The Plough in Dacorum

It has been a very long while since we last visited the Plough, however, the food, service and overall welcoming and accommodating attitude of all the staff was outstanding. We will be back much much sooner. A great place for a family get together. 10 /10

Food was really good. Waitress was lovely and helpful but service was a bit slow and a couple of people in our group didn't get their orders quite right.

Had dinner here earlier and instantly thought it didn’t look great or taste right , been home and been sat on the toilet since…ordered half grilled chicken and it was literally served to me 5 mins later..there’s no way you can cook chicken or reheat it that quick Been here a few times in the past & it hasn't been great but today is the last time I’ll be visiting there or recommending it..

We had the most lovely family meal at The Plough today, our server Gordarnia was so amazing and helpful from start to finish, the food was delicious, we had a great time!

We had lunch here today and we were warmly served by Gordana who was kind, funny, welcoming and very present throughout the lunch always ready to help us, chat with us and also she guided us through a though choice between cheese cake and apple crumble desserts! Food is very good and huge portions as well! Thanks a lot!

Outstanding service! We are visiting from the US and we really enjoyed this pub.

A good spot for lunch - just minutes from the M1 - when driving north. We were initially surprised by how many cars there were in the car park, but the pub turned out to be very busy, even at 1pm on a Saturday. A good menu of British pub classics, inc roast pork belly, and fish & chips, and good puddings too. Clearly very popular with the local community!

Wonderful spot! Had the Sunday carvery with friends, food was really delicious and our server June was extremely friendly and caring!

We’ve just had a lovely meal here for my wife’s birthday. Our waitress Rebecca was very friendly and welcoming. The food was very nice, as was the wine too. Ok, it’s a little more than we’d usually pay for a meal out. But you get what you pay for, and in our opinion it’s worth the extra. All in all a most pleasurable evening made better by the friendly bubbly waitress Rebecca. We will be returning again soon Dermott & Elaine.

Food was okay, just okay. Expected better if I’m honest. Peppercorn sauce was soo watery. The service was good tho.

One of the best steak in the area

I've been coming here to The Plough for many years....mostly eat in sometimes taken away... Today had a lovely roast dinner with my son....everything was absolutely delicious fresh and excellent!!... staff are lovely always a service with a smile and treat you with great respect... My server today was a young man called Louis..he was lovely... Well recommended gastro pub!

Victor was very polite and helpful. Food was really nice. A group of 14 people which included small children and nothing was to much.

I am not usually a fan of a carvery but the food here was amazing. The beef was really tender. The service is also great.

A nice, place to eat good food

We ordered food and the food did not come in the order in which it was ordered. One of my cousin ordered fish and chips, salmon and a kids burger - the salmon and kids burger came along with some fish and chips. The fish and chips looked rather small for an adults portion and didn’t have the advertised Tartare sauce. A friend arrived after us and ordered 30 minutes after us. 30 minutes after the small fish was delivered to the table - an adults portion appeared, which should have been a kids fish and chips! It seems that the adult portion came out 30 mins after the rest of the order and that my cousin had been given the kids meal instead. We spoke to the staff and my cousin was told she had eaten the kids meal so she had a meal! My cousin pointed out that she paid double for her meal! The staff member went away and came back with £7.50 on a plate in coins and said well that’s the difference! No real apology! Food wasn’t great anyway - corn on the cob was obviously frozen veg and the peas were rock solid! The kids chicken burger was hard and not edible! Won’t be visiting again.

Lovely place to eat. Nice atmosphere. A group of us dine once a month on a Monday when over 55s get 25% off during the day. 10% the rest of the weekdays.

So the Plough... It's kind of my elected local, there are three if not four other pubs nearer than the Plough, but we choose to come here, and this is why... 1. The staff are really sweet. We've always (apart from once, see below review three yrs ago) been met with smiles, warmth and good humour from staff serving us; 2. The food (that I and the people I've gone with) is really good. 3. The price is decent (enough not to threaten a remortgage strategy lol) 4. Local enough for us to walk over when weather permits. Since the review below, I be been back with various people and mostly with my wife, a handful or so of times, and I'd say all these times within the last 8months to a year. Each of these last visits have been so much better than before (below) so they must've upped their game-face, because I (we) have rekindled our love of this gastro pub. Well done landlord/ landlady, and thank you for some really good times! (Still not too happy I never made it into your Facebook page after conquering the Henry VIII burger though 😂😜) Don't think I could manage one anymore ...😬🫀❤️‍🩹😅 The below review was written by me, wow...3yrs ago according to Google. Didn't enjoy it tonight... The front of house staff were sweet enough, hence the lone star; however they'd made no attempt to put right the mistakes they'd made. We waited an inordinately long time for our meal (over an hour), and we feel it would've been longer had we'd not quizzed them when our food would be arriving. The table next to us came in a good 10 or so minutes after us and they got their food before us. My wife ordered california salad (which supposedly included "skinny fries") the fries didn't show up until we asked where they were. I ordered pork belly which the menu said included pork crackling and apple jam. Neither of these came in my dish, even after I'd specifically requested they made sure I get the crackling. Weirdly, I got a handful of peas thrown in on my plate that were hidden in the mash. I ordered bread n butter pudding which I (wrongly) presumed would be home made. It was pretty dire. Our evening was only made pleasant and bearable due to the chatty lady and her carer sitting across from us. The Plough has historically been such a great place to eat for me, I've been in there on at least 8 or 10 occasions over the last few years for numerous birthdays and anniversaries, either with friends or with family and had always loved it, so this evening has left me really feeling really disappointed because I chose to come here for my birthday tonight. Don't think I will be visiting again for a long while, if at all now 😞😞😞

I had an amazing first-time experience at Plough for a birthday lunch. The food was fantastic, every dish was delicious and well-prepared. George’s customer service was outstanding, making the occasion even more special. I highly recommend Plough and will definitely be returning!

Great place to go for just a drink or something to eat. Extremely friendly staff. Nice decor an clean. I went with my partner an mum, we all chose different meals, that were all excellent, we were served by a waiter called victor, he helped us choose what to eat and even recommend the wine, he was such a happy, friendly guy, he made us feel very welcome, every pub should have a victor. Will definitely be returning.

As a regular here I was totally shocked by the undercooked fish we were both served this lunchtime. The mature waitress just removed the plate with the food on it without apologising. She came back 5 mins later and asked if we wanted anything else and we said the bill pls. Still no apology and when asked if she told the chef, she said she had. End of story. Not only does my husband visit once a week but we recently held a wake there. Totally shocked by the experience today.

Very tasty food. Friendly staff, free parking and cozy garden atmosphere. I recommend the Wednesdays, the best steak deal.

It was a great pleasure to dine on a fillet steak accompanied by sweet potato. The experience was exceptionally delightful. The staff demonstrated remarkable friendliness, the place was clean and very cozy and the food was served with commendable promptness. I definitely recommend this place.

Secret Gem Of Hemel Hempstead. Tucked away in the serene surroundings of Leverstock Green, is The Plough Pub and what a Gem. Although the place is bookings only, it is well worth coming here for great British cuisines. As soon as we stepped in, we were met with warm smiles from the staff. Our lovely waitress escorted us to our reserved table. Every member of the team was so friendly, especially Viktor, our server, who truly made our visit memorable. Let's talk about the food - it was simply divine! The Plough has now become our second favorite dining spot in Hemel. The roast potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and delightfully fluffy on the inside. The carvery meat was incredibly tender, and the carrots was on the slight hard side but never the less perfect meals through out. We were so grateful that the staff listened to my pre-request and seated us in a peaceful section of the pub. We also loved that the tables were nicely spaced out, allowing each group to enjoy some privacy. The music was just right, and the cozy, slightly old-fashioned decor, adorned with witty signs, really brought a smile to our faces. A big thank you to The Plough for an absolutely wonderful experience! Sadly these day's don’t often see a proper Traditional British Pub, great to see The Plough carrying on with this tradition and adoring the Union Jack on the Menus as well. Suggestion for the pub! A British 'Plough'mans. Yet to try their Takeaway Service, more information later on.

My husband and I went to The Plough for his 46th Birthday on Sunday August 11th about 12:30pm. We rang up earlier to book a table. We were greeted by the lovely Assistant Manager, a lady with glasses and awesome tattoo's. She was REALLY polite, she showed us to our seat and gave us our menus. The GM Vasi then came over and introduced himself. My husband and I both went for the Carvey, I had a pint of fruit cider and my wife had a San Miguel. The food was REALLY REALLY tasty, the meat was succulent and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. Vasi came up half way through are meals to check if everything was ok. (Which it was). We then ordered a dessert, an Eton Mess, again this tasted amazing. Exceptional Food, outstanding service and to top it all off as it was my Birthday, Vasi gave us the dessert for free !! We will DEFINITELY be returning and will be recommending. WELL DONE !!

Hey there, I just had to tell you about this incredible place I visited in Leverstock Green called The Plough Pub. It's an absolute gem! The staff were so welcoming and friendly, especially our server Viktor who made our visit unforgettable. The food was amazing - I can't stop thinking about the delicious roast potatoes and tender carvery meat. The ambiance was cozy and the decor added a lovely touch. I'm so grateful that they accommodated our seating request and ensured we had a peaceful and enjoyable time. I can't wait to visit The Plough Pub again and maybe try their takeaway service too. Also, I think it would be awesome if they introduced a British 'Plough'mans dish on the menu!

Lydia was very helpful and a good representation of the restaurant. She was very attentive to our needs and checked back regularly.

The staff were excellent but seemed a lot stretched by the number of covers. Food was decent if not mind blowing, would go again if in the area.

We are visiting in the area and found this on google maps, the food was lovely, really good value for money, we ordered 3 main meals, a pudding and a few alcoholic drinks each and it was less than £100. The staff are all lovely and friendly, we were served by Viktoriia who was lovely and pleasant. If we are back in Hemel we would be happy to return.

It's ok, Sunday roast was delicious however there was a very long queue. The brownie dessert was atrocious, it had a very odd flavour.

We stopped here on the way home yesterday. Was going to go to another pub nearby where we have eaten before but ate here instead. It may not be as cheap as some pubs these days but what I liked about it was that the food was home made and that’s worth paying a bit extra for I think. The service received from their new Trainee, Maria, was friendly and efficient. Overall, I enjoyed our visit. I liked the pub, the food and the staff. Plenty of parking as well.

We went there for dinner and the food was briliant. The staff is very helpfull and on top as my wife has sulphites allergy and they offered advice about dinks and food.

Met with a friend for lunch. Good service and food. Friendly people. The outside dining areas were a bit in need of a clean and TLC, so we ate inside. Which was a shame on a sunny day. Food was pretty good, and our choice of wine was very acceptable.

Excellent experience, the food is fresh and full of flavour, staff really nice, the garden area is huge and nicely decorated, planing to host a party there❤️.

Lovely food at the plough! Our waitreds Viktoriia was really lovely and interacted nicely with our little boy as soon as we came in. Great cocktails too! 3 starters and mains! With a lot of drinks!

The children’s menu is so overpriced, ribs and chips £10.95, a cookie for dessert (it came with a blob of ice cream) was £4.45, so a 9yr old meal cost £15.40!! My fault for not checking the price but children’s menu is normally priced well. Also a small portion of fries for me was £4.25!! The staff were friendly, service was a bit slow despite being very quiet. Food was average.

We had a large family get together dinner at The Plough on the 30th of June . The staff were really attentive yet left us to enjoy our evening. The food was well presented and delicious. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and inviting. Everyone was pleasantly surprised at the final bill as it turned out to be a good value. Overall a fun evening out in a local restaurant.

Well-cooked food at a reasonable price. A choice of seating areas inside or in the sunshine. Light and airy dining room. Efficient and friendly service from Victor. We have visited several times and will certainly go again.

Am a regular customer for the carvery and other meals, but today was the first time trying out the afternoon tea and wish I’d done it sooner!!! This has to be one of the best value afternoon teas in the area and far exceeded my expectations for the price we paid. The scones were the lightest I’ve ever had and the Victoria sponges were also like air. A lovely mix of other sweet treats and pastries on offer too, including a lovely rich chocolate cake all washed down by unlimited tea. Those in the group who’d only ordered the basic cream tea rather than the full afternoon tea option were amazed at what they were presented with, having just expected a cream scone tea on its own. Doggy bags (well cardboard boxes!) available to take home the leftovers too when the sugar rush got too much 😊

It was a quiet night and atmosphere was subdued. Food was good, a little pricey, but decent quality. Service was ok.

Booked for dinner with a friend on a Wednesday evening - found it was steak night, so we had the Rump Steak deal for 2 which includes extras and a pint each. Excellent tender steak, really enjoyable and great value.

Great food, great service, friendly warm atmosphere. A little bit more than we would usually pay if we had gone elsewhere. But definitely worth the extra, and we will be returning again soon. Our waiter Victor was nice too congratulating us on our 25th anniversary of our first date there. (21yrs married since then) 🙂

We came here today to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary, the food was outstanding as was the service, our server was called victor and we couldnt fault him, he made us feel very welcome and taken care of.

Lovely pub that welcome families and pets - there is both indoor and outdoor seating and some parking round the back and to the side. The staff are friendly - only had chips which were great.

Booked for a Sunday dinner, and unfortunately it was not a good experience. Waited 15 minutes to be served at our table just for drinks, in the end had to find someone as our waiter went to every table but ours (2 tables he went to around 3 times each). He had a table that kept asking him questions, but then only concentrated on them for whole time. Then had to wait around another 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive. The meat on the carvery was so dry it was inedible that 3 out of 4 plates left all their meat. We would have told our waiter but even by this time we still hadn’t even seen him as he still hadn’t even come to us. By this time he had been to the tables around us multiple times. Told the manager about our meal who was really lovely, and she took two meals off which was really appreciated. We then had to wait for another 15 minutes because our waiter STILL hadn’t come to see us! Then went to see the manager again to get the bill and told her we still hadn’t been served by him and even she was shocked. Unfortunately just not good service or food. It seems if there is a table who wants constant attention other tables near them get completely ignored.

I went there special for a Sunday roast and I do recommend this.Sunday roast it’s like a mini buffet with lots of vegetables sort we had roast beef, ham was incredible delicious chicken and lamb.Also very nice team ,well done for a professional service George has attended our table and explained what it’s in Sunday roast menu included and what not. Was very quiet for a Sunday but lovely and relaxed, victor our waiter was friendly and pleasant. Ordered carvery which there was a choice of 3 meats along with 6 different vegetables Out only one little critiscm about our meal is it wasn’t that hot However we enjoyed our meal and would certainly visit again

Had a table booked for two for 5.15..lovely seating area, near an open window, love the bright interior, plus the beautiful sunny day topped it off! We were served by Victor, service was prompt, but not over bearing, we left at 6.15...also good if you have little ones.. you want a prompt service, nothing worse than slow service when you have little ones who want feeding 🙈😂 timing is key! Always a good atmosphere here,
