The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

We only wanted hot drinks on a cold bank holiday Sunday on our way to the Forbidden Corner. Having left another cafe on the opposite side of the road due to a rude waitress we were pleased to find a table in this light, airy cafe. The service was a little slow but it was a busy bank holiday. We had no complaints and other people’s food looked very appetising.

Horrible servicio al cliente y actitud. Creo que son los chefs / gerentes que han arruinado este lugar. Afortunadamente algunos de los empleados son agradables y educados, pero me imagino que trabajar aquí es miserable. Ruinas parque visitas para los clientes.

The food we had at lunch time was very good. The crispy chicken BLT sandwich was nice, as were the parmesan and truffle fries. On arrival we were told that they didn't have our reservation, however i did have my booking reservation email. It was quite quickly resolved and we were seated despite feeling a little awkward.

Lovely really enjoyed our stay. Room was lovely . Lady behind the bar was fantastic so polite and seemed to be doing a lot. Food was good and breakfast was really lovely. Clean and comfortable. Really loved it.

Gran lugar para un buen almuerzo sabroso. Un montón de opciones y se podía ver exactamente lo que estaba pidiendo. Disfrutamos de la quiche, chaqueta, ensalada y bollo!

Bacon and sausage sandwich on malted bread It fill a hole.washed down with tea hit the spot. Mrs Vicar enjoyed her cheese and onion toastie and the Cornish pasties that we took away for later.

Buen servicio y brillante en la cafetería también un montón de asientos también buen servicio de mesa y comida y bebidas agradables también pago en efectivo o tarjeta de aceptación.

He usado este chippy por años ahora siempre consigo bacalao y papas fritas 3 veces y otros trocitos, ni una vez tuve una mala comida los alimentos hermosos y grandes porciones. Las tiendas siempre limpias, el personal es muy amable y los precios son geniales.

Really enjoyed the Valentines Night meal in the restaurant. Lovely atmosphere with the new dark grey and gold wall panelling. Friendly pub too

Great little pub friendly people and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Still in process of settling in but already doing well.

This cafe is inside the Castle and we were quite surprised by how decent the food was and that the pricing was so reasonable. Normally this type of cafe has poor food and high prices.

we had visited this café previously had a really nice experience both service and food wise... what a difference this time absolutely no greeting whatsoever, no interaction, the blonde waitress was positively unfriendly as was the man we obtained our drinks from(no drink menu just pointed at the fridge) pannini's were very average one being overdone, packet crisps and packet mixed salad leaves with very thick balsamic vinegar poured over which totally overpowered any taste the 'salad' may have had.. to be frank we have not felt more unwelcome and disappointed and would suggest in such a popular tourist establishment the staff we met need to seriously consider a career change, we will not be returning or recommending The Buttery

Super food and nice atmosphere. The add on stellar service from Jake Stokes in the Bistro who really knows his wines and enhances the experience. Reasonably priced and great quality. Can only be very heartily recommended. Building in general is very interesting too.

If I could my latest experience zero stars I would. Over the years I’ve been buying fish and chips here and it’s been great with decent portion size or if anything too much. I always order large cod and it is massive however today I received 2 slivers of cod. I went back after buying with it to ask if I had been given the wrong cod - the grumpy lady behind the counter opened it and declared it was definitely large and told me sorry you came back and its now cold, wrapped it up and gave it back to me. Not what you expect and I could clearly see the fish that was cooked and waiting was larger. Awful customer service, would rather drive 5 mins further and go to Simpsons-similar price but with food customer service and better tasting food
