The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Came in for a drink and food for the soft launch and safe to say I can't wait to come back once they're fully open! The crab burger was fantastic and my group was welcomed by lovely team members

We've used this pub as a ramble lunch stop a few times, as well as this one. Staff helpful when I made the booking - and on our arrival, nearly an hour early! This was because we'd come by train to Potters Bar, intending to go on to Brookmans Park by rail replacement bus. However the bus was delayed so we decided to start the walk at Potters Bar instead - meaning a shorter morning walk. Very well looked after by the friendly staff and we all enjoyed the delicious food.

I love this pub. The Moon and Mushroom is a real find. The charming old building has a lovely atmosphere, and the courtyard is great when the weather's nice. Our kids always love to visit, which speaks volumes. Their Sunday roasts are excellent – really tasty and satisfying. They also do a decent coffee, which is always appreciated. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. It's also worth checking out their events throughout the year. We've enjoyed the dog show and the Christmas carol singing, as well as several of their murder mystery evenings – it adds a real community feel. If you're after a relaxed, family and dog-friendly pub with good food and a welcoming vibe, the Moon and Mushroom is definitely worth a visit.

This is a very convenient location, just left of the exit from Carpender’s Park. The restaurant seems to be clean, and there are a few tables to eat in. The prices are reasonable and the portion I received was massive in comparison. The food was fresh considering I visited between lunch and dinner which is always appreciated. I don’t have other fish and chips restaurants to compare it to in the area.

Double bed suit is nice for the money. Nice continental breakfast in your room. If we are back this way we will definitely book the King's Head again. Only down side is we arrived on Tuesday after a 4 hour drive we arrived at 15.00 but couldn't book in until 17.00 One last thing £18.50 for a small frozen fish and chips and £18.50 for a small burger and not so nice fries. Way too expensive for the quality of food served. But that is my only moan. Would book again but would eat at the Gardeners arms down the road. The food was superb.

Really happy that we found this place and we will 100% be returning. The staff are really friendly, the beds are amazingly comfortable and the shower was great! What sets it apart though is the outstanding quality of the food. The fish and chips would put Harry Ramsdens out of business! And breakfast was on another level. I really cannot fault it. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Went for an evening meal with family. All the food was cooked to perfection and the girl working Ashleigh was an absolute breath of fresh air

We were asked what we wanted to drink before we had chance to sit down. We asked if we could have a couple of minutes and the guy never came back. After a group had their order taken who arrived after us i went to bar to order drinks. We then got our order taken. Had to swap my seat for another one as mine had lumps of food stuck to it. Food was ok but it used to be better. Place needs a deep clean and needs some tlc. Spot light above table was hanging out of fitting. Toilets were bad. The sign said speak to staff but noone was on the desk opposite the toilets. Sad to see its gone downhill.

Wonderful. Service was fabulous and very attentive without being intrusive. Food was delicious and beautifully cooked. Very good choice on the menu. The pub is cosy and pleasantly decorated. it was my Brother in Laws birthday and was a great experience and they even gave him a free desert to celebrate his birthday. Will definitely be going back. Thoroughly enjoyable!
