The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

Fantastic little cafe!! Don’t normally write food reviews on TripAdvisor but considering the last 18months we’ve all had, I think more people need to pay RT’s a visit. Excellent food and great staff to go with it. Will definitely be back!!

Lovely atmosphere, really friendly staff. Food was amazing and really well priced with a great selection for vegetarians and vegans!

Never go anywhere else to eat when visiting town, in fact we make a special trip just for our lunch. All the food is homemade and the specials are top notch. If the Corned beef pie is on the specials then that is a must!! The atmosphere is welcoming, friendly and that goes for the customers and the staff and the owner/chef is a great guy!

Unfortunately this has now closed, and is a home. SAD to say as was a fantastic tea room. I believe it has been closed for a year or so and property was sold.

Qué encantador pub tradicional con una gran bienvenida amable. La cerveza Buttcomes bien vale la pena probar, yo tenía la pinta 5 G, muy bueno. Todos teníamos comida que era muy buena comida tradicional. Totalmente recomiendo mirar el pub.

Hemos visitado este encantador establecimiento muchas veces ahora y nunca dejar de disfrutar de la bienvenida amable y comida fantástica! A quien visito con siempre comentar sobre el menú variado y apetitoso, la forma en que el personal hace todo lo posible para hacer que su experiencia gastronómica sea la mejor y simplemente me encanta el ambiente cálido de la zona de comer real! Siempre ocupado con la devolución de comensales satisfechos y la reserva es ahora una necesidad... recuerde solo efectivo! Extravagante y acogedor ... recomiendo encarecidamente a cualquiera que ame las comidas frescas y caseras sabrosas servidas con una sonrisa. Amazing breakfast - generous portions, and high quality ingredients, with great tea and coffee too. The owners were so friendly too, and lovely indoor heated setting if required. We went based on the recommendation of others....and they weren't wrong!

I came here for a wedding celebration, and it was a perfect place to hold it. Not too big, not too small, a decent selection of drinks (including a Swedish IPA!). The staff mae sure there was enough seating as the evening went on and there seemed to be a constant supply of chips once the food came out

This is my local, so maybe I'm a wee bit biased. But it's a great pub, and the food is fantastic. All the staff are very efficient. The seating is very comfortable. It's a relaxing place to go. A bit pricy, however.

Absolutely superb Sunday lunch. Large dish of seasonal veg to share betwen us, and a large portion of meat on each plate, plus roast potatoes, 2 Yorkshire puddings and a large boat of gravy. Everything was piping hot and beautifully cooked. For afters there was a large selection of home made puddings, which were offered with custard, cream or ice cream to suit. The pot of tea was really good too. All in all an excellent meal for 2 for under £35.! Will definitely return, and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes good home cooking style meals, rather than tiny portions of artistically arranged food served on ridiculously large plates! The location is quite remote though, and my Sat nav didn’t identify the right building from the postcode, so it might be better to put in Stockerston Rd Allexton instead, and look out for the sign opposite the driveway. The tea rooms aren’t open every day, but the opening hours are on their website.

A surprising and totally charming tea room with wonderful staff in period costume. More than this it goes beyond simple nostalgia as it serves a beautiful community purpose with period photos and objects donated, gifted or obtained locally. Just ask how the cafe was conceived and you will understand more. It’s also bigger than you think with a nice garden and mock-up Anderson shelter. The period newspapers on the tables are a wonderful touch. The food was very good and reasonably priced.

What a great find, found this place on the way to the coast. Had breakfast which was delicious, a very generous portion. Would definitely recommend this for a lunch or coffee stop. Whether you are driving, walking or cycling you will get great customer service. Thanks ladies and keep up the great work. Will definitely be back
