The Brown Cow in East Lindsey

Excellent traditionallocal English pub in Louth Lincolnshire. Not far from the town centre. Situated about 10 mile from Cadwell Park motor racing circuit. Inexpensive, home cooked food at weekends, with a great selection of beers. Highly recommend.

We found this pub based on previous excellent reviews and were not disappointed. Went with friends and ordered traditional items, fish and chips, steak and Stilton pie, all well cooked, all very generous portions, both quality and quantity. Recommended.

Excellent food, great beer, friendly traditional local pub. We visited for a pub lunch, and the pub was busy and welcoming. A good selection of homemade food to choose from. We chose the haddock and chips and large fish finger sandwiches. Lovely food, not a frozen chip in sight. Highly recommend.

First visit ever today we both had pies one steak & stilton and cheese and onion.Lovely chilled wine and fantastic beer.We shall definitely be back to try more.Very friendly staff.Thank you so much makes a lovely change to feel that you haven't been ripped off.

Excellent selection of beer, was able to taste before buying. Party of 6. Three had fish & chips all agreed it was the best they had tasted. One chicken & chorizo & one steak & stilton both excellent. One ham egg & chips also excellent. Six sweets again couldn't fault. Overall all the party really enjoyed their meals & would return.

Great hospitality from Nigel and his staff who made sure we were comfortable and happy. Lovely pint and our meals were absolutely superb. Great value, had Sunday diner, proper fresh veg perfectly cooked, meat was fantastic and again cooked to perfection. Also the proper pie was wonderful and great portions. Couldn’t recommend highly enough, thank you.

This is a fabulous pub. Family run, a wonderful local but welcoming atmosphere, good range of well priced beef, but it’s the food which embodies Great British pub food that sets it apart. Classics very well, freshly prepared. The fish and chips are legendary locally and the beef and Stilton pie a feast. Great chips garden peas with a pint on Landlord jobs a good’en!

I had chicken and choriso pie. It was delicious and packed full of chicken. Mum had fish and chips and said it was among the best ever. Friendly host and great service.

My wife and Called in following recommendations from friends. A really good little pub. Great outside seating area. The fish and chips were as good as the best that can be found in Grimsby/ Cleethorpes. Reasonable prices. Not far from Cadwell Park. Definately will come again. Dave and Jill from Grimsby.

We went to the brown cow just for a drink one sunday afternoon and the atmosphere was so welcoming. So much so we went back the following week and then yesterday decided to go for a meal. The quality was great. The staff really friendly and we were made to feel welcome. I had the steak pie, which was full of meat. The veg were cooked perfectly and the chips were crisp and the gravy was lovely. A in all a great night.

Two Fridays us and our friends have visited for lunch, and what a treat!! Amazing fish and chips! that good our friends have done a 2 hour round trip for them!! Our new local as just moved into the area. Great staff, friendly and quick! The pub is well stocked with plenty to choose from drinks wise. Friendly locals what more can you ask for on your doorstep!! Roll on the summer!

Great selection of choice on the menu, considered several different options. Pies were good and very tasty. Proper pub food, would recommend and eat in again if we were in the area. Good selection of drinks and spirits Very welcoming and dog friendly

Fantastic food, good selection of beverages, friendly atmosphere with attentive staff and hands on owners. A really nice place to go and relax with friends and family.

A cracking little pub with a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. The owners make you feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The food is very, very good, perfect roast beef it literally melts in your mouth. They have created a lovely beer garden area with pods and big umbrellas that I think are a real asset. We visited as a family and they catered well for the kids and made a fuss of our dog who really enjoyed one of the doggy Jammie dodgers! Genuinely one of the best pubs in Louth and well worth a visit - I cannot think of anything negative at all, it’s a really good pub and gets 5 stars from us!

First class and friendly service as always and best fish and chips in Louth. Beautiful new seating area outside with heating. Everywhere spotlessly clean

We had reason to be in Louth to see a relative and decided on The Brown Cow for dinner. We sat outside on the lovely terrace, my partner had a vegetarian burger which she said was superb, I had fish and chips. The piece of fish was superb but the best bit was real chips from a potato, not a packet. But not these daft huge great chunky chips which you sometimes get, the right size and fried superbly. We spoke to the owners as well who were a lovely couple. I couldn't recommend this pub more highly if you are in the area and want a decent well run pub with great home cooked food.

Been here for Sunday lunch a few times before (which is very good with a good selection of food).Myself and my girlfriend thought the food on Burns night was very good, the steaks were lovely.Tried the Haggis and really enjoyed it.Overall the evening was very enjoyable, we would recommend anybody giving it a try whether for sunday lunch, pie night or a relaxed evening meal.The staff are all very welcoming and friendly.The young man who serves on a Sunday and was serving on Burns night is always friendly, polite and professional.

Pubs are all about atmosphere - which, ultimately means it's about the personality of the people who run them. That is precisely why the Brown Cow is the best pub in Louth. The bar staff are way about just pouring pints - even when it's really busy, they all have time to be more than just pint pullers and in the landlord they have an absolute gem of man - witty, chatty and 100% hospitable. If you are visiting Louth - or even if you are a 'local', you will get the best reception in the Cow.

Absolutely fantastic food and value for money. No frozen chips or ready meals at this friendly and traditional pub.

This is a proper pub with a chatty warm welcome, top quality beer and a wonderful comaraderie amongst the clientele that's a rarity these days.We visited three times on holiday. We didn't eat but loved the place which we always busy which tells you all.

We were allowed to sit at the bar because the Brown Cow was heaving with locals, which also meant we were beautifully entertained by a lovely barmaid & plied with their very good selection of rum. This place had such a warm friendly feel & the meal we ate-fish battered in local beer (we just had to)-was absolutely gorgeous.

What a wonderful landlord and family run pub. So hospitable, great atmosphere, the home cooked food is great, wonderful Sunday lunch, also families with children are also made very welcome, best pub in Louth.

Excellent landlord, lovely bar staff, well kept range of ales, good food, good atmosphere. No wonder it’s a poular local watering hole!

Great food and the beer is kept so well here. I would advise booking for a meal though it is very popular and gets very busy.

Must admit only one in the party had the Sunday roast. Veggie friend was well pleased when she had the fish ( but by special request) done without a batter) She had a lovely selection of the vegetables. All of us were pleased with our meals and the friendly welcome and service.A good selection of wines at reasonable prices as always. Beers a-plenty too. Such a friendly local, always glad to go there. A friend who joined us, just for a drink, was very impressed.

Delicious roast beef and to die for Rhubard crumble! Lovely friendly girls serving us. Request for more gravy dealt with promptly. Great value for money.

This is a really cosy, friendly pub in the lovely market town of Louth. Great hospitality, Nigel and Vicky are fabulous hosts and provide a warm welcome, great food and good beer!

A wonderful meal tonite, the Brown Cow game night. Superb pigeon breast starter - beautifully cooked, subtle flavour, melt in the mouth. Game pie was gorgeous - pastry just right - flaky, moist and tasty. What more can i say? Service good - nothing too much trouble - highly recommended and a very reasonable price - thank you x

We just had fish n chips at The Brown Cow in Louth the best ones ever by far it's a must have deal when it comes with a half price bottle of wine! Well worth a visit & a great old fashioned pub in whic to sit & just have a drink great atmosphere.

Went with friends, although we enjoyed our F n C, we were disappointed with only two deserts or cheese n biscuits to choose from. Waitress was very inexperienced and when friend asked for a pint of a particular beer he may as well have been talking Chinese! Our other disappointment was lack of atmosphere in dining room. New French doors need curtains and room seem very bare after removal of large dresser. Would return for food and hope changes to dining room are work in progress.

Great pub.small and friendly atmosphere.this is our local and they always have great events bbq's, music,singers etc.quick service with friendly staff.we have eaten a few times now and each time the food is lovely.well worth a visit

Ambos teníamos frescas, patatas fritas y guisantes abadejo blanda y compartimos una porción de anillos de cebolla caseros - todos casa fresca comida casera - las patatas fritas no son congeladas. Este es un pequeño y encantador pub acogedor, anfitrión y anfitriona es encantador y amable. No está abierto para comer cada día de la semana, así que la mejor hora de veces antes de la visita.

This pub is a great find. We dined here recently with our friends after a long and wet walk from Grainthorpe. Just what we needed, a warm welcome and great beer and fabulous food. It was a lovely evening and we shall be back again to try out the other special evenings. The atmosphere was buzzing. Like a good old English pub. Thank you.

What a great place good beer nice wine food excellent. We went in saturday night table booked for 8.15 and ready on time we both had the ribeye steak with the bottle of wine. I have had bigger steaks on a plate but never had a better tasting one. Overall the meal was 1st class the service very good and friendly. PS maybe the drinks were to good

I like to pop into the brown cow from time to time to try there guest beer. I have found that they are always kept will and changed regular. It is also a fantastic sun trap with outdoor seating so of cause great in the summer. They show most live football and rugby so it does get very busy but that adds to the atmosphere. They also have a beer festival at least once a year, this year it's the 28th till the 30th so can't wait to sample some other beers then. A further note is the also do evening meals which alas look and smell great but I've not been myself so it's on my to do list for a treat some time. Over view is is a nice little pub to go on your own or with friends and/or family.

Staff were all very friendly especially the lady who took our food order. We were made to feel very welcome. Food was delicious, just the right portion sizes. Would definitely recommend and will be back for food soon!

Very friendly bar with excellent ale the food is good, better than avearge but not very good. Very tolerant of children

Visited this venue last Friday with friends and must admit was the best fish and chips we had for years, my business was in the fish business and the quality was superb, the bar was very clean and friendly and packed we ill go again thank you.

had dinner here last Saturday and were delighted with the place. The food was all fresh and cooked to a high standard with lots being homemade. Service was ecxcellent. Cant wait to go again.

Popped in with the misses for a lunch on a Friday afternoon debs had the homemade chicken gougons with homemade fries and I had the absolutely fantastic fresh sea bass with tomato tagliatelle and fresh asparagus. Excellent food at excellent prices with the added attraction of a wide selection of English Ales. The food is locally sourced and cooked ready for your table, try the Haddock with a bottle of white. Very popular pub that gets very busy at the weekends so I suggest you book if your in the area or take a chance and soak up the atmosphere along with a good pint (Black Sheep!). Go and try Pie Night on a Thursday evening.

Have been several times over recent years. Excellent ales such as Directors and London Pride. Usually busy and sometimes (especially weekends and bank hols) restaurant is fully booked. Special meal/wine deals and other offers during the week. Consistently good

The restaurant is only open a few nights a week, but is really good. Excellent portions at good prices, but it's the pub itself that is a gem. Amazingly popular, just like local pubs always used to be. Always a good conversation to be had.

The best compliment I can give is this is a proper English Pub. Excellent food and a very good selection of beer. We went for lunch and had the sandwich offer which was superb. The welcome was a friendly family welcome and the service was excellent. We will certainly visit again and hopefully be regulars.

Went with friends for Christmas, food was excellent well worth the money we paid, the only thing was the room was slightly cold, but apparent from that service by Sally was excellent, and also the food was excellent too, making an excellent night. Will return.

Great value for money and a lovely atmosphere. There are always good deals on. When I went you got a free bottle of wine with your meal when you chose any two from a selection. Food was of really lovely quality. I had the steak and it was cooked fantastically. There's also a fantastic selection of ales!
