Excellent food, and service, made bespoke for us, made very personal by all staff, and chef’s presence and conversation was very personal, it’s been a while since we visited, but obviously new chefs as the food was in a different class, very very tasty, oysters with the side dressing, two types of Tabasco, mules mariners, the sauce to die for, monkfish curry again sauce excellent, sea bass amazing, and loads of vegetables! We will be back, many thanks 🐟

We've stayed in North Walsham with our 2 dogs. We've popped into the White Swan most days for a drink. Every time we've been made to feel so welcome. Landlady remembered our drinks order from our 1st visit. Dogs were always given treats and made very welcome even when our little french bulldog squealed at other dogs. All the regular customers were so lovely and chatted to us as if we were locals. We'll miss this place so much when we go home tomorrow. Thankyou so much for making us feel so welcome x

Visited the white Swann last Saturday for there karaoke night the gentlemen doing it was brilliant. Then a strange woman took over when her family came in to the pub and dictating what songs and who could sing she awful. When I was outside the lady came out and for some reason went up the road roaring at her dog not good for business acting like that. I work in the pub industry and never seen anything like it for karaoke night

A lovely traditional local pub perfect for a drink. The manager is completely lovely and made my husband and I feel very welcome over the Christmas break while away from our families. Unfortunately due to the December weather we didn't use the courtyard garden which has been fully refurbished during lockdown. Wish we lived closer as this would become a regular for us. Happy new year to all the staff and locals who welcomed us!

A pub that I always visit when I'm in the area. An honest, welcoming and comfortable pub. If you like cider try the Aspall. The White Swan looks fine from the street. However once inside it needs a lot of attention. Sat in the beer garden which was unkempt, ashtrays needed emptying and the aviary, which could be an attraction, needed attention. White wine was warm. Visit disappointing.

Having past this pub on many occasions, each time we visit North Walsham, we optimistically ventured inside today, with our two dogs. Well, what a mistake! The front bar was full of, what I can only describe as, very sad looking, local drinkers with nothing better to do. We ordered two simple, non alcoholic drinks from an elderly barman, before entering the incredibly scruffy, dirty uncomfortable rear garden. The landlady, was the most unsuitable person to be behind any bar.... Absolutely no personality whatsoever, verging on rude. So sad, as the pub looked quiet pleasant from outside .... we shall definitely never return

Popped in with my brother for a coffee. He says this was a great little pub a couple of years back, well known for very tasty food. It was dark, very grimy and looked really down at heel. Coffee is instant, made in the kitchen and undrinkable—one sip and we left! Such a shame to see a nice pub go south. Advise a damn good clean-up and a coffee machine... no great investment. Are these places inspected?

Unfortunately this pub is not what it used to be. The last time I visited (going back a while now), the atmosphere was brilliant! The pub was always buzzing with people from around the area. Upon my recent visit I'm appalled! The manager seems friendly and welcoming to start with, however sitting in earshot of the conversations, I could be right to suggest that he is very rude and opinionated. I brought in my own food though so not to complain, not many pubs accommodate for this. My pint was good, but the area I sat in was extremely unpleasant. The old busty barmaid didn't seem to know how to clean the work area instead of constantly talking to the customers. I'm all one for being friendly but your employed to do a job. All in all, the pub was an 'OK' visit, not one of my favourites in the town anymore though. Cleanliness of the pub could be improved, a lot.

site_logo

The manager is rude and impolite, the old bar maid seemed lazy, unfriendly and rude having a conversation with others whilst serving me. Pub was a complete mess and with the lack of customers it blows my mind how the bar maid hadn't bothered to clear up. No atmosphere, defiantly what used to be a good pub is now ruined. Will not be visiting again any time soon! No professionalism and my beer was flat. Only visited a couple of months back and the bar staff were friendly and happy with a band that I follow called bleaky and the meerkats. Got the quiet drink I wanted though as they didn't seem to acquire much custom. Bring the nice bar staff back!

A nicely presented pub with friendly staff. There is a wide choice on the menu and specials board. The specials were very reasonably priced and the menu averagely priced, Four of us ate and all tried something different from both menus. but unfortunately none of us were impressed, the vegetables were tinned or possibly frozen and sloppy with no taste whatsoever. The chips again frozen (although that's not always a bad thing) but these were tasteless too and I would say the fat/oil needed changing. Eggs overcooked on a high temperature causing the whites to brown on the bottom and crisp up. We shall not be returning here for food.

Tastefully decorated clean bedroom , quiet at night despite overlooking the road . Surprising that no towel rail in the otherwise ample sized bathroom . What to do with damp towels ? The biscuits on my tray were placed in a glass and immersed in an inch of water . £25 dog tax was outrageous on top of an over priced room. The dog didn’t even receive a breakfast sausage. Logging in to the WiFi and you are asked for; name , date of birth , gender, address and email . Why is this and what are you going to do with my data? Dinner was the biggest disappointment. The pie was more air than meat and the accompanying mash was of the instant variety- a very unpleasant texture. Stingy portion of vegetables and again a very odd texture. For a self proclaimed pie champion this is quite sad. The crumble could potentially have been homemade but the fruit was , I suspect , from a can . The grubby looking table menus should have set off the alarm bells. Penny pinching never ends well , customers don’t like it. Staff very friendly but could benefit from introduction of a uniform to smarten them up . Breakfast sausage was anaemic and flavourless. Bacon rasher so small i needed my glasses to find it on the plate. Milk would have been a useful accompaniment to my cereal. Out of the six hotels on my nine night itinerary , this was the most expensive and the most disappointing. No, I would not stay or eat here again.
