The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

SADLY CLOSED PERMANENTLY. SUCH A LOSS TO US ALL. 😭 A wonderfully warm and friendly welcome here.. the food is gorgeous and you can even watch the skittles on a screen, if you can't get close enough to see! Hubby tells me the range of beers is great.. I'm just happy to see plenty of fruit ciders in the cold cabinet 😉 Good car park on pub land.. a garden too, though not yet visited due to it being a very cold March! I thoroughly recommend this family friendly, old fashioned pub with the best of old fashioned values. 😁

Great pub food in a quirky and extremely welcoming setting

Such a lovely place to go to. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Food is fantastic. Such a wonderful place. Entertainment is excellent

We were both given about 15 chips. When we questioned the waitress she said there was a party of 20 or more in the bar area which weren’t catered for so everyone was getting small portions so there were enough to go around!

Very bad service. Staff messed up our order, which would have been fine except that they made us wait an hour and didn’t apologise once after charging us for what we didn’t buy - making it seem like it was our fault when we clearly asked for something different. We were very polite about it but the staff was being very rude in return. And very overpriced for 2 stingy pancakes.

Very friendly clean and nice atmosphere

Stood at the front of house for almost 15 minutes waiting to be seated. Once seated, it was another 20 minutes or so before someone came to take my order. 45 minutes later, my food arrived and it was NOT worth the wait. I’m had the mixed grill and I was really disappointed. The chicken breast was almost non existent, more like a budgie breast. Steak was overcooked and very dry. Sausages were thin and tasteless and the triple cooked chips were somehow undercooked.

Really good eggs Benedict and a full cooked breakfast. Service runs like clockwork, staff friendly and efficient.

Great location and the music gave a good atmosphere. Drinks were not cheap and the food poor for the amount they charge eg macaroni cheese.

A beautiful old pub with fantastic timber beams and open fireplace centrally located in Old Welwyn near the church. Excellent food choices and a lovely atmosphere and plenty of beer and wine to choose from

Had a lovely Sunday roast , best I’ve had in a long time , service was great and the atmosphere is very welcoming. All the staff couldn’t do enough for you. The best place to go for a family get together in the area in my opinion.

A good friendly pub the man who served me 2 times was very friendly too. And Norfolk Oak beer was lovely
