Milk & Honey Deli in Derby

Second visit to this lovely small cafe and deli in the heart of Derby. Only a small range of a menu, which is positive as the dishes are all very nice, mainly sandwich, panini, salad and cakes as well as breakfast. Very delicious coffee. Very nice selection of cheese, quiche, pate and olives too.

We booked a table at the Market Place food court and were looking for food. We messaged late on Friday evening to see if they could do an egg free version of their picnic for Saturday lunch. It was short notice but they came up trumps and produced an absolutely fab meal for us. We will be back.

Had the tastiest sourdough toasted with two perfectly poached eggs and stacks of smoked salmon slices. Absolutely perfect. Good customer service, lovely browsing and gifts (bought some as well) and loved the vintage tea cups, perfect.

Reassuring socially distanced tables, sanitiser points and track and trace. Calm and peaceful environment with the food produced today in excellent presentation. Staff wearing masks which detracted from the usual good waiter/ customer relationship.

Situated on Sadlergate with limited seating outside on the street, or well socially distanced inside. Covid precautions were exemplary.We visited for lunch with a good range of Salads, Panini's, and Bagels, all accompanied with fresh salad on offer. Our food was delicious with really inventive flavour combinations. The deli counter has plenty of tempting treats too.Service was very friendly and helpful, but somewhat slower than we would have hoped, even allowing for all food being freshly prepared. Prices are very good considering the food quality.

Milk & Honey is my go to place for coffee, cake & bagels. Always a lovely welcoming feel & the staff are very attentive & helpful.Great value for the quality too. The best coffee around, simply wouldn't go anywhere else. A must visit for a trip to Sadler gate.

Had a lovely light lunch here, food excellent, a steady flow of local customers (always a good sign). A very calm atmosphere and friendly staff. Nice range of stuff they were selling as well.

Decent cup of coffee, friendly service, the cake let the side down a wee bit, each time I poked my fork in it exploded into tiny bits but overall would go again

You always get a warm and friendly greeting from the staff here and the sharing board for two is great value for a spot of lunch.

This is a Cafe where you can also purchase a vast array of cheeses & deli foods. The Cafe is nice & clean with friendly staff. There is a good choice of home made Cakes & the Coffee is nice too.

My young grandson and I were on our way to the museum hoping to find somewhere en route for a snack and came across the Milk & Honey. Initially, as it is called a "deli", I was unsure as to whether it was also a café but found this at the back of the shop. The staff were friendly, the choice vast and they even made a small sandwich for my grandson. The sandwiches and cakes we had were delicious as was the pot of tea. When in Derby I will return.

This a deli and café, and brilliant at both. We stopped for tea and cakes - I had the biggest Viennese Whirl I have ever seen! Really good coffee and tea too. The menu for lunches looked superb, would be worth returning

The staff are friendly and knowledgable, toilet clean and some gifts available in the shop section. Cake always worth a buy!

Have been here a few times and you can’t get better, fresher food anywhere like this. The staff are friendly and professional. Always lots of choice and the specials board has lots of options. Thank you

I was told about this place from friends so thought I would try it out. Just wanted refreshments so decieded on tea and scones. The tea came in a pot with a defuser of real tealeaves. Was a really delicious cuppa. The scones were a little disappointing, not freshly made but ok. Friendly staff. Pleasent atmoshpher. Will certainly visit again.

I was waiting for 15 minutes to get some service to the table and wanted a cooked breakfast and when the finally got to my table they said that yes you got time even though they came back and said they had stopped doing breakfast!!So it very annoying so I just had a coffee ☕️

Because the seating area is at the back of the shop area - this does not always appear as it ought to. Lovely welcome and environment, friendly service and good food served. Love it!

I really enjoyed my visit to Milk and Honey in Derby. I had a latte and a filled panini which were both promptly served piping hot. Sure to return soon!

Lovely place for a respite stop from Christmas shopping, calm and restful with so many yummy cakes to choose from with excellent service from the staff.

Enjoyed a light breakfast with great coffee. The lady who served us was really welcoming and friendly. I really recommend this cafe.

Lovely ham sandwich with a good size side salad and yummy coleslaw. The freshly cooked ham was beautifully cooked and tasted delicious. The bread used to make the sandwich was very soft/fresh and tasted like good quality bread.

My partner and I are difficult! He’s a vegetarian and I’m gluten intolerant. No problem here. Wonderful gluten free quiche and vegetarian tart with freshly prepared salads. The coffee is the best I have had in a long long time and partner got three cups of tea from his pot so he was pleased. The service was wonderful and I could have spent a fortune in the deli. I didn’t want to leave.

Visited Milk & Honey twice recently, once with my Son in the Summer holidays and then more recently as a family. Food is made to order and is worth waiting for whilst it’s prepared, it really is excellent quality. The staff are super friendly and welcoming and the service is very good too. It’s nice to feel like a valued customer each time we’ve visited. The staff really are accommodating to fussy eaters and non simple food orders. They have a good selection of food & drinks on the menu, so it’s easy to find something to suit all tastes. The only negative comment is that on the most recent visit a hot chocolate was ordered and unfortunately what was served tasted more like hot milk, it had no flavour and barely any colour to it. My partner didn’t want to make a fuss as it was quite late on in the day and the staff were clearly still quite busy, I’m sure they would’ve rectified it if we’d asked. We’ll definitely visit again in the future.

The team had one person off sick and another member of staff had been sent to A&E; - so the pressure was on during a very busy day as it was Uni open day in Derby. They were so lovely and food was amazing - thank you - great customer service under stressful conditions.

Really enjoyed our visit. The Flavour in the Coffee and the Teas are spectacular. Be great if we could buy some of the Coffee served in the Coffee shop to take home. That way i can enjoy it even more before i visit Derby and visit Milk and Honey again.

Looking for an afternoon coffee, found Milk& Honey on the sunny side of Sadlergate. Sat outside in the sun, friendly service, free newspaper, an excellent Americano coffee and a delicious Eccles cake. Super value for money.

Having visited Derby with a friend, we called at this lovely little deli as it look so inviting. After going in we discovered they had a cafe and as the lady was so welcoming over a chat about the huge variety of cheese, we decided to eat there. So much amazing food we were stuck for choice so in the end opted for a sharing platter. Yum! Meats, cheeses, olives, balsamic onions, fresh local bread and much more. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back. Lovely deli, knowledgeable and welcoming staff, wonderful food and a fab location.

What a hidden treasure to find on Sadlergate in Derby. The shop and restaurant are lovely with choices that leave you drooling! Fresh homemade food in the cafe and a feel good service to go with it. I have been going into Milk and Honey every week since I found it last year and spread the word with my friends. A well deserved shortlisted for the best cafe in Derby awards! Well done Team Milk and Honey!!!

We came into derby to visit another restaurant but they were not serving food until 4pm so we walked up the road and saw this place for lunch.

Light, airy, welcoming premises. Warm, friendly, staff. Huge portions of soup etc for lunch. Very good value.

Dropped by for a quick lunch, great central location, perfect for people watching in the sunshine. Nice menu options and coffee is great.

We called here today for lunch. There were 9 other diners in the restaurant. My daughter asked what the soup of the day was and also the quiche. She was told and then asked to sit down and we would be served. After 15 minutes of being ignored we walked out. If it takes that long to even acknowledge someone’s presence, there’s not much hope on the food! We didn’t even get asked if we’d like a drink which would have made us stay.

We visited Milk and Honey on the 19th June 2018 around 12pm after seeing it advertised online. We went to sit inside and looked at the menu which looked very nice , i went to the counter to ask what flavour the quiche and soup was and was greeted by quite a rude worker , before i even got chance to ask he told me to sit back down and that he would come over. I sat back down with my mum and waited for around 15-20 minutes and nobody came over not to even get a drinks order. So we decided to leave and went over to the Kitchen opposite and got served within 2 minutes of sitting down and food was around a 10 minute wait. We had a lovely stone baked pizza and panini.

This is a very small place but there is nothing small about the quality or quantity of the food on offer. Virtually everything is home-made and of excellent quality - and reasonably priced too. The welcome is friendly and sincere and, as well as eating in the establishment, you can buy the same food to take home as well. We will definitely go again.

This is a deceptively small facility- but with delicious tasty food, great staff, and a most pleasant surrounding.

What a little gem! Walked past this deli so many times, finally decided to go in for some lunch with the family. So reasonably priced and the staff are all lovely. Food is delicious! Definitely recommend stopping by.

It is always nice to be met with a smile and a warm and friendly greeting and the staff here deliver that. Called in for a coffee and cake and I hit the jackpot with the lemon drizzle cake it was probably one of the best tasting that I have ever had, it was fabulous.

I had walked past this little gem many times until in need of supplies for homemade pizza. I got great advice and some really great produce from people who are passionate about what they do and are fabulous in themselves.

What a lovely, delicious little find, perfect for a bite to eat, coffee and a sit down before or after shopping!

Marvellous coffee, fabulous homemade food and a fantastic selection of the finest delicacies to buy from the deli. What more can I say about this lovely little shop in the centre of the city. Don't miss it if you are a resident of the city or simply visiting.

Deli has Great Cheese selection and smoked Stilton is to die for. We visited early morning and had scrambled eggs on artisan toast and excellent coffee. Only criticism- not enough tables. But maybe small is beautiful.

This is a Deli, however you can have food, cake or sandwiches and other stuff. If you like china tea cups this is the place for you . We were looking for a place to have afternoon tea and the place was recommended by a local inhabitant.

This sits on Sadler Gate and there is a lot of competition from other cafes but this has a definite advantage - the deli counter. What a great range of cheeses and tempting foods. The café has a definite rustic feel but is a lovely tranquil place to sit and eat/drink.

My wife and I really enjoyed a relaxed lunch of sandwiches and salad,freshly prepared,generous portions washed down with a very nice cup of tea,definitely a place we will return.

Really nice casual atmosphere - a bit of everything - coffees & teas, cold drinks, light lunches, snacks, homemade cakes and meringues - what's not to like .. plus food was completely fresh, nicely presented and tasted really good. Not the quickest turnaround, but it's a relaxing kind of place.

We called in for lunch midweek, they offer really tasty light lunches and beautiful cakes. The service was wonderful, it's just a shame there aren't more tables really, but only as it would be a disappointment not to be able to eat there if full.

Visited today for the first time and wasn't disappointed. We had delicious cappuccinos and Florentines. Lots of delicious cakes on offer and the lunch menu was excellent value for money , we will definitely be back for lunch next time

Met some friends for coffee, and it was so nice,, also had some lovely gifts for sale, so bought some plus food from the Deli

A went here when we couldn't get into a couple of the other cafes on Saddlergate , when we were looking for a light lunch. A quirky little cafe at the back of the deli. The staff were very friendly and helpful . We had the Thai sweet potato soup which was beautiful and Brie and beetroot oatcakes . The homemade salad dressing was also very good . The owner even told us how to make both the soup and the dressing ! Will definitely call in again

Just a quick visit for coffee and cake last week. We tried the Rocky Road and Caramel cake. Both were delicious. Our lattes were perfect too - hot, milky and not bitter. We would come again if in the area.

Ate lunch here last week and it was fab. Had the hummus with artisan bread. Came with a salad and a bowl of enormous olives. Everything was gorgeous. Lovely salad with dressing. Olives de-stoned which you don't often get. Had a cappachino to follow and that was nice and hot and tasty. Will definitely visit here again when next in Derby.

Whilst being in an area of derby that isn't short of cafė's, this place really stands out for its abundance of locally sourced products e.g. cheese, honey. As well as being somewhere you can sit and have a coffee while catching up with friends, you can also buy a whole range of deli treats and ice cream.

I really love the decor in here and it sells really lovely bits and pieces but the coffee really isn't great. Cappuccino was foamed way too much and I couldn't taste the coffee itself. I would definitely come in again but skip the coffee.

Really lovely looking deli on Sadler Gate selling speciality cheeses etc with a coffee shop to the rear.

Found this little deli/cafe purely by chance, just wanted a light lunch and it was perfect. Menu is on a blackboard and easy to see, all the food was fresh, staff were very welcoming and friendly. Best toasted sandwiches we've had for a long time. Salad was more than just a garnish. If we are ever in Derby again I would head straight back here.

We were in search of a relaxing coffee and light lunch. The relaxed atmosphere and deli surrounding made a good first impression and a little bit of music helped too. All 3 of us had latte coffee and they were good, and the gingerbread latte was a treat, albeit a little cooler than I would have normally expected. We ordered two panini and the cheese on toast. There was clearly a small problem during our visit as it took quite some time for the coffee to arrive, and ages for the food (and it wasn't busy). Some notification of the potential delay would have been welcome as sitting close to the food preparation area means that customers can notice when all it not well. The panini was pretty good and the side salad fresh. I was really looking forward to the cheese on toast but it was soggy, burnt/over cooked and certainly not a 'door stop' bread thickness - but using Red Leicester cheese was good and the onion chutney was great. The staff realised that we were not happy and certainly recovered the situation better than we expected so we'll certainly try Milk and Honey another time as overall it's got potential to be a small, quaint and relaxing place to grab a bite to eat and a good coffee.

What a lovely Deli/Cafe, if you want to spoil yourself this is the place to go. Pies/cakes/chocolates etc so much to choose from. At the back of the shop is the cafe were you can enjoy a drink and bite to eat.
