Nice atmosphere friendly efficient staff good food but salad selection has reduced since we last visited a couple of years ago

Tonight started off as a very nice evening at the Harvester. The waitress as always, very good, despite the fact that it was busy . The manager however completely lets the staff down . I feel sorry for the staff that they have to work with her . She said her name was Zana ( not sure if that’s true as she would not let me see her land yard ) I have NEVER had a member of staff be that rude to me . I used to go there once a month , but I think it’s time to go elsewhere. Disgraceful behaviour from management.

Our server, Julie, was extremely helpful at dealing with our order and ensuring that our son’s allergies were catered for.

Need to improve on there ribs tasteless. Not marinated at all

We have often visited this Harvester and previous occasions food/drinks has been very good. Unfortunately on this occasion which was Friday 7th February 2025 visit was not good. Restaurant was cold although heating was on. My partners coffee was cold and sent back. Food very poor. Chips reheated and burgers had no sauce and very dry. Rolls at salad bar,also very dry. The only reason I have given any stars is waiter was very good and polite and looked embarrassed by poor quality of everything else

Very good service, could pick our own table and prompt to serve us. Layout very good, salad bar well equipped & good choice selection, Charles very nice and helpful and we weren't rushed at all. we could pay cash or card & bought over machine for the card, very clean & would definitely give a higiene rating of 10 stars & very clean toilets.

I use harvester at Hemel Hempstead Herts I have breakfast on most Fridays the breakfast is very good and good value for money it better than brunch cafe in town . harvester staff very nice and friendly .

Julie was so lovely and helpful. Shane there's not more waitresses like her around made our lunch at the harvester enjoyable

My friend didn't want sauce with her skewers but the chicken was dry. My food was fine. Could have been a little hotter. All restaurants seem to have this problem not just Harvester.

First table we were moved as not big enough, (our choice) Was moved to the table close to the kitchen , so noisy doors were banging. Also, no heating we had to cover up with our coats. Spoilt the meal otherwise food wax ok staff always good

The food from the Harvester in Hemel Hempstead is always very nice indeed without fail. Always cooked really nicely both when you eat in the restaurant or if you order a takeaway. One of my families favourite dishes is the triple sausage medley, a very nice addition to the new menu. The restaurant staff are all very friendly and helpful as well. You are made to feel welcome which a lot of other restaurants overlook. I would highly recommend The Harvester Hemel to all and am really looking forward to going back.

We have been coming here for years and years and regularly at that. You simply cannot beat this place for value for money. We NEVER have a bad meal. Ever. And for a meal with the included salad and a refillable drink it’s not much more than a McDonald’s these days! Menu has decent variety, staff are friendly and efficient. Even at busy times we still get food relatively quickly. Don’t really know what else to say, it’s just brilliant value for money in my opinion and we have been hundreds of times over the last few years

We booked this as a Christmas dinner out on the Festive menu. Very disappointing then to have no turkey or salmon. Service was good but it won't bring us back I'm afraid.

I have already filed a complaint using the email address at the bottom of our receipt but I’ve heard nothing back. We were shown to our table but as it was pushed up tight against the wall we moved it out a few inches so we could eat without banging our elbows. Doing this revealed a disgustingly filthy wall and skirting boards! How an eating establishment could let the eating area get this dirty is beyond me…. Anyway, we ordered our food and then waited half an hour for it to arrive. My guest had the 1983 chicken combo and I had a chicken skewer. My guest found her chicken to be undercooked and very pink in the middle and my skewer and chips were cold! When we mentioned to staff about the pink chicken they were quick to reassure us that it was normal to be pink inside!! We were so taken aback by the complete denials that we totally forgot to mention my meal was cold!! (There was a couple behind us who sent their food back because it was cold, so I know it wasn’t just me!) We then ordered a dessert and my guest asked for 2 forks so I could have a taste. When it arrived our server presented us with 2 spoons saying they had run out of forks. Have you ever tried eating a waffle with just a spoon? It’s not easy!! There were no beers on tap, only lager or craft beer so even our drinks were not what we wanted. Overall, a horrendous visit and one we will not be repeating any time soon! I have pictures of the wall and skirting boards if you’d like to see them but unfortunately the lighting prevented us from being able to take a decent picture of the chicken where you could see the pink.

We went here on Friday night after picking up a friend from the airport. The staff were very friendly and the food was up to par. We would definitely go back again.

Stone cold , order 4 salad items and sauce ,ended up with all the salad i don’t eat and no sauce , freezing cold chips and ribs.

A good Harvester, good service, food and salad bar. Free parking, but log in at reception. Just been back again for a fourth time, still good.

A great experience with tasty and fresh food. The service was friendly and attentive, and the prices offered good value for money.

Family meal, Last night was the first time I’ve been to harvester and although we had to sit in the bar as we didn’t realise we needed to book a table, we were made to feel welcome and Jess behind the bar was brilliant polite professional and good with our two little boys. Food arrived quickly and I was pleasantly surprised would definitely go again. Thank you Jess

Waited too long after being seated to order drinks and food. I had to approach a member of staff to ask if we could place our order. Salad bar items dried out and bread rolls dry. Food came out fairly quick after ordering and was ok. Toilets smelly. After everyone ate and shared idle chit chat for several mins, no one came to clear our plates. Again, we had to approach staff to ask for the bill and they began clearing the table when we got the bill. Couldn't be bothered to order dessert as the service was so poor.

We went to the Mallard for a friends birthday meal on Friday, we were greeted & served by Linda who was amazing throughout! She was cracking jokes with us, quick to take our orders & empty clear plates, checked all the food was alright & made our visit absolutely wonderful, thanks Linda! The food was really nice too and we had an overall great time😊

Everything went so smoothly - I spoke to the management team and our waitress regarding special requirements and any possible issues that may occur regarding our party - everyone was so attentive and understanding. The food and drinks also were great, no complaints and any amendments were deemed no issues to staff.

Jessey the bar staff was really nice ans was very respectful ehen me and my partner are going though a rough patch

Our server Sarah was absolutely amazing, she made us all feel really welcome and gave us great service. One of the other servers Linda i think she was called was very helpful and took our desserts order when Sarah was busy with another table she was very lovely lady. The food was delicious and well presented and we all enjoyed it. We recommend a visit here especially when Sarah and Linda are working

Went to harvester tonight for my Grandsons 13th birthday. We were served by Zarah, a charming, polite young lady. She was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Great people skills. Please let her know of this review. 5* customer service Liz

Typical Harvester, staff looked overworked and fed up, clientele were your usual familys and busy mums and dads, staff were busy but trying hard to keep up with the Saturday rush. OK for a quick bit of food but nothing special. Drinks are pricey and the salad bar was frankly awful.

Chips were cold, chicken was cooked with some sort of chilli which wasn’t on the menu and I can’t eat hot food. Coleslaw was made with old cabbage which was practically brown

Food was very good for a Harvester, they were quite busy but we didn't wait long.

I had a veggie balance bowl and the veggie chicken alternative was unfortunately rock hard. It was crispy in my mouth and you could knock it on the bowl. They did offer me some halloumi but that was also overdone and burnt on one side. By this point, my friend had finished hers so I didn't wanna make her wait anymore. I think the dish is very pricey for what you get! Her chicken skewers were bone dry. It made me glad to be a veggie. I enjoyed the normal salad but our mains let us down! Wasn't appetising. Service was good though.

Update 28th Oct. Another lovely meal. James the waiter was great, particularly as the place was packed. The food is great for this type of formulaic restaurant. Good, basic popular pub grub. Highly experienced and friendly staff, so welcoming and efficient. Amazing value, especially if you subscribe to offers in their app or online. Not fine dining but thoroughly good value and highly recommended.

I'm American so take this will a little grain of salt but loved the atmosphere of the establishment but the food could use a bit more seasoning and spice. Would recommend to first-time foreigners

The food was cold and over cooked. I always order the chicken stack and today it was awful. No chicken gojons just chicken chips which were dry and over cooked.

Avoid on deliveroo. Order arrived stone cold and missing two pots of gravy. Refunded £9 which just about covers the fees and delivery so £39 spent on freezing cold inedible food for a birthday treat after a day at hospital. Fab ending.
