Awful food not recommended, chicken was inedible the pie was soggy the toilets were not clean and the whole pub reeked of body odour

First time in hear,just had a burger with blue cheese it was fantastic.all staff very friendly.

Held my sisters birthday meal and get together the staff were fantastic the food was great and delivered quickly and the day couldn’t have been better with great atmosphere

Well, what can I say? I booked a table for 5.00pm on 13th September 24 for my Autistic grandsons 11th birthday. That morning I had a call from the fantastic, kind, manager, asking if we would like a table in a less noisy area! And would we like some banners put up?. He showed so much kindness I was gobsmacked! He wanted to make sure that he did everything in his power to make sure my grandson was taken care of to the best of his ability. When we arrived, there were banners on the wall, AND a birthday card on the table from all the staff!!!!! How lovely was that?. I can honestly say, I have never, ever experienced so much kindness towards my grandson and our family. Oh, and the food was beyond lovely. A massive thank you to the fantastic manager and his amazing staff. We shall return 100%. Sharon Edwards.

The best iv tasted We went today the 29th August with our great granddaughter, we have been before and enjoyed it very much, I have to say we have tried 3 greenking’s in Northampton, But today the food was absolutely delicious, hubby had fish and chips, and it was all beautiful fish and light batter, I had the best gammon steak iv had for a very very long time, it was juicy and cut easily, The staff was so helpful and polite We will definitely be back A big Thank you to all fora lovely lunchtime meal

Friendly service definitely lacking on this visit...a smile or even an acknowledgement goes a long way.Not a busy Saturday afternoon.Food,scampi and 3 small plates were nice as is value for money.

Visited today 24/08/2024. Pub food great, presented lovely. Service great. The actual pub could do with new chairs and tidy up outside garden which is a great space.

It was a quiet evening when we went to The Trumpet but the food and drinks were wonderful. Would recommend. My husband had the mixed grill, which he really enjoyed, followed by the jam roly poly which he said was delicious. I ordered the katsu chicken curry which was very tasty, followed by the vegan lava cookie which was okay. We ordered the rosemary fries as extra but they didn't taste of rosemary at all, just salty.

The service was really friendly and efficient. The food was really good and came out quickly. Will definitely be back.

Went to Riverside Hub today and was looking for somewhere family friendly for something to eat. Had a lovely lunch today, good was fantastic, service was incredible. And such good value! Will definitely be returning!

The trumpet is our local pub. Great atmosphere in there. Food is always lovely, and always comes out hot, I would highly recommend the trumpet for food and drinks. Prices are good too. Keep up the good work all in the trumpet 👍

Decent food, big pub garden with a mix of sun and shade plus a tv screen outside to enjoy the Olympics with a cold glass of vino! Plenty of parking, nice decor, does the job nicely.

Went there on Sunday with a large group of25 people. Staff were very friendly. Food was hot, tasty and came pretty much all at the same time. One single waitress served us all and was super attentive . A big well done and thank you.

Lunch time meal. Chicken burger. Very tasty. Meal and drink deal Food was hot and good portion. Staff were friendly.

Unfortunately, one of our Halloumi Flatbread meals had some grainy, sand like thing in, what made this worse was that Stefan at the counter was unhelpful and rude, tried to justify the mistake, and reluctantly refunded for that meal, without apologising or letting us know the amount that would be refunded.

Overall it's a nice place but sadly my first impression at the counter, was extremely unhelpful; almost rude. I waited in a long queue to finally ask "do you sell mocktails?", expecting a yes/ no and further suggestion response. Instead the lady told me, in monotone, "drink menus on the table... Next!" So I had to look at the menu and rejoin another queue. Luckily, the next bartender was much more polite and reconfirmed what I was asking for. Sadly the first impression was an instant damper on my opinion of the place. I can only compare it to the Garibaldi, where the bartender happily whipped me up a mock-ito, even though it wasn't on the menu.

Popped in after completing Pretty Muddy Race for Life. Only stayed for 1 drink but the service was great. The bar staff were welcoming & accommodating

Great selection and value for money. Despite efforts of hosts, place is in need of a refresh as entrance road, tables, and seating show signs of aging. Would be good if TV screens gave choice of sports or non-sports so we had some seating options too.

Food was ok ,but why I write a review is the toilets they are awful you need to pay attention to this area we won’t come again due to going to the toilet was not good there was poop all over the seats the soap looked like it been in the bin and taken out again it was black with dirt wooden post behind loo to hold the toilet still I presume , mold on walls and windows , only good think I can take from this was there was toilet paper When going for a drink at some point your going to need to go to the toilets , even just make sure there clean once in a while

Our party of eight for lunch today was very impressed, the food was excellent quality and all arrived together, would definitely recommend the trumpet to everyone, thankyou for a lovely time x

Came with the family last weekend for Father’s Day. The food was fabulous and came promptly especially considering how busy they were but I particularly want to congratulate the staff for the service. Without exception they were all very friendly knowledgeable and clearly very happy in their work. I’ll be back again soon and I won’t be waiting until Father’s Day next year! Well done The Trumpet

Used to frequent and this pub over 30 years ago, returned tonight with the in-laws, I think the empty plates says it all great food lovely staff and good prices. I will be back..

First visit here big old pub. Monday night quiz night all tables reserved so guess what you can't sit down for food unless you sit outside. The drinks are nearly more expensive than the food .

Really disappointing visit to the Trumpet on Sunday. I looked online to see when they were open as I was very early to a christening just down the road and needed somewhere to get a drink for my one year old. I got dropped off at the Trumpet as it says it opens at 11.30am on google. I got there at 11.15am and waited outside. After waiting for well over half an hour for them to open, I called them at 11.58am to ask when they would be opening and explained it said 11.30am online and I had been waiting with my son for a while. I said this very politely, but was met with a clearly intentional rude tone, and the person on the end (who I assume was the manager after seeing her at the door) saying “we open at 12.00pm, I will open the doors at 12.00pm”. I reiterated that I was just calling to check as it says different online and just needed a drink for my son. She repeated “I’ll open the doors in a minute”. No, “sorry, the opening times are not correct online”, or offering to open the doors 2 minutes earlier, given I had been waiting since before 11.30am because of when it specifies they open online… nothing. Bang on 12pm she opens the door. No smile, no hello, didn’t even give eye contact. Made my way to the bar, smiled and said hello but was met with an equally rude and unenthusiastic bar tender, who might as well have told me to leave. Both of these staff members were genuinely some of the rudest staff I have ever come across in a pub, ever. Absolutely appalling customer service. I then bought a drink for myself and water for my son, I asked for a straw for my son and the bar tender said “they’re there” nodding her head to the other side of the bar. It was a very hot day so I wanted to sit outside. My son was in his buggy so in order to get my drinks to an outdoor table, I had to leave one drink on the bar and walk out to the garden area and come back with the buggy to get the second drink and head back to the table again… there were 3 staff and I was the only customer in the whole pub. Not one offered to bring my drink to the table to save me two trips with my son in tow. I was genuinely shocked by the disgraceful service I encountered here. The worst I’ve seen in a very long time. Do not recommend.

Very disappointing experience. Didn’t get as far as trying the food due to limited menu choice for a senior vegetarian with small appetite. Tried to order something from the kids menu but ‘not allowed’. Suggest updating menu selection and being more flexible to customer needs. Two customers lost to more accommodating establishments.

Visited here been several times. Last time the meal was slow coming but the food not too bad. This time arrived ordered food about 12.40 finally got served about 1.45 pm. My meal was poor. I have never had tough chicken before, the fact that it was hot was the only saving grace, if I had been with family I would have complained but because I was with friends I didn’t.

Food was actually alright! Unfortunately the service and atmosphere drastically changed when F1 was on the TV instead of the footy! Left a bitter taste in myself and my eyes bled in watching a car go round in circles. Chairs are in terrible condition. Looks like it’s been nibbled by rodents. Again, food was alright

Had lunch here Friday last, food was cooked well and also hot however found that the pub itself was a little cold otherwise all good

The lady behind the bar looked at my photo on my id and started taking the mick out of it and looked at me with disgust and started asking how old I was when I took the photo I’m absolutely fuming.then handed it to the man behind the bar who had previously served me and he denied my drivers licence because “the photo doesn’t look like me”

Tables need to be cleaned in eating area. Food was warm and just piled on plates.

My first time and had to wait 1hr for our food being told they only had one chef on duty, some of my food was cold,then another wait for those who had ordered a dessert, so much so they asked for their money back and cancelled their dessert order. Not a good experience and won't be back there.

I really enjoyed this pub - the food was great, the staff friendly and helpful and the service excellent. They were pushed with a full pub on the Saturday before Xmas and a match crowd in, and they still managed table service and a smile. Great interior, really relaxed and lovely atmosphere. Recommended.

Have just arrived home after an excellent lunch at the trumpet pub... my mother had gammon steak, chips I asked if my mother could have an an extra egg as she doesn't like garden peas they were most helpful, much appreciated. I had beef & ale pie absolutely delicious plenty meat and gravy inside pie..plates were hot as well which is rare in other eateries. Plus, we had apple and blackberry crumble with custard very yummy 😋. Young lad was our waiter friendly and polite as was the bar staff. Will definitely be going back in the near future.

Always a warm welcome and great atmosphere but New Years Eve took it to another level, such a great evening with landlady Becky, landlord Steve and their lovely daughter Mia, and of course the amazing staff who always look after everyone and make you feel at home, lots of dancing singing and laughter all evening, food here is best its ever been, so much to choose from and all delicious especially the Sunday roast, I could go on but would like to wish all at The Trumpet a Happy New Year x

We popped in after a busy day & was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. It's always been somewhere we have driven past on journeys, but never stopped. We're glad we did. Good food, efficient staff & good atmosphere.

First time out for Xmas the team at the Trumpet couldn't be better really good service and food thank you all for our day definitely recommend and we'll be back soon.

Had the best ever breakfast with Santa and the Grinch this morning. The children loved it .....and so did the parents and grandparents. Well done to all of the staff who worked so hard on top of everything else they do at this busy time of the year.

Booked festive menu and deposit paid. When we arrived quite obvious we were not expected for the special menu. Told it was a prebook and insisted I would have been called to take our order, but wasn't. No option to order online. Eventually told they could offer a limited festive menu, but even that was messed up. Starters were awful but in fairness turkey dinner and puddings were nice. Apologies not genuine and had to push not to be charged for everything. Not really good enough for a big chain. No festive decorations. Could have been any meal.

Went at 5pm on a Saturday never again so very noisy couldn't hear each other speaking.

Played the first half of the football and then switched channels randomly at half time. Despite us already buying drinks for the second half they refused to put it back on. I would get it if loads of people wanted the other channel but the bar tender completely ignored us. Didn't care at all, I found it very rude.

Very mediocre. It's not expensive, but not really great either. It is what it is.

Went for festive dinner was so looking forward to my first Christmas Dinner of the season with mum and dad and husband. Table looked great. We got our food and we were so disappointed in the turkey it was slimmy and spongy totally inedible. Two of us had the steak and it was very chewy . Needless to say won't be eating at the trumpet again.

Came to the pub for the quiz but felt the staff were very rude and a bit disrespectful. We have been moved every week and staff have not been understanding at all, the staff have not been helpful nor understanding very poor

28 of us weren't to the Trumpet for my 63rd birthday. We booked in advance and preordered our food which was a brilliant idea. After a small hiccup with not enough seats we had a brilliant time. The food was piping hot and came out together which makes such a difference to a big party. The staff were wonderful. Thank you for making my birthday special.

Went for dinner on a Thursday and had a good meal with friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere.

A group of 10 including a senior with dementia and 3 children under the autism umbrella arrived for Saturday lunch. We were seated together in an area which was private but still in a position to enjoy the general atmosphere. Food was excellent, nothing left on the plates. Service was fine, attentive without becoming intrusive. All in all well done.

Just such a lovely place, great food and lovely staff.

Went on busy Friday night and yes had to wait a few minutes to be served but the service was pleasant and quick, the staff were very friendly even though it was busy. The food was hot and very good, we had the small plates. The atmosphere was great and buzzing, we will defiantly be back.

Have become a regular at the Trumpet and tje service and food are always spot on. The staff are always welcoming and attentive. The service is fairly quick depending on how busy it is, and the food is always hot and tasty.

We called in for some food and a drink. The gammon steaks we had were excellent, thank you. We will definitely have them again.

After my friends drink was taken before he had finished it (honest mistake) he complained, the server said he would replace it. What was brought back can ONLY have been dregs from the drip tray filled into an empty bottle, completely flat and tasted foul. Truly disgusting! Wouldn’t come back for all the free beer in the world! If that’s what goes on in the bar I dread to think what might be happening in the kitchen!!

Visited the Trumpet today. Lovely service, including helping to seat my husband in his Wheelchair. Food arrived very quickly and piping hot. There was that much, I couldn't finish it all. Yes, full marks for everything...we will come again! Thank you very much, Renate and Fred England

I have not been into the trumpet in 10 years and thought the design and layout was great The bar service was just terrible and could not be less welcoming if you tried to make it worse time of visit about 16.48 on Friday 25th August

The food was excellent service great and a lovely afternoon was had buy all just problem no dessert of the family all ice cream war off the menu 😋.

Food menus are good value. However drinks seem over priced. £9 for large glass of red wine? Disappointing that at time of our visit, there were no Greene King beers available? Surely Greene King should be selling their own excellent beers, Abbot Ale?

Local pub for good priced drink and food

We ordered gammon & lasagne. The gammon was really nice but the lasagne was awful i could not eat it it was like eating glup no taste and stodgy . I complained to the person who collected our plates he said he would speak to the chef, but we had no come back? I strongly suggest stay clear of the lasagne its awful.

Food is good here and great service. Can even order on an app, also a good range of beers as well.
