Went for Carvery on Tuesday at 5pm, but no Beef,no Chicken, no Lamb. Staff said it was all eaten at Sundays carvery.Only Turkey and Pie left, WHICH IS NOT A CARVERY.Then chose Pork Belly off main menu, and they were out of that as well. Absolutely livid,and close to walking out, but Wife talked me out of it.Ended up with boring Burger and Chips. Was going to have desert, but decided not to in case they had run out of that as well.Went home and ordered desert online from Creams.Wont be going to the Plough again.

Our go to local. Overall good. Good service and choice and nice ambience and decor. Busy in pub area but that's ok on a Sunday afternoon! Roast potatoes excellent! Just bits on the food please..chicken pie was too dry. Gravy helped. Kids fish and chips two fingers seem mean! Maybe a bigger child portion? Apple tumble had sprinkling of crumble, put more crumble to apple ratio! But overall good. We always go back.

Visit this lovely establishment on a Regular basis. Staff very friendly and can't do enough for you. Food is absolutely gorgeous and we are working our way through the menu which so far no complaints . Thank you to all staff and see you soon.x

The four of us enjoyed Saturday lunch at the Plough. The food was excellent with a good range of dishes on the menu. All the staff were very efficient and attentive, including our friendly server Victoria who helped in our choices from the inn’s menu. The designer restaurant and marquee are both welcoming and comfortable. Well worthy of a return visit!

Came for dinner with my parents and my niece who was over from France. None of them had been before and were impressed with the choices available, prices and the quality of the food. They all said how lovely it was and they would happily eat here again.

I had my Dad’s wake at the Plough yesterday. Everything was perfect. We choose the buffet which was delicious and plenty of it along with the unlimited teas and coffees. I would recommend this. I’d like to thank Victoria and her team for their great efforts on what is a difficult day.

Went on a Sunday night for our 12th year Anniversary. Excellent food and wine choices available.Staff were very friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed our food and wine. Thoroughly recommend and we be revisiting very soon.

We were served by George and from the moment we arrived till the moment we left he was amazing! My daughter is only young and has additional needs and struggles with sit down meals, he made sure that we had things to occupy her so we could eat without the stress of her running off and playing up. He made us feel at ease and the meal wouldn’t have been half as nice or half as easy if he hadn’t have served and been as amazing as he was! Thank you so much George you really made a hard day into a much better one!!

Excellent, first time here, service was super - server I think was Victor! - really nice guy. Roast was excellent best in the area, ample portions of meat, meat was great! so so tasty! all vegs, pots and other was excellent, great quality and fresh 100% Will certainly come again! 10/10 Thank you Plough!

The whole experience was reasonable. Getting served was a bit of a problem. They needed another waiter/tress. Menu is fairly standard with all the old favourites. There is an alternate menu giving quite a saving and again gives a decent variety of dishes. Ordered the fish and chips from the cheaper menu and while the chips were excellent the fish was poorly battered with the batter not bubbly or crisp. Had the Eton Mess for dessert and enjoyed the big offering. We will go again.

Lovely Meal again with superb service from all the staff. Victoria was so apologetic about the shortage of staff due to sickness but this did not impact the service at all.

Local to our hotel, lovely decor and friendly staff. A few things were not available on menu, but still plenty to choose from. All meals arrived in good time and tasty. Will use again if in area.

Thought it was very mean to charge £1 for a small portion of ice cream when we were told there was no custard left. Also I believed you overcharged us £1 on the bottle of wine

We were a party of 11 after attending a funeral and had changed the time of arrival twice, but The Plough was very accommodating even though they were fairly busy. The food was very good and can recommend the steak and mushroom pudding, salmon and liver and bacon. The service was excellent.

Family group booking for 7 for Sunday roast carvery. Food choice & quality was fab. Chef serving the carvery was great. Waitress lovely, friendly & helpful.

Lovely place.. just rather expensive.. wasn't expecting the bill to be so high.. drinks on there on was 4 pound od for soft drinks. Food was okay but little dried out due to being sat for a while under heat lamp

Just home from a lovely family meal for our granddad's 90th birthday, there was 24 of us and we're seated in the gazebo outside, which we were worried about at first but it was lovely and warm and perfect for our big group. The food was lovely and we were served by Lewis, he was amazing, couldn't have wished for a better waiter, spot on! Thank you so much Lewis, we all had a great time!

Had a lovely birthday dinner the starters were lovely I had garlic mushrooms in a creamy sauce with garlic bread my wife had a prawn cocktail also very good. Our mains were full rack of ribs with chunky chips and sweet corn and fish and chips both were excellent. All in all a lovely meal plus the atmosphere was nice.

This afternoon we went to the plough to celebrate my friends birthday and throughly enjoyed our afternoon tea, which was very delicious freshly prepared sandwiches, amazing chocolate cake, selection of small cakes followed by freshly made scones with jam and cream and off course lots of cups of tea Served by the amazing Gordana who was so helpful Can't wait to come back

sadly traveled to this venue. arrived about 1pm. I had checked on the website for opening times I had tried to phone a few days before on arrival it was closed so a birthday lunch was spoilt. would really have liked to try this place sadly wont be revisiting.

We sadly weren't able to eat here as planned, because contrary to what was advertised on Google, it is not wheelchair accessible. We were very grateful to the staff member who called and made sure to speak to us before we had set off, as otherwise we'd have had a disappointing and embarrassing experience trying to meet friends in a pub where my husband can't use the toilet after a 90min drive. We're also not convinced there's step free access from the photos although would be glad to be proven wrong on this point. Management, please sort it out - you have a legal duty to provide reasonable access and toilet facilities for disabled guests.

16 of our family celebrated my husband's 80th birthday at The Plough. The evening ran smoothly in the very capable hands of Suzanna our server. All the pre-ordered meals came together - quite a task !! I would not hesitate to recommend The Plough, it will remain out favourite place for such an occasion. Thank you once again to all the staff. Service was great, the food was cooked nicely but could have been hotter. Will definitely be going back.

Food was ok, carvery just as expected but the plates are SMALL! Service wasn’t too bad, but could’ve been faster. Most upset about the Guinness though - it fell way short. Wasn’t cold enough & had a head over 2cm. Parking was generous. Outdoor space is a bonus. Plenty of seats. Overall not bad, but could’ve be better!

Been visiting the Plough since I was a teenager and was a beefeater at the time. Went with family for pre xmas lunch. Food was excellent, 2 carveries, one burger and Salmon plus puddings. Service was excellent. Couldn't be more helpful. Now our place for pre xmas. Well done all. Merry Christmas 🎅

What a difference a year can make! We booked here for an early Christmas family lunch as last year it was so good. Not so this year. We were five adults, one 5 year old and two 3 year old. The place was very busy. We ordered drinks which arrived after a short delay. We then ordered our food and asked if the children's starters could arrive first. The adults starters arrived and after chasing the children's they arrived 10 minutes later. This set the tone for the whole meal. Trying to get the waitresses attention for anything was almost impossible. We had to ask for Xmas crackers. We decided not to have dessert and tried to get a bill. After the rest of my family left I finally managed to get the waitress attention. She asked if we had enjoyed her service, I had to reply no as I feel we didn't have any! I understand they were very busy but they should cut down on the number of bookings if they don't have sufficient staff. She then said twice service is not included. Sorry but as we didn't get any service she didn't get a tip!!

A disappointing meal for my fathers 86th Birthday. A large number of dishes were missing off the menu, but no member of staff felt it worthy to tell us when we sat down. So when we are asked if we were ready to order, the Lamb Shank that my mother wanted was off the menu. This is where the trouble started! My mother changed her order to Hunters Chicken, she has had this many times at this venue so didn't study the menu. However when the dish arrived, it wasn't what was expected. Hunters Chicken is usually half a Chicken, which is how it used to be. We have been to the Plough many times so was surprised it had changed, and not in a good way. When it was presented to us, we were shocked! Firstly because it wasn't as expected, but the actual presentation was poor, as it it had just been thrown on the plate along with a scoop of chips. Even worse was it was over cooked and dry, any sauce had just disappeared. I explained the situation to the waitress, who then got the "Manager" her answer was totally unacceptable. That was to take it away and get my mother another meal, in doing so this would have meant the rest of the party eating their meals whilst my mother sat there without a meal. It would have taken about 15-20 mins for her "new" meal to arrive, by which time we would have finished and my mum would have been eating alone. Not once did the Manager offer to correct things, either, take all the meals back and repeat the order, or just agree to take the meal for my mother off the bill. Neither option was presented, just a stock answer of let me get the menu and I'll show you what it says! Oh then the chef came over and asked what the problem was. I explained and showed him the chicken, what's wrong he asked. Shocked by his question, I told him it's dry and just poor quality, also you're a chef you should be able to see this, you think this is acceptable to go out of the kitchen! After some rude exchanges I told the manager lady that I'm not paying for my mothers, admittedly she ate a small amount of it, but she didn't enjoy it. So eventually after taking umbrage she agreed to take the dish off the bill. To be frank this whole situation could have been avoided by, 2 things, 1. telling us when we sat down the items missing on the menu, and 2. not arguing with a paying customer in the middle of a busy restaurant. Some customer service and hospitality training would not go a miss. In fairness though the Salmon that my father and I had was very nice and cooked to our liking. This isn't the first time we have had a poor experience, but this time we won't be back!

My visit to The Plough last night was so lovely. We were served by Gordana and she was so lovely, friendly and attentive. Its was a quiet night and due to the weather it was a bit cold but the food was Delicious. Both of us chose the carvery from the varied menu as I do when I visit some Sundays and, each time it is stop on.

All the waiters were superb. Especially George. Promote him! Food excellent. Compliments to the chefs. The owners must be so happy with their staff.

Good food , nicely presented. Clean & tidy comfortable chairs! pork and schnitzel a little over cooked but nice flavours. Very friendly helpful attentive waitress. We ate from the Christmas menu. Would be happy to return. Good set price.

The Plough in Hemel Hempstead is excellent. Great atmosphere, delicious food and staff who are efficient and have great customer service. As a family we regularly choose The Plough over any other restaurant. They were so helpful when catering for a birthday I organised for my husband.

Came here for Sunday lunch. Food was great. All staff were very friendly from the minute we walked in. Our waiter on the day was George. I can't speak highly enough of George he was very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for him. It really makes a difference when you get great service and we definitely did today. The staff were a fantastic example of how to treat diners, giving advice on the most awkward questions on the food available and any choices on a perfect meal.

Visit on a weekly basis. Food and service is always excellent. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful, Victor is a quality guy that goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great time.

Had sunday dinner here. Good but not great for the price

We were a group of four & were very well looked after by Amie, who was really polite & friendly. She was attentive & courteous, took our orders easily & accurately. The food arrived hot & great to have the food served on warm plates aswell. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals & will definitely be back :)

It has been a very long while since we last visited the Plough, however, the food, service and overall welcoming and accommodating attitude of all the staff was outstanding. We will be back much much sooner. A great place for a family get together. 10 /10

Food was really good. Waitress was lovely and helpful but service was a bit slow and a couple of people in our group didn't get their orders quite right.

Had dinner here earlier and instantly thought it didn’t look great or taste right , been home and been sat on the toilet since…ordered half grilled chicken and it was literally served to me 5 mins later..there’s no way you can cook chicken or reheat it that quick Been here a few times in the past & it hasn't been great but today is the last time I’ll be visiting there or recommending it..

We had the most lovely family meal at The Plough today, our server Gordarnia was so amazing and helpful from start to finish, the food was delicious, we had a great time!

We had lunch here today and we were warmly served by Gordana who was kind, funny, welcoming and very present throughout the lunch always ready to help us, chat with us and also she guided us through a though choice between cheese cake and apple crumble desserts! Food is very good and huge portions as well! Thanks a lot!

Outstanding service! We are visiting from the US and we really enjoyed this pub.

A good spot for lunch - just minutes from the M1 - when driving north. We were initially surprised by how many cars there were in the car park, but the pub turned out to be very busy, even at 1pm on a Saturday. A good menu of British pub classics, inc roast pork belly, and fish & chips, and good puddings too. Clearly very popular with the local community!

Wonderful spot! Had the Sunday carvery with friends, food was really delicious and our server June was extremely friendly and caring!

We’ve just had a lovely meal here for my wife’s birthday. Our waitress Rebecca was very friendly and welcoming. The food was very nice, as was the wine too. Ok, it’s a little more than we’d usually pay for a meal out. But you get what you pay for, and in our opinion it’s worth the extra. All in all a most pleasurable evening made better by the friendly bubbly waitress Rebecca. We will be returning again soon Dermott & Elaine.

Food was okay, just okay. Expected better if I’m honest. Peppercorn sauce was soo watery. The service was good tho.
