The Quays Fayre & Square in Northampton

We meet with family here quite often, they do a fabulous carvery at a reasonable price, and don’t mind if we sit and have a drink or two afterwards, sometimes 2 hours! The staff are always friendly, lovely decking outside on a warm day if you want to sit out and have a drink, also they have the Greene King app so you can order at your table. You don’t have to have carvery, they have an extensive menu, plus kids menu and desserts. Would highly recommend.

Myself and my 2 lads went for a 1 night camping trip to billing aquadome. We saw this pub on the way in saying carvery. So we turned up at 5pm. Greeted by very friendly staff, who showed us where to sit. Ordered at the bar for 3 carveries and it cost just under 18 quid with drinks. (2 kids eat free with 1 adult). School hols. The carvery was one of the best, fresh juicy meats and great veg and dripping roast pots with massive yorkies. The kids said it was there best ever carvery, and I agree. All staff were great also. We ate here twice as the food is very fairly priced (2 kids eat free per paying adult), and delicious. Firstly we had a carvery and it was lovely. We had homemade Yorkshire’s the size of our plate! We then returned a few days later for a meal off the main menu. The staff are fantastic and the pub is spacious. There’s a lovely sitting area overlooking the river. We stayed at billing aquadrome holiday park and chose to eat here because it was cheaper and the food was much better! Would definitely visit again :)

Shoutout to Mia, the amazing hostess/ waitress for her incredible hospitality while I was staying here for a week. A ray of sunshine and truly makes everyone's day!! The food was also delightful - I ate at the carvery twice and couldn't get enough. Thanks for a lovely experience.

Totally unaware of parking charges in a car park outside pub shocked to receive parking charge notice :( not a great experience at all

This is the second time we have met friends here - the staff are amazing and so friendly - the food was not as nice as first time we came but still nice and fair priced - would I recommend and eat here again yes I would !

A quick visit to the Quays lead to us returning for a 2nd time less than an hour later, we were served by Wendy at the bar, having asked for a water bowl for the dog I was already preparing to be leaving the bar juggling a dog, a drink and a water bowl between two hands. I was really taken back when that wasn’t the case, it was extremely kind to have been given a helping hand, from this I was able to confidently ask several questions ranging from expectations of dog owners, to how the carvery works and take-away orders. The service didn’t just stop with Wendy, every team member upheld that level of service from the beginning to the end. What an amazing team you have at this location

arrived late as we had informed them after a tiring 7 hour journey. No one on reception. my husband had to walk to the pub part to find a member of staff. No apology given. Then we found we were on the first floor with no lift. I have a disability and this was very difficult for me. Nothing on website to say 2 floor and no lift. Breakfast saturday morning was pre cooked and left on the hot trays but was COLD. didn't bother on Sunday as could not face another cold cooked breakfast. On Monday it was cooked to order and what a difference. It was lovely. There is no 24 hour reception. If you have a problem during the night you are told to phone a mobile number. Good job I was with hubby as I do not use mobiles. Complained to head office over a week ago and still no proper reply to my complains. Would I stay again. NEVER

Wow. I stayed in the hotel at a great price and ate in the restaurant. It’s mid week and not that busy but I paid a lot more on Sunday for a far worse meal. You can’t knock this place for what you pay it is fantastic.

What a find this place is! Lovely, warm and friendly vibe when I walked from the hotel into the pub / carvery next door for dinner. Not being local to the area, I was amazed by the number of families and groups of friends all sat eating and chatting. Perfect friendly atmosphere for an English pub / dining establishment. All staff were fantastic, however Kaz was an absolute superstar. She noticed that I was eating solo and came over to see how I was a couple of times. A true professional with a heart of gold - thank you for making my night. Will happily recommend this place to others. Well done to the teams

I don't normally do reviews as everyone has different expectations, however I called in today with my daughter and was greeted by such friendly staff (bar,guy on the carvery and our two waitresses 😊 We had only called in for a snack and as the carvery looked so fresh we plumped for a small one each and OMG it was delicious and excellent value for money. We shall be back. You deserve praise when you treat customers so well 👏👏👏

All staff are amazing. Food is amazing, my best was the steak and chicken cheese fondue. Definitely worth a try. I was staying here whilst on business and the hotel is nice clean and comfortable. I couldn’t fault this please. Well done to all of the team. Will definitely be returning.

Bank Holiday Weekend away.Had to come back to Premier Inn so my wife and I could have breakfast at the Quays.So glad to say we were looked after by Kaz for our 4 days there.Sorry Kaz didn't recognise you on Monday morning out of your usual black uniform,ha ha.As usual cant praise Kaz enough for her exemplary service,she is definitely the queen of customer satisfaction.Breakfast was absolutely delicious,got to mention (Kaz told us) kitchen manager Jordan was responsible for cooking and dishing out...he was also very friendly.Both you guys worked so hard to keep your very busy restaurant running smoothly.Kaz,we will be back to see you in September....THANK YOU

Can't wait for Quays to open again. Safe,friendly helpful staff always willing to go the extra mile. Help with seating and following Greene King App. Food always hot and delicious. Smothered steak cooked to perfection. Perfelt piece of meat served with delicious sauce. Followed by mini mania dessert just perfect. Quiz night Tuesday always good fun. Visited Sunday just as lunch was about to start.Hadnt booked as wasn't sure about all the changes.The lovely Scottish lady Kaz was dealing with an awkward customer at the front door,asked us to wait a minute and she would see what she could do to find a table as there were a lot of bookings.True to her word she walked and talked us through new system smiling and reassuring us that we would have a lovely experience,and she was correct! Great carvery,good service and thankfully to be looked after by Kaz.Well done The Quays,we felt very safe.

Had a wonderful family meal 3 generations, including desserts. Food was hot and tasty staff were polite and attentive. Clean and comfortable. Nice variety of menu choices. Especially Bombay Bird Burger and carvery. We were served by Lucy on the bar who ended up bringing us our food as well - seemed like she was doing a bit of everything, all with a smile on her face. Visited Monday lunchtime for a group get together with friends after my wife and I had previously eaten at this establishment.So delighted to see the lovely waitress Kaz again.She served all our group at the bar alongside her other Scottish colleague.What a challenge we all were I'm sure! Mixure of good food including carvery.Kaz made a point of making sure we were all happy and even came back to clear our plates,smiling and chatting as she went.We all intend to come back on a regular basis just to see Kaz! Well done to this wonderful Quays lady for looking after all of us oldies.

Popped in for a off the cuff midweek dinner!The food was good for the price paid ! The Halloween themed burger was huge!! Kids meals also a healthy portion for the price!Service was simple but pleasant ! No airs or graces but did what its says on the tin!

My friend and I . Went for Sunday lunch as a treat .. we live on the marina so it's close to home and we do go to the quays for mid week lunch . All our meals have been absolutely great till yesterday . My god the meat was lovely beef. But the stuffing was terrible looked like it was swimming in oil apparently it was butter .well did you use the whole tub.. I normally like the stuffing there was not yesterday its was sitting on top . The carrots were sitting in butter too and the cabbage and leek had a sauce (heart attack waiting to happen) . I couldn't eat it although the cabbage and leek was tasty. The stuffing and carrots were greasy... I had to search for salt and pepper as ours was empty 3 tables all the same... Empty.. and why do some of the staff wear jeans .I can understand management but not floor staff one girl had jeans and t shirt . Come on get them all the same . And maybe give them aprons so the uniform keeps clean as some staff uniform are dirty . And it's not a good look . If I want someone to serve me in jeans I'd go to a roadside service but even some of those the staff wear uniforms . Was not impressed with yesterday dinner .Amy helped a man in a wheelchair with his dinner she got all that he wanted and carried it to his table bless her other members of staff ignored him .. sometimes it doesn't hurt to see if someone wants help.. not impressed.. come on the quays you can do better than that.

Popped into a local Greene King for a spot of lunch. First thing to note that the Greene King chain are pretty poor when it comes to a gluten free menu. Not only is there a lack of accomodation for my wifes condition on the main menu, but it appears that even the carvery is far from trouble free. Apparently the roast potatoes and parsnips get thrown in the general purpose fryer making them a total no go. There was a sign saying all gravey now contains gluten alternatives available. You do however have to wait for you dinner to go cold before the cold gluten free gravey arrives. We have also noted a gluten and nuts disclaimer in small print on the back of the menu which, to paraphrase, says we cannot be arsed with your food intolerance because we are a sloppy arsed bunch in the kitchen just pushing volume not care and quality. This really tells in the food quality. It really was not a great meal. Today the tables were only slightly sticky and I will be wiping my feet on the way out to relieve myself of all the vegetables and detritus that have been decorating the floor around my table. What peeves me the most, my wife being the Coeliac, is that I have had to pay more for the carvery being the weekend and receiving 2 fag paper slices of meat.

Was served by a lady called Jenny o today what a lady thank you so much , me and my husband came in with a friend of his who he has not seen in a long time . They are navy friends and you fitted in lovely, thank you again for serving us and getting the man there beer . They could do with more people serving like you breathe of fresh air xxx

Took my son here to let him run off some steam in the play area and then get some food. When his order was not quite right this lovely Scottish lady was so accommodating and interacting with him he had such a great time this is the only place he wants to go now.Thank you very much Kaz for making a little boy so happy.

All the staff make an effort to be friendly. The food is good. A big enough place so that getting a good table either by the lake or inside, is never a problem.

Carvery not good. Veg either overcooked or burnt but not very warm either. Yorkshire pudding cold, dry and rock hard. Meat acceptable. Kitchen "forgot" the bowl of chips. Ladies loo filthy with broken soap dispenser.

I was visiting the quays last week with my family for a Carvery as that’s what we fancied. Let me tell you now, this was by far the WORST Carvery we have ever had at the quays, and not the usual lady chef who we always got chatting to.

Hello my lovely staff at The Quays! I have at long last gotten on here to post my reveiw! My sharing platter was amazing, presentation 10/10 the chef does a brilliant job in the kitchen as it's a thankless task (believe me I know as I was once a chef) so well done you! As always Kaz & Jen were on duty being as smiley & pleasant as they ALWAYS are the place wouldn't be the same if they weren't there! I absolutely adore all of you, I'm a regular there and the staff are ALWAYS pleasant and pleased to help if there is ever a problem. It's also refreshing to see that we, at last have a Genuine, kind manager, Matt who will go out of his way to see that we as customers are happy, you are a breath of fresh air. I have noticed that there have been lots of improvements made in the short time Matt has been there which is nice! Also I would like to add that the staff are ran off their feet every single day and work long hours so PLEASE People have a little empathy for these hard working staff who try their best to accommodate so you certainly should appreciate more instead of nit picking. Not once have I ever had a problem so the staff and the New manager will ALWAYS have my 100% back up everytime because they don't have to "smile" at everyone all day everyday, I'm sure you'd LOVE to put a middle finger up at some point but NO ....all you do is please and smile.... Frankly I don't know how you do it!!! I love you all.

Popped in with a friend for a lunch time catch up. Ordered 2 lunch bites sandwiches and a portion of chips between us. The sandwiches came quickly but were only cooked on 1 side. The side salad was a tablespoon of lettuce! We had to remind the waiter we ordered chips. He brought them straight to us. Wasn't impressed at paying £1.50 for 15 semi warm dry chips between us. Waiter did come back to see if all was ok. We told him it wasn't and said why. He replied he would tell the chef!!!!! Unimpressed at paying £20 (incl drinks) for a substandard meal.

Visited here while visiting Silverstone. The service was terrible, waited almost 30 mins to just order food followed by a further hour wait for food. Then had a further wait while they brought the rest of our order that they missed and waited AGAIN for cutlery! Food was average at best - burger was served with no salad - just a bun - I would have been better getting the kids meal. Clearly more staff are needed as staff seemed busy but level of service was still poor. Wouldn’t eat or stay here again.

I ordered the veggie burger without the mayo and it was awful, it was cold, hard and dry in a dry bun, this was served with mango sauce and a leaf of lettuce, there was such a tiny spread of sauce I couldn't taste it, I had to steal some of my daughters salad to make it edible. It came with fries but there were only about twelve on the plate.I should have sent it back but after waiting almost 40 minutes I really didnt want to sit there any longer. I would definitely not visit again!
