 2 courses, if I remember correctly). Some of our party ate from the Carvery - although the hot food had been prepared some time before, it was of a good standard. Self-service breakfast (£10 when booked with room) was good and plentiful - again pre-prepared hot food, but it tasted fine. Next, the accommodation. £99 for room only. My own room was rather tired - carpet patched with black tape - surely a competent carpet fitter can do an invisible repair! Dried ring marks from coffee mug which I had to wipe off. Not even one biscuit on the coffee tray. No toiletries in bathroom - just fixed dispensers at hand-basin (foam) and bath (liquid). I would recommend up-grading to better class of room, at £15 extra, if you want to make your stay more pleasant.

I can highly recommend the excellent carvery with its wide variety of tasty dishes. Note the carvery is only available on certain days of the week. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and spacious. The staff are courteous, friendly and most attentive to ones needs. The best carvery I have dined at.

We could not appreciate enough how flexible the staff in holiday inn are.we had our reunion gathering recently with 7 families. From Planning the stay , arranging private dinning place, preparing food to costumers choice, handling noisy kids everything was to perfection. It was a beautiful sunny and their garden was just perfect to laze around. We had family rooms which were very spacious and clean. Our thanks to abhi, sophie and everyone who made our reunion very memorable.

Over priced, noisy, dodgy grub, tired rooms, atmosphereless bar. Has a captive market off offshore workers and aircrew. Definitely not a place to be based for more than one night.

The hotel is over price for tired dirty rooms, our room had a dirty carpet, smelly shower curtain and milldew inthe bath, tiles and toilet. Any requests made to the reception staff are too much trouble. Wifi is charged per device, what use is this when most people have a smartphone and laptop at least, not good from a hotel which says its a business hotel! I would not recommend this hotel.

This hotel is a typical basic airport hotel. The room was completely bland, the carpet looked quite dirty and the bath had mould round the bath and the taps plus the bottom of the toilet was was broken. It does have a small pool and gym which is nice. I would rate this as a 3 star hotel not 4 and certainly not worth the rate they charge. I was staying for a function and got a cheap rate so that was ok. For a one night stay it's ok but no longer

Unpleasant environment. Once sat I noticed how dirty and littered the floor was along with food crumbs spread across the bench seating areas. Plenty of staff to clean the floor and tables yet this has not been done. Coffee was very tasteless and overly milky, would even say a tad sour, an overpriced experience. Sat near the back kitchen and a slightly eggy smell is wafting into the seating area which just adds to the grubby feel in this place.

Good stop off near the train station. Better in summer when you can sit outside, but still good selection of drinks at reasonable prices.
