Visited here been several times. Last time the meal was slow coming but the food not too bad. This time arrived ordered food about 12.40 finally got served about 1.45 pm. My meal was poor. I have never had tough chicken before, the fact that it was hot was the only saving grace, if I had been with family I would have complained but because I was with friends I didn’t.

Food was actually alright! Unfortunately the service and atmosphere drastically changed when F1 was on the TV instead of the footy! Left a bitter taste in myself and my eyes bled in watching a car go round in circles. Chairs are in terrible condition. Looks like it’s been nibbled by rodents. Again, food was alright

Lovely place had a delicious breakfast with friends all 60 of us good atmosphere well looked after

The lady behind the bar looked at my photo on my id and started taking the mick out of it and looked at me with disgust and started asking how old I was when I took the photo I’m absolutely fuming.then handed it to the man behind the bar who had previously served me and he denied my drivers licence because “the photo doesn’t look like me”

Had lunch here Friday last, food was cooked well and also hot however found that the pub itself was a little cold otherwise all good

Tables need to be cleaned in eating area. Food was warm and just piled on plates.

My first time and had to wait 1hr for our food being told they only had one chef on duty, some of my food was cold,then another wait for those who had ordered a dessert, so much so they asked for their money back and cancelled their dessert order. Not a good experience and won't be back there.

I really enjoyed this pub - the food was great, the staff friendly and helpful and the service excellent. They were pushed with a full pub on the Saturday before Xmas and a match crowd in, and they still managed table service and a smile. Great interior, really relaxed and lovely atmosphere. Recommended.

Have just arrived home after an excellent lunch at the trumpet pub... my mother had gammon steak, chips I asked if my mother could have an an extra egg as she doesn't like garden peas they were most helpful, much appreciated. I had beef & ale pie absolutely delicious plenty meat and gravy inside pie..plates were hot as well which is rare in other eateries. Plus, we had apple and blackberry crumble with custard very yummy 😋. Young lad was our waiter friendly and polite as was the bar staff. Will definitely be going back in the near future.

Always a warm welcome and great atmosphere but New Years Eve took it to another level, such a great evening with landlady Becky, landlord Steve and their lovely daughter Mia, and of course the amazing staff who always look after everyone and make you feel at home, lots of dancing singing and laughter all evening, food here is best its ever been, so much to choose from and all delicious especially the Sunday roast, I could go on but would like to wish all at The Trumpet a Happy New Year x

We popped in after a busy day & was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. It's always been somewhere we have driven past on journeys, but never stopped. We're glad we did. Good food, efficient staff & good atmosphere.

First time out for Xmas the team at the Trumpet couldn't be better really good service and food thank you all for our day definitely recommend and we'll be back soon.

Fabulous Breakfast with Santa and the Grinch today. Everyone, old and young, had a fabulous time and everyone worked so hard to make sure a good time was had by all. Well done to all the hard working staff, who ensured everything went so well. Being able to take photos with Santa and that naughty Grinch ensure no one forgets this day. Well done!

Had the best ever breakfast with Santa and the Grinch this morning. The children loved it .....and so did the parents and grandparents. Well done to all of the staff who worked so hard on top of everything else they do at this busy time of the year.

Booked festive menu and deposit paid. When we arrived quite obvious we were not expected for the special menu. Told it was a prebook and insisted I would have been called to take our order, but wasn't. No option to order online. Eventually told they could offer a limited festive menu, but even that was messed up. Starters were awful but in fairness turkey dinner and puddings were nice. Apologies not genuine and had to push not to be charged for everything. Not really good enough for a big chain. No festive decorations. Could have been any meal.

Went at 5pm on a Saturday never again so very noisy couldn't hear each other speaking.

Played the first half of the football and then switched channels randomly at half time. Despite us already buying drinks for the second half they refused to put it back on. I would get it if loads of people wanted the other channel but the bar tender completely ignored us. Didn't care at all, I found it very rude.

We only stopped off for one quick drink but the staff were friendly and helpful and the cocktail was delicious! There was a nice relaxed atmosphere so I'd definitely go back again!

Very mediocre. It's not expensive, but not really great either. It is what it is.

Saturday meal out with friends - opted for the festive menu. Great food great staff would highly recommend. Meal was delicious hot and presentation was perfect. We had the Christmas dinner and both the Christmas burger and the meat free option. Staff made us welcome and friendly thank you to the team there

Went for festive dinner was so looking forward to my first Christmas Dinner of the season with mum and dad and husband. Table looked great. We got our food and we were so disappointed in the turkey it was slimmy and spongy totally inedible. Two of us had the steak and it was very chewy . Needless to say won't be eating at the trumpet again.

Came to the pub for the quiz but felt the staff were very rude and a bit disrespectful. We have been moved every week and staff have not been understanding at all, the staff have not been helpful nor understanding very poor

Great food great staff would highly recommend. Meal was delicious hot and presentation was perfect .Will deffo go back. The lady who served me was lovely shame I didn't get name. But was a pleasure to eat there .

28 of us weren't to the Trumpet for my 63rd birthday. We booked in advance and preordered our food which was a brilliant idea. After a small hiccup with not enough seats we had a brilliant time. The food was piping hot and came out together which makes such a difference to a big party. The staff were wonderful. Thank you for making my birthday special.

Had such an amazing afternoon in the Trumpet celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. The Christmas decorations were beautiful and the staff were AMAZING! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon

Went for dinner on a Thursday and had a good meal with friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere.

A group of 10 including a senior with dementia and 3 children under the autism umbrella arrived for Saturday lunch. We were seated together in an area which was private but still in a position to enjoy the general atmosphere. Food was excellent, nothing left on the plates. Service was fine, attentive without becoming intrusive. All in all well done.

Just such a lovely place, great food and lovely staff.

Went on busy Friday night and yes had to wait a few minutes to be served but the service was pleasant and quick, the staff were very friendly even though it was busy. The food was hot and very good, we had the small plates. The atmosphere was great and buzzing, we will defiantly be back.

Have become a regular at the Trumpet and tje service and food are always spot on. The staff are always welcoming and attentive. The service is fairly quick depending on how busy it is, and the food is always hot and tasty.

We called in for some food and a drink. The gammon steaks we had were excellent, thank you. We will definitely have them again.

After my friends drink was taken before he had finished it (honest mistake) he complained, the server said he would replace it. What was brought back can ONLY have been dregs from the drip tray filled into an empty bottle, completely flat and tasted foul. Truly disgusting! Wouldn’t come back for all the free beer in the world! If that’s what goes on in the bar I dread to think what might be happening in the kitchen!!

First visit to the pub and it was OK.

Visited the Trumpet today. Lovely service, including helping to seat my husband in his Wheelchair. Food arrived very quickly and piping hot. There was that much, I couldn't finish it all. Yes, full marks for everything...we will come again! Thank you very much, Renate and Fred England

I have not been into the trumpet in 10 years and thought the design and layout was great The bar service was just terrible and could not be less welcoming if you tried to make it worse time of visit about 16.48 on Friday 25th August

Food menus are good value. However drinks seem over priced. £9 for large glass of red wine? Disappointing that at time of our visit, there were no Greene King beers available? Surely Greene King should be selling their own excellent beers, Abbot Ale?

The food was excellent service great and a lovely afternoon was had buy all just problem no dessert of the family all ice cream war off the menu 😋.

Nice place and friendly staff but table was dirty and sticky. Menu was sticky and filthy.. food was ok ish for standard pub grub!! Ladies toilets were absolutely disgusting 🤢

Local pub for good priced drink and food

We ordered gammon & lasagne. The gammon was really nice but the lasagne was awful i could not eat it it was like eating glup no taste and stodgy . I complained to the person who collected our plates he said he would speak to the chef, but we had no come back? I strongly suggest stay clear of the lasagne its awful.

It was a very quiet Thursday lunchtime. Staff very friendly and helpful and the food was hot and tasty.

Food is good here and great service. Can even order on an app, also a good range of beers as well.

Used to frequent and this pub over 30 years ago, returned tonight with the in-laws, I think the empty plates says it all great food lovely staff and good prices. I will be back.

Went on in on Sunday with my wife for Sunday lunch and have to say it was one of the best pub Sunday lunches we have had. It was pipping hot and plenty of it , we ordered extras and struggled to eat it all. We visit the Trumpet quite often as the service is really good and the staff are always friendly. Its the first time we gave had a Sunday dinner here and it won't be the last.

Went for a family meal and even though it was quite busy the staff were friendly and helpful when I asked about a non gluten menu. The food came out quicker than we were expecting and it was really good. A member if the team came and checked on us and asked if we needed anything else at which point I ask if we could get more drinks which they took the order at the table and then bought the drinks to us which was a lovely touch. We will definitely come back.

Went out for a meal as quite a big group, our table got declined alcoholic drinks because the pregnant lady on our table didn’t have her ID, who would have thought that everyone going out for a meal would need to take there ID with them to a meal when they had no intentions of drinking alcohol in the first place. A shame really as we have been here for meals before and did not have this issue last time with people not having their ID. Saw several other families sat down at dinner who clearly because they looked a lot older did not need to be ID’d. If people were with their children they wouldn’t have to show ID to order an alcoholic beverage. More than likely won’t be returning here. Toilets were also more than disgusting. Dirty, broken toilet seats, no soap in the bathrooms. Toilet floors in both toilets were filthy and disgusting. I even had to put tissue on the seat just so my daughter could do for a wee in there!

Sadly gone downhill, long overdue for a refurbishment and a very good clean, most of the seat cushions were dirty and the food mediocre.

Bit pricey on the beer but overall a very nice pub with friendly staff. I have eaten there in the past and the food is very nice.

Walked in for Sunday lunch. Loud tribute singer made it impossible to talk. Walked out.

Didn't know they had entertainment on. It was at 93 decibels which was uncomfortable and we couldn't hear each other. Had a drink and left. Did report the levels to the staff but nothing was done. Won't be going back.

I had Sunday lunch yesterday. It was amazing , everything was cooked to perfection.. lovely roast potatoes, Turkey and Yorkshire pudding . Compliments to the chef

Excellent service from Stefan at the bar. Very polite and friendly taking our order and pointing out different deals available. Lovely manner, confidence and smile. Food was delicious too.

On the outside, the Trumpet looks like an normal pub but appearances are deceptive. My mother and I regular visitors to the Trumpet for Sunday lunch. The lunch is very good value for money, the food is excellent and so is the service.

I play poker on a Thursday night, good food, friendly staff and happy crowd. If there is a football game it will be on the many screens in the pub.

Went yesterday for Sunday dinner. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the dinner including meat, vegetables and Puddings. What let it down for us was the dark haired young waiter who banged all plates , cutlery on the table, he clearly didn’t want no to be there.

Wow, yum, amazing! Heading towards Oxford from the north we wanted a dog friendly stop for dinner. A quick look online and I found the Trumpet, not far from the a43. I rang to check they were serving food and would be happy for us to arrive with a dog and it was a Yes! when we arrived they’d reserved a booth for us! The beer is good, the wine too! We ordered a few starters, a salad and a fish and chips to share and it was delicious. Crispy squid, plump Chicken wings, soft chewy pretzel, nicely dressed salad and a really good cod n chips. We were made to feel very welcome, a bowl of water for the dog and lots of petting. Friendly customers! They also have a doggy menu!! And a very reasonable price! We will definitely try to travel via the Trumpet again! Huge thanks to the team X

The team at the Trumpet put on the most wonderful brunch wake today for 45 people.Not only did they open especially early for us as the funeral was at 9am but Becky and Steve gave up their holiday to ensure everything went to plan.The food drinks and service were fab and everyone enjoyed it.Nothing was too much trouble and eventhough one person was very late Becky cooked some more food for them. Thank you from all the family

I went to the trumpet on tuesday 24th January.. my first visit .. must say the bar staff were extremely helpful and friendly...The food was very nice too i had lasagna with garlic bread and salad .. came out hot very tasty and nicely presented on the plate..cant fault any of it ... well done to you all ..i shall definitely be returning

3/5 simply because the Staff were extremely friendly. However, the food was absolutely terrible. Cold flavourless steak, burger looked and tasted worse than a chip van. Salad looked old, and the chips were simply dry.

Works Christmas do was here! Amazing food and amazing atmosphere! Bar staff where all very professional! The absolute best! Would highly reccomend to anyone for any type of large event! Catered to allergies very well, amazing place!

We were celebrating a family birthday today, 4 adults, 2 fussy teenagers and 2 children. Wow! What can I say, but I was so impressed with the variety on the menu. I don’t eat meat, so usually I am limited as I I don’t like...

I'd give more stars if possible! We came today for our Christmas Dinner (first time not cooking myself) and wow is all I have to say. The food was amazing and the staff were incredibly wonderful, upbeat and friendly. By far the best Christmas Day we have had. We will be back next year 100%. Also what fab staff posing for a picture! Thank you!
