The best restaurants serving British food in England

I had bought a wheel of tete de moine last Christmas, which The Cheese Plate had posted to me. It was great and I wanted another one this Christmas but this time I thought I'd drive up to Buntingford and see what else they have. Fortunately I was able to buy their last wheel of tete de moine, which, surprisingly, was the same price as last year! But they had some lovely other cheeses too - a spread of English, French, Swiss, Italian and Spanish I believe. The highlight was the creamy/gooey gorgonzola but I also bought a small pot of garlic jelly - something I hadn't seen before and an excellent morbier, far better than what's on offer in supermarkets.

I am gonna be honest, I was soooo happy to see this coffee shop because I really needed to go to the toilet, because in the national park it is hard to find a toilet and I was surprised that they are there (I visited a few national parks, and there is not a single bar or coffee shop in miles) so very happy to find then. And second, the lady was so nice, very friendly. Me and my brother order jack potato and I am telling you, it was a quality plate, (I love jack potato so I may sound exaggerated haha) simple but really nice. Also I took a piece of cake and was delicious. Beautiful place, beautiful views, I was in love!

Kate helped us with catering for two dinners for eight people over a weekend on the Isle of Wight. From my initial enquiry, Kate was incredibly helpful with suggestions for well balanced menus using local seasonal produce. Both dinners were dropped off by Kate at our rental house and we were given perfect instructions to heat up the various courses for both evening meals. The detail and care that Kate put into both dinners was exceptional and everything was absolutely delicous. I couldn't recommend Kate and Angel in the Kitchen more highly.

Nice quirky place with a good range of coffee, and cake very minamalist in its decor. Staff are great and it attracts a good eclectic mix of people. I had the sausage roll and a cold dring and they were great. All in all a good place for a chilled weekend brew.

The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The staff were so kind when our daughter dropped her hot chocolate - they gave us another one for free and made sure it was cool enough for her to drink. Thank you. We loved the outdoor seating area. So cosy.

Great country location with good parking. A very welcoming village style pub/restaurant with a friendly and warming atmosphere. We were greeted on arrival by the friendly and happy staff of whom went above and beyond to ensure our visit was pleasant. The menu choices offer more variety than expected, with lots of options to suit all tastes. We enjoyed a 3-course meal at our visit. We started with the pork belly, which was absolutely incredible, super tender, and bursting with flavour. Cooked to absoute perfection! For mains, my husband ate the half rack of lamb, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and for myself, I went for the Fettucine Frutti De Mare. The pasta was all freshly homemade on site, and the dish itself came with plenty of fish too, which compromised of mussels (a very healthy portion might I add too, unlike other comparative restaurants we've visited, you usually only get around 4-5 mussels, however, here, I probably had around 10 or so!), prawns and a fillet of Haddock, which again was all cooked perfectly! My pasta dish was also a very generous portion too! And for dessert, we both opted for the sticky toffee pudding. Again, another very generous sized course, very light and not stodgy, like some sticky toffee puddings, although I personally don't mind a heavy/stodgy sticky toffee, however this was a very light option to follow after 2 courses. Service was very efficient. Prices are as you'd expect for good quality, homemade food. Though, very generous portions as mentioned to reflect on the price also. An extremely good selection of gin and rum behind the bar and only a couple of whisky options (as this is my husbands general choice of spirit). Overall a lovely visit with amazing, top notch food! We will definitely be returning. My husband and I both said it was the best meal we'd eaten out for a very long time, as the quality of the food was incredible Thank you to the staff for providing us with a nice visit.

A great addition to the Chillingham Road - very good variety of food, and good coffee. Well worth a visit for fresh and unusual food, a change from the usual, and you can tell the quality by the number of people waiting outside for their orders!

What a great find ! Just of the main A22 at Forest Row you will find this little gem above a well known bathroom design shop. It's easy for find as the bath shop display an antique style bath high off the ground just by the main road! It's quite a small cafe so worth booking. We even enjoyed Al fresco eating on an area at the back over looking the fields. Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend. Ian March 2025

Visited last week. Ordered our food and hot drinks. 10 mins into our meals we still had not received our drinks. Politely reminded them. Staff member manner and face quite unfriendly, eventually came but not as requested. Staff member Unapologetic and rude manner. Will not be visiting again. Food was good but Customer service by this front of house staff member was very poor.

Buena cafetería tradicional que admite perros, tiro de piedras desde el centro de la ciudad y la playa, gran selección de comida, bebidas y pasteles. Sin duda recomendaría.

He estado en un par de cenas organizadas por un grupo local aquí y he estado muy contento. A veces, proporciona la mejor comida a precios normales. Por lo demás, sigue siendo una cena totalmente agradable y de calidad decente. Si te importan los pequeños detalles, probablemente este no sea el lugar para ti, ya que está claro que el personal todavía está aprendiendo. Me pareció un poco encantador. Y los bollos de chorizo eran increíbles.
