Second time for Sunday lunch (May 24 -2 of us ) last time! Pleased to say just as good as the first time, all the food was plentiful this time 3 of us ! Staff always welcoming good selection of beers & the upside-down cheesecake was mouthwatering thanks again for your great service & will be back soon!👍

Lovely food, very friendly service and a good atmosphere. We were a party of 4 and ordered a variety of small plates which were all delicious. Definitely will go back and happy to recommend it.

Had been recommended by some friends so we decided to give it a try for Sunday lunch. Absolutely superb. Quality ingredients presented on sharing boards. Stunning food really well cooked and different to your average Sunday lunch. The hosts were really attentive and helpful and run a lovely little place. We will definitely be back

Where do I start? Just WOW! Janine and Stewart were the perfect hosts for our perfect evening. My mum and I came for the seafood evening last night, both of had been excited all day, as we love seafood. We were greeted outside by Janine, (who is the most attentive, friendly and genuinely lovely person, I have never met her before but instantly felt like I knew her). A glass of Prosecco arrived instantly, and the menu was already on the table, lots of lovely additions to it which we didn’t know about. Janine felt that the element of surprise would be a lovely touch, which it was. Stewart and Janine brought out plate after plate of delicious seafood, which was exquisite. The entire evening from the decor, service, food, music wine pairing was absolutely outstanding. I think you’re going to need a bigger venue soon as I feel you could fill another few restaurants! Thank you so much to Janine and Stewart for our lovely evening, we will definitely be back x

Janine and Stuart very kindly allowed us to hire their dining area exclusively for our Daughter's 21st Birthday. The evening was absolutely fantastic! Janine and Stuart really are brilliant hosts. Great little place is this they have quality food and drinks in a nice location at side of the canal! Including indoor and outdoor seating! I’ve included a few photos, we shall be coming back very soon.

We visited whilst on holiday in the area. They have a brilliant way of serving Sunday Lunch. Our friends are still talking about it. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately we do not live near enough to repeat the experience

Very lucky to have this place on the doorstep. Always a warm welcome from hosts Janine and Stuart who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I’ve eaten here numerous times and the food has always been excellent….. Especially the Sunday lunch!!

What an absolute treat! I visited with 3 friends for the tapas offer and absolutely loved the visit. With a choice of 11 tapas dishes there is certainly something for everyone. We had a vegetarian and also gluten free diner in our party, we selected 10 dishes and we cleared every plate, each one was delicious. The service was also excellent, very attentive, the owners clearly want customers to enjoy their visit. I immediately rang family on the way home to tell them how wonderful the food and service was - we will definitely be back.

This is our local and we are so lucky to have it. You are guaranteed a warm welcome from Stuart, Janine and their team. The Retreat on the row is a first class dining experience. Beautiful food, excellent service, a good selection of wine and draught to suit all tastes. I highly recommend.

After a walk along the canal we popped in for something to eat. The lady who served us was really welcoming, friendly and polite. She explained everything clearly to us. We had a Sunday dinner tapas sharing board which was absolutely amazing - so different to anything we’ve had before. Every part of the meal was absolutely delicious. Definitely the best meal I’ve had in a long time! We will definitely be returning and I’d highly recommend to everyone.

Fantastic food, drinks and hosts! Sunday lunch is amazing, tapas and pizza are the tastiest! Such a great atmosphere too!

Have been wanting to try this place for such a long time and finally found a free weekend - SO glad we did. Unfortunately the chef was away so the menu was smaller (however I was impressed the owners had chosen to protect their brand and stick to food they could cook without their chef). The pizza was incredible really thin and crispy just what you want after a good walk. Good choice of wine and I had a really well balanced Kir Royal (had too many with overpowering blackcurrant). Best thing about the whole experience was the friendly owner and step in chef. SO welcoming, SO lovely, really can’t rave enough about them. Inside was extremely clean and well presented. Would 100% recommend and we will definitely be back for the full menu.

Just returned from a superb Sunday Lunch. Everything from our welcoming hosts to a wonderful tapas style lunch provided by a very talented chef was beyond expectations and the price, well it takes a lot to surprise me but this was outstanding value. A range of food, wonderfully prepared,presented itself and the taste of everything was great and it looked good too. If, like me, you are generally not a fan of carvery style Sunday Lunches then give Retreat on the Row a try, fantastic experience and one to be soon repeated.

Visited today and had a fabulous Sunday lunch . Vegetarian option was Superb . A very talented chef . Best meal out I’ve had in a long time . Very good service . Will definitely return .

Me and my family had been for a walk and decided to stop for refreshments at The Retreat. We decided to sit outside as we were a little dirty and had a child’s bike with us. Although the lady who collected our glasses was lovely and conversation with her about the food they offer and the previous amazing comments I had heard about it, we were definitely made to feel unwelcome. As there were four adults, we moved the chairs around a small table outside within the allocated seating area. The owner of the property asked my mum to move away from the door as she would ‘intimidate’ his son if he were to leave the property. I was then under the impression that the property was separate to the business itself but when asked, this was not the case. I have personally seen the front of this establishment crammed with customers. Unsure why that’s acceptable and one person sat slightly close to the door is not!!! Absolutely awful manners… even if the food is amazing, they definitely don’t deserve the business

A delicious early evening meal in this lovely convivial place. Excellent food and wine choices and while we were too full to try, the desert menu was great. Friendly and welcoming hosts. Excellent.

An amazing Sunday dinner ,the food was delicious,served tapas style .great atmosphere and wonderful friendly owners ,this was our 2nd visit ,highly recommend the retreat on the row ,have booked again for the following sunday

Visited last night with friends and had a sharing platter and some tapas dishes. The food was delicious! Such a lovely, welcoming place and would highly recommend.

This was a share platter for Sunday lunch, it was delicious, beef, pork turkey. Roast potatoes, mash, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and vedg, also as much gravy as you needed. It was absolutely delicious, the best Sunday lunch I have had in a long time. The hosts are first class, friendly and very obliging, we had a great time.
