Oyster Reach Beefeater Grill in Babergh

20 of us attended there Sunday afternoon for an 80th birthday celebration.... The service we received was exceptional so to was the meal.... We all had different types of roast, and they were all served together perfectly cooked and hot.... Absolute perfection.

Once again a perfect breakfast,sustained us all day.

We took our son and 2 2x grandchildren on Easter Friday and many times before. We was served by a lady called Deny and chef Joes Isophie the food was good, delicious and tasty, the service was excellent she was very friendly and polite.

We had a good evening, great food and service.

Fantastic meal at the Oyster Reach. Special thanks to Denise who served us today, nothing was too much trouble! We will definitely be back.

Drinks were offline! Order at bar. Food was fine. But nothing special. Service was friendly. Served a purpose.

I got to say I was very impressed with the service and quality of food and drinks The staff went above and beyond for us a party of nine, originally we were told they couldn’t accommodate us at such short notice but the staff went into overdrive to fit us in and we were sorted, I can honestly say the staff are a credit to the company, very friendly and so helpful, The food was excellent, I would highly recommend

This place was attached to the premier Inn next door. Work had organised the accommodation and added a meal deal so were eating breakfast and diner here. The food was fine. Nothing over special but tasty none the less. Enjoyed the breakfast and all the meals I personally had although a colleague has an under cooked chicken one night. With some of the food,drinks and dessert an extra cost had to be paid if wanted under the meal deal. The service was fine, some staff friendlier than others but none were rude. The food always arrived without too much of a wait and a good temperature.

Went here before the Ipswich v Sunderland football match. Disappointed in the food, very basic, and smallish portions. Service was good though.

Went to the oyster reach from my son's 23rd birthday.book the table for 6 sat down. Nice big round table. All clean tidy server came across order drinks then ordered food is very good. Choice of two courses. Three courses or 4 courses. Good selection and also good allergy card. What was given to my daughter, food came out hot. Very nice. Good value for money. Went to the restroom. It was clean. It was tidy. . plenty of hand soap and sanitizer. Overall 9 at 10. The glass had lip stick mark on round top ,so the glass wasn't washed properly but the server came straight over and replace the drink and a glass and everything was good, we were very well looked after by the server who took the menus and brought off food over. Think her name was Denise but she was very good. A credit to the oyster reach ,

Went on the 27th of December for a family meal and have been stuffering from mild good poisoning since. The first server left us sat there for close to 30 minutes before taking our drinks order, we had to chase up twice with him and his coworker before we got the drinks. Left for ages again before our food order was taken, this time by a different server. Most of us got our food around the same time but they forgot to put in one guest's starter order so we had to wait again for thay to arrive, then one main came out about ten minutes after the rest. The plant based festive roast was disgusting, everything was over cooked and REALLY over salted. The potatoes looked like they'd been cooked a few days ago, left in the fridge, and then chucked in the microwave for a couple of minutes. The plant filet and veggie sausage were burnt and dry and tasted horrific. Not my choice to have gone there, will be asking not to go there again.

Very helpful & friendly staff when we had the Unlimited Breakfast. Also very considerate when dealing with my (very) temporary access problems.

My mum's car broke down on a cold winter morning in the oyster reach car park, she's waiting for the AA which as alway ETA gets later and later and she can't start the car. The oyster reach refuses her a table to have a coffee to keep warm on a -1 morning, absolutely disgusting

Good place for a beer or food. It's warm in there as well. Usually takes a long long time to get served at the bar if only having drinks. And when you do get attention,the routine of pouring and serving and getting to pay for,say, 3 drinks individually is long and laborious,though quite enjoyable.

Party of 10 catered for, and everyone enjoyed it. Generous portions, and all things considered, not too expensive. Possibly could have been a little quicker, but the place was full, and all our food came at the same time.

Excellent fillet steak and prawns, cooked today for us by aveto and jaz Denise as always excellent customer service and today it was busy and she was on her own, but was cheerful and checked we were ok.

Went for the Xmas dinner and I must say it far surpassed my expectations! Lovely turkey, not compressed roll, crispy roasts, Yorkshire pudding and a good selection of veg. For a chain pub it's the best I've had. The staff were very helpful. The waiter said they were surprised how popular this meal has been. Having tasted it, I'm not surprised. Highly recommend.

We came as a group of 10 on a very busy Saturday morning. Food was wonderful, perfectly cooked. Staff were so busy yet still efficient, and really accommodating, it was impressive to see how hard they worked. Thoroughly recommended.

Our family of ten decided to have breakfast here which was absolutely excellent. Cooked breakfast or continental could not be faulted. Open choice and eat as much as you like. Service was also excellent and made the whole breakfast experience very enjoyable indeed. Will definitely visit again.

Good meal, friendly atmosphere, well served by Denise. Good value food. A decent bitter would have been welcome, but the Guinness was fine.

Denise was the member of staff allocated to take our order, and she did it with efficiency, was extremely polite, and was happy to advise on the chefs version of rare/medium rare etc, important to me as I ordered a ribeye steak. Denises’ service was swift, and again efficient throughout the meal which was excellent and one of the best steak meals I have had in the UK, surpassed only by grass fed Argentinian beef! However, it was quite clear that this beefeater was suffering from the Whitbread disease of being short staffed, too often to be a coincidence and a shortcoming obviously imposed by the higher management in their quest for short term profit at the expense of long term loyalty. Your choice Whitbread, but you’re treading on sinking sand. Denise and the chefs, Greg and Sophie produced and served a first class meal in a professional and polite manner, a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Came here for breakfast on Tuesday. It was amazing. I highly recommend this place… perfectly cooked, fast service. Just amazing.

Had a late start today so thought I'd pop into the oyster for a coffee. With the nice relaxed atmosphere, I thought I'd say for the breakfast they offer . For under a tenner , you can eat as much as you like including cereal and pastries ( as well as a good fried breakfast ) I wasn't staying at the hotel either !!!! Friendly staff Julie and Shane were really efficient and genuinely welcomed my custom. All on all a superb stop and a great start of my day .

Staff & food were spot on as usual but we were asked for last orders at the bar at 21:30!!! Website states bar is open until 23:00???

Seemed run down when I visited here for lunch - worn, dirty furniture, huge bar/restaurant almost empty, intrusive muzak and I had to go and find the one person serving. However, she was friendly and helpful, there were a couple of vegetarian options, our order arrived quickly and was excellent.

Stayed at the adjacent PI and tried a breakfast here. It was a very average effort and IMHO not worth the money. Opting for the cooked option was not great. The fried eggs both had hard yolks, the sausages had leathery skins and the mushrooms and black pudding were cold. The coffee was great as was my plain yogurt. The service was slow and not very cheery. Would I come back? No.

As returning customers and members of the Beefeater Loyalty Scheme, we were not disappointed. Denise our server was excellent as usual. Food was great and we tried a couple of different dishes which were delicious. Spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming.

We rarely have a bad experience here but the food and service tonight were exceptional. Both Denise (our waitress) and Greg (our chef) are an absolute credit to Beefeater.

It was pretty busy but our server Denise was very attentive she served drinks & took our order quite quickly . The food came out piping hot and well presented & the steak was perfectly cooked , compliments to the chef Fiona. Their loyalty card is worth having too, the special offers are very good.

You can’t go wrong. Always love the breakfasts here. Great food at reasonable price with a great service from friendly staff.

Fantastic service yesterday lunchtime at the Oystereach as usual. Me and my wife treated ourselves to fillet steaks and they were absolutely delicious. Lovely environment and great atmosphere.

Met a friend today for lunch and decided to give the day time menu a go. All I can say is what great value! We had 2 courses for £12.95 and left with full bellies! I had the chicken curry and caramel apple Betty, both...

Went to this pub without booking a table at 5.10pm on a normal Sunday to be told I’m sorry we can’t seat you we have no tables until 8pm, you haven’t made a booking. Myself and a friend looked around to see multiple empty tables and the car park half full. The bar was empty and the outside area had one group of people drinking. we asked to sit in the bar area for food and was told no we have had over 200 orders going through the kitchen and we can’t accommodate you for two people for you in the bar area as we are short staffed. I have just logged onto my phone to see that I can book a table for 7pm for 2!! The guy serving us in a red checked shirt was clearly lying and was very hesitant when reading the screen and explaining they had no tables until 8pm. This is extremely poor customer service, considering we could book online and were turned away. This is my local and I will not be returning.

Me & my sister treated ourselves to a well deserved Sunday dinner after the Ipswich Half marathon. Great service and huge meals, which neither of us could actually finish! Nice friendly restaurant.

No one bothered to serve us. Asked if there was anyone to take order, then told had to order at the bar!! No notice to that effect anywhere! Only 2 of us in restaurant and still forgot to bring the tea we had ordered with the meal so had to go and chase!! My friends calamari was inedible and a few nachos with a bit of melted cheese for my meal was £5.29..... very overpriced!! Certainly won't return here again as standard of staff and food was not what one would expect from a Beefeater...

The table and floor area was dirty ( this was in the bar area) . We only got chips and they were ok but very small portion . The waitress bringing the food was very friendly and pleasant but getting served was a nightmare, it took ages as no one behind the bar , I know it was a Wednesday night but thats not the point , there should still be staff ... It was quiet in the area which was nice .

Had a lovely meal, went for the set 2 course meal, great value for money, good choice, partner went for the steak was cooked to perfection. Would recommend and will be returning.

Lovely pub, always a nice atmosphere with good service. Food is hit and miss, wouldn't recommend the nachos but the fish and chips was lovely.

Met a friend here for a drink and wanted to sit outside due to the lovely weather. The garden was totally disgusting, tables had not been cleared, flies were buzzing around left over food, there was a nasty smell in the air and the garden...

Very disappointed that there was no roasts available in the afternoon on a Sunday. I presume you only serve them lunch time which wasn't stated on the menu

I think the bar staff nearly smiled. Stared at by other staff outside smoking when we arrived. Zero atmosphere, full, smelly ashtrays on every table.

Very slow at the bar . limited staff is the problem.

The food was OK but nothing to write home about, but if you have a voucher with a decent discount, it may be worth it, but otherwise, there are plenty of better steak houses out there. Our server did everything from seat us, take our order, made our drinks and dessert. At one point, he was even cooking in the kitchen as the main course was taking a long time to arrive as the cook's couldn't be found. The server was great (hence a 4), but we won't be returning.

Went for food here today,haven't been for a few years and was very disappointed.....salmon overcooked.....avacado brown and mushy....replaced with avacado that was warm and tasted off....all on a bed of dry iceberg,wasn't even asked how everything was at the end of the meal

Shared a lunchtime meal with friends last week. Downstairs restaurant a little dated in decor and any kind of ambience (maybe needs a little background music) but maybe its better in the evenings? Menu was decent for meat dishes as expected, other choices a little limited. However the food we ordered was very pleasant and staff were attentive and very pleasant. Would likely visit again.
