Birchfield Fish Bar in Northampton

I had two pieces of cod at £8.50 each and a large chips £4.99. The fish had a rubbery texture and was so bland or tasteless, very disappointing. Chips were okay. Friday 8th November.

Always a good meal here. My new favourite chippy.

Speedy, efficient, friendly, delivery. Good food, well cocked and well packaged. Good prices.

I get embarrassed writing all these reviews as always amazing hot flavour full and fresh the fish and the batter is amazing and the chips I'm sure are not frozen they are huge different shapes and crispy and soft ! in our defense my cooker is broken and before that my hob went !

this is the only fish and chips shop we use . huge portions chips proper hand made fat chips not the frozen shop bought kind . I assume cut and prepared fresh as always perfect crispy and squishy !! fish always gorgeous it's always gorgeous

As ususl, Birchfield Road excels themselves. The lunchbox is a slightly smaller, more manageable option if your appetite isn't quite up to the larger meals.

Very expensive and chips was awful large under cooked greasy none of us ate them. Chicken kebab was nice but the doner wasn’t son wouldn’t eat the lamb meat and he would have kebab everyday given the chance. Thought it would be nice due to reviews but was very disappointed. I ordered a salad and pitta got a lot of salad but you do pay for it (a lot) sorry won’t be coming back wasn’t worth the money

The fish was not cod as in flakes that you usually get, but it was mashed with a lot of black in it. Chips were undercooked. So will never order from there again. Total waste of money.

Amazing food as usual! porition sizes are very good, piece of advice for anyone when you order chips a small portion from here is massive and can easily be shared between 2 people and still be full, not to mention the chips are thicc! 5/5! love it!

Food exceptional as always but today was the fastest delivery I've ever had I placed the order at 18:45 food was here at 18:55 I was absolutely shocked with how quickly it arrived

Excellent food and service, the only bugbear is just eat say that birchfield do a " stamp card " service which in fact they don't, so another porky from just eat, shame considering on how dear fish n chips are nowadays.

Delicious food, wonderful staff who all provided such an amazing customer service with a family friendly atmosphere. They did their due diligence to make sure their ingredients didn't contain eggs due to an egg allergy. Also cooked everything fresh and food tasted amazingly delicious. Thank you for such great service.

That delivery driver had wings on his feet. I had chicken kebab this time. Big potion. Piled on piles. Wrapped up well to keep it warm. You know you are going to get it right from Birchfield. Kebab not as good as fish. Will try a burger next time.

We had this on bank holiday Monday afternoon and it was terrible. Had heard good things but every dish wasnt enjoyable, even the chips. Donner meat was dry and tasteless, fish was just crispy batter.. and I can’t comment on the curry’s sauce, wouldn’t know how to describe that one! We were one of the first deliveries so May be we had the leftovers from the night before which were warmed?? Won’t be having it again that’s for sure

I had a burger here last Saturday evening.It gave me stomach cramps followed by diarrhoea.I won't be having another one that's for sure.

because we use here regularly I don't always leave reviews for each time but I just want to say yet again !!! the food is amazing hot fresh and tasty .. their chips are esp gorgeous .. thick and chunky fresh not french fries or like the frozen standard chips many use . we regularly stay in a diff address but I always use them no matter where we are staying ! I'd pay more for delivery if I had to .. my advice as everyone's tastes are different.. try them make your own decision.. it is worth it x

Was going to order from here but after seeing this I think I will give it a miss, only 1 star rating because anyone who doesn't take food safety and hygeine seriously of the public and paying customers should be named and shamed!

Not from the area but chose to eat from here due to good review. Right choice. We placed a very large order in shop and they cooked it fresh for us quickly, food was fantastic and portions were very generous. Wonderful staff who were very friendly. Thank you and highly recommended.

Food is lovely, just gutted tonight as I ordered from just eat and they forgot my curry sauce! The only reason I order from there is because I love their curry sauce 😞 Edit. Twice now they have forgotten my curry sauce. I'll take my business elsewhere from now on.

Chips were unfortunately overcooked, in fact some were burnt. Fish was soggy and tasteless. Sadly the last time I’ll be using them, the quality is too inconsistent.

Food was good and reasonably hot but at 10 minutes outside the estimated time the app had not updated. I clicked the What’s Happening button which advised to call the restaurant. I did and spoke to a very pleasant young lady who told me my order should arrive very shortly, which it did. I wasn’t too bothered about it being late but the fact that the app never updated was unfortunate.

I’ve never had a bad experience. Food is always hot on delivery, and portion sizes are very good value. Definitely my go to chippy

Big fish. When they say large it is BIG. Chips where more like potato nuggets rather than the long sort but just as good. And a special mention to the delivery lady with was a happy ray of sunshine on a cold wet dark night

Amazing service and food from Birchfield. One of our savs exploded in the fryer and the guys went the extra mile and really kindly added two Jumbo sausages to our order to make up for it. The lady who delivered the food was super lovely too. Really great and much appreciated, thanks!

Not the best I have had from them. Must be the middle of the week staff. Cod was superb. Cod roe was a bit "iffy". Chips where not Tom Kerridge's triple cooked but there was plenty of them. Delivery driver was a bit dumb but all he has to do is deliver.

No problem at all. Couldn't taste the salt and vinegar but it was good food and what we wanted. Chips don't normally travel well but these were fine. Would order again

Birchfield Fish Bar has some of the nicest chips in Northampton. The cod is generous too. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Delivery was late, which wouldn’t be a problem but there was no communication regarding this until I requested an update from Just Eat. When the food did arrive it was like warm and not as good quality as previous ordered
