First time to Sheringham with the family, we parked in the The Lobster Inn car park intending to dine their later on. Spoke to a friendly bar staff and confirmed it was okay to park there. Around midday we ordered three meals off the Sunday menu, which was the Lamb Shank, Steak and Venison Pie and The Trio of Meats, all of these meals came with a Yorkshire Pudding, Roasted Potatoes / Vegetables (Parsnips, Carrots and Broccoli Tops. I have to say that The Trio of Meats was the worst dish, followed by inedible vegetables, due to them not being roasted enough, I mean, I like al dente vegetables, but all of the vegetables on the three dishes were terrible and rock hard, the roasted potatoes weren't crispy at all, neither were they roasted properly and the broccoli was even hard as well. The Trio of Meats consisted of some rubbery steak, and overcooked pork and turkey, what's more, it was meant to come with pork crackling, which I was really looking forward to, and out come the tiniest piece of crackling, a real insult. The Steak and Venison was meatless with a tough pie case, this pie was meant to be award winning...! The Lamb Shank and minted gravy was the only thing that had flavour and good texture. We were looked after by a red haired girl, very pleasant and polite, but when she asked if everything was okay, the above was highlighted, but no offer of a recovery. With most of the meal left on the plates, £71.00 lighter and very feeling very disappointed, we will never return again....!

Our small dog was even treated to a sliced up sausage which she was thrilled with. The room was immaculate. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful and the location was perfect. They serve you at the table, but you have to order at the bar. They do not speak any language other than English. That catches my attention a lot. Since in most places in the United Kingdom, in the hotels and restaurants that I have visited, they do not make an effort to hire people who speak Spanish. But in Spain all hotels and restaurants speak English. So why is there so little empathy with Spanish-speaking tourism. It bothers a lot. If in Spain the services of restaurants, hotels, etc. speak Spanish, I would like to see the faces of these English people!!

Should not have had good expectations from walking in. When ask behind the bar if they had a table free we were told I expect so. We actually found a table and ordered two Sunday roasts. I can honestly say I was not expecting such poor quality frozen produce on my plate. The beef was just sliced meat heated in gravy. I don’t know what was supposed to pass as mash potatoes. It was just a cold hard lump with a strange skin on. As it was cold I spoke to a waitress who said she would change it. The next one was no better. I can see why you have to pay in advance as I am sure a lot of customers would not be happy to pay for such a poor meal. Save your money and visit a restaurant who serve fresh meat and veg. When the Yorkshire puddings tasted frozen. Not the lobster wh used to know.

We visited the lobster on Sunday for dinner and it was rubbish, we have been to the lobster many times over get the last 12 years and this was the worst. The service was appalling, two staff in scruffy hoodies who looked like they couldn’t be bothered, we were sat down and left, they didn’t think to explain we had to order at the bar because they didn’t have anything to take our order on. The food arrived (we both had pie) and it was dry and hardly any meat in, the mash was tasteless and hard too. £30 for a cheap bottle of red wine is a P take. Safe to say after all these years we’ve had our last visit to the lobster.

Tastefully decorated clean bedroom , quiet at night despite overlooking the road . Surprising that no towel rail in the otherwise ample sized bathroom . What to do with damp towels ? The biscuits on my tray were placed in a glass and immersed in an inch of water . £25 dog tax was outrageous on top of an over priced room. The dog didn’t even receive a breakfast sausage. Logging in to the WiFi and you are asked for; name , date of birth , gender, address and email . Why is this and what are you going to do with my data? Dinner was the biggest disappointment. The pie was more air than meat and the accompanying mash was of the instant variety- a very unpleasant texture. Stingy portion of vegetables and again a very odd texture. For a self proclaimed pie champion this is quite sad. The crumble could potentially have been homemade but the fruit was , I suspect , from a can . The grubby looking table menus should have set off the alarm bells. Penny pinching never ends well , customers don’t like it. Staff very friendly but could benefit from introduction of a uniform to smarten them up . Breakfast sausage was anaemic and flavourless. Bacon rasher so small i needed my glasses to find it on the plate. Milk would have been a useful accompaniment to my cereal. Out of the six hotels on my nine night itinerary , this was the most expensive and the most disappointing. No, I would not stay or eat here again.

We were looking for a bit of last minute lunch in Sheringham. We’re not too familiar with the town and stumbled across The Lobster Inn, which I deeply regret. The fact it was empty on a Sunday afternoon says it all really, but we were all starving and losing the will. On both the menu and online they offer Sunday roasts with unlimited Yorkshire puddings and gravy. When we asked about this the waitress looked confused and said they don’t have any roasts. Regrettably I went for the closest option which was the lamb shank and “buttery chive mash”. Vile just doesn’t do it justice. The mash was like a chewy clump of playdough, except playdough would have actually had some taste to it. The portion of lamb was a joke, it was tiny but lethal and ended up giving me food poisoning. Two days later I was still struggling, my mother who had the same dish was also in the same state I was in. The children got a chocolate brownie as part of a kids meal deal. It was the size of a 50 pence coin and came complete with marshmallows and ice cream. They had one mouthful and refused to eat anymore which is categorically the first time my kids have ever turned down anything with chocolate in it. At that point I was too terrified to try any myself as I knew it must be god awful. My partner had the beef rib and said it was inedible. Wasn’t even sure it was actually beef… The worst part is that the bill came to over £150 with no starters or desserts for the adults (thank the lord) so it’s not like you could even say the food was reasonably priced. If ever in Sheringham - SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR BOWELS AND EAT ELSEWHERE. You’d have a better experience at one of the (many) kebab shops.

We ate at The Lobster one Friday evening. We were an adult family of 8, two of which were in their 80s. We sat at an outside table and went to the bar to order drinks. Whilst we were sitting outside, there were 2 children around 6 years old running around, in and out of the tables and screaming. It's not a very courtyard. As I stood up, one of the children kicked my chair, nalmost toppling it over. We politely asked the women with the children if there could calm them down a bit. Which they did. But only for The Manager to cone over a few minutes later and tell us that it was a family pub and we should expect children to be running around and occasionally bumping into furniture. We were staggered. Had that been a waitress carrying hot food, it could have been a lot worse. Or a pensioner falling over because a child had knocked their chair over. He acknowledged that this could happen. While I'm not complaining about the children, I didn't feel there was a need to come and have a word with us either. Bear this in mind, also bear in mind it's a dog friendly pub so expect dogs off lead running around too. Food was nice but we wouldn't eat here again

It was the first time staying at this establishment, we found the location to be it's sole redeeming feature. It's located in the high street just a few yards from the coast line which was excellent for walking to Cromer or Weybourne. While the room's decor was visually appealing some areas needed touching up. There were stains on the bed throw and hair in the shower. The room was very hot and despite keeping the window ajar, the room's temperature remained uncomfortably high. There was a fan in the room which was covered in dust, leaving our hands coated in dust bunnies. Due to the heat we had no choice but to utilize the fan. Unfortunately, our sleep was severely compromised by the stiff firmness of the mattress causing back pain the next morning. The breakfast service was equally underwhelming. Our continental breakfast was not provided and only materialized after we inquired about it while receiving our cooked meal. This left us feeling somewhat let down as the customer service wasn't provided. The cooked meal was average and the scrambled eggs were over cooked, the toast was hard and partly burnt however the poached egg was spot on. Given our experience, we would recommend this accommodation only for it's location.

We stopped here for one night with the dog. The room was lovely and had everything you could need. Looks like they have just been done up. It was very warm though and the fan just blowed the warm air around. Breakfast was very nice as well. We ate here on the evening, my linguine with hake and scallops was really tasty. My partner had steak and venison pie, he said it was okay but he is a pie connoisseur:). We had a great night away and really loved Sheringham. Will definitely be back

We had a family meal and everyone agreed this is a place you want to repeatedly want to come back to. The food was excellent quality, great tasting and a decent sup of ale.
