Church Restaurant in Northampton

Went with friends for their Sunday Roast Club event. Beautiful setting with great staff. When for the trio of meats. Good size portions with plenty of extras. Exceptional service. Will definitely return again.

If I could give this more stars I would, I had my wedding here and it was AMAZING (as every wedding should be) the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect Special mention to the lovely Izzy (hope I spelt it right) who not only worked hard doing her normal work but also kept the kids entertained and they absolutely adored her Also a massive thanks to Jodie who made sure everyone was where they were supposed to be when they were supposed to be there and overseeing the whole day making sure all my dreams came true And Shannon who put up with my bridezilla moments over menu changes and helped arrange everything The food was amazing too so glad we did change the menu lol Again cannot thank you all enough for my perfect day and highly recommend to anyone planning their wedding

Went to the Mamma Mia night hosted at the Church Restaurant and what an amazing place to eat, drink and socialise! The rooms are beautiful and were decorated in a Greek taverna theme! All the waiting staff were attentive and courteous from start to finish. The food was absolutely outstanding and clean plates all round! The whole event was well planned and executed! The entertainment ‘Abba re-Bjorn’ just made the night even better! We will definitely return to this well run and thoroughly lovely restaurant! Thanks for a fab night!!

We had a family do here and it was amazing ! The staff were fantastic , food and drink great ! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone

Paid for a valentines meal for two which included an alcoholic drink on arrival. Being pregnant (and not that you need a reason to not drink alcohol), I asked what the alternative was. I was told by the two teenagers who greeted us that there was no alternative unless I wanted a glass of water. We went to the bar and I asked the barman, he said the same but could see how that was pretty unfair and said he would get me a soft drink if I was discreet about it. WTF?! Meal was postponed for over 30 minutes because two bookings were apparently late. The food did not replicate the set meal we paid for. There were elements missing altogether from every course and the staff were so young and inexperienced. The ‘manager’, was completely out of her depth, the chef rude via the waitresses when we complained and it was just really a total shambles. We will never return, would not recommend and think it’s totally overpriced with tiny portions.

The only good thing about the food was that there WASN'T a lot of it. It was inedible. Did the chef turn up? The pork tenderloin was so tough, and I'm talking day old leather left out in the sun. The duck was string. The chicken dry and overcooked. The portions were very small with pointless foods on the plate (one slither of carrot, a blob of something green etc). The desserts were equally awful. I had the chocolate tart, and that was so cold and hard I thought it was still frozen. The baked apple had no apple. The DJ played teeny-bopping music all night and it was much too loud for the small room. I take it the restaurant has been taken over by 'Design your Night'? A company that is only after profit and not customer satisfaction.

Cold soup no bread roll. Pork tepid, sent back got replacement still tepid large fat around had two actual mouthfuls of food , needed a hacksaw for crackling. Supposed to be a black tie event, let in people in jeans trainers and canvas shoes open neck shirts. Not as advertised. Dj played club Ibiza stuff most of time lots of guests fed up. Best thing was the staff who were helpful and nice. Let down by poor quality food and dj didn’t recognise the audience was over 18 The venue was nice but cold ! Best bit Prosecco at midnight Not worth £85 per head Will never return, disappointed!!!

We went to the murder mystery evening. The food was trying to hard to be posh and pretentious aka small portions! Expensive for very little and not great quality either. The wild mushroom soup was nice but I couldn’t have told you what flavor it was supposed to be, rather than serving it with a bread roll it was served with lentils and a twist of carrot! The main a lot of us had was shin of beef cottage pie, you know when the best thing on the plate are the roasted carrots that something is wrong! There were 3 quinnels of crusted dried up potato with a slab of fatty gross shin of beef. When we complained that the meat was tough fatty and horrible the chef said well it is shin of beef! Either use a better cut or research how to actually cook it!! There was no sauce or gravy when we asked they brought us some lovely gravy what a waste though that they didn’t put it on the plate! My friend had the pork it was a lovely piece of pork but no potatoes just a shallot and a aubergine relish again only one teaspoon of sauce meaning the dish was dry. The pudding was the best course but one of my profiteroles was empty. There was no drink menus anywhere around although the lady at the bar was lovely. The murder mystery itself was good until the end and we could see them stood next to us deciding who the murderer was - this should already be decided it shouldn’t be done at the end depending on which suspects only had one vote. Will not be coming again or recommend them.

I understand the church has recently either changed management or ownership again and is now an event venue rather than restaurant and if the rest of the events are anything like this we will be there! My partner and I found the service a complete shock after our last visit. We were greeted at the door by a lovely young lady whose name I missed unfortunately. Our waitress was Molly and she was great, nothing was ever too much fuss and perfectly balanced being attentive without being intrusive. The food however stole the show. We both had scallops to start which were delightful and perfectly cooked and the charred bacon complimented them and the peas perfectly. We shared the beef Wellington main which wa a great idea on the menu and looked amazing!! The beef was the most tender I have ever eaten. It was slightly on the rare side for my taste but perfectly suited my partner and then despite being so full we both had passion fruit panna Cotta sweet which was fruity and creamy. I had to look at the menu again at what the extra taste was and it was Prosecco jelly 😍😍😍 All in all a perfect evening thank you

So, we were looking forward to valentines night at The Church as it appeared to have good reviews but unfortunately we didn’t think it was great, when we arrived we had to wait in the foyer/bar area until everyone had arrived, we ordered drinks and had to stand for 20 minutes at the bar, (the mrs feet was killing her) I went and asked if I could get a seat for her and we were told that we could now join the long queue to be seated. Once we were in the venue did look lovely, the tables were nicely spaced and decorated, the atmosphere felt lovely. Unfortunately from there it wasn’t great, the mrs starter the scallops were mushy and the bacon was burnt, however my starter the soup was ok just very small. Next was the mains, we had the Beef Wellington with, the beef was tough and not rare, the pastry was soggy and burnt at the top although tasted ok, all the veg was bland with no seasoning and the potatoes, well they were absolutely horrible, we were supposed to have parmentier potatoes but instead seemed to have some plain stale disks of what seemed to be oven cooked with no seasoning whatsoever. We didn’t eat very much of the mains at all. The raspberry & pistachio cannoli dessert again tasted stale just like it was prepared two days before the event, and the passion fruit panna cotta was ok. So overall we were expecting better, it was £55 pp for just the food for 3 courses set menu, it wouldn’t have scored so highly if the venue & decorations weren’t so great. It is a shame though as it could have been a lovely night, we won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend if you like nice food. Lastly is customer service, this was a strange one, it was very methodical, no personality in any of the staff, no hello, how are you? I had to ask for a knife 4 times, I didn’t get any gravy with my food, and when we went to the main bar to pay at the end we had to queue for that too and when we did pay, there was no “thank you for your custom” they just started talking to the next person. Very strange

Stef and his whole team were wonderful and friendly hosts in what is a uniquely amazing setting, have never known such friendly staff in a restaurant! In advance of the evening I organised with Stef what would be a surprise dinner party for 11 - all of my questions were answered and I was able to arrange the table in advance. On the evening the hospitality was fantastic and the food magnificent- everyone enjoyed themselves and the food and would all come again without hesitation. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

There's a bit of a wow when you walk into the church. I was expecting a humble chapel, it's more of a high ceilinged, stained-glass proper church. But the friendly greeting and pleasingly well-spaced tables make for a warm and welcoming vibe. Service continued to be friendly, helpful and efficient throughout - thanks to our server, Alex. Our steak (cooked just as requested), chips (plump, fluffy, crispy), with pea shoots, mushroom, vine tomatoes and garlic butter couldn't be faulted either. Nor could the wine. Would return!

For our wedding anniversary my wife and I could not have wished for a better evening than the one offered by all the Church Restaurant staff. The friendly welcome we received and attentive service throughout our evening from Stefan and Georgie was fabulous. The cocktails were a knockout - so much so we had to have three each to confirm how good they were. The food was excellent. We had starters and mains and could not find fault with any of the dishes - lovely fresh produce, great presentation and very generous portions. Thank you Stefan and Georgie and the kitchen staff for making our special evening so memorable.

We have visited the restaurant twice recently. Once for Sunday lunch which was so good we returned for dinner. Wow. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. No wonder the chef is up for an award. Thanks to new manager Stef (who is definitely on the ball) and waitress Georgie for the impeccable yet unobtrusive service. Lovely touch having fresh herbs on the tables. The attention to detail was spot on. Can’t end without mentioning the cocktails. Best I’ve ever had with fresh passion fruit (tho I hate the name ‘Pornstar’).

It has been sometime since my partner and I visited the Church restaurant and we were most certainly not disappointed. The food was amazing, our waiter Stefan was attentive but unobtrusive, and friendly, as were all the staff. At first glance the menu appeared limited, however, every dish was cooked to perfection. All dishes were well worth the modest prices charged, great atmosphere and amazing value for money. Thank you for a lovely evening and compliments to the chef. We will be back very soon.

Booked a Sunday lunch after another restaurant cancelled our reservation... What a lucky result! This was one of the best meals we've had in a long time and wouldn't hesitate to go again. The beef and stilton pie was exceptional and the service by Miranda was top notch. Very professional and a beautiful setting to boot. Don't think twice about booking a meal here!

Myself and my husband visited The Church for the first time last night after hearing good things about it and we werent disappointed. It was very covid-friendly with tables spaced out appropriately. There wasnt a huge selection on the menu but there was something for everyone and our food was amazing no complaints whatsoever. The staff were very professional and attentive. Thank you to Miranda and Leo for such great service I'm sure we'll see you soon as we will definitely be coming back!

Booked a table for dinner at 7, was taken back by the marvellous environment they have created and it was only complimented by amazing food and spectacular table service by miranda and Leo.

Tonight my husband and I came to the restaurant for a meal. It’s our 10th Wedding Anniversary and my husband had booked a table with yourselves as over the years we have had lovely meals at the restaurantUnfortunately tonight wasn’t such an experience. I don’t usually write emails but out of pure annoyance and frustration I find myself writing this one. The whole experience from us arriving to us leaving was one of great disappointment. There was a larger group of diners on the mezzanine floor, we were told by our waitress once seated she would be back in 2 or 3 minutes to take out drinks order, this was way more as she then helped serve mains to the group booking.Our menus were different when we opened them, my husbands had no starters page, we had to ask for a correct menu, once Katie came back she then took our meal choices and drinks order. My husband ordered a Budweiser to which we were told she wasn’t sure if they sold Bud and she would find out. I ordered a Mojito. We were informed there was no Bacardi so I couldn’t have my drink, I chose a processco, the drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive, however when they did, there was a mojito as turns out you did have barcardiOur antipasta was served and before we’d finished and it could clearly be seen we weren’t, we were asked if we had finished. I replied no and waitress went off, we’d hardly finished our mouthfuls and again she was over asking if we’d finished. Plates were cleared and our mains turned up shortly after. Mains were sea bass and pulledPork with a side order of sautéed veg. We were disappointed by the meals but neither of us said to each other at the time as we were trying to make the most of the evening even though we were already disappointed by being left and then rushed to eat our antipasta. Our meals had clearly sat under heat lamps/ or a hot plate as we hadn’t finished quick enough with the antipasta as the skin on the sea bass had burn marks from Heat lamps, the mash was stodgy and the peas were burnt.My husband later told me the pork ball was all soggy as had been sat on the jus that was on the plate. Both meals were bland and lacked seasoning and certainly wasn’t up the standard we expected. When this was cleared away, we were asked if we wanted desserts, when we replied no, we were told ok I’ll bring the bill!!! When the bill came and the card machine was brought over, we were run asked if we wanted to tip!!!!! Surely that is not something you should be asking in such an abrupt manner???????????from arriving to leaving was roughly a hour, at no point was this a relaxing celebration meal, it was rushed, we were made to feel an inconvenience and had ruined our evening. my husband and I had both kept quiet at our disappointment as not to ruin the evening for each other, however I was upset when got outside and I nearly came back in to talk to the management. My husband told me to leave it but I’ve come home and decided I wanted to let you know how poor of an experience you delivered tonight as would hate other diners to have to have the same and also a thanks for running what was meant to be a celebration meal/evening

Service has really gone downhill since we were there Oct. Staff were ok but the place lacks warmth from staff, flat atmosphere and on arrival no mention that beef was not available from the limited choices on the menu. Service was slow and the rhythm of the place has gone. What has happened ???

Visited The Church Restaurant today as I had a Groupon for a meal for 2. Me my husband and 10 year old daughter. The expiry clearly states 30/11/21. We got our meals in a not so busy restaurant apart from a large table other than us. The 2 course Sunday lunch was ok I just found the beef very little of and it was brisket style so stringy and wet. I would not personally choose here for a roast dinner because of the price and quality of the meat to what I would get at other good restaurants. The veg etc was good and meal presented well. We eat out a lot and count ourselves as good food critics. It saddens me to when I ask for the bill the young girl looked horrified when I mentioned I had a groupon for two. She went on to get somebody out which I’m assuming was the manager who informed me that the groupon expired 1/9/21. He really wasn’t interested that it said in black and white 30/12/21 which groupon have on the website a huge national company. He said I would need to get a refund from groupon as they have problems with groupon. I explained that really it should be up to them to get the money of groupon as I’ve already paid out for this voucher? They have a contract with groupon not me the consumer? They insisted I pay the full bill which fortunately I can do but other people in the same position may not have accounted for this which is why I am making this review. At the moment I’m out of pocket and it’s seems the church restaurant have been paid twice.They also gave me an email address to complain I think knowing that the person is on annual leave according to the automatic reply which states the person is back in the office 16/09 (11 days times)!!!!.Restaurant looks great but unfortunately has stopped me from returning to even give another meat choice a try. Shame because when we like a restaurant we return return return and sing praises to others to try too.

Had chorizo and king prawns pot and seared fillet steak. Best I've tasted in a long time. Staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely visit again when around this way.

Booked table for my family of 4 to celebrate a special occasion. We were given an earlier time at 19:15 as the restruarant had booking later in the evening. On arrival there were no other guests, we were shown to our table by a young waiter, he walked away as we sat down, we thought once we settled down he'll bring over the menus and maybe take our drinks orders. But to our disappointment, he didn't come back. My daughter had to get up and go and request for the menus. By then 2 other guests had arrived and they were already given a menu on arrival.Following on, we ordered our drinks and food which took an extremely long time to come out, once the food arrived the waitress just walked off, she did not offer any sauce or checked if we wanted anything else. We had to try and catch one of the waiters attention to request for sauce. Food was average, nothing fine about it, there were no check backs to see whether our food was OK, as a matter of fact, we felt there were no interest in us. After our main course was finished, we ordered our desserts, once again it was late coming out, it took almost 45 min. Overall the waiting service was extremely poor. Food was average, nothing to shout about. I booked this restaurant to have a good experience following our celebrations, but we were extremely disappointed and would not recommend the restaurant.

My partner and I went for a meal here on Sunday 22nd August. The decor inside is fabulous I can see why it’s a popular wedding venue. We were seated upstairs and had a wonderful waitress called Miranda, a funny attentive girl who made our meal more enjoyable. There were a few hiccups with the the food ordering but Miranda soon put that right and it was worth waiting for. Both my partner and I had the Sunday roast pork with all the trimmings and the plate was full. The food was tasty too. For dessert I had strawberry pavlova and my partner had millionaires chocolate tart and they too were scrumptious. I would definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant especially if you are going to the Derngate theatre

Took advantage of Sunday Roast for two with two course's was a disappointed they had run out of beef so went for pork which was nice and melted in your mouth, great veggies but the potatoes were soft and not crispy and the yorkshire pud was a little tough to cut, friend had the soup he said that was lovely and we both had dessert which were lovely, really enjoyed going the place is amazing and the staff are friendly and attentive.

We had Sunday Roast it was extremely nice, all staff were friendly and helpful. Food was cooked to perfection and the sweets are to die for, would recommend this to every one.

Six of us booked Sunday lunch here today and we weren’t disappointed. The meals were hot , delicious and well presented. The staff ( particularly Miranda) were attentive and very personable. Nothing was too much trouble a great time was had by all. We will definitely be booking again.

The food was excellent and not too heavy, portion size excellent, and our waitress Georgina was very attentive and accommodating. Would have loved a broader selection of wines and the cream on the pavlova didn't taste too fresh, but otherwise great!

Miranda was fantastic and the service she provided was first class. We will certainly be returning. The food was amazing.

My husband took myself and daughter to celebrate our wedding anniversary.Beautiful setting and atmosphere.Food was very good, with a good choice including vegetarian options.Unfortunately, we felt service was a little lacking in relation to the setting and high level expected. We had a young waiter, Leo, serving us and I feel although he was trying he would benefit from more training and developing people skills.Clearing plates away while people are still eating and rushing through the courses, made us feel like staff just wanted to go home. With a table booking at 8.15pm I don't feel this was late and shouldn't have been rushed, which detracted further from what should have been an exceptional evening. The final note was having to ask for an after dinner Brandy three times before actually getting one. When Leo asked which brandy we would like, my husband asked what choice there was, to be told "er dunno" and shrugged shoulders! I think this highlights the inexperience of the younger staff members. I realise currently that staff can be in short supply due to the covid situation, but they should be trained at least to a standard fitting for such a high end establishment. Also if staff want to go home by 9pm then maybe limit table bookings to 7.30pm latest. If service standards could be improved this could be an exceptional restaurant.

Found this place by chance and we are so glad we did. Beautiful restaurant, and the food was amazing! Such a lovely atmosphere too and the staff were lovely; particularly our waiter Leo. You really must try this place; I promise you won’t be disappointed.

5* service from when we arrived to when we left, lovely little place for a romantic meal, a little known gem in the middle of Northampton made extra special with Miranda our waitress, who was superb throughout, also Manager Julie was very friendly, making our experience here a joy, thank you so much

Great venue food okay staff very friendly and efficient we had Sunday lunch fixed menu it was a chilly day so we had soup to start curried cauliflower couldn’t taste much cauliflower Our waitress Miranda brilliant

My wife and I got marrier here in December 2020. We returned today for a groupon 2 course Sunday lunch. The service by Miranda was very good. The food and drinks were all fantastic, we will definitely return.

We had a great evening at The Church. It is a great place to visit and we fantastic service from both Georgina and Leo.

A great meal at the Church… the fillet steak was unreal with the blue cheese sauce… and awesome waitress Miranda taking very good care of us!! Highly recommend!!!

Another fabulous experience, Miranda looked after us with food recommendations, attentive without being overly so and judged how often to check-in with us. A lovely Sunday afternoon with great atmosphere.If you fancy good food with top service...ask for Miranda and she will definitely look after you.

I really like the food it was delicious and nice. I loved the presentation tooI didn't try the burger of the week but I should have because it was tandoori chicken breast but it looked nice. I was too full from the soup of the day, which was tomato and basil served with warm bread and butter which was delicious and my main which was also very delicious, it was pork bell and I had triple cooked chips with it. The setting is unbelievable, along with the ambiance and acoustics of the music, I recommend it

My husband and I enjoyed a truly delicious meal at The Church, everything was cooked to perfection and so tasty! The real highlight of our evening, however, was our waitress, Miranda. She was just brilliant, attentive, charming and so funny. She really did make our evening extra special.

Staying nearby and asked where we could eat and were told The Church. A genuine church tastefully converted. The food is absolutely superb yet reasonably priced and the service by Miranda was exceptional. Cannot wait to return.and would have no reservations in recommending this to anyone.

It’s a beautiful location but unfortunately the food quality doesn’t match. I had the roast chicken, my husband had the brisket and we were both underwhelmed and disappointed. Chicken breast was dry (easy to do) but the potatoes and stuffing were difficult to cut with a knife. There was a large gap between our starters and I noticed the staff not checking in on the kitchen. When they did, 2 tables mains came out straight away- I imagine it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time- which could explain the dry, hard food. There were 4 tables and 3 servers. This is a stunning location and it’s a shame to see it have an average (at best) operation with front and back of house. It lacks finesse and respect this church very much deserves.

We visited Church Restaurant during our weekend in Northampton whilst attending the British Grand Prix. Looking on their website it offered a three course meal for £25.00 if I remember correctly, so pre ordered some things from the Vegan menu as they suggested. When we got there we were told they no longer do the three courses. This had an impact on what we wanted to order but nonetheless the food was stunning. Chicken Wings + Prawn / Chorizo pot for starts, just divine. Both of which got us so excited for the mains! We both got steak, one rump and one sirloin. Both were cooked to perfection. Peppercorn sauce was lovely, the mushroom was seasoned so well and the vined tomatoes a great touch. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert but it sounded stunning. The bar area when you first walk in was stunning, lit up in pink with a variety of drinks on offer. Service was great, felt very well looked after and informed. Thank you to Julie the manager and Georgina our waitress who made the whole experience enjoyable. One great things about Northampton, tempted to return just to eat at The Church!

Visited 21st July 2021 - Pre Jimmy Carr at the Derngate meal and our first time out in ages without having to wear a mask. On such a hot day it was lovely to sit in a building with a cool air flow. We were shown to our table and looked after by Georgina who was fabulous. We shared the Bread & Oil and Chicken wings which were very tasty (I will certainly have my own portion next time as they're too good to share).I had the fillet steak (medium rare) and my wife had the Seabass. We both enjoyed the mains very much along with a couple of Pinot Grigios and Las Ondas Cabernet Sauvignon - which was served at a lovely room temperature and had a slight port like taste, which I love. No room for dessert on this visit, but will going back very soon now things are getting back to normal. Whole meal came to £74.30 which after a long lockdown is very good value. We both left saying how lovely Georgina was and agreed the Church is now our best in town.

We visited here on Saturday evening. It was our second visit, our last about 3 years ago. Then I thought the restaurant was good but could be better, on this visit, I think it was perfect. The welcome and service throughout was great, with Julie, the manager and Georgina being exceptionally attentive and very pleasant. It was a very warm evening and we were pleased that the restaurant was cool and airconditioned. We started with King Prawn and Chorizo dish, which was delicious. Our mains were the Pork belly and Pan-fried Sea Bass. We were recommended by Julie to have a side dish of sautéed vegetables, which was a welcome addition. My wife said the Sea Bass was delicious and I thought my slow cooked pork belly , was delicious and beautifully presented with a wafer of crackling and pork hock and cheek Bon Bon, along with a tangy cider jus. I would certainly have that again. We finished with deserts of Pavlova and a Shortbread tart. Along with a few Gins and with fevertree tonics the whole bill came to about £83, which I thought was very reasonable.I would recommend a visit here.

We were in town for the British GP at Silverstone and found this place to be perfect for a crowd with a palate for modern cuisine. If you are an international visitor like us, this is the place to go in Northampton. Probably the most upscale place in town, but still very affordable, welcoming, and unpretentious. Great hospitality and service all around, from the moment we were greeted upon arrival to the moment we left. Our server, Georgina, was attentive and friendly. The venue is the result of a stunning modern renovation that still preserves the charming authentic bits of an old church. The food was good beyond our expectations — we tried the prawn and chorizo and the Greek salad as starters, the steak and the pork belly as mains, and the pavlova for dessert. The pork belly was probably the highlight. Portions are generous and very creatively presented in artsy ways.

Excellent quality food and good service. We ate here on a Thursday evening (5 adults, 1 child) to celebrate end of school. We ordered starters, mains and desserts. All the courses were tasty and well presented.

The food was amazing. The beef I would recommend to anyone who comes. The service was immaculate from Georgina and Miranda! Would definitely come here again :)

We were fortunate to hold our wedding reception here! What a brilliant place excellent good drinks and staff! Big shout out to Michela Derriman the wedding planner who ensure everything went so smoothly! Our day was perfect despite all the Covid restrictions due to the ambiance this venue provides. Highly recommend not only for weddings but also for restaurant meals !

Absolutely fabulous independent restaurant. Great setting for a meal with original stained glass windows. The lamb harissa burger was fantastic. Well worth a visit.

Absolutely best restaurant in northampton, nothing else like it In town, I'm used to having to go to London or Birmingham to find a restaurant like this, the good quality makes you want to come back then you add in the friendly and attentive staff with a local feel and it tops the chart and I though I'd end up paying double what I actually spent... it actually makes you want to leave a generous tip... fully recommend and will be returning soon.

Visited here on their first night of reopening. Food was really tasty and the menu had a good range of options with decent portion sizes too. The venue is also lovely and had a really nice atmosphere and felt well organised with covid measures in place.

My daughter had her wedding ceremony and reception here a week ago. absolutly perfect for a small gathering. Food was lovely and Michaela and her team were amazing and level of service was excellent.

Our son got married here 20 Dec having had to scale down to here from a larger event planned at a different venue for earlier in the year. The historic building is beautifully presented, the food and service excellent, and the host Mikaela is just superb. She was welcoming, friendly and attentive to the bride & groom and guests every need, and particularly great in dealing with all the Covid guidelines and restrictions. We were concerned that the day would not be as special but were delighted with the whole experience. Well done Mikaela and your wonderful team!

My partner and I visited the restaurant and had their Christmas menu. The restaurant has a very high standard of cleanliness and we both felt COVID safe . Food and service was excellent and very tasty excellent value . There were only 4 tables including us there which is a real shame I’m sure things will pick up once COVID restrictions are lifted. I highly recommend this restaurant the food and service is second to mine and we will be back !

I have never been to this restaurant before but I have heard such great things so I decided to book for Christmas afternoon tea with my friends, however due to being in tier 2 I decided to change my booking to myself, husband and 5year old daughter.It was the best decision I made!! The restaurant was beautiful and staff were very friendly and helpful.The food.... amazing!!!! My 5year old is not a fussy eater but the chef was offering to make her something else. This was not needed but very comforting to know.We will defiantly be going back again for a main meal and fingers crossed they do afternoon tea for Mother’s Day with those delicious turkey sandwiches.

Staff went up and beyond to help and serve us tonight! Food was amazing, my steak literally melted in the mouth! Absolutely gorgeous! Will be recommending to all friends and family and will most definitely be returning again soon! When my husband had booked, originally for our first wedding anniversary we didn’t know what the current climate would hold as far as the pandemic. He told the staff when booking it was for an anniversary and we were surprised by the most gorgeous desert! Michaela and her team were fab, friendly and covid-safe! Was an amazing meal, fantastic atmosphere and food was off the scale! Will be back again soon!

I couldn’t fault the service from staff at the restaurant especially considering everything going on. Social distancing was in place and staff members couldn’t have been anymore helpful. The food was delicious and served perfectly. I used a groupon voucher but it would definitely be worth the full price!

I have a groupon booking with this restaurant due to lockdown they won’t honour it. They have said just get in touch with groupon it’s not our problem.

We have been here a few times for Sunday lunch and it is delicious and a lovely atmosphere. Staff are very attentive, friendly and always checking if there is anything else they can do for you. Michaela the manager is lovely too. Would highly recommend for lunch and dinner. I’ve booked my next lunch after lockdown

Quite simply one of the best roasts in a restaurant I’ve had in years! Nice and friendly greeting to start with the now normal COVID19 checks, which we are all getting used to! Good priced Sunday lunch at £17 for 2 courses! Roast beef was simply lovely with a good mix of 5 vegetables, good roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding! We opted for Sticky Toffee Pudding, simply gorgeous! Good sized portions and great quality food and prize and a nice atmosphere with friendly staff! Look forward to returning! Thank you!

Went to church for evening meal yesterday. Had a lovely vegan menu lots of choice. Had to Pre order vegan option. Food and service were good , however disappointed that the wine list had vegan and vegetarian wine options but none by the glass only by bottle. Also no non diary milk options for coffee .Some feedback would be if have a nice vegan menu would be great to offer vegan wine and coffee too .

Sunday lunch. Waited an hour before food order taken, even though sat right in front of where the staff were. The food came, roast beef looked like it was cooked well, however was ridiculously tough, so tough it was really hard to cut and not nice to eat. Desserts were very cheap/low quality. Won't return.

Had been waiting for a special occasion to visit The Church as had heard good reviews and recommendations. The staff, service and and venue exceeded expectation, but the food was slightly under par. As we wanted the Vegan menu and had to pre-order a few days in advance, which was not a problem. Starter was lovely, but main was pepper and avocado quesadilla. When main was served I was advised that avocado was not available as was under ripe!!! So I ordered my main meal 5-days in advance and avocado still not ripe . Can you imagine ordering a steak and that not being available. On the way home we picked up a nice ripe avocado from Tesco....

After the weeks of restrictions and lockdown, shielding our very vulnerable daughter, we thought we deserved a 'treat' for a dinner out.We chose The Church because we hadn't been there before and often thought of it as a little bit' up market' for our eating.How wrong we were !!! The decor and ambiance were first class and to top of that, the food was DELICIOUSThe steak was done exactly as we asked for it.Would definitely recommend the restaurant and we shall DEFINITELY be back.Thanks for treating us so well.

Meal with good food but large party of 20 refusing to wear masks when walking about, ignoring requests from very young staff when being asked to wear them - and then gathering in the bar which we were told had been closed for COVID precautions! When asking the 18 year old in charge (the manager was on holiday apparently), we were told the table of 20 eating and drinking was okay as it was a ‘business meeting’ of the owner of the restaurant! The police were called and arrived to investigate. I strongly recommend avoiding this establishment with such a cavalier approach to the coronavirus protection rules in an area of ‘medium’ risk according to the NHS app.

We visited the church as a group of 5 adults + baby for Sunday lunch celebrating a birthday. The food was really tasty and fresh and the service we received from the GM (didn’t catch her name unfortunately) was fantastic- nothing was too much trouble. Will be back for sure.

Can’t recommend The Church Restaurant enough! We dined for our birthday and every course was lovely! Starter, main and desert. The staff go above and beyond, even bringing out the desert with ‘happy birthday’ written on the slate. Will definitely be back.

I celebrated my 40th here with family and friends. The venue was cozy , chic and lovely. The Food was great .All my guests said they enjoyed their dinner. Michaela and her staff went out of their way to make sure EVERYONE was fine. Right From booking the venue, to coordinating on the day, to eating,up until we left, we were truly looked after. Nothing was too much to ask. I had a fantastic birthday dinner with family and friends, thanks to you. I will surely recommend this place and I will be back. My guests also told me to say "thank you" to the chef, Michaela and her team for the food and for looking after them. We will be back. I would give you 6 star if I could. Thank you once again.

Amazing Sunday Lunch. We had lovely food, beautiful decor & the staff are genuinely nice people. Couldn’t fault it here.

I've not been to The Church in many years, but I was glad to see that despite everything going on, it's still an amazing restaurant. The food was utterly delicious, the staff were very friendly, and the building is as beautiful as ever.The only de-merits that marked the experience down to 4/5 are that; despite serving staff needing to come within 2m of eaters, only one member of staff was wearing any form of face covering, and I feel like in the current circumstances, that should be addressed, and the burger I had, while absolutely delicious, was incredibly thick yet narrow, making it slightly hard to eat.Other than those two points, everything was absolutely perfect!

Lovely food, excellent service, nice atmosphere- highly recommend. And still whilst in September on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday doing the “eat out to help out” deal!!

We went in to celebrate a birthday, had two courses each and the atmosphere was amazing. Food is hot and fresh with a host that constantly checks to make sure we're okay. It's worth it.

Went here for a quiet date night with my other half, first time we had both been and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent despite there being only one person front of house and the food was amazing - probably the best chicken dish I have ever had in a restaurant (chicken pithivier). The atmosphere was very nice, background music wasn’t too loud and it was very clean and tidy. It’s a beautiful old converted church with lovely beams and windows to look at too -Well worth a visit

Myself and my partner visited for the 1st time on Sunday and we were not disappointed. The venue is stunning and the staff are second to none. We both had 2 courses and the presentation of the food was beautiful. We chose the roast beef and the roast chicken and neither dish disappointed and we commented on the amount of meat we received, to top it off the Yorkshire pudding was lovely, we managed to finish the meal, nothing to spare! Will definitely visit again soon.

Booked for a group of 12 for a 21st birthday and loved! The staff are so lovely and willing to help - especially the manager who made it such a special day. Cool setting and indoor decor. Great range of food and fab vegan/veggie options!

Fantastic dining experience. Really well looked after by lovely staff. Group of 4 of us who had 2 courses each. Starters of Chicken Caesar Salad and Cheddar and Onion Tart were excellent. 4 Main courses of Roast Beef with all the trimmings were superb, roasties were awesome and the yorkies so tasty. Deserts of Choc Orange mousse and Fruit Crumble were delicious. Highly recommended

I was so looking forward to going for a meal with my friend here. We both practically starved ourselves all day in anticipation of enjoying a 2 course meal. Big mistake!!Firstly, the menu was a let down, it consisted of about half a dozen choices, 2 of which were a burger and fish and chips. There was no vegan option. Not the most adventurous choices for what looks like a very prestigious restaurant. We both settled for the fish cakes which actually were very nice. We then both ordered the chicken pithivier which sounded delicious going by the description. Unfortunately, it was vastly short of what it promised. The pastry was dry, there was barely a spoonful of chicken in it and no sign of gravy. The creamed mash was lumpy and the vegetables were not as stated. We both decided we were not paying over 14 pound for such poor quality. We asked to speak to the manageress who came out to ask if we wanted something else. As the menu was so limited in the first place we declined another main but the manageress suggested we just had another starter and dessert!!!! Conscious of the fact that it would be difficult to get in another restaurant at such short notice, we did have some more fishcakes. In the mean time we had to request more cutlery, and remind the waiter that a second glass of wine had been ordered. Eventually the drink came and we requested the bill. Once we had arrived home and checked the bill, we realised we had actually been charged for another glass of wine which we never had!!! All in all a very disappointing experience ☹

My husband and I had a vegan 3 course meal which was absolutely delicious. We did pre order it as not sure you could just walk in and get it. A really beautiful setting in a church. Would definitely go back, highly recommend.

We came for Sunday lunch today with family visiting. All had a 2 course meal, lots of happy, well fed tummy's to finish the weekend! The atmosphere was warming, cosy and relaxing. Food was hot, tasty and well presented. Roast beef was delicious and my almost 2 year old had a great time. Lovely venue will be definetly visiting again soon .
