This place is a dump and plays horrible loud music which doesn’t belong in this area. If he wants to do this, he should open up on Prince of Wales Road

Don't bother to make the unbelievable journey (by car) down to this place. Although web site said it was open, it wasn't. Lane to it had more pot holes than tarmac. Looks like a building site as you drive in- rubbish around the place, dumped caravans, outside toilets. I expect the approach is better by river. So much potential...

This was our first planned stop on our boat trip. Only problem when we tried to book it turned out they weren't planning to be open but said we could moor anyway. When we got there John came out to greet us and said we could get a drink if we wanted. So I had a couple of nice ales the set up the barby by the boat with his blessing. A good bloke and the pub looked good too.

! !Buena suerte.

This pub has such promise - over the past two years it has sadly suffered from bad management and neglect. - however the owners are back and determined to put this right. They have already invested in upgrading the bedrooms upstairs which are now up to a very good standard - ideal for fishing trips - or boating friends. The are equipped so you can self cater. The pub itself is still in need of a good refurb. However the day we visited for dinner we had an excellent meal so this is one to keep an eye on. If new managers put the work it this will again be a really good place to stop on the river - using the moorings by the beer garden.

We have been to the Beauchamp Arms many times over the past 12 months for sunday lunch and have always had an excellent meal. The venue has always been busy at these times, creating a nice friendly atmosphere. However after an absence of several months we went again last weekend and unfortunately a recent change of management (back to the previous owner we were told) has seen a dramatic deterioration in the quality of food, the service and also the atmosphere. The restaurant was virtually empty, and it was not hard to see why. It is a real shame but just as things were beginning to improve for this pub, things have taken a dive for the worse. It is such a shame given the pubs wonderful location. If you're looking to eat in this part of Norfolk, I strongly suggest, for the meantime at least, that unfortunately you look elsewhere.

We ordered our food and waited a short time, it was a typical pub menu nothing fancy burger, steaks, gammon, pies, chicken, kids meals and it was by far the BEST pub meal we have eaten in a long time the steak cooked perfect. All the meals well presented and good value for money the most expensive under £14 for a mixed grill. Service was great friendly and always a smile. happened upon it by chance at lunchtime. getting out of the car didn't seem to notice the general dishevelment of the place as the eye was drawn to the large stretch of blue gleaming (on a sunny day) river and passing assorted boats. And yet, a smashed up truck with long arm on the back lays by the ditch on approaching, a dusty BT phone box with weeds a couple of feet high inside and a couple of mashed up picnic benches greet you immediately as you step out of said car into a ramshackley yard. Still looking at the glinting river didn't appear to notice the sad looking plants in equally sad planters, the former screaming for water and attention while weeds silently and surely take them over. The large paved area at the front is a health hazard of uneven yellow and red slabs but the river still catches all your attention.. Inside, past a dodgy looking entrance, you are met by the counter, immediately glance around discerns some large flower patterned wallpaper of dubious taste but recently stuck on, giving the illusion of some care for the interior. This attention is reserved to a small area to the left of the counter. The rest has a decor that would be difficult to find still in existence nowadays but is a perfect witness to what the British public used to put up with and consider acceptable. By that point, being at the main counter, kind of go ahead and order a drink with the menu, which in appearance is a fairly standard offering of frozen then resuscitated pub food. Then sit at an uncleaned (tho' the place is deserted) table inside (as the wind is bad on the day), by a large, old and dirty window, still looking at the river. Food arrives, and is suitably disappointing in spite of having been 'cooked' by a nice man. Sausages not edible, the rest depending on degree of hunger. Good thing they allow dogs. However, having sat quietly in the corner while we ate, when we left our dog was covered in cobwebs previously decorating the lower part of the wall. Overall, an experience to remember.

We moored up outside the Beauchamp Arms on our holiday cruiser with slight trepidation for whilst a sign said they were open under new management the outside looked slightly tired and unloved. However inside is a different matter money has clearly been spent on decor, fixture and fittings and a very tasteful look has been achieved. The greeting from the team behind the bar was really friendly and the food was excellent, freshly cooked, reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. I had a most delicious steak cooked to perfection with a selection of veg and chips. My Mother and partner both chose fresh cod in a tempura batter bought earlier in the day from the fishmonger which was wonderfully light and non greasy again with a selection of veg and chips and raved about it. We were sadly too full for desserts which looked delicious and have marked this pub as a must visit again. Am told Sunday carvery is to behold and if you are travelling by boat and want a mooring for the night, the Arms offers free mooring and wifi should you stop for food/drink. Whilst many places along the river are closing currently it is heartening to see people trying to set up a new business and clearly putting their heart, soul and wallets into it and should be applauded and supported!! Long may the Beauchamp Arms continue!

Under new management, they say, but sadly major improvements are needed before this once great riverside venue is anywhere near the mark. Outside there's a lot of tidying up to do and the rather superficial interior redecoration fails to conceal dated and grubby decor. The lunchtime menu is limited, and there's no problem with that, except it was very limited on the day we called because there was no cod, so we both had the egg, ham and chips which were fine - the chips nicely cooked. It's a pity we didn't stop at that but, foolishly, we were tempted by the more extensive pudding menu. We decided to go for the hot syrup sponge and the hot raspberry jam sponge each with custard, but both were equally grim. I guess the puds were bought in and the custard came straight from a tin, but both puds were undercooked and the custard was stone cold. Sorry guys, there's only one way to go - you've got to up the quality a long way if you're going to make this a destination worth the trip down the that potholed drive.

I believe this place has been recently taken over and they seem to be trying very very hard to improve things from what was before, obviously working with limited budgets. I am guessing the owner is very attentive and working very hard to make things better. The place good do with an over haul but I had a very good local ale ( only 2 on tap and one had run out so obviously they ar doing something right). We had Sunday Carvery which was well priced at £7:50, the Pork and turkey were cooked well and very tasty ( could have done with more crackling) the beef was a little over cooked but thats how my wife likes it although a very thick wedge instead of thin slices. All the side dishes were tasty and well cooked, I had to add some salt to bring flavour out but hey thats me. All in all good food in an environment that needs updating. I hope they do well certainly have the charter and enthusiasm.

As a regular boater from the area, we don't normally use this pub. We gave it a look due to new ownership. It has had a coat of paint, however it hasn't quite decided what sort of venue it wants to be, i.e there are massive games tables, a small dining room, live music, dogs are welcome. The food was tasty but basic, we had to send back 2 sets of very dirty glasses. Plus the waiter kept pestering us to pay the bill. Probably to move us out so the band could play. In summary it's better than it used to be but I'm not likely to go again. There are much more boater friendly relaxing pubs. Sorry

The Beauchamp arms is a nice little place sat on the side of the river with a small amount of mooring, I visited the beauchamp arms with my 2 sons as we were on holiday on the broads and walked from rocklinton st Marys marina where we had stopped for the night. The walk was 1 mile and 3/4 along the nature trail (take long trousers and a stick as there are a lot of nettles on the way.) It is a well presented little pub with what looks like a nice amount of room for the busier times, when arrived it was quite quiet and when at the bar ordering the food and drinks i got a feeling it was a little bit of an inconvenience for the staff, although she did try to look interested. The food was of a good standard and even with a mix up of the starters and all the mains being ready together it was ok. The boys tomato soup was quite nice and they can be fussy. The steak and ale pie was ok pastry a little dry but could have been when was waiting to be re - served after the starter. One of the boys had a burger which again was nice both mains were of a really good size so be ready to eat plenty as well as a reasonable price. I would go again and hope to give a better review. All in all it was a nice place with decent food but with such a great location could do so much better with a bit of effort

The owner is busy effecting the transformation of this pub-restaurant. In my estimation he has invested more in it in the last 7 weeks than previous occupants in the 23 years I have known it. The grounds are neat, the location has always been wonderful. As you enter you immediately notice the change of decor and furniture. I stayed for a meal and had the sea-food platter off quite an extensive menu, which was excellent. Fish fresh, chips cripsy! The wine list is modestly priced. So, all you Norfolk folk who long ago wrote off the Beauchamp Arms, go and give it a chance. You won't be disappointed. NB The owner is seeking to attract year round local custom and sees the river visitors as a bonus, so the menu choice is priced modestly to encourage repeat visits, not just the special occasion. There is also a refurbished function room.

Great for kids too - they couldn't have done any more for my little'n. God bless.

Moored here on the first night of our weekend away. 7 ladies, all hungry and thirsty. We were met by very accommodating staff, who were friendly and went above and beyond to meet our requirements. The landlord informed us he had taken over 3 weeks previously. Some refurbishment has already been completed to a high standard, with plans for even more. They allowed us to use their karaoke machine, which we put to (good) use. Would highly recommend this pub if you want good food and a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks for helping us make some fantastic memories

The Beauchamp Arms has recently had new management. We moored here on the free overnight mooring and visited for our evening meal. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. All the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to please. We ordered the lamb shank and steak and ale pie, which both came with fresh vegetables and a home made gravy The meals were excellent and plentiful and so reasonably priced. We have found a GEM! Pubs Like this are few and far between so the Beauchamp Arms deserves more patronage.

Please ignore any review posted before May 2015. The new people running the show here are doing a wonderful job. I popped in for a drink and something to eat on a VERY busy Sunday lunchtime. I ordered the Scampi, Chips, Peas and Salad which came very quickly and was cooked to perfection. There were many other choices on the extensive menu which looked just as good. There are ample eating areas all of which are very attractive and clean. Good beer also, including local ales. The bar staff are young, vibrant, and very nice. I would recommend this pub on the beautiful river Yare to anyone. And welcome and thank the new team running it. You are doing a great job.

This place is unrecognisable from the posts pre May 2015. New management are rapidly upgrading the pub. Superb location, excellent welcome and service. Sunday lunch carvery above average for pub grub and well priced. Would be worth 4 stars when the work is completed.

We stopped here for a late lunch whilst cycling in the area. The approach from the road is a little scruffy but once you get round the other side by the waterfront - wow! The staff were so friendly and helpful and rustled up some delicious warm baguettes. It was a beautiful day and absolutely idyllic sitting by the water watching the boats and the wildlife. Will definitely be going back and look forward to seeing it fully refurbished.

We visited this pub for the first time last year after walking Wherrymans Way. We only had a drink, and it was dismal and shabby, with rude service from a tattooed barman. However, having seem some better reviews, we decided to walk to the pub again with our dogs, and possibly have our evening meal there. The pub certainly looks better inside, and the man who served our drinks was polite. However, my husband visited the outside loos, and they were so disgusting that he stated he would not eat at the pub! Shame, as its in a lovely spot, appreciate it needs a lot of work and it will take time to complete, but clean loos are a basic necessity!

Forget all previous comments before May 2015. We (a party consisting of 12, a baby and a dog) visited this riverside pub this week only 4 days after the new owners had taken over and couldnt have made a better choice. The owners provided us with a superb evening meal which was clearly all freshly prepared with local produce. I would recommend the lamb shank with was the best Ive ever had. The next morning they served a superb full english breakfast which couldnt be surpassed even accommodating different requirements including a sausage sandwich. The pub is currently being redecorated inside and out but thisby no means detracts from the food or service which were 2nd to none. We wish the new owners all the very best in this venture and cannot thank you enough.

Me and my family came upon this pub on our recent trip to the broads and we are so glad that we did. The current owner could not do enough to accommodate the 13 of us including my 10 month old son at such a short notice. The food was out of this world both at tea time and breakfast and the service was incredible. He told us that he only took over the pub that week and the previous reviews were terrible. This pub has come far forward from the previous reviews and we ask that you ignore the past reviews and give it a chance. The owner has turned this pub around and I am sure he will make it a huge success.

We came upon this lovely riverside pub early in May which, to be fair, didn't look too open. The landlord came out to see us and said that, as he had only moved in that morning, he wasn't really doing food yet, although he could rustle up scampi and chips if that was any good [and a cheese bap with salad for the veggies]. We all agreed instantly, and were served very promptly by the gorgeous young chef - who, as is the way in Norfolk, had served us coffee elsewhere earlier in the day [I'd give that a good writeup too, except I've forgotten the name of the place]. The food was perfectly good, the landlord and his wife falling over themselves to help, even though suddenly feeding six people in the middle of moving in day must have been a pain and we left very full, delighted with the brilliantly kind service and all decided it was a highlight of the holiday. So, please forget the old reviews and give the new people a break - they're going to make it lovely.

Was told not to visit this place but was here anyway so decided to see what all the fuss was about.... We was still not prepared for what state the place was in. so sad really as we all said it had great potential as the surrounding area and location are beautiful. The beer (San Miguel) was off and most of the other beer was unavailable, ended up with bottles back on our boat. Toilets were filthy, broken glass outside and no atmosphere at all. A real shame! Someone please give this place the love it needs to bring it back to life as it could be somewhere really special x

What a load of rubbish. Wouldn't eat here. Had the worst meal ever. Bad quality didn't taste look fresh. Barman had dirty hands serving us drinks. He told me he was a builder/handyman covering as owner was short. Food wise I would avoid. The food we had wasn't fresh. Bad quality as well. Food does come with added extras thou. My misses got half a bowl extra with hers. At this point I almost throw up. The inlaws still wanted the mains and the builder had offered us a refund for the starters and to cancel the mains. But we stupidly carried on. The builder couldn't of been more sorry. And was embrassed. The chef owner came out to say sorry and got us a round of free drinks. Really dirty run done pub. Hasn't been looked after for years. God knows what the kitchen looks like.

This is very much a work in progress environment and it needs a lot of attention to get it to the point that it is worthy of average. I am extremely conscious of not kicking people when they are down and are obviously doing their best but i would recommend closing and then opening when at least the bar area is done- thankfully we are coming to the end of the holiday season so focus can be applied to the enterprise ready for next year. On the plus side- the staff are doing their best and with a genuine smile- its location is perfect and therefore should draw in the crowds once it has been done up properly... so 10/10 for effort and 2/10 for attainment so far- dont lose heart- you have a core of a successful enterprise in location and staff- now you need to make the building and the environment work for them....

Have visited here 3 times in the last couple of months, The first time we stopped by boat and just had a few bevvies. It was tired and didn't look like a place I wanted to eat, although the food I did see looked. The place was being decorated and the bar staff friendly with the added bonus that they let my pampered pooch in. The second time we stopped, we were ravenous for food and out of options. I wasn't very hopeful but was really pleasantly surprised by the burger I opted for.It was homemade and very tasty with a fresh salad that came on a separate plate. Our last visit was on bank holiday w/end. We visited specifically to have the carvery and I have to say it was the best carvery I've had for a while. Whereas most places these days have tired, dried out meat, this was the complete opposite. All the meats were moist, there was a good selection of veg and everything was well cooked. The restaurant was full which is testament to the quality of the food and the improvements being made. Yes there is still decorating to be done and some things need tweaking but come on peops, give them a chance.

I really don't understand a couple of the recent reviews of this establishment, over the past couple of months the new tenants have made great strides towards improving the place beyond recognition. It had been allowed to decay by the owners for many years. While a succession of tenants have failed to halt the slide, the new Tenants however have carried out substantial refurbishment inside, work which is on going. We have eaten there a couple of times in the last month or so and on both occasions the food was excellent, I would go as far to say that the Carvery is the best we have had any where for a long time, the meats were perfectly cooked, not dried up,the vegetables were still crisp and not over cooked and the portions generous. At £6.95 for 1 course, £9.95 for 2 courses and £12.95 for 3 courses is great value when set against other water side eateries on the Broads.Yes there is still "a way to go" but things are certainly heading in the right direction and the number of people eating there when we visited was testament to that.

...was how we felt after our trip to the Beauchamp Arms, like the bouncy castle. Only the prices were inflated, served by a heavily tattooed barman who clearly hadn't been briefed on how to serve a Crabbies. After reading positive reviews about the change of ownership we decided to give it a chance, having avoided it for years, hoping to entertain the children with bouncy castle and play area, but they were dilapidated and covered in green slime. Even the new flooring was already sticky and the lack of moorings make it near impossible to visit by boat. We didn't risk the toilets or the food and the windows have definitely seen better days.

The service was slow and unfriendly, the food was OK at best. The man serving the carvery also doubled as a barman, with no apron. Dishes were cleared around people still eating during both courses! Desserts were inconsistent 4 Chocolate fudge cake 2 hot 2 cold, but without any consultation with us. Apple pie was Apple pudding and 8 desserts we had were dished up over the course of 30 mins in ones and twos. We sat there waiting for the ping of the microwave to indicate someone else would get a dessert.Outside tables were rotten, building in need of remedial maintenance.Would never go again

After previous terrible meals here we stopped by today for lunch thanks to reviews here outlining new management. There is certainly a lot still to do here as it has been neglected for years. Friendlier bar staff, an air of progress. Drinks were cold and served as asked for, with ice. Two massive starter salads, prawn and mackerel £4.75. Pleasant sitting by the river but can be breezy. Tables outside, walls inside being redecorated late July. Look forward to returning when more is done. It was a hot day, but we enjoyed a walk by the river. Long menus but honest food. Id rather eat here than Waters Edge which may be designer decorated but is unwelcome and serves overpriced too fancy food of variable quality.

We almost didn't stay after mooring up & seeing the down at heel exterior, filthy bouncy castle & weedy garden/patio but we were pursuaded to stay because of the convenient location. The inside isn't much better than the outside - I can't remember when I last saw such a depressing pub interior, tatty menus & dreadful loos. We were nervous of eating because the place was so grubby - however the cheesy chips were very nice & a very generous portion - of the 4 of us 2 had decent food, 2 not very good at all although the beer was good. We were served by a very sweet and helpful waitress & what might have been the owner who was also keen to help. Sadly despite this, the broken glass in a door, torn carpet & "Rising Damp" style decor and furnishings made me very glad to get back on the boat. I hate to leave a bad review if they' ve just taken over but even if there's no money for a major refurb a place needs at least to be clean & tidy. Bare floor boards, clean windows, a coat of white paint inside and out and ditch the Blackpool boarding house clutter & the pub could start to live up to the location. It's a big place & a big challenge but I wish them luck.

This pub has obviously changed hands this year and the young couple running it are trying very hard to get rid of its previous reputation. Of all the pubs in this area, this is in the most idyllic location. Having walked there from Rockland staithe on a very hot day, we sat outside in the shade right by the river. There are some proper chairs and tables as well as lots of picnic benches. The lunch time menu was extensive, delicious, well cooked and cheap. The homemade burger was memorable and the ham salad featured home cooked ham. We couldn't believe that there were so few people there. Renovation work was taking place inside but a lot of work is needed. Highly recommended for its location, food and beer (Woodfords).

Where to start really, well at the beginning i suppose. On arriving out side the Beauchamp Arms on a warm sunny Friday night in early June, it looked a little tired from the outside. But on venturing inside, yes it was a throw back 20 or so years, but what the decor lacked the staff certainly made up for. We started off on the Cornish Dunbar real ale, that went down rather easily. Now onto the food we all had starters, the smoked mackerel was served up with a side salad and brown bread and butter, two who fillets on each plate!. Then onto a house home made burger i had the surf n turn burger fries and again a good sized side salad. The others had various other burgers all as good as each other in fact. I can only give this pub an excellent rating, why not try it for yourself, here is a link to their new website that is going live very soon. http://www.beauchamparms.co.uk/ Charlie

This place is in a prime location on the River Yare between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. It's an attractive spot with plenty of mooring for the captive passing boat trade with no competition for miles in either direction along the Yare. We parked our car a couple of miles away near the New Inn in Rockland St Mary and had a pleasant walk along the waterways to the Beauchamp. Big mistake. Or as Julia Roberts said in Pretty Woman in the Rodeo Drive scene: HUGE mistake. To cut a long story short, I would recommend you direct your boat, car, feet, bicycle, pogo stick or whatever means of conveyance you have to the well managed New Inn - it, and the food, looks lovely when we stopped there for a drink after this sorry episode. We arrived about 11:30am on the spring bank holiday before the place was due to open at 12. This should have been a clue - there were other people sat outside along with about six boats with people waiting. On one of the biggest pay days of the year for a place like this, any manager with any sense might have thought it worthwhile to open an hour early maybe? No. But OK: it says 12 on the door, so fair play. The doors opened and I was second in a quickly forming queue, which rapidly grew to about 15 people, which wasn't helped by the first person ordering two lattes, something that always seems to throw British barstaff into disarray. There was a man around the bar who looked like he might have been the manager who was completely disinterested and at no time attempted to pitch in. I ordered drinks and food and sat down. Considering I was one of the first to order, the food took a long time to come. We had nearly finished our drinks so my wife joined the still long queue for the bar. She eventually got to the front just as our food arrived, but there was some crisis going on with another customer as the credit card machine wasn't working, so she had to abort the order before her food got cold. The food was a real throwback to the 1970s both in terms of the lack of imagination on the menu, the presentation and the quality. A particular thing to be aware of is the chicken burger - called firecracker or similar - this is an OK burger but with a large dollop of seriously hot ketchup like substance that renders it inedible to all but the the most ardent lovers of vinadaloo or phal curries. I was also astonished to find the lady serving the food was the more experienced of the two struggling bar staff - the other one, who seemed to be on her first day was left to work the bar on her own.The queue never really shortened significantly while we were there, so we never got our second drink. I dare say many other people felt the same, and many new arrivals probably just looked at the queue and went off somewhere else, so the Beauchamp must have lost a significant amount of takings because of the short sighted cost saving of not having enough bar staff.

A lovely place to stop off for a filling bite to eat, with a large assortment of sweet and savory dishes and snacks on the menu. Friendly staff that don't 'overdo it', whilst ensuring a relaxed and attentive service. May be more pricey when ordering for groups of people, but individually it is worth the money. The selection of food we bought was recieved positively, cooked well to order with large and ample amounts, which recieved strains of 'oohs' and 'aahs' of satisfaction, especially towards crispy, flavoursome Scampi, and vinegar-coated, chunky chips. Very pleased with service, food, and cafe layout itself. Only issue is towards prices of drinks, but that can't be helped much due to inflation. All round good experience, leaving us full until the afternoon.

If you want burgers, pie, pizza, fish&chips also on our table location - on a busy food/pedestrian pass- plus a classy constant ‘C bomb’ dropping female barfly atmos - then this the place for you! Used to be great - what the heck has gone wrong? No specials, no drinks service, no enquiry as to if everything was ok (maybe too embarrassed to ask!). Great family (away from the classy barfly) ‘cafe/burger joint - but not a couples restaurant - maybe a commercial choice but not for us sadly anymore.

We had a very pleasant meal even though the service was very slow, staff were polite. Very nice atmosphere even though there was a very loud man in the bar. I asked a man who I assume was the manager that there was no soap in the ladies toilet he said he would deal with it but when I was leaving both soap dispensers were still empty so I had to use the disabled toilet. A mocca was ordered and we were charged for a Hot Chocolate and an Americano which came to £5.50, if we had known it would be this price we would not have ordered it, we queried it and were told we should have looked at the menu, there was no Mocca mentioned so we should have been informed.
