What an experience. Staff: The perfect balance between being attentive and pestering. All staff on shift came to us at the perfect times and frequency. Not too early, not too late. They were so approachable, talkative and lovely. Drinks: Good selection, delicious and cold. Reasonably priced. Food: Now I’m a food guy. Worked in hospitality for decades, own venues, but this food was quite possibly the best food I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. I had the ribs which were delicious, the meat flaked off the bone, barely any fat and the portion size was impressive. Loaded fries were a strong portion with amazing flavour and quality. Definitely not stingy with the ingredients! Side of buffalo wings…Enough sauce to have a pint of after your meal. Definitely not stingy, just the right amount so you can enjoy every bite. I finished it all with zero regrets. All in all I won’t go anywhere else in town now as I have zero complaints about here. See you next time!

First visit on a quiet thursday with a few groups dining in the bar. I was greeted by a very helpful lady with a beautiful smile. The simple menu appeared to be all their own, home made and carefully thought out. The very attentive gent prepping the food was equally informative and helpful. Simple home made food served with care. One to remember and try again some time.

What can I say about this rude landlord who couldn't admit how bad his microwave food was. Rice was rock hard ,chicken pie was more like soup pie. And where was his rating for hygiene? Which was 3 by the way.

This is most definitely the best pub with the best food in Louth and probably Lincolnshire. Marlon and Gemma are superb hosts. The food is delicious. There is an excellent choice of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. I can’t recommend The Boars Head highly enough. Go if you get the chance and definitely try the jerk chicken or a roast.

We came here twice for food and drink and we were not disappointed. On both occasions the meals we were served were delicious with very generous portions. The services was really good, all the staff we met were friendly and happy to seat us with our 3 dogs. Hopefully we will be back in Louth again so we can come back!

Delicious vegi option for Sunday lunch which was perfect in every way. Lovely cosy pub with a real fire at each end. Very friendly and clean. Can't wait to try the rest of the vegi menu options. Thank you for realising that vegetarians don't live on a diet of goats cheese and risotto.

As we only live a short distance from Louth this absolute gem of a pub has become our 'go to' local and we visit regularly - often with our furry friend who is always welcomed. The owners, Gemma & Marlon, are superb hosts and they go to great lengths to make their guests feel at home. The pub has a great rural atmosphere and is a fabulous place to relax and enjoy friendly banter in cosy surroundings with top notch food and drinks. As you'd expect from a well-run hostelry in current times the Covid precautions are efficiently managed and consistent which is very reassuring. You will not find a more friendly family-run pub anywhere in the County and we can highly recommend it. Many thanks to Gemma, Marlon and the team for making our visits so enjoyable. Very best wishes and the best of luck in these trying times. We look forward to seeing you all again very soon!

Just popped in for a drink but what lovely people running it. Married couple (owners?? staff?? don't know) were just so nice - friendly, hard-working, efficient, calm during this difficult Covid time.Covid precautions in pub were stringent as they should be but was so well-managed and all staff so diplomatic and well-mannered.This is a really tough time for all businesses and they need all the help & support from us the public/punters. We live miles away but we'll try to support this pub here and there as they are not only decent folk but we see that they have interesting food too. On this visit we didn't eat but we'll give it a go probably one Wednesday when I think they have a Carribbean menu. So this gets five stars for service, friendliness, good (white) wine (Jack Rabbit I think which is excellent) and a good lager and being able to feel safe there during Covid escalation times. This pub's not all that long reopened. Please public support it. They deserve it!Best of luck to The Boar's Head!PS to the management: no The Lincolnshire Live website wrongly indicated staff cannot have visors. Think it's still OK from our checking afterwards so either masks or visors apparently.

Popped into this pub to get out of the rain. It us a 5 min walk out of the centre of town and a real find. Fantastic atmosphere and very dog friendly. Really friendly family run pub. Will definately be back. If your in Louth and want a great place to relax, I highly recommend The Boars Head. We sat inside which was very cosy but on a better day the beer garden looks brilliant.

We celebrated our daughters 18 birthday here, we had an area of the pub to ourselves. Marlon managed to get 19 meals out to us and our guests over 15 minutes. The pub has a great atmosphere, the food was fab, most had the fish n chips which everyone said were amazing, I had a 1/2 pound burger which was cooked to perfection. Give this pub a try, you’ll not regret it.

First time visitor and and what a fantastic place! Warm hosts and a cosy atmosphere (proper fires and log burners!) and nicely decorated for Christmas. We all had food and this was really tasty (I had chilli and chips with cheese). Wheelchair access if required is around the side of the pub. Dogs are allowed in too. Give it a go soon! You won't regret it.

We visit here quite regularly and it is always so warm and welcoming. Gemma & Marlon really are such fantastic friendly hosts. We had Sunday lunch here and other lunch time sandwiches and it's always awesome, so tasty. Make sure you book though as it is difficult to get a table it is that good! If you want to visit a lovely market town pub with all the creature comforts, but is still a bit cool, you can't go wrong with this place xx

Came to Louth on a Wednesday & called in at the Boars Head. Marlon wasn't planning on doing any West Indian cuisine as there were no bookings & he didn't have anything in so it would be the normal menu only. He must have seen the disappointment on our faces & after some rum & beer offered to get some food in & do jerk chicken just for us!What a Star, we went back later & had jerk chicken, sweet potato, sweet corn, rice & slaw. A lovely meal in a great pub run by fab hosts, what more could you ask for. Great selection of drinks especially many interesting rums. Look forward to the next Rum 'n Reggae event with the guys from Notts, a definite date I think.

Recommended by staff of hotel was staying at. Called on a Thursday evening (burger night) had the pulled pork burger with real homemade chips not horrible fries with coleslaw and a side salad. The pulled pork was beautiful in a lovely sauce. Beer too was good and a good selection. Whilst fairly quiet but mid week and early evening it was very warming and friendly with very good hosts and would not hesitate to recommend this pub and no doubt will be calling again when back in my home town for a visit

I went for Sunday Lunch and cannot praise the Chef enough. All freshly cooked, vegetables still green and all cooked perfectly. The other good thing is that the portions are just right, enough to fill. you up but not such an overflowing plate you lose interest and cannot finish it all. The beer was really good too, cold and fresh.

Having had a quick pint here a couple of weeks ago, went back today for lunch with the wife. The menu is fairly limited we had a beef brisket roll and a pulled pork roll. Both were extremely tasty and came with an attractive green salad and red cabbage coleslaw. The freshly cooked chips were excellent and home made. The pint of London Pride I had was absolutely first class, best pint of Pride I've had in many years. It usually doesn't travel well to Lincs but this was spot on. My wifes Deuchars IPA was good too.

This is possibly the worst pub I have visited within the local area in terms of customer service. As a real ale fan I would advise you to avoid this pub as the management were extremely rude. It's the reason why real pubs are dying, its such a shame. I really want to support local ale but this really puts me off. Cambra real ale member. Better places to visit.

Stumbled across this place by accident as we explored off the beaten track. A new establishment with an abundance of home made goodies, cakes and treats. Everything from hot cooked meals, snacks, light bites with a very good selection of hot and cold drinks. The lovely owner was incredibly warm, friendly and accommodating as we were a large group and had both wheelchair and pushchair. Really worth the visit if you're in the area. I'll definitely be visiting next time I'm here.

Took my parents for Sunday lunch. It was busy. Staff were friendly and polite. The menu is extensive and the roasts are not just your standard meat and veg. I had the chicken breast wrapped in pancetta with apricot stuffing. The chicken was tender and moist. The stuffing was lovely but I would have like a little more of it. The Yorkshire pudding was excellent if you prefer your pudding not to crispy. Very nice cauliflower cheese but the stork of it needed more cooking. The beef was very tender but ask for a steak knife as the normal knives just pull it apart. We had extra gravy and it was very good.
