The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

We really enjoyed our two nights. Very well looked after and fed. The decor is in keeping with the house. Lots of original features and William Morris wallpaper.!

Having tried most of the eating places in the village this is our go to place in Castleton for lunch, with the Derbyshire oatcakes being our particular favourites. The welcome is second to none. Claire and Liz are both so friendly and however busy they are they always stop for a chat. The place is spotlessly clean and the food is fab with a good choice of regular items and a very tempting display of savouries and cakes. Highly recommended by us.

What a perfect stay, felt welcomed from the start, greeted by the “three musketeers!” Supper was excellent and almost certainly one of the best hotel breakfasts ever. Thank you so very much, we will be back. 😊

Such a cozy place, and the atmosphere was very warming. Very welcoming service, food was delicious. I had chicken in a mushroom sauce and it was lovely.

We visit most Sundays for breakfast & to buy meat & bits from the shop. Breakfast always good, the staff are very friendly & helpful. The meat pies & cakes are always fab.

We visited today, Friday lunchtime, and it was full which speaks volumes for the reputation of the restaurant and college. We ordered the carvery and Holly was brilliant carving the meat and Cameron who was our waiter looked out for us. The food was lovely, we really enjoyed our desserts of sticky toffee pudding & chocolate brownie, which were bought to us in good time. Would definitely recommend and we'll be back! Well done to all the students & staff who support them!

We were blown away by the quality of the food and the bar was well stocked and well run. But what I shall really take away from the day is the fantastic attentive servers. So polite in their immaculate uniforms , they made the day really special. I only wish other establishments paid as much attention to this fundamental aspect of hospitality. We will be back as soon as we can but I really hope the car parking situation gets sorted out soon.

Had Sunday lunch. Food was beautifully cooked, no frills just a good honest value for money lunch. We ate everything, superb . Hosts very friendly and accommodating. We will be back.

Change of plan this time, no main course then not enough room for cake. Coffee and cake only this time. Just as full and satisfied when we had finished. PERFECT.

We popped in for some lunch whilst visiting the Boston fair and had such a lovely experience. The woman serving us couldn’t have been more welcoming and made us feel comfortable from start to finish! We had our 3 year old with us and the ladies inside the kitchen told us they had some books inside that she could take out to keep her occupied. Food came out quickly and tasted delicious. There is a little private courtyard you can choose to sit in, and because of that we were able to enjoy the sunshine! Despite the fact that the kitchen is located amongst a busy town, and during the summer fair- it still felt lovely and quiet and private. Overall a lovely experience, would definitely recommend and will be returning.

We held a baby shower here and the venue was perfect. Really kind, helpful staff. Would highly recommend for any occasion.

Been here a few times now, and it seems to get better & better every time! Went for Sunday lunch and has a wonderful time. The meals were all perfect, and beautifully presented…. and complemented by lovely surroundings and fantastic serving staff. Cannot recommend enough.

Great quality food , never disappointed , good atmosphere and excellent service, first choice for a meal out. Always look forward to an evening at Brews.

As my friend had a big birthday (she won’t want me to divulge her age) 😜 I decided to take her somewhere new. I had seen Platform 29 on various social media sites & thought it looked very pleasant, so booked. Having never been to Ratcliffe in Trent, we set off on our adventure & we were not disappointed. The staff were all very lovely, nothing was too much trouble, even when my friend had an intolerance to mayo which I hadn’t told them about when I booked & they had asked about dietary requirements. 🤦🏼‍♀️ They made her some plain sandwiches which were equally delightful. The sandwiches were amazing, the bread was very fresh & light, the fillings plentiful. The scones were some of the best I’ve had anywhere & I’ve sampled a few in my time! Now I’m struggling to fine the words to describe the cakes (lemon & chocolate) as they were a triumph! The were so light & delicious, again some of the nicest I have had, with or without afternoon tea. I would just like to say a really big “thank you” to them for making the experience memorable in truly the best way!

He estado en un par de cenas organizadas por un grupo local aquí y he estado muy contento. A veces, proporciona la mejor comida a precios normales. Por lo demás, sigue siendo una cena totalmente agradable y de calidad decente. Si te importan los pequeños detalles, probablemente este no sea el lugar para ti, ya que está claro que el personal todavía está aprendiendo. Me pareció un poco encantador. Y los bollos de chorizo eran increíbles.
