I have visited this pub for years having lived in Milton for 20 years and visiting the village since to see family. This pub has always been one to go to for the food, atmosphere and children’s park. Today’s visit was an incredible disappointment and will be the last visit. Staff seemed miserable, the food was awful and such a disappointment. No soap or toilet roll in the unisex toilets either

The staff were very nice . Sadly the food was terrible . I would say the roast dinner meat is sliced frozen bulk buy packet stuff it was dry and rubbery and the beef couldn't even be cut with the steak knives they supply. Gravy was like water . I don't know if they have recently been taken over, But last time I visited about 3 years ago it was nice .

We went here for a family birthday and we had an amazing experience. Nothing was too much trouble, as we have a child with particular eating habits and they made sure that he was happy with everything. The portions were adequate for a family of people with large appetites and nobody was left hungry. Everything was reasonably priced and we will definitely be coming back soon.

Just awful… waited at the bar with the two girls walking past us multiple times ignoring us, while children were going in and out the kitchen. Finally got served and then waited another 1 hour or more for food. Which when arrived was cold… the pork was chewy, all the veg was cold. The potatoes were obviously packet frozen ones as hard in the middle. We would have just walked out but wanted something as had waited so long… wasn’t worth it. Tables around us all looked far from impressed. The server too had chipped nail varnish and dirt under her nails.

Sunday lunch for 5. Very slow service, food poor quality. Frozen roast potatoes clearly used, gravy watery as sin, veg stewed to oblivion and meat both dry and tough. One of our party had crispy chicken and chips, which was clearly the best meal on the table despite Sunday lunch being the only main offered on the day. Drinks were fine, albeit there was no white wine available. Cannot in good conscious recommend for Sunday lunch.

Had a family dinner there at weekend was fantastic meal great service there was 12 of us eating ranging from 2 years to 60 years old. Catered for all ages meal size and what was on offer even our autistic son who is runny about his food touching and keeping the music down just for us. Food was out of this world. Will most definitely be going again.

From start to finish the staff were friendly and attentive no obstacle was too great for them even dealing with autistic person ensuring that no part of their meal was touching and making quiet checks to make sure everything was OK with him. Food was perfect, starters were well presented and the main courses were sensational between all 11 of us we tried all the meats on offer and we all agreed the meat just melted in your mouth. The price including drinks was reasonable as well. I recommend that you book to ensure a place as they seemed to get very busy. The portions were good as well.

Greeted warmly which makes a pleasant change from other venues. I was offered a variety of choices. Without being pushed (very professional) I settled in a very comfortable, supremely clean spot. Clean toilets, I’m funny about that… Music was appropriate, and an open fire just added to the whole great atmosphere. Then, out of nowhere. Came a taster of Chefs homemade Christmas Cheesecake. This is a taste sensation like NO other. What a triumph. Delicious!!!!!! What a cracking place to spend an afternoon with a newspaper and enjoy clearly well kept top notch beer. Great staff, great beer, amazing Cheesecake, great venue… I will return very much sooner than I expected. First Class without question. Thank you chef……

Service as usual, brilliant. I sat in bar area, table for two right under tv, added bonus radiator warmed me up on that cold ice temp day. Had spicy butternut squash soup, warming not too spicy hot, served with toast. Next was a piece of Beef and Ale pie, the ale part for me was too strong, so couldnt eat it. (Seeing the fish and chips on next table - that looked much nicer). Depends on taste, quality brilliant. My dinner I had skinny chips and peas. Dessert I had chocolate tart and vanilla icecream. To drink I had coffee. Love this little pub. Lunch was amazing, thank you for your hospitality once again xx

The food here has deteriorated over the past few months, but today’s Sunday roast was simply terrible. The calamari entree was stringy and tasteless, and the roast beef main was chewy and overcooked. My wife ordered pork…and was also served beef. There was no shortage of quantity, but that didn’t make up for the lack of quality. My work colleagues have been meeting here on a monthly basis, but their recent experience of the food has been poor. We won’t be going back.

Had a great experience on a Friday evening with family! Turned up at 5pm on a sunny Friday afternoon, two adults and two children. Kids had a great time on the garden play equipment. The menu had pub classics and kids favourites. The food was well cooked and served promptly. Good deserts too. Good range of ales and lagers in excellent condition! We were particularly lucky as we caught the last day of a couple of special offers - kids eat for £1 when you order an adult meal (during school summer holidays) and also the beer festival beers for £2.50 a pint. When we left my eldest daughter accidentally left her phone behind. The pub staff immediately called us to let us know it was safely behind the bar. This is an excellent pub! Will definately be back soon.

We visited for the first time in over 10-years, on Friday afternoon (11th August). We sat outside in the garden. The food came out to us in reasonable time and was as expected, if slightly on the small side, portion-wise. What was a bit of a surprise was the cost of a pint of Guiness and a single Gin and Tonic - over £13. I would expect to pay this in a four star hotel. The G&T was around £8. That is some mark-up. Having spent over £40 for two main meals, one of which was fish and chips and the other a burger and chips, along with the two drinks, we came away a rather underwhelmed and as a result, unlikely to return to the Lion and Lamb, anytime soon.

We recently traveled over to the Norfolk Broads for a family break. We contacted the pub to see if they would be open for the Lionesses game vs Columbia. The staff opened the doors a little earlier for folk to join them in the bar and garden to enjoy the game. Both sets of fans were in the garden and everyone was made to feel welcome with a great family atmosphere created. The pub was busy and food was being served hot and prepared and presented very well. We had our 3 year old with us who had the sausage chips and beans and was very happy with her meal. We will certainly be back soon for a visit when we are in the area. Well done to all. Families in the restaurant, drinkers in the bar, everyone enjoying themselves. The food was great! I had the steak and ale pie, which was tender and rich, with a light and tasty casing. The chips were among the best I've tasted and as for dessert! The cheesecake was divine! The rest of the family enjoyed the food too, especially the kids, who got a dessert included in their meal price, which was very reasonable. Clean plates all round! All of this was served to us by happy, attentive staff, who neither kept us waiting, or rushed us to leave once we'd finished (It was busy). In fact they made us feel like we were the only ones there, chatting with the kids and amending the items we ordered (the kids are fussy eaters lol) as well as getting us extra sauces etc. I would highly recommend this place for families, especially as they have a large play area outside!

This is a lovely pub with a generally good ambience. The food is excellent. But if you want a cosy meal in front of the fabulous roaring fire you will be hard pushed to find it as that area also houses a TV screen which will be put on if other customers request it and without the courtesy of asking customers sitting right beside it. And I meant at 90 degrees at the very end of the table. This appears to be totally acceptable behaviour as far as the pub staff are concerned but seems rather rude to me, as they are unregretful. The customers who wanted the TV on suggested we ignore it... it was right there though and they'd have been entertained by watching us eat as well as the TV as they are so close to each other. The staff did offer and we moved to the restaurant but it doesn't have the same ambience as the fireside without TV. I wouldn't be writing negative feedback if they had been in any way apologetic. And I'm not leaving this feedback without having addressed the matter directly with them first either. I emailed my feedback and suggested they made guests aware they might put the TV on if other customers wished it so. Their suggestion was to ask for a table in the restaurant in future to avoid being near the TV. At no time did they or have they said sorry for having to move and inconvenience us or for not asking if it was OK to put the TV on. So, whilst there is much that is good about the pub, the manners of their staff are lacking. It made us feel unwelcome and that the staff don't care if you're not happy with something. And I have also cancelled a future booking off the back of this experience. The staff are the face of the business which is in hospitality even though it did not feel hospitable.

Beautiful old English pub with an amazing Italian flare, serving the best pizza this side of Naples! Can’t recommend highly enough. Always a warm and friendly welcome and there is a pretty garden for Al fresco dining, and plenty of free parking.

It was our first visit to the Willow Tree in a few years. We have always enjoyed the food in the past. We booked a dome for a special family celebration, an early evening dinner booking. We were "greeted" by a wholly disinterested lady (the manager?) and a few young staff who were friendly enough, if a bit chaotic. We were showed to our dome, which was charming and beautiful. One of the servers helped to set up the Bluetooth speaker and then also helped some people who just arrived at another table who kept connecting to ours! It was a shame that the menu on Saturday evening was different from the Autumn menu advertised on the website, with fewer appealing options - no pork belly, no venison, no tarte tatin. The food service was extremely slow, especially considering we were the first diners arriving in the early evening. Nibbles were brought late, after the starters rather than with the drinks. Our starters, when they eventually arrived, were delicious. The scallop dish contained only 2 scallops. The scotch egg was lovely and more generous. The mains were extremely disappointing. The steak (sirloin) was apparently very well cooked, served with fries and an absolutely tiny amount of sauce, no accompanying veg or salad. For £35 this was underwhelming. The herb crusted pork was actually horrible. Two of our party ordered this, and had to scrape off the herb crust - whole cumin seeds and other seared spices inelegantly applied in a thick pungent layer. It was a very, very unpleasant flavour. We wondered whether the chef had actually tasted this creation. The pork loin itself was nothing special, tough and worse than we would cook at home. Three people had burgers, they all said they were just fine. The portions of fries, though tasty, were terribly inconsistent in serving size some people having twice as many as others. Everyone agreed the fries were the best part of the mains! We did raise the concerns about the disappointing mains to the server, who was very apologetic and nice about it and said they would tell chef. Finally, we chose some puddings, and two of the orders came out wrong, the crumbles served with ice cream instead of custard. The crumble looked like it was served in a dog bowl. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, but very small indeed for £10 per portion. Overall, slow and inconsistent service, very poor & disappointing food, and an expensive evening. Our bill came to over £320 for 6 diners, only two people had alcoholic drinks. We were not offered any deductions for the poor food or slow service. The best part about the evening was the ambience of the twinkling domes and the dramatic willow tree in the garden.
