Not been to Waltham abbey for many years popped in The Angel for a drink staff were very friendly looked clean with a happy atmosphere will eat next time as menu look a traditional pub food. Nice to see a old pub pub....

This is a great place to meet up with friends as there is no loud music to interrupt conversations, the food is delicious and a good variety at very reasonable prices. We like it esp for the friendliness of the staff, they make you feel at home with them at The Angel.

Great food went for roast had chicken veg excellent great home made roast with trimmings and friendly atmosphere 😋

Stopped doing baguettes don't want toasted sandwiches with chips so won't be going back was in there every wk about 8 of us so we loose out and so do mcmullens

Food took a long time to come out, was lunchtime and friend was on work break but it was very tasty. They provided a vegan option which was great. Very warm and cozy lounge. Staff helpful and friendly. Would go again and recommend it to others.

Good pub grub! Just had a vegetarian lasagna- wow! Reasonably priced too. Relaxed atmosphere, no loud music so could hear what my companions were saying.

I visited Waltham Abbey today and went into this pub by chance. It’s lovely! It’s really well decorated and the bar tender, Jo/Joanne, I can’t remember which, was one of the nicest, friendliest bar people I have ever met. I had a couple of drinks which were perfect and very reasonably priced. I will definitely go back next time I’m close by.

A pleasant pub with a reasonable selection of drinks and a pub food menu. We enjoyed our drinks and Sunday lunch.

Nice local pub which is still set out in the separate public and lounge bar set up so it's nice to have the choice. Cheap food and entertainment nights. Small outside seating area at rear with TV. Very pleasant and popular.

Popped in for a pint and found it to be very friendly. Missed the food as I had already eaten. The beer was excellent

We visited for Sunday lunch without a booking. The staff were delightful and the food was delicious.

Brilliant garden in the Covid restrictions bar staff was very helpful and friendly one girl called Emma is slightly strange but very attentive and friendly would recommend it.

We stopped off here at the end of a country walk on Sun., 19 April, our first visit to a pub since December 2020. We'd never been in here before but will definitely come again as the McMullen's ales were top notch and the service was very pleasant and attentive.

Lorry driver just passing through, not been in here for a few years. Very friendly staff and thr real ale is very well kept, looking forward to my return after lockdown.

Very much a local McMullen's pub. Sunday Roast is very good value with no processed food, everything freshly cooked, Staff amazingly friendly. Still has a Public and lounge bar. I would recommend a visit.

The smallest portion of fish and chips I have ever had: a very small bit of battered pollock with no more than half a dozen chips and a small dollop of mushy peas and we had to wait a full hour for our meal to arrive! I sure won't go back there

Cosy, warm and welcoming on a chilly day, this delightful pub in the centre of Waltham Abbey was just what we needed. Friendly and efficient service from the two young men behind the bar, with excellent beer (AK recommended) and delicious fish and chips. Very reasonable prices. Will definitely come again.

We were recommended the Angel by the lady running the shop in the Abbey church. There were lots of pensioners eating in here, but age, experience and a limited budget means this is a very good sign- the Angel was great VFM and the food was home cooked and the service friendly and welcoming- you won’t go wrong at the 😇 Angel

I spent four days in Waltham Abbey, probably everyday I sit in front of the Angel. The street is quite, just few people walking around. The service is perfect, no push, no ask to have another drink.

Popped in here on Sunday for a pint. Never been here before and what a lovely surprise. Thought it was like coming into a big sitting room! Very cosy and was very warm. Lots of people were eating lunch but we just drank. Lovely barmaid served us and highly recommend:)

Very welcoming, lovely staff and genuine people; it's as comfortable as being athinge and a very cosy atmosphere (lounge bar) The v other bar is as comfortable and welcoming, With 2 bars it caters for all, i hear nothing but excellent reports about the food from many many people, I will try very soon and expand on this review.

The Angel is very much a neighbourhood pub with no frills but friendly staff and regulars who seemed to be enjoying themselves. Food is good, hearty stuff - but beware of the portion sizes. I had as a starter potato wedges with chilli and cheese; it overflowed the plate and made me regret having ordered a main course. Fish and chips turned out to be two large battered fish and a mound of chips I couldn't finish. Washed down with very good beer, I couldn't eat for 24 hours. Happy experience, though.

Its a sign of the times nowadays what with depleting customers and pubs closing that managers are held to ransom by its only regulars who feed the local community copious amounts of white nostril medication. This pub is a refreshing exception. The strong positive leadership behind the ramp gives confidence to customers who want to come out to a trouble free pub and enjoy a good pint, and this robustness keeps the dealers away from holding their nightly surgeries. Sure, the kitchen is not Michelin starred, nor does it profess to be. But take into account the regular entertainment, exceptional fundraising events and weekly quiz night (with free food buffet!) this place definitely scores high as an overall all-rounder. I don't go there often, but when I do it never disappoints.

Worst meal I've ever had. Food is not fresh at all. The burger was disgusting and the bread was stale... keep away from this place
