🦀 Timbale of White Crab & Smoked Salmon 🐖 Black Pudding & Smoked Bacon Stack 🥧 Homemade Steak & Ale Pie 🍔 Locally Sourced Venison Burger Their food is described as Traditional Pub Food on their website, but The George does traditional with a twist. Take the starters for example. The Black Pudding & Bacon Stack is a dish you won’t find anywhere else locally (tell us if you've seen it elsewhere). The same goes for the Crab and Salmon. They're two completely different starters, but both eased us in tastefully at The George. We’d recommend both of these dishes. On to the mains and you'd think Pie & Mash and a Burger & Chips would be boring. You’d be wrong. The pie was delightful. The pastry was light and had a crisp to it that helped encase a rich and flavourful filling. The mash, and we’ll quote is ‘the best mash we’ve tried so far’. You can’t say much better than that, can you? Even down to the gravy, the attention and care were there to taste. Now, the burger. Wow. We’ve never had a venison burger and don't usually go for a burger that hasn't been smashed. But, the curiosity of having a burger with pears in it pricked our ears up. Does it work? Weirdly, yes. The richness of the meat and the sweetness of the pears and cranberry is a hit and you've got to try it to believe it. We’re also a big fan of the chips too. They're a strange shape (not cuboid like normal chips) but they're hella tasty. Overall, we were very impressed with the food on offer. With The George being a 5-minute drive east of Lincoln, we urge you to give them a visit. Great food and good atmosphere at a very reasonable price. 📍 The George at Langworth 🍽️ Traditional Pub Food 🗺️ Free On-Site Parking 🗓️ Mon-Tue Closed, Wed-Thu 17:00-21:00 Fri-Sat 17:00-22:00 Sun 12:00-17:00 💰 £60 (2 courses & 2 drinks each) #foodreview #langworth #lincolnshire #reviewsmatter

Myself and my family attended The George for my fiancés birthday meal. We have been many times and we all love it! However this time was quite disappointing. It took the waiting staff 20 minutes to come and take our order. We were 1 hour and 15 minutes after arriving before getting our main courses. We had 3 steak and ale pies on the table. All were extremely over cooked with 1 being burnt. They were dry and barely any filling. The gravy was a great consistency but had far too much ale in it. Another person had seafood skewers and they said their fish was over cooked too. Another person had lasagne and they said there’s was over cooked too. This is not The George standard that we are used to. When speaking to a member of staff at the end of the evening, the said to make the member of staff aware when they do the table check and this could be resolved, however after reflection nobody did come to do a table check so this was not possible. Staff did their job but weren’t exactly welcoming and joyous. This has put us off coming to The George again which is disappointing as we have had many great experiences there before.

AWFUL PLACE . We walked out . When we walked in we were greeted with a woman who barked at us HAVE YOU BOOKED ?? Which we hadn’t as we were on holiday so didn’t no we had to . She then said if we sat in the bar she would serve us . We sat in the bar and she gave us menus and we were shocked at the expensive prices and not that of a great choice . We all agreed we were not impressed with this place so we walked out . It didn’t smell great either .

We were given a warm welcome for our Sunday lunch. The roast dinner was tasty, well presented and well cooked. Portion size rather too generous - I couldn’t finish it but it was still delicious. My friend had the chocolate torte and said it was perfect. I found the tiramisu too sweet and solid. Tiramisu should be light, fluffy and creamy (marscapone please and not double cream) and more creamy and coffee-y than sugary. This may be a matter of taste rather than presentation and cooking though; the food was of a high standard. I ate the cake soaked on coffee and masala, which was good, but left the creamy bits. Comfortable environment and friendly, professional service.

You were recommended by another local pub as when we passed you were closed. First through the door at 5pm we were made very welcome, with a clear explanation of food being served at 530pm onwards. The pub is lovely and very welcoming, despite not booking and expecting to eat in the bar we were taken to the restaurant which was clearly fully booked. I had the yellow belly burger, Lincoln sausage and a beautiful thick tasty burger. My wife had hunters chicken. Both dishes were fantastic. Very tasty and served hot which is always something I want not tepid mass produced food. It was fabulous. The staff were very pleasant and attentive but not overbearing. This is a must try venue. Were hungry when returning from our friends in the Wolds who highly recommended the place, and we were not left disappointed. Our first but definitely not the last visit. Reasons to visit: 1) service with a smile (even through the mask); 2) fantastic quality food (great value for money); 3) dog friendly (in the bar, of course); 4) fantastic atmosphere with tables being 3-4m apart which gives you sense of normality (can have private conversation but also chat with a group on the table next to you); 5) good choice of drinks and very good prices; 6) the pub does not cut corner on food quality or presentation (they take pride in what is cooked and how); 7) they care about community and helped food delivery in the village during the lockdown; 8) home made (rather than simply home cooked) food; 9) locally sourced meat (Lincolnshire Red for both steaks and burgers) but also plenty of vegetarian options; 10) large car park with plenty of space; 11) they take C-19 regulations seriously. We popped in on Saturday lunch time at 13.45 (just 15 minutes before last food orders) and we're lucky because it seems at the moment the weekend is the only time when lunch is served. We had a lovely lightly dusted squid starter between the two of us (squid is prepared by the chef on the premises). For the main meal, we went for Hickory BBQ ribs - those were superb (and very generous portions). And the chips... those worth mentioning because those are very "light" and "fluffy" - feels like small clouds when you eat those. So good!We were the last to leave at 3pm and the chef came in for a little chat which was really nice. We learned quite a few things about the pub and complimented him on the pub. Both of us were slightly surprised to hear the chef thought their prices might be slightly higher than somewhere else. It is definitely not the case (and we have been to a few pubs) - it is definitely not the case if you take into consideration very reasonably priced drinks (which in many places in Lincoln went over the top recently). We will be popping in again (with our furry friend who also appreciated the atmosphere and helped us to finish our portion of ribs). On our wish list is the steak, or, alternatively, a few starters with a bowl of delicious chips (our own version of tapas). Definitely a gem (for hungry locals, travellers or the local community)!

1 star due to the absolutely appalling service from the staff there. I had to wait over an hour to be served, and then when I was eventually served the barmaid (With a blonde bob hair style) spoke to me in a way that no human being should be spoken to.

We decided to have a drive out to Lincoln for the day and ended up going through Langworth around lunch time. We saw the pub and decided to stop for lunch, it was n't quite opening time so we decided to look the George up on the internet. Trip Advisor has some reviews averaging 4 out 5, so when the Pub opened we went in, we were met by the bar staff who gave a warm welcome. We enquired as to did we need to book etc and then was shown to a table. The Waitress took our drinks order and bought over the menus, The restaurant is very clean and nicely set out plenty of space between the tables. It had obviously been through some renovation work and the pub looked very nice. We then ordered 2 Roast Beef Dinners, it wasn't long before the lunches were served. I have to tell you that it was one of the best Sunday dinners we have had in a long time, the cost was £8 per dinner and it was worth every penny. On the plate was a 3 thick slices of very tender beef, a large Yorkshire Pudding, Mash Potato, Roast Potatoes, the Vegetables came in a separate bowl all cooked to perfection. The gravy came in a large gravy boat more than enough for 2 people and very tasty too. If you are ever passing through Langworth I would highly recommend the George Inn as a place to eat.

Party of 12 booking at 1230. Selection of three starters, roast dinner main with choice of either beef, served nice and pink, pork, chicken or lamb. There was also a salmon pasta dish which looked nice. There was mixed veg served in big bowls comprising of broccoli, carrots, swede and lots of additional lovely gravy boats. We skipped starter and when our food came it was lovely. The childrens portions were a great size, the only real difference was one less roast potato (even the adults only got two) and a little less meat but they got the huge delicious yorkshire pudding. The adult meals were £8 but not sure of kids size as not priced on menu. For dessert we mainly opted for ice cream £4 for up to three scoops of a wide range of flavours and sorbets to but some had the poached pears and another had the choc brownie with ice cream (large portion). Overall a nice meal. Not much atmosphere inside but quiet so you could have a conversation. I think we will definately return for another family meal.

The two starters were excellent, almost surprisingly so. However, the three main courses were a real disappointment! Warning, they may advertise "fresh and local and homemade" etc. but the chips are frozen, thin, really hard and sharp, ours were inedible. The peas were clearly frozen, and the gammon was thin and char grilled with large burnt lines in the thin meat. In our opinion this ruined the meal. Chef: How hard is it to cook real chips? Especially with the quality potatoes in the fields surrounding you? It would make such a difference, it is just laziness. We left it all. I complained at the fact that we would have to go to another restaurant to eat a proper meal. They said "Sorry" - no offer of a refund or an explanation. The building and the atmosphere flatters to deceive. This is poor "cooking by numbers". The waitresses are, hardly suprisingly, young and not bothered/experienced. No training in customer care or quality, they had no idea what to do after asking "is everything OK?" We were there on Sunday 25th August 2013. Avoid and go to a pub/restaurant that does what it says in it's marketing on the web etc. Waste of £40 for three.

Visited the George as part of a party of approx 30 guests for a Christmas Lunch. Everything was pre-arranged with pre-orders placed for all our menu choices. Received a very abrupt welcome as we approached the entrance, told 'you wont get served until gone 1, I have a large party in at 12', this was just before 12 and we were obviously part of that large party. Unbeknown to us at the time, this lady was obviously the owner or duty manager! Very slow service and even though everything was pre-ordered was still very chaotic. I was one of the last to get served starters and the 'duty manager' only had prawn cocktails left over so insisted it was what I had ordered, which it wasn't and the lady next to me had ordered pate like myself. The overall attitude was appalling. I eventually got pate by changing with another person within the group and the lady next to me waited approx 10 mins while they brought her pate. The main course didnt get much better. The casserole which consisted of one piece of meat with a gravy and onion sauce over it was tough! Turkeys came out without stuffing, Salmons came out WITH stuffing?!?! We had one dish of vegetables and one dish of potatoes to go around the table of 13 people but on a positive note we had enough gravy to sink a ship! Plates were cleared before everyone had finished eating which made people feel embarressed. Sweets were the icing on the cake, cheesecakes were frozen so had to be sent back, xmas pudding we think had too long in the microwave as you really needed a knife and fork not a spoon, as were the mince pies, and those who ordered cheesecake had to then order one of the other sweets from the festive menu, and one requested apple pie with ice cream and finally received it after 2 attempts of serving apple pie and custard by the same member of staff! I felt the menu was pricey for what it offered compared to many other places but the overall service and attitude of the 'duty manager' and the chaos of service was dreadful, no offer was made to discount anyones meal for the mistakes and errors made by the pub, at the end of the day, everyone is human, some of these things could have been laughed off if we had been showed the right attitude. Certainly will not be going back here again. From experience, a larger party with pre-orders should be easier to handle that individual tables who hadnt pre-ordered so dread to think what it would be like then!

We went with a group of friends for lunch. The food was wholesome and plentiful, the service was great with a very pleasant team of young staff. The wine list covers all tastes and purses andtheer is a good selection of draft beers.

We had a great time out and enjoyed the food. The restaurant looks great but we had to wait quite a while for the food which was disappointing.

My family traveled over to meet us at the George for my husband birthday as a surprise get together. The food and service where outstanding. Both my sister and Father can be fussy with their food but they ate every bit. The staff had even arranged a birthday cake and all sang happy birthday which was a very nice gesture.I would recommend this pub to everybody, the food, atmosphere and staff are all excellent.

We've just got back from Late lunch/Early Dinner at this Pub.On the way back from a Sunday day out we were passing and I remembered reading a couple of years ago when it was reopened that the Chef had worked in some top restaurants so we thought we would stop, I think that the Chef was on his day off or he has left and someone else had taken over.!!??We were greeted by a nice friendly woman that showed us to a table we were brought our drinks staight away, so far so good. The place inside looks a bit like a very big upmarket coffee house at a motorway service station the choice of decor and furniture doesn't really make you feel you're in a country Pub.We ordered from the Sunday Lunch Menu, One Chicken Liver Pate to Share when it came it was a good sized slab of home made pate with a Salad garnish that tasted ok but the bread was just some Kingsmill type wholemeal sliced bread that had not been toasted it was not very fresh and cold, I would have liked a bit of chutney or pickle or something to go with the Pate as well. Then came my Roast Lamb which was cooked nicely still pink and tender with a big soft Yorkshire pud and crispy roast pots the gravy however did taste a bit like Bisto? My wife had baked haddock which was just a piece of fish that had been baked in the oven till it was dry with no seasoning and no butter and no anything, it came with a big blob of mash pots that where nice and soft but had no flavour the sauce that was supposed to be white wine cream was like someone had poured a glass of milk on the plate it was so thin and tasteless that someone may well have poured a glass of milk on the plate it had a garnish of chopped dried up curly Parsley on top.We got a bowl of veg on the side that for me were a bit overcooked but the local old folk that go there probably like it like that so I can see why they serve it like that.We didn't bother staying for dessert as my wife was put off by the standard of the Fish. The bill was £27 pound which was very good value had it all been up to scratch.Would I return? Probbably not unless someone else was paying!

This is a well appointed, recently refurbished pub. Great food - not the usual fare. Good access and no problem parking.

Had lunch there with my husband today and we both had the Wolds platter which was substantial and very tasty. Beautifully presented and using local cheeses and meats. Highly recommended and we will return to sample more of their varied menu in the near future.

One of the best restaurant meals I’ve had in many months. We went on impulse to celebrate my partner’s birthday yesterday evening, having had a very bad experience there in the past when it was owned by someone different. The food was superb and the service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended and we’ll most definitely be going again
