Whitehills in Northampton

Food was lovely and very filling. Good portion sizes and although it was a quiet night, the atmosphere was pleasant. Kym was fantastic, she shared her knowledge on the menu and the various entertainment the pub provides. Fantastic serve all round.

Whitehills is a charming and inviting pub with so much potential to shine as a favorite local spot. Many of us enjoy coming here, and it’s a place we’d love to return to more often. However, there are areas that need attention and improvement to truly make it the welcoming and enjoyable experience it has the potential to be. The pub would greatly benefit from stronger leadership and care. Currently, the team seems to be operating without clear direction or support, leading to an environment where customers may feel overlooked. For example, glasses are always piled up at the bar, and. numerous tables remain uncleared, which can create the impression that the pub is overly busy when, in reality, it’s simply untidy. Addressing this would significantly improve the atmosphere, making it more inviting for patrons to relax and enjoy their time. The food, while consistently tasty, can be a hit-or-miss experience when it comes to timing. Some orders arrive promptly, while others take an unexpectedly long time. Streamlining this process would ensure a more positive and predictable dining experience for everyone. The staff are generally polite and well-meaning, which is a credit to them. However, they would benefit from training and guidance to help them feel confident and empowered in their roles, it may even clean the patron areas A stronger leadership presence could help foster teamwork, encourage proactive customer service, and create a more efficient operation. It’s clear that they have potential, but they need the right support from Greene King to thrive. Whitehills has so much going for it, and with a bit of structure, leadership, and investment in its team, it could easily become a gem of the area. It’s a place we all want to see succeed, and with some thoughtful changes, it could become a much more desirable place, until then, we all seek another venue we want to go to. I wish had a some photos of the place to add here, but they are easily available as it is consistently the same on a daily basis.

We attended for breakfast with santas , table of 8 including 4 children. We could not fault the experience at all , food was amazing and the kids enjoyed the experience so much! Amazing team and event

Being here as a group tonight and the food was awful. Had turkey with all the trimmings and every thing on the plate tasted gone off didn't eat anything from the main... the desert however was nice.

Went after my wife’s grandads funeral. Food was very mediocre, steaks were over done and didn’t smell very appealing. Won’t be going back

We were a church group filling 4 tables. We had ordered in advance. The food we had was varied but all looked good and mine was delicious as ever. And such good value for money. We meet once a month so I have tried out lots of dishes. We do a lot of talking but Kym, our waitress this evening, was very patient as she figured out who had ordered what and got us all sorted. Other staff were equally pleasant and helpful. We look forward to our Dine and Divine evenings. The venue, the food, the staff all good. And easy parking!

The staff were welcoming and friendly our reserved table was easy to find! Some of us placed orders at the bar some of us placed orders on the app. All in all a very delightful delicious experience.

We have been here so many times over the years as we are locals, I visited for the first time in a while a couple of weeks ago, and it's the first time since the new owners took over and it was a much nicer experience! Food was great, service was quick and friendly and had a nice atmosphere!

Had good wheelchair access, although it could do with a bell on the door to alert the pub that a disabled customers wants to come inside. But on this occasion a trusty postie held open the doors for me which was very helpful. Inside, the staff were polite and helpful. The bar person carried our drinks over to the table for us. Which was much appreciated. The food was basic pub grub, but freshly cooked and hot. My mum enjoyed her fish and chips, and I had a beyond meat burger and chips which was really nice. We even treated ourselves to some apple pie for dessert, and it was nice to actually have a vegan option on the menu. Would definitely return. Thank you for an enjoyable meal.

Last week was the first time I came and the food was amazing Kym served myself mum and my daughter very polite and helpful. Kym came back to check that we were happy with the food and even asked my daughter. I was so impressed that I booked for Xmas dinner for the end of November. We went back yesterday and I had the gammon it was cooked perfectly served by Kym as always very polite and helpful. Thank you .

one lady trying to serve all the customers at the bar.Bloke who was supposed to be assisting spent all time outside of bar. Customers walking out on a Thursday cannot imagine what its like at the weekends. Hour wait on food, although was good when arrived.

I have never been dissapointed eating here the menu is great value lunch and dinners and rhe food is cooked perfectly the steak dinners are amazing and my steak always cooked perfectly I have no complaints here and go hear often for what you pay the quality of food is excellent and it has a great selection the drinks slightly on the more expensive side however with the food been so reasonable I cannot complain compliments to the chef

No staff behind bar again just 1 person doing all the work constant queue if they got more staff then people may stay for a drink instead of walking straight out

Good stop for a quick meal and nice atmosphere

Really disappointing trip… the table we had booked was filthy, and I had to clean it myself with the waiting staffs spray and cloth. The food was average, and the waitress squeezed on the plates rather than clear our dirty glasses which remained on the table until we left. The pub was nearly empty which should have been a sign so poor service was not down to dealing with lots of patrons. The staff refused my blue light discount stating it wasn’t valid on a bank holiday ( not what is stated on my app ) and despite me voicing my feedback on the meal was completely disinterested. We left without our table being cleared from our drinks on arrival whilst the waiting staff stood about chatting to each other. Wouldn’t go back to eat here, there is no management and the staff are unmotivated and surly. Such a shame as this was a family favourite previously.

ALL of the bar-staff/chef/waitress(Kym) and the assistant Manager were so, accommodating and went above and beyond there normal duties to manage 11 of my family members who'd been let down at the last moment by a lesser P/House?? And turned up around 8.15pm wanting to order food???? We were all taken aback by how great the food was! All of which came out at the same time! And how we were all treated amazingly. WE WILL BE BACK!!! Many thanks to all who were working 22/08/2024!

13 of us turned up unannounced assuming food was served all night, to be told by the manager that the chef was due to be finishing work shortly and for that reason he would not be able to accommodate us. However, explaining that we had all come out to celebrate my mother's birthday and we had been let down by the place we had originally booked, the manager went away and came back to say that he had managed to talk his chef into staying and promptly set up the tables for us. The bar staff and waitress were all very attentive and we did not have to wait too long for our food to arrive and despite there being 13 of us, the food was all served more or less at the same time. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, which I would like to say , were very reasonably priced. So thankyou to the bar staff, waitress and manager and of course the chef who we did not see, for providing us all with a lovely evening with great food and service. Will definitely be returning

We came in for a quick lunch on a Saturday. Service was second to none by a lovely lad on the bar, and friendly attentive floor staff. Hunters chicken was delicious and the cheese and bacon burger . Seems like a lovely team and a wonderful environment.

We was a party of three and ordered food and we waited for our food for 30-35 minutes before that we noticed a couple arriving after we did and they actually received there food before we did. I was OK with that, as our food arrived eventually and my partner and his mum had gammon and l had rump steak. The gammons were nice and chips etc was nice and hot, however, my steak was nearly raw and the blood juices were soaking into my luke warm chips and my portion of 3 peas (individual) and my sauce (which l didn't get to pour over my steak) as not cooked properly. I then mentioned this to a member of staff and he then said that he would get another replacement of food. I received my food after 20 minutes..my partner and his mum had finished their food and l the received my steak which was cooked how it should have been, as well as hot chips No new pot of black pepper sauce, oh but l got a portion of peas this time. So dissapointed as l was hungry and looking forward to it and it spoilt our nice meal out together. It seemed as if the person who cooked it forgot about my meal and rushed cooking it, was incomplete and undercooked.

Really slow service I’ve been waiting for about 1hour and 30 min for my food which is all day breakfast

Waited over 50 mins for our food. We didn’t get told at the till of the waiting time. Why is the food served on 2 1/2 plates? Makes it incredibly hard to eat. It’s unnecessary and awkward. The staff didn’t come back to ask how are food was. Wasn’t impressed at all.

I hadn't been to the White hills for many years, nothing had changed still good service but the food had got 100% better. I will differently go again

We went as three at the opening time, waited outside 11am and went in. Customer service is soo poor that the lady didn’t ask where you want to sit. Nothing m. Didn’t give any menu. We went and seated by ourself and then decided what to eat. When we went to order she said the kitchen is closed and will open after 20 min.then the time should be changed in google to 11:30. It states 11as opening time then kitchen should be ready by then. She should have told us before letting us in , if it was a wait we would not have gone in. She was very rude and I would give zero to customer service . Such a shame that we had such experience. We are human we do understand the situations , if communicated well. Won’t go in again , thank you very much for the pleasant afternoon experience.

The treatment we received on our visit from Emily was second to none. Attentive, caring, efficient proper old school hospitality from such a young person Green king has a diamond 💎 in Emily.

New menu is so delicious and we really enjoyed the atmosphere inside.

The atmosphere was ok. A few roadmen around but not too many. Maybe 1 too few TVs for the best sports viewing. The food was very good indeed. Not record breaking but worth every penny you pay. Would recommend.

What a shame , Always loved coming here but today was a mistake. Bogof on burgers so i ordered mine and asked for another the same to take home for my daughter. When mine was bought over i mentioned to the lady ( who really needs to smile) will my other one be put in a box for me , she looked like i hadn't asked for another one to take away, but she went and sorted it out for me. So when i come to leave, the lady said its just the burger isnt it, i said it was ordered as the same as mine including fries. Burger, bacon , cheese .. NO SALAD , NO SAUCE. Took the food home and my daughter has opened the box, salad all over it and mayonnaise on the burger . Not impressed.. it can't be that difficult to make 2 burgers the same .. can it ?

If you're looking for a vibrant spot to unwind, this pub certainly ticks all the right boxes. The atmosphere buzzes with energy, making it an excellent choice for those who don't mind a bit of noise while they sip their drinks.. lots of improvement since new General Manager.

Ran out of morreti, no San Miguel toilets like they have been jet washed all time low !! Expected better on a Friday night. Unfortunate.

Lovely place to go for good food at good prices.

Stopped off for lunch on our way to our hotel. I had the vegetarian mushroom onion garlic and cheese tart and my husband had the fish and chips With some chicken wings on the side. The food was hot and tasty. I especially enjoyed the vegetarian option. The only negative was the feral children whos mothers were lacking control, of their children. (Shame some customers can't be vetted before entry 🤔😜)

Great food served hot! Vegetarian mushroom garlic and onion tart was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. Shame about the feral kids and their equally feral parents who had obviously lost control 😕

Staff friendly and helpful. Seating area was clean and tidy. Food was tasty and at a great affordable price. Portions could be a little more generous. Literally a handful of chips and the smallest dish of coleslaw as a side. But other than that, we really enjoyed our meal and our evening with you. Keep up the good work! ⭐️

Took my Son for meal out. We had a really lovely meal. We ordered from the app from our table, meals came fast, but the drinks were forgotten so he had to go up and show them we had ordered drinks too. It's a really nice pub, friendly staff too and good food.

Warmly welcomed. Such tasty food. Reasonable prices. On a visit today we again had an excellent tasty meal, thank you. Please don't change your menu! We were not asked whether we needed mustard or horseradish with our steaks, and l already have to bring my own mint sauce. Also we did have to wait 30 minutes for dessert. Hence the lower rating for service. We did however have a friendly enquiry about our food.

Visited the whitehills this after noon with my family and I overwhelmed how much this place had improved from a couple months ago. I later found out from the young chap (manger) it is had new management come in and he was part of it. I’m pleased to say it was nice to see such a friendly face working in such a lovely pub. Will defiantly be back especially for bogof burgers. Well done team whitehills

This restaurant seems to be the victim of cost cutting by some faceless regional manager - no spare ribs, no ice cream sundaes, peas with everything, no mushrooms (whats that about?). Staff were good but the place was only half full on Valentines night! I wont be back there again - used to be a good steak restaurant with generous portions of comfort food. Wasnt expecting gourmet food but still left disappointed

Was a bit bussy as it was quiz night but enjoyed my meal and very friendly place my partner payed for meal

Fairly regular visitor but today's offering was particularly poor. Indifferent staff, no cask beer, no fish for dinner, no hot drinks and a longer than normal wait for food. When it did arrive it was luke warm and just about edible. Tables weren't cleared after eating. Might be good value for money but we won't be returning.

Myself and my husband met 2 friends there for a meal. Drinks way too expensive for the venue. The food came out at different times? 2 of us had nearly finished by the time the others food came out? I had wings with bbq sauce. It was just deep fried chicken wings with a sqirt of bbq sauce out of a bottle? No effort at all. Needs a new decent chef. And I mean chef who knows how to cook. Not just order from brakers etc and microwave or deep fry.

Christmas Dinner, our 5th year at Whitehills. this was very disappointing 😞. we were sat way too close to another party, people and staff bumping my chair every few minutes. we asked to move to an empty table and was refused. there was a table the same size dressed ready to be used, we were there from 12 till 3 and no one sat there? the food was nice for most of our party however we needed to ask for bread for the starter, when it arrived we had eaten the rest. we needed the cheese pot warming as it was hard. the Xmas puddings had to go back because there were cold. the fourth course never did arrive and we asked for it. we couldn't wait any longer because my husband works for NHS and was starting work at 3.30. the staff were very pleasant at all times, but the organisation was a disaster. we spent a lot of money today for a table of 8 and feel let down. we won't return next year.

Good atmosphere, table service was ok but bar service was lacking personality. Food was the worst I've known it. Normally ok for simple, pie and chips fish and chips etc. This time I had a special, big challenge meal which was steak with camembert with other sides. The steak was tough, and the chips were lukewarm, like they were just reheated from frozen. It didn't taste fresh, making the meal disappointing, the best part was the camembert, which to me is simple to get right. They need to cook the food better and take more pride.

Took 50 mins for food to arrive when it did it was cold, brioche bun was so hard I couldn't bite into it and the burger was burnt Staff were rude service was poor no apology, I asked for no ice and was told 'well we don't have any anyway' won't be going there again. Politeness and hospitality goes a long way.

As we walked in, the two ladies behind the bar looked at us as if we were from some other planet. The "What the hell are they doing here?" facial expression. We asked for a table for two. They said the kitchen was closed. It was half past seven on Friday night. We are not royalty and do not require special attention, but we do require basic hospitality.

Yet again kitchen closed . Staff terrible what has happened to our local . When have eaten hear it is awful not cooked properly . Won't be returning until new management

Very overrated in my opinion if it wasn't for the 2 skittle teams there would have been about 3 people in there and the drinks must be the most expensive in town
