The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

Took my mum today for afternoon tea as part of her 80th birthday celebrations. Wow! Karen made us both feel special and valued from the minute we walked in. Great conversation and beautiful food in unique surroundings. Everything was tasty and fresh. We couldn't eat everything so our leftovers were packaged up to take home. Thank you so much for a great experience 🥰

Such a lovely place right on the canal. We initially just went in for drinks but having looked at the Tapas menu we just couldn’t resist. The food was outstanding. I have to mention Ricky the Chef , we will certainly be back thank you for such amazing flavours and to Janine thank you for such welcoming hospitality.

We were staying the night in the village and rang ahead to check they would be doing food as we didn't want to get stranded without anything for dinner. They were helpful on the phone and friendly in person. We got pizza to takeaway and a very quick drink whilst we were waiting. The pizza was very good indeed and if we hadn't been knackered we'd happily have had a longer visit.

We live locally and had seen this coffee shop advertised on Facebook and looked lovely but had never been. So, as we were nearby this cold Sunday morning , we thought we would pop in and try it. And oh my, were we glad we did. We were instantly welcomed and seated by one of the lovely owners, we felt at home straight away. The place is uniquely decorated and the all staff were so friendly. We both ordered a breakfast and it was absolutely delicious, one of the best we have had. It's quite rare when a full English tastes so fresh and wholesome. Everything was well cooked and incredibly tasty. The staff not only came round to check everything was ok but actually engaged and chatted to every single customer regular or new. We commented how the quaintness and quality was like being in the Cotswolds but at half the price. We will definitely return and would recommend everyone to support this local, family business because they really do deserve it. What a great way to start Christmas.

We enjoyed another three course lunch at Sessions. We began with a cocktail each, a Negroni and a Espresso Martini, both of which we excellent. The starter we chose, a mousse from Lincolnshire blue cheese was the dish of the day for me. The sharpness of the blue was at exactly the right level. My wife chose the Masala mackerel for mains while I opted for the boeuf bourguignon. The dish was rich, with succulent pieces of beef and a delicious red wine sauce. We both had apple and blackcurrant crumble for dessert. Portion sizes were perfect and the students worked hard at getting their heads around everything. Well done to Josh for great service to us. Two 3 course meals and two cocktails, £35.

This pub is so welcoming, clean and a fun environment to be in. The bar staff are polite and have such quick service. The beer tastes very fresh. I’ve been in on a Wednesday and Sunday where they do bingo, the prizes are excellent and it’s so worth £10 to play as you can win a lot as they’ve started to do double bubble and in the last 3 pages you have a chance to win £175!!!! Fridays and Saturdays are also very good as they have an amazing dj on who playes for the room so it includes everyone. I 100% recommend this pub to drink in if your stopping by or having a function as it’s one of the best in woodhouse

An excellent place to visit for tea and cake or afternoon teas. A friendly service with a smile. I can highly recommend a visit.

What an excellent place for food. Been here a few times now and from day one I have felt like a regular and valued customer. The service is great, the food is delicious and the location is a quaint and quirky but very comfortable place to be. This will continue to be my regular breakfast/brunch spot for the foreseeable future. Excellent.

Visited today with my mother and mother in law for the first time, we will be returning, made to feel so welcome by the lovely lady Rona, food was wonderful, we loved the surroundings, Thank You very much

You get such a warm and friendly greeting from all the staff here, this has surely got to be one of the best places in and around Derby to enjoy one of their fresh salad boxes, sausage rolls, cakes or filled rolls, all at a very reasonable price.

Popped in for Cappuccino with friend, decided to have a chicken wrap too which was delicious, lovely warm and friendly cafe
