It was the first time staying at this establishment, we found the location to be it's sole redeeming feature. It's located in the high street just a few yards from the coast line which was excellent for walking to Cromer or Weybourne. While the room's decor was visually appealing some areas needed touching up. There were stains on the bed throw and hair in the shower. The room was very hot and despite keeping the window ajar, the room's temperature remained uncomfortably high. There was a fan in the room which was covered in dust, leaving our hands coated in dust bunnies. Due to the heat we had no choice but to utilize the fan. Unfortunately, our sleep was severely compromised by the stiff firmness of the mattress causing back pain the next morning. The breakfast service was equally underwhelming. Our continental breakfast was not provided and only materialized after we inquired about it while receiving our cooked meal. This left us feeling somewhat let down as the customer service wasn't provided. The cooked meal was average and the scrambled eggs were over cooked, the toast was hard and partly burnt however the poached egg was spot on. Given our experience, we would recommend this accommodation only for it's location.

We stopped here for one night with the dog. The room was lovely and had everything you could need. Looks like they have just been done up. It was very warm though and the fan just blowed the warm air around. Breakfast was very nice as well. We ate here on the evening, my linguine with hake and scallops was really tasty. My partner had steak and venison pie, he said it was okay but he is a pie connoisseur:). We had a great night away and really loved Sheringham. Will definitely be back

Sadly not as good now as it was before it was part of a chain. Food was sadly very mediocre. The chips are very big but the portions were very mean. My chips were undercooked and all solid inside. Don't do roasts during the summer apparently and didn't have what I originally wanted but didn't have it written anywhere.

My wife and I have been eating here for years, it’s our usual port of call whenever we visit Sheringham. The recent refurbishment was probably overdue, but I think that’s the only improvement if our most recent visit is anything to go by. I was surprised how quiet the place was when we walked in, we hadn’t booked, and my expectation was we would have to eat outside, but no there were spare tables inside. Whilst waiting at the bar to be served a person in front of me asked for a Coke, only to be told they only had Diet Coke. Next a family who were staying the night asked if they could open a tab, but were told no, that’s against our policy. We both ordered fish and chips and waited for the food to arrive... The chips were quite nice, but that’s the only good thing I have to say about the meal. My wife’s portion of fish was very small, mine was only a little larger, both were overcooked and tasteless. No member of staff came over to ask us if the food was OK, so my guess is having taken our money they don’t care either way. We ate our meal and rather than order a second drink, decided to leave. Maybe just an off night? Apparently not, reading other’s reviews. What I cannot understand is why would you spend so much money refurbishing an establishment and then ignore what your customer’s are telling you. Wake up! I might give the place one more chance but I’ll check the reviews before I do – suggest you do the same.

Had one of the worst meals of my life. Ordered the ribeye, requested it medium rare and what I got was a bland, unseasoned, medium well at best peice of gristley beef. Pre bought onion rings when some could have easily been done fresh, no proper table service. The only reason this is w star is because the rest of my party all enjoyed their meals and the bar staff were very friendly and welcoming. Won't be returning anytime soon.

This is a Stonegate pub, one of two main pubs taken over in the small town of Sheringham. The Lobster Inn was, up until recently, an average priced pub, and now it is over priced, with a pint just under £7.00 and a large wine around £12.00! How can they justify this rip off, in a small, local town? They do it, because the have a near monopoly with two full-on Stonegate owned pubs, and one leased out; thus fixed prices for two, and a little lower (not much) for The Robin Hood. The only local (locals' pub) is the Wyndham Arms, where their lagers are £5.00, and wine around half this con! Yet, Oliver, he manager and Stonegate CLAIM that they are comparable to other pubs in the area, and that was a false claim to a review on Trip Advisor! He (they) also claim that, quote, ''There are many other wonderful pubs in Sheringham, I hope you find one you like'', as he, sarcastically, replies to another negative review, and as one can see, there is just ONE! This is what happens when a chain (the own 3,500 pubs in the UK) take over a small town, buy up its pubs, out price the locals. It's also interesting to read that the competitor to Google Reviews (Trip Advisor) has been criticised many times for allowing false reviews and review tampering, and when reviews, that are negative, appear on that site for this pub, they mysteriously seem to vanish! Then there are the equally mysterious reviews only praising Stonegate Pubs! This pub is far too expensive, far too touristy, and not at all local, and the answer with lies.

This is more of a review of the Sunday lunch roast. Have to say £17 for one Yorkshire pudding . One roast parsnip cut in half and a thin stem of broccoli , 2 thin slices of meat and about 4 roast potatoes is definitely not what u call a roast especially for that price. Yeah you can stock up on unlimited roast potatoes but you wouldn’t have to if you actually have a plate worth the £17 . Didn’t even receive the stuffin , for the price of £17 you can easily fill up 4 plates for a family filled with a lot more on each plate than what I got on mine.

Had coffee here a couple of times over the last week and the staff seemed very friendly, the coffee is very good too. So today we went for a meal. There's no free parking apart from the 45 minute road side, so had to pay for the nearest car park ... not their fault, but it's a little annoying nonetheless. Anyway, ordering the food is also a little annoying as you have to go to the bar to order everything and pay there and then, so we ended up doing two transactions ... It's a little strange to say the least. I had fish and chips - apart from the peas (which was the worst portion of peas I've ever been served, dried and shriveled up ... almost inedible) the fish was really good and of a decent size and I could say the same for the chips. A nice mini-bowl of tartare came along for the ride, no thrills but enjoyed my meal, apart from the peas of course 😤. I certainly would not return for a meal here, mainly because of the lack of table service.

Having a holiday home in the area, my wife and I are always looking for new places to eat out as we spend about 5 months a year here and normally eat out once a week. With The Lobster changing hands recently I thought we'd give it a try. We'd booked a few days in advance so we expected to be in the restaurant area. We were put in what seemed to be the drinking area along with 2 families who had bought along dogs which barked continually for about 20 minutes completely ruining the atmosphere of the place. The food was good & the staff were very friendly. So far so good until my wife was charged 11.35 pounds for a large glass of Sauvignon. When questioned, the staff advised the cost was fixed by the brewery. Are you serious? Never again.

I would like to start off this review by saying my partner and I are not ones to make fuss, yell or be hostile when issues arise. As we know mistakes and mishaps happen. But I do believe that with those issues must come a level of organisation and resolve from the business dealing with their grand mistake. Apart from the very new girl Maya who had to deal with this (only there for two weeks and tried what she could) the business fell short and was shocking. Let me explain. We made a reservation three weeks ago for a night at the Lobster on the Saturday night, 30th March. For a family members' 60th birthday, and we are very much not locals, my first time here in Sheringham actually. We entered the pub shortly after available check in, and made to wait 15 minutes just to be seen, understandable. It was busy. But with glasses staked high and only way of check in handling the bar, it was a messy ordeal. Then a gentleman told us his manager could only be the one to check us in. So we had to sit and wait even longer, again, this was fine for now. Once we are finally seen in this busy space, the manager goes on to quite firmly scold us and say that we made our book for the night before (Friday) and they are fully booked. My partner very calmly showed his email confirmation that had the dates for Saturday as clear as day and that the error was indeed on their end. That's when the headless chicken back and fourth began. We were told to wait whilst they kept trying to get a hold of the booking team, whilst bystanders gazed and looked at us, even another couple giving their sympathies due to the embarrassment and how we were originally treated. Then finally we were told, basically tough, all seven rooms were booked and all they could do was place us in a hotel so horrendously far away as recompense due to everywhere else being booked up and we would still have to pay. We were shocked, we don't drive, I myself am disabled. It had already been so much time past since we had sat down and we were waiting for resolution. As anyone would, we said this wouldn't do. We were then told basically if we found our own hotel, we would pay the amount we originally were meant to pay the Lobster. I found a replacement at Dale's Country House (who will now ALWAYS receive our custom and are magnificent, highly recommend), and got the manager to begrudgingly confirm this was acceptable. They said they would cover our taxi, but bear in mind our purpose for our visit was to be as local as possible, as it was for my partners mothers birthday and she has limited mobility. And no one drives. After many hours we were told a cab would be even longer wait. Two hours minimum. We ended up having to wait outside the premises, as it was clear they didn't want us showing other customers one of the many messes they had made. It was clear we were an eyesore and the owner had told the manager to just get rid of us. We understand the hotel side of the business had only been open two weeks, but the women in charge of our situation was new, the booking team were awol according to her, and the owner was nowhere to be found, she had to privately call them. I truly hope that NO ONE takes on this business for a stay. Apart from Maya trying to fix what they could, It's unorganised, relentless and if we hadn't been lucky enough to be housed by another hotel, we would have been out of a warm place to be last night. And from what we are hearing from locals and others, this is not what the Lobster used to be, and they have proven to have so many more issues since. It's tarnished our trip for an occasion, and I am still not over the embarrassment of being in the middle of a crowded tiny space, being scolded for a mistake they made initially then being told essentially "our bad, but your demise" Shame on the new owner of this business, you're scaring away new custom and already the people of Sheringham that have kept it's reputation already neglect your standing as a hotel.

Had a mixed first experience when we visited for lunch on a Monday in late October. We arrived c1215pm and over the time we were there it became very busy. The positives - the real ales were good. I really enjoyed my local crab salad, as did my wife with her onion rings "side". The not so goods : there were periods when there was no one available at the bar for 5 minutes plus. My wife ordered a ciabatta with brie and red onion chutney. When it arrived, the waitress said it was brie with cranberry sauce. We immediately said that this was not what we ordered and the waitress apologised and said she would get the correct order. About 15 minutes later, the replacement was brought and my wife and I felt that there was minimal brie and that it was definitely served with sweet pickle, not red onion chutney. We had an appointment to go and there were no staff visible when we were ready to leave so I could not provide feedback at that time.

There were two bedrooms with very comfortable beds, one with an ensuite. There was also a small lounge / dining room. The cottage was very clean. We didn't do any cooking but the kitchen was very well equipt with a proper dishwasher. We had breakfast in the Pub both mornings we were there which was very well cooked with a very friendly service. We had a drink in the pub the night we arrived which was also very friendly. Terrible crab sandwich, worst ever. I asked for a crab sandwich at the bar , it wasn't listed under 'sandwiches, however it was advertised by a notice painted on the wall 'crab sandwich'. Cost £11.95, shock- as it was apparently a full lunch, (in the lunch section ??) 70% avocado , salad was a few leaves covered in a dressing, fries greasy.

Ate solo, hadn't booked, random visit. Had the crab salad - plentiful, tasty, served extremely promptly by cheerful friendly staff. Would be happy to eat there again.

Have eaten in this pub several times and no complaints until now. We both had one of their specials which was a lamb dish with ratatouille. The lamb was nice and tender but extremely dry and over cooked. Great shame

Popped down for a couple of drinks at the beginning of 40s weekend. Staff very busy but all polite and very efficient. Bernie was lovely, really very helpful so thank you! The lobster has a great team, all young up and coming talent should be given a chance. Always have a great time here. Well done to Graham and all the staff for a successful summer.

Unfortunately I don't get one. Interviewing regulars I discovered ours was one of the smaller despite, as I realised I'd booked a superior room. Moral is check your booking before entering the premises. The room was adequate but the bathroom was split WC. in one cupboard and shower in another. The basin was the size of a round tupperware container . The staff was exceptional but the room was just adequate. The Inn was full and included a number of regulars which in itself is good but we got bumped.

We’ve eaten here before and this is the first time I have been disappointed. Unsure how it is possible to ruin fish and chips quite so badly. Batter was cooked solid and tasteless like if hadn’t been seasoned. Batter was over cooked. Fish inside had turned to mush and was swimming in fat, the fish was placed on top of chips which absorbed all the extra grease pouring of the fish. I actually feel sick and unsure if I can keep all the fat down. I tried to eat it all, but ended up scraping the fish mush out from inside the solid tasteless grease batter. Chips were just packet chips, they tasted ok. For nearly £20 a plate I’d expect something nice. Beer was excellent though, hence two stars and not one. I can no longer recommend this pub to eat in.

We arrived in Sheringham on Saturday and popped to The Lobster for a drink. We saw fabulous plates of delicious looking cod and chips being delivered to diners and decided that we would visit to sample them too tonight. Well I wish we hadn’t ! We waited almost an hour and when we queried it was told someone would check- no one had said that there would be a delay and the pub wasn’t busy - later small plates of fish and chips were delivered to our table. Absolutely nothing like the ones with hand cut chips and large cod we had seen on Saturday!! It tasted ok but not enough of it for £16+ a meal. Best go to the chip shop across the road for better service and value.

What a wonderful find. We stayed here for a long weekend and had an excellent time with great food and service, nothing was too much trouble and we had a truly relaxing stay. The accommodation was clean and modern and was well priced. Thanks to the team for a brilliant time here.

Really disappointing stay. The place has become really run down. The rooms were dirty and smelt damp. The outside area to eat and drink in smelt of drains with dirty sticky tables. The breakfast was very basic with poor quality ingredients. Plates and cups were dirty. Tables inside were also sticky. Different people not all staff)walking in and out the kitchen whilst food was being prepared. The waitress spent her time telling us how poorly she felt and continued coughing. The owner has no interest in the place anymore. The food hygiene rating of one can not come as a surprise to anyone. Really disappointing as we have visited before and it was nothing like this last visit.

We dropped in on a friday night in March and were lucky to get a table for 2. It's not big but the food was great so can see why it's popular.

Went in around 2pm. Sat down and the staff looked tired, over worked and fed up. I could already tell that this was going to be an interesting lunch however I had no choice. There is no table service so you have to go up to the bar to order which feels very unprofessional and it felt like I was at a fast food restaurant. However, the food didn't come out as quick! The food took well over an hour to arrive for 4 meals. There was no apologies for the wait, the staff just put the food down and left. The food was poor. Like I've read in previous views it mentions poor quality and frozen and this is exactly how the food tasted. For £15+ pounds for mains and £7-8+ for starters you would expect them to be fresh but it is all frozen! The only thing that wasn't frozen was the salad. By the time we finished it was 3:30 just for 4 meals. We wanted another drink but did not bother due to the long queue and we honestly did not want to give this establishment any more of our money. While I was there, I did not see any form of management and was confused on how the business was functioning. While we were sitting outside we did notice that there were plates and glasses everywhere which were there for longer than 10 minutes and the outside although it was busy, it was quite dirty and was not very pleasant place to eat. Unfortunately the drinks were not good either. Way too expensive for just a larger that was served in a dirty glass. These prices were honestly a lot more expensive than what you would find in London and the quality was awful. I just hope that the owner sees the recent reviews and takes the feedback into consideration. And while sitting at our cottage we looked through the reviews again to find out that it has a one start food hygiene rating which is honestly shocking however, I can understand why.
