The White Horse Inn at Easton in Suffolk Coastal

Had dinner here for a birthday meal. Managed to get me table at short notice. Pub seems very popular with locals and has a nice vibe. Restaurant area is tucked around the corner with a nice warm cosy feel. Best food we have had in a ages and for the quality at a sensible price. Staff where very happy and service was very swift. Great Experience.

This is one of our favourite pubs in a beautiful location. It’s a while since we have been here because the last couple of meals we have eaten were average and the menu hadn’t really changed. We had lunch today and I was a bit disappointed with the choices on the menu. I’m not a vegetarian but often choose the meat free option or fish when I eat out. The starter wasn’t an issue and there were several choices that appealed to me. I chose the parsnip soup, which was delicious, but found it a bit unusual that there wasn’t any butter for bread. The main course options were challenging for me. I can’t eat greasy food because of a health condition, so fish and chips was off the menu for me and the only other meat free option was veg chilli. That’s always a difficult one because you never know what level of spice it will have. I thought I would go for the sausage and mash (I only eat one sausage and take the others home) because the specials were only sandwiches. To be fair, the menu said sausage, mash and gravy, but I was still surprised when the bowl came out and there was absolutely no vegetable on the plate at all! The gravy was lukewarm and tasted like it was a packet mix not a lovely homemade sauce. The welcome wasn’t as warm as we are used to here. Such a shame and hoping we caught them on an off day.

I have been before (well over a year ago) and enjoyed both dinner, drinks outside and two fabulous Sunday lunches) but tonight the menu was a very limited fayre of traditional pub food. Settled with two very average burgers and frozen fries. Embarrassed as i had recommended the venue.

We went to this place following its appearance in The Times. It was every bit as good as the article indicated. This is a lovely pub in a charming village. The food was excellent; the staff are delightful. Well worth a visit.

Surprisingly quality food! Very interesting fusion of traditional English food with gentle touch of Asian food. Very original starters and excellent mix of tastes and spices.

Lovely location, super friendly staff and wonderful, genuine freshly cooked food. Loved it. Will certainly return. Have had many Sunday lunches in pubs and this was head and shoulders the best.

We visited twice when in holiday and both times we had a really good experience. We sampled the chicken fish and fish and chips on the first occasion and second time we both had the burgers. All our meals were freshly made, tasty and delicious. The staff were lovely as well. Thank you

Travelled a while to get to the White Horse and was not disappointed. Will be making this a regular trip as the food was exceptional and staff were extremely friendly. Came here with my partner for dinner and blown away by the standard of food. This coupled with the atmosphere and service made for an all around great experience. 10/10!

Went for lunch with my boyfriend and had brilliant service, sitting us in seats by the window with the fire on - very cosy. We were blown away by the food that came out, it looked incredible and tasted even better. Literally nothing could’ve made our experience more enjoyable, although we didn’t have room for pudding!😂

As usual the food was really good, major envy as daughter ordered the hake special lovely creamy Thai style sauce with prawns muscles and noodles, hubby and daughter went for the apricot and ginger sponge to finish, I pinched a bit very gingery, not for me but they both said it was very good, Gus the birthday boy 🐶 was made to feel welcome with a complimentary gravy bone, only down was the service which was very slow and not the normal, but we will be back and I will definitely order a curry next time!

Popped in for a quick lunch. Pub cosy and tastefully decorated with a fire going - perfect for a cold days pit stop. Food was lovely and served quickly but was really impressed with how lovely and welcoming the staff were. My husband commented on how nice the sausage and mash looked which was delivered to another table (he had chosen something else) and the lovely waitress bought him a sausage and pot of mustard as a little treat. It’s things like this that make a restaurant stand out!

1st visit and was very impressed, the food was all amazing as was the atmosphere. Lots of food which was all fresh, home cooked and tasted great and the staff and service was fabulous! 100% would recommend to anyone

Just the best fish and chips I have had .The fish was just cooked and the batter sooooo light and not greasy even the peas were sweet. We had morrocan kofta which were vegetarian and two lovely sauces .A delight wonderful service pretty as a picture location ate outside but inside looked lovely

We have just enjoyed a lovely 3-course lunch with friends and our dog. Great atmosphere with very friendly and attentive staff. I Will definitely recommend and return. Thank you.

Just had the best meal we have had all year. The White Horse has always been good but this was a leap forward. Amazing flavours and excellent ingredients cooked with great flair and imagination. My wife had sage and mustard gnocchi with roast root vegetables followed by twice baked brie souffle, sweet fig puree, granola and mulled wine syrup. I had fillet of beef, slow cooked short rib, pomme anna, confit carrot, braised red cabbage and red wine jus followed by baked white chocolate cheesecake with caramelised pistachios. With two glasses of rose and two pints of Earl Soham brewery's top bee Victoria Bitter, why travel miles when you can find food this amazing on your doorstep?

Came here on a Saturday night while staying at Letheringham Mill, which is a 15 minute walk away. Didn't expect much as it's the only pub in the village and the menu on the website didn't look like anything special. However, on arrival we found the pub to be cozy, welcoming and adhered to current COVID-19 regulations. The menu choices were a little different to the website and turned out to have more choice (certainly Gastro). We had starters and mains and all were wonderfully cooked with generous portions. Even the house wine was much better than average. If I lived in Easton I would be very proud to have this place as my local.

We enjoyed a really lovely Thai duck curry here recently. It was far better than any we have tasted in an actual Thai restaurant. My husband enjoyed a superb chocolate dessert. We have eaten here previously and have not been disappointed with the food. The pub is extremely cosy and attractive. Prices are competitive too. Staff were very pleasant, helpful and efficient. Would thoroughly recommend it.

Visited on a Thursday evening. Very impressed by how Covid safe it felt. Food was really good, fish and chips and the duck curry very good. Had to share dessert as portions are generous, again very good. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Would revisit if in the area again.

Ate in here last night. busy in the garden but quiet inside, which helped with social distancing and made us feel very comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff. I ordered Steak, my wife had the fish and chips. I can honestly say the sirloin with roasted red pepper, Garlic and smoked paprika butter was amongst the best steaks I have ever had. Never known chips so fresh, crispy and hot. Very generous portion of freshly fried fish. Dressing on my salad was very pleasant too. A great meal experience. My only criticism is that our table was a little 'sticky' on top and more so around the edges. Needs a good clean, not a spray and wipe with antibac. Shame but it won't stop me going back for the food. Thank you.

Sarah and visited 1st August 2020, Sarah had Sirloin m/r cooked to perfection, lots of Garlic on top to her liking. My Haddock was gorgeous, lovely big flakes. Sticky Toffee pudding was best ever, the toffee was divine.

We have been back to the white horse twice since lockdown. It has a great atmosphere and the food is amazing. We had the curry and falafel bites. If you are not ready to dine in, the fish and chip Friday is to die for. Best fish and chips in Suffolk!

What a lovely pub. It’s in such a lovely location and has a really warm and relaxing feel when you go inside. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We shared the chicken wings as a starter and I’ve never had anything quite like it! They were AMAZING. I had the steak and chips with a jus as a main and I have to say, it’s the best steak and chips I’ve ever had (and I’ve had A LOT). My partner had the Thai prawn curry which he said was amazing too. The wine tasted good and was lovely and cold which is always a bonus. Can’t wait to return to the area in the near future and will definitely be recommending to family and friends! Amazing visit and good value for money. Would recommend for couples and families. Couldn’t fault the service or the food in the slightest.

It’s good to be back in the pub. Really picturesque, great staff and a great pint.Food was really good, Dom smashed some fish and chips, but pretty sparse on the veggie options (only one main) for Lainey. Might be due to a smaller lockdown menu.If near the area, we’d make the effort to go back.

We had our first foray into indoor dining last evening, back at our local pub. The welcome was wonderful; it was so good to see the staff again, smiling and calm. The food was excellent, but most of all, it felt very safe with social distancing no problem at all. They seem to have cracked it; well done to you all. Gill and Mike Abbott

Had a Christmas meal here last night and I couldn't fault it. Atmosphere was excellent, staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and food was brilliant. Don't think I'll be eating anything today as I am still stuffed!If I could offer one tiny criticism it would be that the cheese (for the Cheese Board) was very cold and would have been slightly nicer at room temperature.

I really like one of the White Horse’s sister pubs for food (The Duck, Campsea Ashe) so decided to try here too. I’ve been twice in recent weeks for lunch, once with friends and once with family. The pub is very attractive, the staff very friendly and welcoming, and both times the food was very good for everyone In the party. The chocolate brownie was particularly delicious (and decadent) if you have a sweet tooth. The only slight niggle was that on our most recent visit a few days ago (so end of November), the fire wasn’t lit in our dining area, and whilst we weren’t cold as such, we really weren’t comfortable. It wasn’t the coldest of days but there was a cold breeze from frequent opening (and leaving open, due to the poor manners of other customers) of the front door in line with our table and it would’ve been much cosier with the fire lit. Still, a lovely pub and we will return often I hope.

We called in here at Sunday lunchtime. Our first visit. It is a very warm and comfortable pub with three woodburners! The lunch menu and specials offered a good choice of food. We only had sausage sandwiches and they were very good quality sausages and good bread. I think the menu prices might be a little higher than some places but the food being served to other tables looked excellent and very generous portions. I think it is probably very good value for what you get.I was also very impressed with the service we received from very friendly, polite and efficient staff.The range of beer was good and when we were there they had two Adnams beers and Earl Soham Victoria on hand pump.Overall, we were very impressed with this place and thoroughly recommend it. We will be back.

A cold Tuesday evening in November and this pub was warm, welcoming, busy with a great atmosphere and then the most amazing Malaysian beef curry was served. Well worth a visit.

What a little gem! We stopped here today for a quick drink on a damp, windy and dark day. The pub has bags of character and it was lovely and warm. The staff were wonderful and very friendly. We had a sandwich with our drink and it was very good and I went away feeling very full! Good selection of gins too!

Although the food here is always above average, on a Tuesday it is really special when the Chef/Patron's mother cooks her native Malaysian dishes. The food is excellent being spicy but subtle.The starters are excellent and not too heavy and the range of accompaniments I had with the beef curry were amazing. Add to this the reasonable price and the friendly service and it's a winner. For locals who remember the Spice Bar in Woodbridge it's like going back in time. I will return

We pulled in for lunch after visiting our daughter at riding camp nearby. Absolutely fantastic lunch, this pub has top notch chefs. We loved the sweet pepper and tomato soup, Asian prawn noodle soup and chicken satay, really hit the spot. The staff were warm and welcoming and found a cosy spot for our toddler to have a nap. We look forward to visiting again, in winter for the log fires and in summer when we can enjoy the large beer garden

A lovely charming Pub with character. The dog friendly restaurant was lovely and cosy. Biscuits and water available for your four legged friends Food was lovely using fresh local produce. Staff were friendly and chatty.

I hate being away from the family on work, but when I can find a super place to eat and relax before retiring to the hotel/ air bnb, it makes it all a little more pleasant.

We’ve never eaten here despite it being on our doorstep and after having an almost perfect dinner on Friday I’m sure we’ll be back. The welcome was very warm and the food was faultless. A sharing platter of olives, dips and bread was great. We had a chicken curry with coconut rice and a goats cheese, pea and pesto risotto. Absolutely delicious, well presented and good value for money. Dessert of apple crumble was amazing, very generous portions so couldn’t manage to finish it. The only reason I’m not giving an excellent rating is attention to detail in being aware that glasses are empty or that we were ready for our next course. Just a small thing because everything else was spot on.

If you want an interesting meal with pleasant surroundings then this is a good choice. You can park outside or within the pub car park and there is a garden at the back for a drink - there is limited atmosphere at times so not necessarily a great pub to visit with friends unless they are already regulars but the food is agreeable and the building is quaint

We were in the area with the family looking at the venue for my daughter's wedding and booked a table for 5 adults and two teens.

First visit and a faultless experience. Fantastic staff who were friendly, chatting and helpful. Always good. A very nice range of beers and wines. The menu is not huge, which I think is a good thing, but offers a very good range. We had 4 different starters, mains and sweets and the quality of the food was superb across the board. The pub is also nicely laid out with a distinct bar area for drinking, a ‘bar’ area for drinks and food and it seems dogs (personally I don’t think the two should mix but I realise some people would disagree and can’t function without their canine friends) and a nice restaurant area for those who don’t. Will certainly be returning.

We went to this lovely country pub on a Saturday evening, we shared the local Camembert to start with local bread, I had the sirloin steak with a very tasty spice infused butter on the top and my wife had the roasted cod all very nice

Lunch was great success. Two of us had the braised beef pie with vegetables and agreed it was delicious. The meat was tender, beautifully cooked and sauces. The other dish served to our group was fish and chips. This too was delicious with very fresh fish.Service was good and the tab very acceptable.

Taken over, closed and revamped over a year ago, the White Horse has changed completely in its food and service. We were looking to celebrate an anniversary and thought of the Crown & Castle (never really recovered from the chef dying in a car crash) or the Unruly Pig, where we were more than a bit put off by the demand for a credit card number to book a table. Normally, we pay for meals when we eat them, not the day before.

This pub is a cottagy old building with very friendly young staff serving delicious food and with well-kept local real ales.

We had eaten in other restaurants in this small group, The Table and The Anchor. The White Horse seems to combine the best of both: a pub atmosphere with a modern menu offering food inspired by Malaysia and the Eastern Med, alongside quality English Classics like cod and chips and sausage and mash.

Stopped here after a lovely day out at Easton Farm Park with my wife and two young children over the easter weekend. Premises were nice, staff were friendly and they had a little slide in the garden for the kids. There was also a good range of gluten and dairy free options, which is good as my son can't have gluten or dairy. What brings my review score down is the prices. £12 for sausage and mash and you didnt even get any veg with it for that price, which we didn't realise and were therefore still hungry afterwards. Would have been an extra £2.50 to add some veg on. The drinks prices were pretty steep as well , £10.80 for a pint and a medium glass of wine. Also despite advertising themselves as a family friendly restaurant there were no baby change facilities. If money is no object and you don't have kids in nappies then this place is great but I certainly won't be going back.

Have eaten here on 2 occasions, the first time I had the meat pie and it was fantastic. I also visited on. Tuesday evening when they have a Malaysian night....wow. Be going back for some more of this food. It was cooked by Malaysian woman using authentic spices to perfection. Pub also has a good range of beers and the staff are very friendly. Very nice atmosphere. I know it’s another 5 stars from me but it’s well deserved.

We attended the white horse for Mother’s Day . The food was amazing we all had three courses and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. All of the staff were friendly and service was great! We will definitely be returning!

Great food ,friendly staff, dogs welcome loved it 2of us had roasts 1 sausage and mash snd i had goatscheese tart all delishious.only two of us had dessert mine was a lovely lemon meringue roulade thank you

We visited The White Horse when staying in the area. What a surprise, we found a restaurant with fantastic food and excellent service which was second to none, so polite, helpful and attentive. We had a evening meal which we all had different and it was excellent, tasty and very well presented. Because we enjoyed it so much we returned for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. The roast was one of the best we had had and will go again when staying in that area. Advisable to book a table as it get very busy.

We have had Sunday lunch numerous times over the last few months and it has, without fail, been totally delicious. The pudding list is also amazing - the lemon possett was without doubt the best I have every eaten. The staff are always friendly and very efficient. What a nice treat it was to pop into the white horse for lunch. We hadn’t reserved a table and were lucky to be seated inside, I had taken for granted we may get a seat without appreciating how busy it is. The food was excellent, the Malaysian themed menu was great and the service fantastic. Really enjoyed it!

We went for our Anniversary while we were in Letheringham. We had eaten at The White Horse a couple of times last year and enjoyed it so decided to go again. We were not disappointed my husband opted for a starter and I was going to have a desert. We thought the starter Tandoori Fish Cake with yogurt and mango dressing was delicious. I had decided on my main until I saw the pie that my husband was having went past, so I stopped the waitress and asked if I could change. She said I could so we both had the Braised Beef Pie with gravy, mashed potatoes and veg. The beef was really melt in the mouth the gravy had a good depth of flavour and the veg were cooked exactly to my liking. Needless to say I didn't need a desert, so that will have to be next time.

Had a lovely meal at the white horse on a Friday afternoon. Everything was superb except I ordered a salad to go with my steak instead of chips. I was served with a pile of leaves which was most disappointing. Starter and dessert together with the ambience of the place was lovely. They do need to appreciate that an accompanying salad needs to consist of something more interesting than leaves though.

We Tried Chiu's Malaysian kitchen on a Tuesday Lunch time and it was a amazing. Really Tasty food - If you want to try authentic Asian food you need to visit here. We had satay for starters and beef rendang and chicken laksa .Cannot wait to go back and try out more dishes. This was our 1st visit and we will be going back.

My sister used to live in this village for a time and had visited before under previous ownership but we went together on Saturday evening and all I can say is what a fabulous place. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were really helpful and enthusiastic. Will definitely return next time I am in Suffolk.

Lovely pub in a very pretty Suffolk village. All the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Some might find the menu quite small, but they do what they do well. Personally I prefer a small menu with great dishes on, over a large menu with mediocre dishes. We will definitely return soon!

Had Sunday lunch, and have never had better. Efficient polite service, excellent roast pork and a competetive price. Just ask for your Brussels to be cooked a little longer! (If that’s your preference ) A1

Enjoyed an evening meal here with our dog who was warmly welcomed by all. Particularly enjoyed the pudding - chocolate delice with salted caramel ice cream and pecan crunch 😍

We tried out the Malaysian kitchen on a Tuesday evening and it was absolutely amazing. Really delicious - if you get a chance to try it you really should. Cannot wait to go back and try out some more dishes. As usual there was a lovely atmosphere and the staff are knowledgeable and attentive.

Had visited some months ago and had burnt pies but decided to give it another go.

On a beautiful October Sunday four of us had an excellent meal at this friendly village pub/restaurant. We couldn’t fault our food or the local beers and wine available. The staff were efficient and there was a happy atmosphere with a couple of family groups in the dining room. There were other quieter areas for those who might wish to have a more private time.

Went with 2 friends who are regular restaurant eaters. We all had the belly pork which was just delicious - best my friends had ever had. Fab waitress who was perfectly enthusiastic about the food without going over the top. My 3rd visit - can’t wait for the next.

So let’s start with the positives, it’s local, its picturesque, it has a good reputation, it’s run by a successful publican.

Last time I was here it was traditional up market pub grub ( I recollect the delicious Scotch eggs liquid inside) but seems they have a Malay chef these days and what a delight we had here last night.

Now run by the owner of "The Table" and "The Anchor" in Woodbridge. Prices are now more sensible though a little over the top for some dishes (e.g. 3 sausages and mash in onion gravy was £11), but the choice is good and the food well prepared.

We had a lovely evening. Great atmosphere and fantastic food. The service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.

Fresh Ingredients beautifully prepared. Recognisable as a cousin of The Table in Woodbridge...a reliable lunch stop. Evenings tend to be noisy but food is really good.

One thing for sure is you won’t leave hungry. Had the Sutton hoo chicken ( local very free range chicken ) which you carve yourself at the table ,and all the trimmings between four of us . All delicious, and generous portions. Enough to bring away a sizeable doggy bag with leftovers that we were all just to full to eat . First class Sunday lunch

We decided to give The White Horse a try again as its under new ownership. We visited as a couple for an evening meal 3 weeks ago and we were hugely impressed with both the quality and quantity of the food. The menu is as wide as fresh home cooking allows and the service was perfect.

Two excellent meals recently ,such a beautiful setting and I recommend the pub to all our guests in our holiday let and airbnb wagon !

Called in for lunch on the way past as my boyfriend had been in the past and said it used to be good. We both ordered a sandwich and cheesy chips each. I had the roast pork and apple sauce sandwich which was nice although the meat was cold? I assumed it would be hot? The chips were lovely. My boyfriend ordered the cheese sandwich and asked for no chutney which was ignored so it had to be sent back. Also the beetroot chutney the waitress said was in it was different to the grape chutney advertised on the menu. On the whole it was a nice lunch but a bill of £19 for 2 sandwiches and chips I felt was a bit expensive.

Easton is a lovely quiet village and sitting outside the White Horse in the early evening was a really good place to be. We had an evening meal inside and it was excellent. The staff were really good and the food faultless. Very highly recommended.

The White Horse has had several iterations in the past few years, but now that Woodbridge entrepreneur Vernon Blackmore has taken over, the pub is on track again. The menu has Vernon's signature all over it. We enjoyed a starter of sticky spare ribs and chicken satay with peanut sauce, my partner had Malaysian chicken curry while I had the minute steak. The curry was enormous, nearly too much for my partner who has large appetite: big chunks of tender chicken in a lovely sauce - he was a happy man. My minute steak was also much larger than expected, and served with a large portion of skinny fries. I was glad hadn't ordered the chili beef nachos - I saw them at anther table and again the portion was huge but I will be going for that on our next visit. The pub itself is charming, and there is plenty of outside seating. There is a good selection of beer and wines by the glass. Even on Wednesday, the pub was busy so I would recommend booking. Good service to boot!

Had a great welcome, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Not a huge menu but the food was very good. The prices were on par with lots of other pubs. Nice seating areas out the front and the back, in a lovely village location. I would definitely go back again.

Great service great pub with plenty seating inside and out with additional outside pizza oven and beer garden took my cousin visiting from OZ who wanted good pub food and environment and we got it.

Went there last night with other 4 friends on recommendation and was not a good experience. 5 people and 3 styles of glasses for wine including 2 white wine glasses.

The food was excellent with a really friendly welcome and good service. As starters delicious asparagus, wild garlic and perfectly poached egg. Mains were Dingley Dell sausages and a delicious curry - all generous portions.

2nd visit within 2 weeks for supper with friends - excellent food, good choice without silly prices and pleased to see the menu changing regularly. Lovely buzzing atmosphere - definite improvement since changing hands. Good wine selection too. Think this will now become a regular place to eat.

Whist staying at the Letheringham Mill, we booked the local White Horse for an evening meal for four. Being dog friendly, we took Alfie our Golden Retriever. The staff were great, very welcoming and friendly. The meals we ordered were extremely tasty and very filling. My steak certainly hit the spot after our country walks during the day. We would definitely go there again and recommend the White Horse if you are in the area.

Friendly staff, good ale choice, good gin choice, lovely menu, food excellent, good portion size, small menu but everything just right.

Called in here for a meal with a friend, very limited menu so both opted for steaks. £20.00 for a steak... To be fair the portion size was good, the sauce was nice. The steak was large. The steak was cooked well, but the meat was unpleasant. It was all sinewy. Both the rare steak and the well done steak would not cut all the way through. Another disappointing thing was the price for the Becks Blue. At £2.90 a bottle, it costs £5.80 a pint for the driver if they want to enjoy a "pint" with friends. I will return and try another dish as I'm sure they'll be nice. But will not be ordering the steak again

On recommendation we booked for lunch. The starter of squid was superb. For mains we both ordered the pie. When it arrived the crust was burnt, not just over cooked but Black. Being curious I sampled the pastry and it was acrid. I spoke to the waitress who apologised and as the rest of the meal looked okay I said we would eat the meal, obviously discarding the pastry and pay for just one main course. ( to be honest I actually thought they would not charge at all for the mains.) The pie filling was however full of ingredients albeit a little dry. But it should not have left the pass and served to a customer in the first place. We holiday near Easton at least four times a year. Will we eat there again, I'm not sure.

Booked a mid week lunch, our first visit here. The car park is small, and entered via a quite narrow passage way. Luckily just room for us, but suggest checking before entering, reversing out would be a pain.

Most items on the menu weren’t available. The pea soup had no flavour. Couldn’t understand why would you use such awful bread? Would like to hope that this was a “one off bad evening” and not the norm.
