A fantastic night with friends enjoying the cocktail masterclass with Jerome a great bartender and entertainer. Jerome knows his stuff, easily explaining what to mix and how, with a little bit of science too. We gratefully accepted the cocktails he made so effortlessly and then had a go at making our own, Jerome’s teaching style made this fun and easy and overcame any of our nerves with encouragement and humour. Thanks for helping us have a great night out 5⭐️

Probably the best steak pie meal I've had - pies and sides are phenomenal, service superb, beautiful building. Not quite five stars as at dessert stage we were disappointed, rosemary wasn't detectable in the apple and rosemary crumble, and the cheeseboard was just supermarket cheddar/brie/stilton straight from the fridge - for a county with such brilliant local cheeses that was a let-down. But you won't need a pudding, stick with the phenomenal pies and sides (be sure to try the mushy peas) and you'll be well fed and happy.

Good choice of reasonably priced food. Service by bar staff who took order for food and drinks and by Ali who delivered our food was excellent.

We initially found the pub while looking for somewhere to stay in our van. Very reasonable rates. The booking was last minute but this was no problem. A quiet rural spot with hard standing pitches in the winter months. Facilities were clean and close to the camp area. The pub was warm and cosy with a wide range of food choices which were reasonably priced. Matt was particularly friendly and helpful and was one of the reasons we decided to turn one night into three. A great location for walking and brilliant to return to for a cosy night out. We will definitely be back!

We have eaten here before but have only ever sat outside for drinks/snacks. On this occasion we sat indoors for a full cooked meal at lunchtime. The internal decor was pleasant and the ambiance excellent. Despite being almost full there was a very quiet and refined atmosphere. The menu was varied, interesting and most mains were around £15. Everything we had was delicious and well cooked. The shepherds pie was exceptionally good - the best I’ve ever had. Our only criticism would be the rather too ’al dente’ veg. The service was exemplary and we will definitely return.
