Hippodrome in Fenland

Very good value and atmosphere.

I have frequented The Hippodrome for many years and on a few occasions had to complain about my meal, usually because it was cold. Staff dealt with it and it was replaced with an apology. On the evening of Easter Sunday I ordered a meal and a pint then proceeded to my usual table (No 25) only to find that the seats had been taken by table 24 ... a very big group of friends enjoying their meal and beverages. I waited for my meal sitting at the adjacent table No 26 .. it never arrived and I wasn't approached by any member of staff to enquire if I had ordered a meal for table 25. It then transpired in conversation with various members of staff that my meal was given to table 24 ??.. why, and when I approached staff at the bar to ask if any of them possessed common sense or a tongue in their head to actually find the person who had ordered for table 25. It turned out that it was MY FAULT !! , for sitting at table 26 (immediately adjacent) to 25 and not telling anyone . The subsequent verbal exchange at the bar left me dumbfounded and lost for words.. I was given a full refund but that is not the point as to why I have given this account on the reviews. I was a long term customer of The Hippodrome and many staff knew me, but to be spoken to the way I was sand at no point was any apology given has left a bad taste in my mouth. Ps it wasn't from the food because I didn't get it.

Nice breakfast. Could do with little waste bin on tables for wet used tea bags.

If you love Wetherspoons, you'll love this place. Old cinema building with loads of old movie posters. Hotel attached. As always, food and drink at great prices.

Not the best place in March for breakfast, or any food come to that. Went with a mate for an early Saturday morning breakfast. Place was less than half full,so not busy. Ordered the large breakfast, but no hash browns, instead asked for extra tomato. We'll that was a joke the mushroom (singular) was the size of a 10p piece, two very thin and dried out rashers of bacon, two lovely meaty sausages, two very over done and dried up fried eggs, and my replacement tomato for the 3 hash browns was just a small half ! When I complained to the duty manageress she said "that's all you'll get" and @ £7.99 I'd suggest a walk up the main road where there are others far better priced and value for the money! One barmaid however was very nice and helpful....Go elsewhere folks..

For a weatherspoons this is great. Good choice of real ales. Plenty of space to sit without being crowded. A tad on the cold side though. I guess energy costs with the heating.

It's a decent spoons It's a shame that it wasn't cleaner. You expect a bit of mess being a spoons pub but there was incredible amount on the floor and tables.

Amazing service. Had an unplanned late drink with my significant other after work with my laptop, left without it and a wonderful member of staff ran out behind me with said laptop bag. Such honesty is such a rare treat. Thank you to the lovely and caring team in March!!!

The hotel is in a decent location. Room was typical wetherspoons - very contemporary. It was a little bit on the small side, compared with other Wetherspoon rooms I've stayed in, but we were only there for one night so not a big deal. We only had the breakfast so it was on par with other with a Wetherspoon breakfast experiences. Overall a decent stay.

The room was very clean, spacious and a fantastic bathroom/shower. Food and drinks in the bar were to their usual standards. Only complaint I could make and this spoilt the night, was the room was very very cold even though we had the heating up to 28 degrees, it only blew out cold air. The receptionist/staff tried on two occasions to get it to warm up but failed on both occasions. No alternative was offered.

The American pancakes were great - very filling and moreish! Love the transformation from a cinema to a Wetherspoons. Good food, reasonable prices and good service despite how busy it was. Easy to park.

Waited for our meals and complained twice about delay. When the steaks arrived, they were rare, though we ordered medium to well done. After sending them back, one came back just about ok. The other was still underdone and inedible. We had waited over an hour for our meals. We were given free drinks that no way made up for a thoroughly spoilt evening. Such a pity because the building is superb, the main reason we visited.

Service good, food far below standard (don't order turkey slice Xmas dinner as the meat is dreadful). Very noisy (loud) and busy, but really nice interior.

One of the best Weatherspoons I have been in. Have kept the Cinema vibe/decor just right.

Not being funny, if you take a child family member out to dinner you expect a reasonable time in delivering the food to table and not have to wait over an hour to get the food you ordered it. I hope the £21 odd that I played for it is worth it

Breakfast the kids had they said was nice and looked decent proportions. Drinks orders correct and delivered timely. Drawings and crayons available which is a help with small kids. Cheap prices. My only issue was the tables were very sticky and we tried two tables before we gave up and just accepted that's what its like there and wiped it ourselves with baby wipes and put napkins down.

Found the hippodrome a bit run down. Food still good. Very efficient service.

Food was medioca and not very hot...I asked a waitress for extra gravy as I usually do and I was told to order it from the bar.

Good reasonably priced food. Lots of choice. Breakfast lovely . Staff helpful. Beautiful building with lots of original futures from being a cinema making it a special visit. Another visit lunchtime pizza ,this time ,again quick service nice pizza. Reasonable price for decent meal.

Nice place, nice fresh fast food. Good service. I would suggest giving the carpets a good clean and getting the dead flies out the big light shade though.

I genuinely believe this is the nicest, friendliest place to go out for drinks in March. Had a problem with a few guys harassing my friend and I and management and staff were very quick to check if we were ok, deal with the problem and made sure we had a good night regardless. Thank you so much to the staff.

JD Witherspoon's trademark conversion of an existing building, in this case a cinema, with many original features, and decorated accordingly with old playbills etc. Real ales, including a favourite Woodfordes Wherry. Efficient staff...while there I witnessed a drunk unpleasant character dealt with politely but firmly..got the impression this wasn't a common occurr

Loverly place and food with drink.

Stayed at The Hippodrome for 2 nights while visiting Air Show at nearby Royal Air Force Base. Lovely hotel room, well furnished, very clean and tidy and well laid out with very comfortable bed and great shower. Good breakfast and breakfast menu choice as usual for Wetherspoons. Good service by friendly and very efficient staff. We will be back. Ray & Pam Dumbleton.

We mainly enjoy Witherspoons occasionally we have food that is only warm and not as hat as it should be. But this is rectified without any problems by staff

Very limited GF options, not even any bread. Was very disappointed that they didnt get behind the female world cup and I had to ask them to put it on, no atmosphere so went to the sports bar instead

Great place came here with my family

It wasn't my first time at The Hippodrome and it wasn't my best. Lighting always dodgy. It was very cold from the AC which is never good for your food. I went for a catch up with a friend. Both our orders were wrong. Mine had mushy peas when I asked for no mushy peas. My plate came back with some tracies of peas so it wasn't cooked again. My friends was the wrong salad. At least the drinks were correct. My fish and chips were over cooked and the portion size was smaller than I remember. Thank goodness for the company.

Enjoyed a family meal here. Fairly busy so waited a while for our food which was not as hot as you'd expect normally. We put this down to the staff being rushed off their feet and not being able to bring it right away. Food was delicious and staff were very friendly. Lovely building and clean. Lots of families enjoying themselves which created a lovely atmosphere.

Both meals had been left to go cold on the pass. Not good enough.

Food wasn't very hot but was too hungry to wait for another one to be cooked.

Sadly it wasn't perhaps the best reason for staying here as it was for a family funeral, but i have to say the staff were more than obliging under the circumstances for booking by splitting our stay over two rooms to accommodate us for four nights. The rooms we had were amazing (thanks Ladies of the room cleaning team ) and sorry to say it but so much better than we expected. If anyone wants to stay we highly recommend it as we will definitely stay here again if needs require.

Lovely old building restored and turned in to a great place to drink. Good selection of beer. I like the Doombar myself. Food is good too although I didn’t eat this time. Plenty of free parking nearby also. Good little venue.

We both had Currys here, ordered through my phone, my partner's said it was the best she had tasted for a long time.

I’m not a big fan of Wetherspoon, but this one has gout it right. A nice well kept building that was clean and tidy, although very busy. Staff work hard and the service is good, with prices to match. Well done

Eat and drank here a few years ago and enjoyed it so was looking forward to a return visit. What a disappointment! Food was poor quality, a long time arriving and cold. Tables weren't cleared so probably too few staff on duty.

Love the decor of this place as it's an old cinema. Very lively and vibrant place with a decent atmosphere. The food was a bit dry and shriveled, but tasted good, so I let it go. You know what you're getting in a "Spoons".

Very busy pub!! Parking is either down the side street or in the car park across the road.

Really impressed with the Hotel room,didnt expect it to be so nicely decorated,clean and comfortable. Ordered food on the app and it was a speedy service. Had a full Engish breakfast the next morning and it was delicious. Love the bar within the old cinema. Would definitely recommend.

It's a Whetherspoons does what it says on the can. A friendly place to socialise, drink and eat.

Now that they seem to have sorted some teething issues with the food side of the business, this is definitely a 'spoons worth visiting. With a good menu, a wide range of interesting beers, and regular "beer festivals" you can be guaranteed of a fun evening comparing tasting notes; and there's now a hotel attached, so you don't even have to get home! A different food "club" every night, giving discounted offers on the standard menu and a quiz night once a week just about round the place off, with the cheap prices making it a great place to start, or end, your night.

Great offers especially the Tyskie polish beer. Fab service always.

No more no less than you would expect from a Wetherspoon.

Food and drinks were above the standard expected. Staff were friendly and polite, if a little slow to serve. Would have been a perfect score if it had not been too dark and the 18-12 year old kids club running around.

Arrived and my company has messed up my booking. Ryan was so helpful in sorting it out even providing me a charger to get my phone to work. Seeing I was in a fluster he offered coffee and help. Room was lovely. Clean with everything you need and a comfortable bed. Evening meal was lovely and served quickly despite it being busy. Would recommend and return if ever in the area. Didn’t stay for breakfast as I needed to be at work for 8 and breakfast starts at 7.00. Every single member of staff I walked past or served me acknowledged me with a smile and a greeting. Great service

Service and atmosphere was great. Food tasted great but steaks were overdone and dry. Portion sizes weren't the best either

Prettiest wetherspoon's venue and the service is quite quick

I was impressed with this place. The original architecture is still very much intact and you can see that the renovations that they have done have been very sympathetically done to respect the original use of the building. On the service side, we ordered food and drinks from the app to our table and they arrived very promptly. There was nothing to complain about.

Large venue with good atmosphere. The fact that they have kept some of the history of the building is really good. Well priced drinks and seemed to be popular place to drink.

What a beautiful building it was like walking back in time in this old theate. Staff absolutely love & food was good.

Great place good food abit loud alot of people in this one great surroundings half measures again when no ice was requested weatherspoons used to fill the glass up now half glasses.

We had took me partners dad out for his birthday my partner ordered a Tennessee chicken burger which was on the menu and when it came out we got a skinny chicken burger when we complained to the waitress we were told that’s what we had ordered and we hadn’t nothing was done chips were cold and bread roll was soggy

We both had the sirloin steak with peas mushroom half a tomato and a side order of Mediterranean salad. Steak was cooked medium as we asked and was quite nice. Staff were great and overall it was a great experience. 8/10

End of indoor season competitions. Usually you can't book tables but as a group of 22, Angela (Manager) reserved a table no 21. lovely lady, waitresses were very nice. We all enjoyed our food. Service was excellent and for 22 people the food was hot. Overall a very enjoyable lunch, we shall return.
