For years we have treated ourselves to lunch at the Sandringham Restaurant around Christmas, but since the Deborah Steward company ceased running the restaurant it has gone seriously downhill. This year on 28th December was the nail in the coffin! On arrival, the restaurant was about half full. The apologetic waitress siad there was an hour's wait for any hot food except for soup as they had been very busy. As we didn't want to wait for an hour, we ordered the soup. Ten minutes later we were told all the soup had gone, but we could wait for a different type of soup to be made. Half an hour later, two bowls of very good tomato and basil soup arrived, however the accompanying bread turned out to be a slice of white sliced bread each. It felt like a Candid Camera episode and I felt very sorry for the waitresses dealing with the situation. I hope Queen Camilla doesn't pop in for lunch!

I had an egg mayo sandwich and tea here over five years ago and it was STUNNING! It was soooo good! I went back today (not a local) in the hope of reliving the previous experience! OMG - what has happened to the service and quality of food. (Not to mention the hefty bill)!!! Don’t waste your money guys!! I waited over 30 mins to place my order! I asked server to keep tea until food was served. It arrived 15 mins before food - so was now cooling down! I ordered a coronation egg sandwich (egg mayo not available) £7.95 …… nothing special at all and the bread was very thick toasty processed bread! I was expecting freshly sliced home baked, for that price! Portion of fries - slightly overcooked (£4.95) Pot of breakfast tea (£4.25) / not very hot as I had to wait! Bottle of water (£2.50) What a waste of my hard earned money!

Went on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm. Checked online before arriving about opening times, but when arrived, we were promptly shown the door and said it was closed, with the most rude middle aged, grey short haired woman I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. Was the denied access to the Toilets and pointed to outside facilities only! If this is their idea if customer service at their overdressed tweed prices, then they can keep it. The whole staff need a good dose of 'Kindness and Good Cheer', and should not be in a public facing job with their attitudes. Obviously 'Sandringham' doesn't care either, given these terrible reviews have been going on for sometime now, absolutely shocking.

Very disappointed with the food for the price charged. We had a cheese scone each which was very stodgy with hardly any butter provided. Not what we expected for £5.50 a portion! On top of this you have to pay £5 to park for up to two hours. The whole place is extremely expensive with eye watering prices in the shop. Best avoided.

We came here in March 23 for a birthday afternoon tea. My first visit to Sandringham. I was expecting something fancy. The toilets were portacabins right outside the restaurant which in itself felt like a hut in a garden centre. I felt the serving staff could have made more of an effort in their appearance, maybe wearing some sort of professional uniform but instead they all wore baggy fleece jackets with the words STAFF printed on the back. Some were wearing yard boots, the sort you'd wear when mucking out the stables. The couple next to me were also celebrating a birthday and got something extra but I didn't. On the menu was the Sandringham Salmon STACK. To me a stack conjurs up something towering and tall. The photo says it all. An absolute joke all round, overpriced and underwhelming.

Terrible vegan options. Their online menu had shown a vegan chilli, but there was a different menu on the day (Easter 2024). The two vegan options were (a) tomato soup £7.95 (b) chips £5.00 - and a very tiny portion at that. Also, despite the restaurant being less than a quarter full and plenty of staff working, we were told on arrival there would be a 25 minute wait to *take our order*. It was soooooo slooooow. We saw people from two other tables complain and leave without eating or drinking, having waited such a long time for nothing. For our table of 4, the tea for two of us did finally arrive, but the tea for the other two didn't - and we had to chase this after 20 minutes when it became apparent it wasn't coming!
