a new menu and some new staff have not improved this cafe, but made it worse. The staff were not very friendly, the tea was weak and the cooked breakfast was stone cold. Quite expensive for a poor offering.

A decent place for lunch. When we arrived I waited at the counter to be place an order, only to be told to sit down as they do table service, I did not see I sign to that affect, but there may have been. After a while, actually quite a while, our order was taken, after that the service was quite good, drinks and food delivered in a timely manner. The sandwiches ordered were a very generous serving and extremely tasty. We enjoyed.

I didn’t get to eat brunch on this visit - and will never be returning. Checked with Waitress Melina who was behind counter that establishment was dog friendly as her scowling look on arrival made me think they were not. I had barely sat down or settled my dog when Melina came up behind me to leave a menu, I had not seen her so my dog (a young cocker spaniel) jumped up and touched Melinas thigh with her paw. I apologised immediately explaining I had not seen her due to her approach from behind - she started to angrily tell me I had disrespected her, ruined her clothes (there was no mud or mark a dry day)she had a phobia of dogs since childhood and I had not even apologised. I explained I did apologise and again that I had not seen her approach. She continued to berate me at which point I stood to leave and went to the door. She continued to lie and state I had not apologised other customers shouted out that I had apologised. Two members of staff appeared behind the counter to ask what was happening.( I assume one was the manager Jo Moss as she has since emailed me - to defend her staff but without one single word of apology for my experience.) Not once did anyone apologise, act to defend me - or encourage me to stay other than customers already in the cafe who even mouthed the words ‘so sorry’ through the window as I walked off. I suggested to Melina if she is that afraid of dogs she should work somewhere that does not allow them or she should remain behind the counter. Most waitresses welcome your dog with treats in other establishments we have visited. This was extremely stressful experience for both myself and my dog. Photo of her below.

Booked a table for Brunch for the family. Served by Laura who welcomed us and showed us to our table, presented menus and and came back to take our orders. We had to wait quite some time but accepted this due to Covid -19 and the fact that there was very few staff in attendance and the place was busy. When food arrived all hot, well presented and tasty and plenty of it! Laura kept popping over to ensure we were all ok. Price was what we expected for what we had and very reasonable.Great little place and would recommend it for either a lite bite or something more substantial. Please note we did not stay at the hotel.

Cheaper to order the full vegetarian breakfast and leave the tomato, hash brown, mushrooms on the side of the plate. No common sense having a pricing policy which encourages food waste.

We stayed here for two nights. Lovely building and decor however our room (3)was tiny with a massive chair which we moved outside into the corridor so that we could move around in the room. The mattress needs replacing and was very lumpy, as does the toilet flush because button and the lower shower fitting which was broken and meant you could only have the shower head at one height. There did not seem to be anyone around to report this to . The breakfast was good and they had lovely omelettes and coffee. We were disturbed by a member of the Buttery staff after it had closed on Monday having a blazing row with someone late in the afternoon which went on for over 15 minutes it was so bad that I had to go down and ask them to be quiet, very unprofessional when guests are staying. I do not usually post negative reviews but we were never asked how our stay was and this needs feeding back. This is a lovely quaint establishment in a lovely location but it needs some polish and attention to detail.

Often pop in for tea if in Woodstock. Good place to meet friends and colleagues. The food is that is a typical English tearoom and of good enough quality. Can get noisy if busy which makes conversation difficult, but also makes you party to others' conversations, which on the whole is rather dull. Main bugbear is that internet is only available to residents, otherwise I would use it more often for informal meetings with partners.

When a business contact of mine from London told me he would be visiting Witney, of course I wanted to meet up with him. But also I wanted to impress him and show him the best that Witney ha to offer. When I booked dinner at The Three Horseshoes I was confident that my contact would have a great evening, and it was absolutely the right choice. As soon as he arrived he commented on how amazing the pub was, and how he loved the atmosphere and the log burner too. Our dinner was fantastic and even though the place was busy, the speed or service and the attentiveness of the team was brilliant. They were there when we needed them, and left us to get on with our business conversation the rest of the time. For impressing a really important contact from London - The Three Horseshoes was exactly the right choice and what is SO brilliant is that it is also the perfect choice for a quiet pint or to meet up with friends too.

We visited for Sunday lunch mid August. Restaurant wasn’t by any means quiet but didn’t seem overly busy. From start to finish we received excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble. All questions were answered. Food was delicious really enjoyed every bit, others had puddings which were good too. Al members of staff were excellent and clearly enjoying their work. Beth was the one who served us mostly. She was attentive, kind and extremely helpful. All in all a great visit. Pricing is reasonable, portion sizes are good. Thank you we hope to visit again soon.

It isn’t that often I visit The Windmill, but I know the place well enough to know something is very different. There was a different aura in the air today. I didn’t recognise any of the staff members, and whilst they seemed like a large family, they were all unique and discombobulated in their own ways. I must start with some high praise - we were greeted very kindly by a lovely tall Irish lady with a beaming smile. Whilst very busy, she was also very accompanying and allowed us to buy a few of their home-made pint glasses (which she said she wasn’t supposed to do). Hats off to her for the hospitality. Sadly things took a slight turn for the worse whilst we were seated. It was only myself and my partner ordering some pub grub, however, after a brief conversation with the waiter it was quickly apparent that some kind of knowledge barrier prevented us from ordering exactly what we wanted. I have a suspicion this older gentleman was a distinguished chef from years gone by, because there wasn’t a single word I understood in his recommendations. Embarrassingly, we decided to opt for a few beers at the bar before ordering food instead. I must admit, that was a saving grace, for their homemade beer ‘Hawkstone’ was divine. The bartender was full of dry wit which added to a great atmosphere amongst the other guests. He has that familiar family friendly humour, like you wouldn’t be surprised to see him on TV! Not only was the beer exceptional in quality, the slight intoxication seemed to clear up some of the brain fog I was experiencing earlier, since the waiter suddenly seemed to made a lot more sense! So, we finally ordered our meal and enjoyed some local produce - again, simply divine. Despite the great tastes and atmosphere, I couldn’t help but feel the service was jeopardised by the initial language barrier. As such, I did ask the waiter if we could remove our service charge. I should add, this was a new waiter at the time, a dreary English chap who wasn’t impressed with our request. Whilst his thorough and detailed lecture around why a service charge holds such an important role in the overarching finance of the food industry, I tried to hold my ground and get this removed from the bill. It was only after we realised my partner had been asleep for 8 minutes that we sped things up, paid the bill with a 50/50 compromise on the service charge, and got ourselves out of there. All in all, I’d recommend the establishment because, despite some teething problems and unorthodox scenarios, the people are genuine and the food/drink is exceptional. Just keep an eye out for those tractors (given the rural area) - a young man with curly blonde hair had completely blocked my car in so we had to wait half an hour to leave!

Three phone conversations with the hotel management eventually confirmed that a Sunday roast could be obtained in the Terrace resturant. A table for 7 was booked and confirmed. On arrival the Terrace resturant was set up for a wedding ceremony. No other dining tables were apparent. On querying this with bar staff we were abruptly told "not our problem".Eventually found a deputy manager who set about laying up a dining table amongst the wedding guests ! Meanwhile we tried other local venues but couldn't get in within our timescale. We eventually sat for our anticipated Sunday lunch in a crowded golf club bar surrounded by a multitude of wedding guests. The food was obviously recently pulled out of the freezer, looked and tasted same ! HOPELESS !!We recommend training for front of house management in the art of coordination and courtesy for members of the bar staff.
