Came in here on a Saturday night and it should've been packed but it was absolutely dead. The bar surface/floor was horrible and sticky, it's so dark and loud in there we couldn't see/hear each other. There was about 4 tables in the whole room and it's just as well that the place was empty. We tried to go to the smoking area outside but it was locked and the bouncer made us go back downstairs to sit in the really loud music room. No thanks.

I love this place. It’s easy to walk past as it’s not massively signposted but the exterior of the building is amazing, it’s shaped like a castle. The bouncers are very friendly and for once in my life I don’t get asked for ID. Inside there’s a massive area to dance, with cosy sofas around the corners. The music is perfect - a nice mix between R&B, dance, pop, rap and house. The majority of the times we go, it’s 2 for 1 on cocktails all night. There’s an extensive list of cocktails to chose from with a mix of every alcohol you can imagine. The service behind the bar is friendly, I believe his name is Ashton he even let us have a go at make (shake) our own cocktails. Inside the decor is lovely, and we went on Friday for the majority of the night, until closing time and it never got massively busy. We quite like that though, more room for us and never a queue at the bar. Overall, a good place - definitely a must if visiting Northampton for a night out.

I had never been to this place before and when I got inside it was like I was hit in the face with over the top decor. It all seemed really confused as to what it wanted to be. We went here for a fundraising quiz and we had a good night out but we wouldn't go there again as it's not really the type of place we would go

I was with a group of friends on a Hen night. We had reserved a booth which was great. Everyone took advantage of the two for one cocktails before 11pm and thoroughly enjoyed them. A nice atmosphere and very quiet until after midnight which meant we could actually talk to each other too. Really enjoyed our evening here, thanks!

Borjia, pronounced differently by every person you meet but I'm sure all share the same opinion. This place brings a bit of class to the usual dire line up of bars/clubs in Northampton. Borjia is a breath of fresh air and the recent refurbishment is modern and classy. This place has great service with table service from the lovely bar girls and an impressive line up of greatly crafted cocktails. If you're looking for a classy night out then look no further. Intimate, sophisticated and well run.

Looking for somewhere a bit more grown up and found it. As most places, started to get busy about 11pm. Music was a good modern mix and kept us entertained. crowd from mid 20's to older,I'm 50 and didn't feel out of place, young 50 of course.....

A group of us visited here for a friends birthday, we have done this a couple of times now and the staff never fail to disappoint. We had the huge bottle of Grey Goose of which they never fail to impress us with the presentation and the booth is a great touch. This is one of my favourite places to visit for special occasions and well worth the money. Always a great atmosphere here.

We went here a couple of times for a drink when we where in town. The small roof terrace is excellent on a sunny day, but be quick as space is at a premium. The interior of the building has to be seen to be believed, it is very impressive. You may be able to visit as part of the Herittage weekend as they sometimes offer admission during this time.

Visit Borjia on many occasions and I've always a great time. Experience has always been a good one regardless if you're going out for a drink or a night out. Music has always been good whether your looking to have a dance or just catch and enjoy a drink. Atmosphere is vibrant and lively.

Went here with a friend of mine for drinks and a dance and thats exactly what I got. Walked in and got served really quickly and got a table, the music was really good and managed to get everyone up and dancing... a really good night

Went to Borjia for the first time last Friday, wasn't what I expected at all! It was so beautifully decorated inside, all the staff were so lovely, it wasn't too long a wait at the bar even tho it was busy, they made sure they served everyone quickly and the hostess was awesome and made everyone feel so welcome and kept the drinks flowing. I didn't even think it was a proper club or open late, but the musics awesome with a sick bass and it's open till like 3am!! There's VIP sections you can book out or just chill on and a good dance floor space. Definitely going to go back on my nights out!! 100% recommend if you havn't already...check it out.

Ella busca borracho. Ella no ayudan mucho, no estaba haciendo las bebidas se preguntan sobre, aparte de que la música estaba muy bien y el ambiente (excepto ese miembro del personal) era increíble. Awesome little bar that does cracking drinks and is nice n quirky inside. Door staff attitude let's it down though, so be prepared for frosty reception. Otherwise would be higher score.

Nice building and layout like an old theater. Gets busy late until then feels a bit awkward as place has big dance floor in the middle and everyone sits on the outside circle. Ok prices ok drinks quality, friendly staff.

Came with husband and another couple had a good eve, as we were leaving a member of your door staff escorted a young girl clearly extremely intoxicated out of the club, she was on her own, he left her on the street, I calmly asked him if she's was ok, to be rudely told 'yes' he tutted at me and walked away at which point another member of door staff approached me with a aggressive manner, causing an argument, the young lady in question was outside the premises alone, completely unaware of where she was and the door staff didn't want to go in and find her friends they didn't care, they were very rude to us and I hope they don't have daughters that someone would treat with the disrespect they were treating this young girl , we got her home safe, I hope you can live with your policy of removing extremely intoxicated young ladies and leaving them alone, venerable, and free for someone to attack them

This was one of our best nights out. I booked this for my wife's 60th birthday and what a great venue. Rachelle and her team really pulled the stops out and made it a really memorable night. Our friends couldn't have been more complimentary about the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. Food was great and the fish and chip cones went down a storm. Drinks were reasonably priced and all in all I would have no hesitation in recommending Borjia to anyone.

Great venue, looks amazing inside and out But are they doing enough? I've been in a few times but whenever I'm out its not the first place I want to go. My advice would be - be known for something amazing "the best cocktails" "the best service" "the greatest theme nights" "the best music" At the moment I see this place as not reaching its potential ...

I go to Borjia every weekend without fail. It is quite simply the best high-end venue in Northampton: good music, nice people, great atmosphere - that's the trifecta! This week, for a change, I went early and tried the tapas. Some of the dishes were a little spicy for my palate, but the duck spring rolls and chicken tenders were delicious! A great start to the night and highly recommended. :-)

We had an absolutely fantastic night at Borija thanks to the great Staff, their attendance, care and just all around amazing customer service!!! This is including the bar staff, the security, DJ and the waitresses - my special thanks to the owner himself and the manager on the night to make sure that we had a very memorable and unforgettable 30th birthday party. The venue is absolutely beautiful and has so much style. All our guests that came from within the UK and abroad gave nothing but fantastic feedback - so happy and look forward to go back there again.Thanks again!!!

I went here yesterday for a friend's surprise birthday party. .The pictures make the place much bigger and better than it was.We were warmly welcomed by the staff and offered prosecco on arrival...The DJ wasn't that great & messed up the surprise because she did not cut the music! But was a great night due to the company.The food definitely was Iceland frozen party food!! Which is shocking I would never pay for this expecting tapas!The staff were very attentive offering drinks and snacks and cake.The cloakroom situation was a mess the whole point of having a ticket system is so that you know which coat belongs to who..The staff couldn't find ours! Then when they finally brought them down my boyfriends jacket sleeve was soaked!! Smelled like cleaning products Unacceptable and all we got was sorry think something got spilled on you jacket have a voucher for free drinks! I don't think any of my party will be back again !Where is this cloakroom anyway?? In a cleaning cupboard? ?!

I sadly can't give you an opinion of how great this place is for food and drink as I've only visited it during the annual Heritage Open Days event. The owner of the bar has renovated this fantastic building with the same kind of love, care and attention to detail that characterised its original creation.The building was commissioned by the grieving parents of a young man who was killed in the first world war. They built this 'Memorial Hall' and gave it to the local YWCA - a beautiful gesture to donate something useful to a generation of women who had already lost their potential husbands to the bullets.Please do go and have a look if you have the chance. The owner is rightly very proud of the building and I'm sure he won't mind you popping in to look at his stained glass windows and stone carvings.

I love borjia the new heart sign in the main room. is great brings the place to something i would off never thought of looks alot better then the mirror. is old but new staff are well friendly music always great.keep it goin love u all

Perhaps they had a stand-in 'chef' the night we visited! 'Tapas' was on the menu & was what we had ordered but what we received was more like 'Chef's gone to Iceland' - VERY cheap quick fry food that was was shoddily arranged on plates (not in tapas dishes) with a tiny amount of wilted salad & over ripe tomatoes. I think the term 'Tapas' DEFINITELY needs reviewing by Borjia or the menu re-titled!! The calamares was definitely something you'd pick up in a cheap frozen food store & bunged in a deep fat fryer!! Certainly not fresh calamares nor freshly prepared/cooked. Overall the food was incredibly poor quality and prepared by a cook rather than a chef. However the bar itself is fabulous. Love the decor and atmosphere. The singer was amazing (a stand in from the West End). Cocktails are amazing albeit very expensive and over priced. The clientele was of mixed ages so all ages would feel comfortable visiting. I'd definitely go again on a Friday night but would never eat in their again.

We were looking for somewhere close to the Derngate for something to eat before a show, and we love tapas, and found Borjia through Tripadvisor. It's an entertaining place, the staff were lovely, great decor, and I'm sure that it would have been very lively and fun later in the evening. But it's not a food destination, the tapas was pretty disappoinitning. And the wine was awful - we ordered a bottle and it came ready open with an old cork stuck in it. It was some dreadful plonk inside that was definitely not what we ordered. But the staff did their best, and if we were looking for a fun place to go for drinks later, I'm sure it would have been a great visit. So I think just be sure what you are going for - no doubt good for a fun night that's more cocktails and atmosphere, but if you are looking for good tapas you will be disappointed.

i love the place staff great. fab decor great place for drink and private hider. every1 here great when for a party the food was great and yummy. so we have our wedding reception there in a short time cant wait. the ladyies loos with all the mirrirs are fab.... i would defo tell poeple to cheak it out........

We celebrated a 40th birthday. We ordered tapas ans drinks. The staff were friendly and attentive. Food was tastey. The general atmosphere is cosy and fashionable. Everyone was impressed and left satisfied. This is not our first or last trip. Attention to detail makes for a thoroughly enjoyable night out.

Hired Borjia for my best friend's hen do. From start to finish everything was fantastic. The staff are amazing and made the event go so smoothly, they took care of everything. Afternoon tea was lovely and everyone thought the venue itself was fantastic. Would highly recommend as a place to hire for a special event or just for a good cocktail. Best venue in Northampton

Well... where do I start. From beginning to end, the guys and girls who own and run this club showed nothing but professionalism and a complete dedication to my event.The team led by Matt Dawson (not the ex international Scrum half!) provided a team of exceptional bar staff, door staff, cloak room attendants and resident DJ to make my evening for my 80+guests one to remember. To anyone wanting to hold a party at a venue with a bit of class, get these guys on the case. Centrally located, parking in the nearby Derngate theatre was easy enough. Having spent all but 4 of my 40 years in this lovely town Id thoroughly recommend it.

Popped in after a meal at Papa Cino's for a nit of music and a few drinks to end the night.This is certainly one of the better bars in Northampton. It's not full of your normal Saturday night people looking just to drink. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, the Door staff are always welcoming. The music while not to my taste was certainly very good and enjoyable.

We sat at a table that had no reserved sign on it. Having bought an expensive round of drinks the staff then accused us of having moved the sign and told us that we had to move. We pointed out that we would not have bought the drinks without having seats but they didn't care! For the prices they charge I would expect at least a minimum level of customer service - we will never go back!!!!

I Went to boria last night and had the best time. was meet and greeted at the entrance by a pleasant young man who took me and my party to a the vip section. The atmosphere was really good any every one had an amazing time. The drinks where flowing well due to the excellent service provided my the hostess and bar staff. ....you must try the old fashioned cocktail. me and my party will be returning again for sure.big thank you to the bojia team

We went at 6pm on Saturday (opening time), but it wasn't open because the barman hadn't turned up. When we went back later, he still hadn't turned up, but the bar had opened anyway, and the table-waiting staff offered to make us a cocktail. They made it wrong, and argued with us about it, but then the barman turned up and made us a decent cocktail. We had actually gone there for food, but there wasn't any. The decor is beautiful, and the loos are also fab, but the place was empty, freezing and not well run that night. Based on the good reviews we've read here, we would give the place another chance - hopefully they can get their act together next time.

Came here for a 40th party and it was an awesome place. Drinks were a very good price and the food was very nice on the buffet. Staff very friendly. Would defo be back to try the afternoon teas

I haven't actually eaten here but the night life is great! went out with a group of girlies and no letchy 18 year old lads like most places in Northampton!! Great DJ and atmosphere thank you Borjia Lounge!!!

Heard about this amazing place a little while ago and was keen to try it out, 6 of us booked for afternoon tea. Not exactly what i expected but not bad, excelent value for money, we all had a good time, have to say it did lack a tad of finesse but for the price absolutely can't complain. Will definatly go again as fab building and so central, maybe try the lunch menu next time. Quite a little gem in the heart of town.

My sister and myself took our mum here for Mother's Day. It was everything that we expected and what a beautiful place it is! We all took it in turns to see the great toilets (sounds wrong really) that everyone has spoken about..and they are beautiful, amazing and some how confusing cause of all the mirrors, but this is not a negative thing!The whole building from the inside and out, it is elegant and beautifully presented and makes the whole experience even more of a treat.The sandwiches and cakes was lovely and well presented and the tea and coffee was good, with unlimited supply :) If you don't have a chance to eat all the cakes you can ask for a box and you can take them home.You have a choice of veggie or meat options with the sandwiches too!I booked via email, as I struggled to get in touch using the phone number, but to be honest, this was more convenient for me.I would recommend this place to all my friends and family, especially with a cost of at least £9.95 per person for afternoon tea and its a great treat for everyone! This is a quirky place. An old church decorared in an eclectic fashior that shouldn't really work but does. Went for lunch so it was pretty quiet but apparently its a fun place at night whereyou can have cocktails and tapas. There is a DJ and a new rooftop bar lnch was really nice,great presentation and not expensive. Rooftop bar has just opened which would be perfect if we ever have a warm summers evening. By the way check out the loos. Very funky and different. Looking forward to checking out the evening offer of three tapas dishes and a glass of vino for ten pounds next time the sun is out

When the owner is part of the furniture, mingles, talks to you. Shows passion for his place and then follows it up with friendly staff, tastey fun food, well you are onto a winner of a night out. Enjoy Borjia, we did.

Popped in for a few drinks after an Xmas meal. Such a great place. Great service and very well priced. Will certainly be going back there again soon.

I've been to Borjia several times. Both during the day for Lunch and in an evening for a night out.Each time I have been very happy with the venue, the services and when I have eaten there the food as well.Northampton has long needed a venue of this standard and I'd highly recommend that everyone goes along to try the venue and the food.

Went late on a Friday afternoon after a busy week. Staff very attentive, welcoming and relaxing atmosphere! Afternoon tea lovely, surroundings fabulous! A great start to the weekend.

Tried to arrange an Afternoon Tea with a Groupon Voucher which was valid date wise but was declined because Borija had over sold! which is not my fault! they would not honour the voucher and to be honest am very dissappointed that if they put an offer on Groupon that you are made to feel like a second class citizen because you have taken an offer! they should not put such offers online if they cannot cope with the numbers!!!!I often have afetrnoon tea's but will NEVER go to Borija now as their cutomer service is terrible.

I chose Borjia for a lunch meeting and was very impressed. Having experienced enjoyable evenings with friends at the unique venue, I was keen to try the new tapas menu during the day. We went for the calamari, chorizo, olives, stuffed peppers, duck spring rolls, sweet potato wedges and I was particularly impressed with the vegetable tempura. Both the flavours and portion sizes were perfect and we couldn't believe the great value. I will back again very soon!

We went here for afternoon tea and were disappointed with everything bar some of the service. The sandwiches were made of cheap bread, and were a choice of meat or veggie, however we didn't really like either option, and made me gag. The scones looked fake and bought in, and the cakes were heavy and sticky. The options for speciality tea were also extremely limited. Complete waste of money.

It is fair to point out first of all that I have not actually eaten here. However, I telephoned with a view to using a groupon voucher for afternoon tea and was told in no uncertain terms that this could not be accommodated on a Saturday. There is no exclusion clause within the voucher and hence I found this incredibly disappointing. Sadly, I did not take the name of the person I spoke to but unhelpful just about sums it up!

My husband and I went to Borjia last night for a candlelit Jazz evening with the SophistiCats.We arrived early with trepidation I will admit, thinking a bar in Northampton, not really going to blow us away, but we will try it.We had the tapas offer 3 dishes and a glass of wine for 9.95. The tapas was absolutely delicious and fresh.The band were brilliant, we have been to Ronnie Scotts and Jazz clubs in New York not thinking this experience would come close, but it did and right on our doorstep. The singer, pianist, bass and drummer so talented.The venue, the decor,the atmosphere, the staff, the service, the toilets (got to be seen!) down to the unique glassware all fantastic the owners have got it just right.A grown up, chic and unique bar definitely recommend a visit.

I tool my Mum here for afternoon tea for her birthday. She absolutely loved it! Apparently its 'better than the Ritz'! We had a tower of cakes and sandwiches which at first glance looks like it will just about be enough for two people, but we couldn't even finish it! The staff were very attentive and brought out a little cake with a sparkler on it for my mum when they realised it was her birthday, which i have to say was a very thoughtful extra. There were quite a few other people in at the same time. but we never felt neglected and could see the staff were chatty with everyone. I paid £15 for the two of us (they are running a £5 off deal atm) which I thought was an absolute bargain! I have since been back with a few girl friends for lunch and tried some of the rest of the menu which is simple but yummy! the Borjia Burger is one to try for sure! All in all a great place, and I'll be back for cocktails!

I came in for afternoon tea and was greeted by two very pleasant young men, who although had lots of other tables to cater to, promptly seated us at an already set up table reserved for us. The atmosphere was really nice with most of the tables being occupied, the music although not to my taste was at a reasonable level. The chairs were not to any of our liking so our waiter promptly swapped them for the delightful little cushioned chairs. Our food didnt take long atall and was very well presented, enough cakes to keep my daughters happy between looking at the waiter. While this particular waiter was busy taking care of everyones needs in the room the other was making cocktails which looked amazing. It was fascinating to watch. Overall a very nice afternoon out with the family, I have and will continue to reccomend Borjia to all of my friends. I will be back soon.

I went into Borjia for some food and was very happy with the selection of vegetarian foods. Many salads, jackets an mains to choose from. The wine list was well thought out and I had a good time working my way through it. Would definitely go back for food, or just a day wining with friends. (young Irish man who served us was also worth coming in to look at, as well as the fantastic decor )

I booked afternoon tea for a friend and I using groupon. We were pleasantly surprised by the venue. Interesting things to look at. Most of the tables were occupied with small groups or couples chatting quietly which contributed to a nice atmosphere. The waiter was very nice, chatting to us and being informative but professional throughout. The sandwiches and cakes were tasty with yummy scones (cream and jam). The tea was PG or herbal....perhaps loose tea would have made the occasion more special..but we were happy. The teapot was huge and we must have had four cups filled each. We left happy (fed and watered)... The waiter said we must visit the ladies...he was right...a sight to see...but maybe not after consuming lots of alcohol lol. music was perfect for the venue....and background music.. not too loud.would and will be going again ..

I went for afternoon tea on a groupon offer with my husband. it was a saturday afternoon and there were a few other tables occupied, which added to the atmosphere.The tea was lovely with a choice of sandwiches and lots of cakes and scones. We had a cocktail rather than tea which was fun.Lovely place, we have been there before in the evening for a post meal cocktail, it is very busy at the weekend but this all adds the the atmosphere.Staff are all very professional and welcoming.I think their marketing manager needs to work on getting it a better presence on the web as it is impossible to find it under 'places for afternoon tea', 'restaurants' or 'wine bars', so unless you are in the know you are unlikely to come across it (groupon offer was obviously part of their marketing campaign).Planning to take a group of girlfriends next time.

Chose the afternoon tea with cocktails through Groupon. Only one other couple visiting at the same time (also through Groupon) so difficult to comment on speed of service. However we were served very quickly and 'tea' consisted of 2 cocktails and a choice of two sandwich menus. The background music set the ambience very well and the decor was appropriate to the name (though true, a different spelling!). Note that food is only served until 8.00pm and it is more bar and snacks than a true restaurant. The various people who spoke to us were very pleasant and polite. All in all a very enjoyable experience and plan to re-visit when friends come to stay.

We booked afternoon tea as part of a groupon deal. The restaurant had 4 other parties there when we arrived, and there was music in the background which gave a really nice atmosphere. We were given the choice of two sandwich menus, and could choose a cocktail each as part of the deal. As OH was driving he had the choice of two non alcoholic drinks, but I could choose any up to £7.00 (which was most of them), or pay extra for a higher priced one. I chose "sex on the beach!" which was really refreshing and tasted delicious. Our afternoon tea consisted of 8 little sandwiches with 4 different filling, all with the crusts cut off. Also 8 mini cakes, including macaroons, 4 scones, cream, strawberry jam, and a shot glass of curacao laced cream. The service was lovely - attentive, but not overbearing.Borjia also plays host to the poshest loos in Northampton. They have to be seen to be believed, but the decor is fab.All in all a wonderful place for afternoon tea with friends or OH. Loved it!!!! Now I want to go back in the evening for tapas

Went in a group of 4 ladies that lunch for afternoon tea. Good value for money, given a choice of sarnies Vegitarian or Meat Lover, nice selection of cakes and scones with cream and jam. Pot of tea in a china teapot with mixmatch china cups & saucers. Only downer was I do not drink tea so I had coffee which was not brilliant, even with added hot water - but the tea apparently was lovely !! Would definitely go again. Staff very friendly nice interior deco like the inside of a castle. I think its a wine bar but haven't been there in the evening.

me and a group of friends had heard of borjia when it opened last year and at the time they were just a wine bar/ club and have been in a few times in the night and have absoulutely made a night of it so now having heard they do food we thought we would have another evening out (we booked the vip area for drinks and also booked for food as well) the restaurant is also the bar/club the decor is as if you are in a london, james bond scene all black and gold! anyway we (group of 6) opted for the tapas menu which cost 3.95 per dish which we all thought was reasonable, we were very amazed when the food came out all on posh glass plates served by beautiful hostesses who waited on us hand and foot we did not have to get up for drinks once, and was regularly asked if we would like any refills and if we had any other requests, the food was absolutely to die for! we had spanish chorizo with garlic aioli and lime, goats cheese and caramelised red onion crostini and the chefs special sweet potato wedges, all of which were absoulutely to die for! the head chef also gave us a complimetary amuse bouche which consited of a peach schnapps mousse, we also found out from a couple over the room that they also done afternoon tea (which was pre booked and requested later than the serving time so i was told by the customer) i would definately recommend borjia for a night out or for a dining experience! not to be missed! will be back for afternoon tea it looks amazing! the only draw back that i personally had was that it was a little quiet and lacked a few customers but i suppose thatll pick up in the future as they have only started food last week borjia is northamptons new place to hang!
