Great buffet, friendly staff and good food!

First time being there. Staff very attentive. Food delicious. Certainly get your money's worth.

Nowhere near as good as it use to be. Limited food compared to previous visits yet as expected price has gone up. I appreciate food prices have escalated. But, if prices increase to keep same excellent choices they once had would understand it. It does seem more like a school dinner hall than somewhere of choice. I personally would not visit again......

Love this restraunt but not many vegetarian options other than just vegetables. No tofu or tempeh dishes... and most the vegetables arr in oyster sauce... makes it hard for vegetarians to eat.

This place is a shambles! Looks huge but inside it’s not that big and there isn’t a lot of choices for food! They add cheap English food to a Chinese buffet it’s very odd! Staff are rude and not a pleasant place to sit and eat very loud as it’s all opened

Amazing place if you are craving for Chinese cuisine and eat all you can. Reasonable price with authentic foodie from starter to main courses until dessert, plenty of choices.

Service is good. Average atmosphere. But that I had a disappointment that turned everything around. As for the food, it seems there is no instant cooking or sushi section. Don't be fooled by the pictures. I visited because the reviews were good, but I was very disappointed. There are few varieties and even a lot of similar menus. I like buffet restaurants, so I visit them once when I'm in the countryside, but I'm so disappointed.

The food is always bang on here it's a shame there isn't one closer to us us in Tamworth but nonetheless food there is the best buffet I've been to . And at a good price

Amazing food, very good vegetarian options. Very clean, and the food is constantly topped up. Great staff, very friendly. It can be very noisy due to the size of the building but worth it. Watch out for the parking. It's free, but not many spaces, and it has a time limit.

Amazing Food Good Place to Stuff your face

Best Buffet in Nottingham by far!! Trust me, try it. So many dishes to choose from and plenty of options catered for, incuding seafood, yummy!. You can also have something cooked by the chef too. A very clean place especially for such a large capacity restaurant. We travelled from Birmingham and no regrets. Food brilliant, atmosphere brilliant and I think it was the owner Simon W, a lovely man and stopped to talk. All staff were very attentive and not pushy. Prices were well reasonable compared to others as well. Will definitely be visiting again.

The old lady who takes the payments is very rude and should be left at home watching TV, not dealing with the public in your business she is a liability and behaves just like a Karen, she kept standing over me while I was eating my food and I mean literally right next to me almost shoulder to shoulder it feels very inappropriate and intimidating, could even be classed as assault as it did cause me harassment alarm and distress.

We were regulars before Covid, but sadly Covid forced them to close, we thought possibly it would be permanent. But delighted to find they are open again, and that the food, service and decor all as splendid as they were before Covid!

Really nice buffet with varieties to choose from, plus the food is actually tasty. Service is great and ambience is okay. I really wish there was take out though 😀, great experience generally.

Best buffet in Northampton. The Sushi is pretty good but the Chinese is the best. Loads on offer and constantly refreshed, never an empty dish. Book online or call to reserve a table as it is always busy. Parking is a bit of an issue but you can always park in Weston favell and walk over.

Great place to enjoy and different dishes. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who says I don't like that before there'd even tried it.

We had a family meeting today at Mandarin. For 7 people. When i have booked online it didn’t give me the option for kids. So we had 2 kids with us. The man at the entrance started to shout that I should have booked for 9. He was very rude. Ruined the whole evening.

Great venue and very clean. Food was delicious but slightly overpriced. Candy floss machine was turned off before we left so the kids left upset The drinks over 30 minutes to arrive to our table whish is appalling considering you have to wait in a queue for 5-10minutes to place your drinks order. The choice of food and how nice it was made up for the bad service.

After a day of shopping in Weston Favell, what else is there to do than sit back and relax in everyone’s favourite buffet restaurant, the Mandarin Buffet. The quality of the food is amazing, the staff and on top of everything and the restaurant itself is gorgeous. I happily waited in the cue at 2:00 sharp , only to be served in about 5 minutes! The staff were officiant and friendly. Ready to serve and escort me and my father to our seats, asked for our choice of drink (a water and a coke) and we were up and ready to eat. I escoecially loved how the food was warm enough, not too cold but not too hot. I had four plates of food and my father three. The food was absolutely exceptionally delicious. The staff would take our plates in seconds and were so polite and kind when doing so. The cotton candy quality was excellent and the rest of the desserts were very scrumptious. Will I be coming again? Certainly. Did I have a good time? Laughter and smiles were shared not only with me and my father, but the staff aswell, so yes. Do I recommend? There is no place I recommend more. If there is one company I want to give my money too, it’s here. Thank you to all the members of staff for being so amazing,kind, generous and having exceptional hospitality towards my family.

I booked online and made a mistake as booked for next week and not today. They were very good and gave us a table anyway. Lovely food really enjoyed it and my kids loved the candy floss maker

Excellent range of food and very busy even for a Monday early evening. Ample food being topped up regularly. They did however run out of bowls for soup!!!

It was a joke. We booked a table, we had to wait in a queue outside the door in the rain. They didn't want to let us in. They explained that they check every customer's reservation.We were completely wet from the rain. They didn't apologize to us for that. Food was limited, lots of vegetables. Hard meat, desserts bought in cheap stores and decorated with fruit.The waiters are not polite, the entire service is focused on money. They treat people like a piggy bank, they just eat, pay and leave. When we paid the bill, the waitress came over, took the cash and left. She didn't ask if we liked it. She didn't say goodbye or thank you. She only informed us that the table had such he paid with the number and leaves. So we can clean up and bring in the next ones.We paid £43, which is a lot for such poor food. It has gotten much worse. We were there 6 years ago, it was still nice, but now it is a disaster. This is not a test restaurant, but a food hall. They should respect people more. I do not recommend it and we will never go there again.

Clean and tidy. The strong scent of freshly cooked Chinese food draws you into their Mandarin Buffet. Not tried yet but passed their restaurant a number of times by Westone bridge when you get the gorgeous scent of Chinese food.

Is this even Chinese cuisine? On the Mandarin Buffet website it states they serve “fine buffet dining” I can even see why they put “fine buffet dining“ in quotation marks on there own website themselves. What kind of 'fine buffet dining' with its cuisine type of Chinese serves chicken nuggets, yorkshire puddings and other cheap frozen non-Chinese foods in what is supposed to be a Chinese restaurant? If people wanted to eat chicken nuggets and wanted to degrade themselves with terrible food like this they would go to a Mc Donalds, this is a total insult to the Chinese cuisine and if I served Chicken Nuggetts, Yorkshire puddings and other non-Chinese frozen cheap foods in a restaurant I would be pretty embarrased, total joke and embarrasment.

We booked this mandarin for valentines night and it should have been £19.99 pp but whilst we waited at the door at 16.55 ( opening time is 17.00 ) they taped an A4 message to the door saying prices would be increased to £21.99. They charge £21.99 for Fri/sat/sun nights and bank holidays and festive season. Valentines night is not part of the “ Festive “ season. The food wasn’t much good either with very dry spare ribs, reconstituted aromatic duck and mushy prawns. Pints of beer at £6 or £7 don’t help either. Shame on them for taking advantage of what is already a very busy night for them

An establishment based on Greed! This is not a restaurant, it is about eating whatever you can in your allotted time. You have 1:45 minutes, but in our case, we booked for 17:00 and we had to queue for around 20 minutes, then we had to queue to get food and yet at 18:45 we were told that we needed to leave. Our friends who we invited had sneaked off to pay and as a result, the owners felt that they had nothing to lose by interrupting our meal and asking us to leave. Needless to say, we will never be returning, which is a relief to me, as the sparkling water is £6.60, so if you do visit.......ask for tap water!

I booked the table in January 2024 for the 14th of February 2024 for 17,00pm. The website stated that the cost per person would be £20.00. However, we were left standing in the cold and had to queue for 20 minutes, Why queue when you have booked. We were shown to our table and was told that a member of staff will come and take our drinks order which took her 5 minutes, which wasn’t a problem, but resulted in a problem towards the end. A waitress came to our table as we were eating and told us that she had been informed that our time limit was ready to expire. I told her that we entered the premises at 17.20 waited for another member of staff to take our drinks order and to provide us with our drinks, so I guess this might have taken 10 minutes in total we lost 30 minutes. Please take note we also had to queue at the buffet. We had visited the Mandarin on previous occasions and the buffet which was once amazing with so much to choose from was slowly deteriorating. A lot of the Chinese dishes have been replaced for 'English' food (chips, nuggets, onion rings, Yorkshire puddings, sausage rolls and so much more fried cheap frozen foods, The desserts have also lessened. We also found that some of the dishes wasn't prepared very well, the mussels were dry the egg fried rice was plain boiled rice with bits of dried yolk thrown in and the sushi bar was empty. Basically, the Mandarin restaurant is eat quickly pay and get the hell out of here, your clientele is no longer needed. And to our surprise without any update to my email they had increased the price to £21.99 and they had the audacity to ask me if I would like to give them a tip. PS SPARKLING WATER £6.50 A BOTTLE

Good place for £22 per person for all u can eat. The food is good overall, the cakes can be more "juicy" - too dry to eat them. A big bottle of still water is £6 -make sure you say TAP Water.

We visited at 2 30pm. The selection of food was amazing and I loved the fact you could have food cooked fresh in front of you. So much choice (we have no allergies) we particularly enjoyed the lamb and duck dishes. The atmosphere could be updated a little with a better choice of music but staff where friendly and efficient. Highly recommend for any age group.

When we arrived, the staff started to pack away the food and clear up. We booked a table online and no where did it say that the kitchen would be closing and the food would be packed away. We had one tiny plate of starters each, rushing to finish our food. They wanted to charge us for an "all you can eat" buffet when they started packing all the food away as soon as we arrived. Then the manager offered to make the chef cook us more food as if we would want to eat while all the staff are cleaning around us. We could smell disinfectant and cleaning products, and staff were mopping the floors. This is not what a buffet should be. All the manager did was make excuses and try to justify everything. We will not be returning.

Nice good, good service, but it's designed to get people in and out as it's very popular. Not a very relaxed meal, we stayed for about 30 mins.

I visited the restaurant on the 14th January 2024 with my children. After two and a half hours was told I may have exceeded my parking period. Even though we left immediately after paying for our meals, I still got issued with a parking fine saying ‘no valid parking reason’

Very nice food with different varieties. Buffet service with so many choices. Clean and spacious restaurant. However due to the busy nature of the place, parking space is limited.

I visited the Mandarin on Thursday 18th January at 5pm. It opened promptly, which was great because the temperature had dropped and outside it was bitter. We entered and were put in seats directly under the air con, we asked if the heating could be put on and we were told that the area would warm up soon, it didn't, we kept our coats on, in fact, most diners had their coats on. The food was also cold due to the cold air blowing out. This has made the experience quite a negative one and due to this, we won't be returning.

Have been a customer of Mandarin for many years. Didn't have to book and was able to turn up and be seated - 3 of us. There is still a varied food selection of meat, fish and vegetarian options. Although the quality and flavour is somewhat lacking compared to over the years. A lot of the food was very sweet in taste - and not because that is what the recipe is! The duck for the duck and pancakes is no longer fresh duck that is shredded, it appears to be something out a bag and warmed up and lacks flavour. Staff certainly are busy and are appear keen to deliver a good service when it comes to clearing your used plates etc. They will stop to speak to customers even though they are busy. The price no longer reflects the quality. We paid: 2 Adults - £39.98 2 Cokes - £6.80 (about half pint glass) Fruit Shoot - £2.70 - some shops you can buy 12 for 69p equivalent. Time to look for another buffet!

Best place to dine in Northampton 😩

Yesterday evening, we went to the restaurant and the security at the entrance allowed a big gang of people to enter in without even standing the long queue. When people questioned security told one of the gang was in the front of the queue but it was not the truth. At that time people with tiny babies were even in the freezing slow moving queue. Really unfair treatment. We had reserved already and most of the people in the queue was reserved. Evethough we reserved, people were in the queue, some were allowed to enter without standing in the queue. This is not acceptable. Secondly, l have noticed many of the plates in the restaurant were not cleaned properly and has food waste has sticked dry to the plates which is really disgusting. You may be cleaning, l am not saying you are not. But also, there were dried food waste. Thirdly, price of the buffet is extremely high when compared to the taste of food and the quality of service. Overall experience is not at all good.

I have used this buffet often but at a time when food inflation had decreased they have increased the price by £2 or 11.12% Not justified.

Terrible food, terrible service, no atmosphere, a restaurant in a large hall like a military canteen, not worth a penny. Never again. I don't understand why there are so many good opinions, unless you take into account that you can carry the food in a wheelbarrow. Great.

This was really good at the beginning but has become more expensive and no longer presents value for money. Deserts are not very good for the most part, and overall food is average and not the quality or tatste of other local restaurants or takeaways selling this type of food. It seems everyone gets packed into one side, and the nicer area is mostly vacant.the birthday song playing multiple times in a session is annoying as well.

It's an all you can eat, I would say definitely quantity over quality. Big place, more on offer than they advertise which is a bonus. Drinks are ok. Service isn't exactly with a smile but efficient.

Service was very swift, you can see it run in a productive manner to utilise table space and turn over maximum volume of customers. The Atmosphere was energetic and joyfully busy and jolly. The door staff are very strict with entry and re-entry which is slightly off putting. The choice of food was good and a nice choice and variety, we found that the food was very salty and we found that early hours of the next morning we were waking up to have to drink water. The Parking limit of 2 hours is not really adequate and a factor to possibly choose another venue for a party as who wants to be rushed. I would return again so on balance it was good.

Worst meal. Payed £65 for cold food and when we said we was disappointed and that the cold was cold his reply was “no it’s good” it’s not good enough. It was a surprise meal and it was the worst meal I’ve had in a long time. For £65 I would want the food hot, less chewy and good customer service. The staff are constantly starring at you and making u feel uncomfortable. Just a really bad restaurant to how it was a few years ago. I highly doubt going back and I actually recommend to others to try other places with better food and customer service with from the staff. Would have at least like a sorry for the company with a bit of a refund as all 3 of us was very disappointed in having cold food. But they just ignored us and walked away. Disgusting behaviour from a restaurant that was none for hot lovely food with lovely staff members a few years ago.

Excellent place for food. Unlimited food so all you can eat. This was my 3rd visiting and all 3 have been great. Atmosphere is great but couldn't give full stars as it's so loud in there with the amount of people in there and music on. Apart from that it's great in there. Food is a variety of things not just Chinese food. Recommend going in day time more then evenings and evenings seems busier.

Very expensive for the quality of food, everything tasted over cooked and dry. The only nice thing to eat was the sushi & the bar where you select the fresh food and they cook it in front of you, but be prepared to wait in a que, it can take at least 30mins before you can actually sit and eat it.

What should have been a lovely dining experience resulted in management shouting in front of a restaurant full of people wasn't my idea of a great Friday night! My friend had booked for the two of us to enjoy the buffet style  Asian food experience in the Mandarin at Weston Favell early evening on Friday 1st December. All you can eat is an experience to be enjoyed but unfortunately the food wasn't satisfactory. The food wasn't even luke warm so as you can imagine that is coming out hopefully hot then being left open not covered. I have previously eaten at all you can eat or buffet style restaurants before and never experienced this. We mentioned it to one of the waitresses who said she would speak to someone. After having cold starters and cold small main course I thought I would go for some dessert as that should be ok.  I had a slice of one of the many gateau's and it was so dry it had a crust on it so I didn't eat it. We then a spoke to the same waitress again and asked to speak to a manager. The man I can't call him a gentleman who came over to us was very matter of a fact and said that's what the food is like and that you can get more if it's cold. If you're sick then you're sick!! This is not the answer myself and my friend expected. No apologies or anything but he actually started shouting at us until my friend asked to speak to someone higher. A lady came over and said you have had a problem with your food and we explained what the man had said. She said the problem is it's cold outside and that's why the food is cold! I said so if I go over to Domino's now and buy a pizza it's going to be served cold as it's cold outside? The the man came over and started shouting at the woman something in Chinese and te started shouting at us. The woman said she would check the temperature and came back to say it was adequate. My friend said that she wasn't prepared to pay for the meal and the man said you go I'll pay for you but continued to shout at us. I'm wondering whether he would have done this if we were two burly 6 foot gentlemen having the same problem. To top it all the lady said you'll need to pay now. My friend stated you don't understand we're not happy so we won't be paying and we got up and walked towards the door. The man then css as me towards me again to say don't f-----g pay then and don't come back here again! Here's to say we definitely won't be! Whats happened to good old customer service? We didn't want to walk away with bacteria as a free gift! Hence an email has been sent to food hygiene to protect the rest of Northamptonshire!

Chinese buffet. The product is not perfect, but it is still good. British and American deserts are always the same. This one is pretty good, don’t be too pushy, OK!

we had a lovely time , the staff were great our needs were attended to at all times , the food was tasty well cooked and fiil;ed us up , the abieance was amenable being a self serve buffet you come across a verying mix of humanity but i felt safe due to the beautifull bouncer outside , he could have strangled people with his dreadlocks , the deserts were also amazing and kept at the right temperature ,,,i carry a probe as cream can be a bit iffy if warm , it was on the whole a good night out .

Perfect restaurant for a Saturday evening. Full culture, the number of people inside adapted to the room. Delicious food, everyone will find something for themselves. Pre-Christmas atmosphere with relaxing music.

A great place where you can choose exactly what you like to eat, lovely things for children too. The service is excellent, they are very attentive to your needs all the time. It is an amazing place and week with a visit!

In the ordering process I added a special request for a birthday, to which this request was not followed through with.

I've been going to Mandarin Buffet since it first opened and it used to be excellent. Great value for money, wide variety of food choices, friendly staff. Sadly over the years it has lost a lot of what made it so good. Our most recent visit was for Father's Day, and it had been about 2 years since our last visit. Firstly you now need to book to guarantee getting a table which was OK for us but we saw people being turned away or made to queue outside. Secondly the food choices are nowhere near as good as they used to be. A lot of the Chinese dishes have been replaced for 'english' food (chips, nuggets, onion rings, Yorkshire puddings, etc). We also found on this visit that food runs out very quickly, but the staff were quite slow to refill. Also off putting seeing fresh food just tipped on top of food that has been sat there a while and none of the containers were swapped over for clean ones. Definitely some hygiene issues there. We also found that the food just wasn't prepared very well. Lots of things were overcooked and tasteless, definitely not the standard it used to be. I doubt we'll be making a return visit as it's gone continuously downhill over the last few years, which is a shame for a restaurant we'd previously loved. ***Edit*** Mandarin have replied to my review and stated that they don't serve Yorkshire Puddings yet photos I have added show otherwise.
