Great experience by Leanne, bar service was exceptional! Food was well presented an dead hot. We were politely welcomed by Leanne and drinks refilled when empty in good time. We are staying here whilst working away and what a great stay we have had! Leanne and lloren are brilliant and are a great asset to the pub! We look forward to coming back when working in the area x

Stumbled across this back street hidden gem, before going to a gig at the Roadmender (10 min walk away). Great choice of ale, staff were engaging, friendly and efficient, food (Chilly & chunky chips) was good and a large portion and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Will be back. Well done Lamplighter.

We had an absolutely amazing meal here, couldn’t fault a single thing. Our server Mandy was fantastic! Thank you so much for making our day off away from work most enjoyable! The food was outstanding, thank you team!

Having previously checked with the pub a week beforehand I enquired if they would be able to accommodate a social group of around 25 vulnerable adults accompanied by 5 volunteers + a few carers, for them to experience a ‘real pub night’ with their friends. A phone call the next day confirmed the booking. Everyone enjoyed themselves on the night, some independently bought drinks from the bar, others who were not so confident were supported to ask + pay for their chosen tipple! The Staff were helpful, patient + friendly. The pub is spacious, which was great for a group of our size, + clean which is always a plus point. Thank you so much for welcoming us, I know the event was appreciated by all. I understand that we plan to return in the summer where we’ll be checking out the garden 🌻🌹

Lovely place. Good food, friendly staff & great service. Would definitely come again. We were here overnight so had the carvery and breakfast. The food was hot and fresh. Although it was busy it was managed well.

Went for a work Christmas do for the festive Christmas feast. Waited over an hour after our pre booked arrival time before we were told we could go and help ourselves at the buffet by which time some things had run out and the warm food was tepid. Food was average. No table water and no nibbles while we waited. Limited bar choice. Disappointing night and terrible value for £30 excluding drinks.

We often visit the Wig for a drink, but we went out as a family and had the Sunday roast, They accommodated food for every and there was plenty of it. Chef provided plenty of gravy and the food was very tasty, defiantly worth a visit.

We sat squashed up on a couple of tables, the food took ages to come out, we found to food to be not as advertised, staff friendly though! Of note and odd to us was that they only take cash, no other forms of payment at all, and at 10pm we were told to leave our table or sit with the smokers as where we were sitting becomes a smoking area after 10pm! Not the Shisha that they do in the back room, but actual cigarettes! I didnt believe what they said so asked for an ashtray... and got one. Needless to say we left, not to return I am afraid.

Came in here on a Saturday night and it should've been packed but it was absolutely dead. The bar surface/floor was horrible and sticky, it's so dark and loud in there we couldn't see/hear each other. There was about 4 tables in the whole room and it's just as well that the place was empty. We tried to go to the smoking area outside but it was locked and the bouncer made us go back downstairs to sit in the really loud music room. No thanks.

We ate breakfast here. Cooked to order eggs were available and I got a large omelette which was filling. Nicely done hash browns, croissants were lovely. I liked the quality of the food and the friendly service.

Disappointed by the experience. Went for a wicked themed afternoon tea Basically this was a couple of pictures , theme tune playing and some plastic glasses etc on the table . Food wasn’t all homemade either ready prepared sandwich fillings , shop brought sausage rolls and Mac and cheese bites clearly frozen . The place looks fantastic but it was all pretty disappointing if I’m honest and not cheap

Proper old school caff... quality fry up, thes best I've had for ages! The chef was a nice guy, friendly, polite and very professional! Food was cooked to perfection too....
