The Blenheim Buttery in West Oxfordshire

Booked a table for Brunch for the family. Served by Laura who welcomed us and showed us to our table, presented menus and and came back to take our orders. We had to wait quite some time but accepted this due to Covid -19 and the fact that there was very few staff in attendance and the place was busy. When food arrived all hot,well presented and tasty and plenty of it! Laura kept popping over to ensure we were all ok. Price was what we expected for what we had and very reasonable.Great little place and would recommend it for either a lite bite or something more substantial.Please note we did not stay at the hotel.

We booked accommodation late on Thursday due to the lockdown in Wales. We’ve eaten in on both nights as the food is so good. Breakfast was great. Room is great. Evening meal superb. Great value and great service.

The Blenheim buttery is the perfect location in Woodstock, my wife and I checked in for 1 night and was so impressed with the area we stayed 4 (so much to do in the area) The buttery is very clean and the rooms are perfect, we had evening meal which was top quality. The menu is very good with a lot variation for all people. Cannot recommend it enough Top job was done by all the staff Will definitely be returning

Visited for lunch and enjoyed the chilli jacket potatoes. Ideally would prefer more chilli heat but I understand it has to cater to everyone. Friendly service.

Was very happy with our recent night at this establishment, very helpful and friendly staff, lovely spotless clean room, comfy beds, lovely white towels and all toiletries provided.Tasty fresh cooked full english enjoyed by all.Very sure we will be back to visit this little find again in the hopeful near future.

Staying here until Friday 28th. Booked a few days away to celebrate my 62nd birthday. Having a good time. Really old building with uneven walls and floors but so full of character and very clean. Two of the staff brought me breakfast in bed on my birthday, what a lovely thought. Food is good and reasonably priced and served by lovely friendly people. Would stay here again.Thanks to the Blenheim Buttery for a memorable stay.

Took morning coffee here on a pleasant sunny morning watching the world go by. There is a large range of food and drink on offer. Inside the premises it is deceptively spacious and roomy. I noticed that they also offer accommodation as well.

Found this place for great breakfast before a day at Blenheim Palace. Doesn't look much from the outside but plenty of seating. good food and service.

It's also a takeaway but table service is excellent. Good choice of food, presented and cooked to a top restaurant level at very reasonable prices

We had a an evening meal here - food was awesome, staff excellent and it was just nice to sit and watch the world go by. Dont be fooled by the basic looks, its a hidden gem.

We regularly visit Woodstock but this was our first visit to the Buttery. They have just recently started doing evening meals. The covid precautions were good with nice spacing between the tables. We had a selection of tapas starters with fishcakes to follow. This was a quality meal and good service. We can't find fault

The Blenheim Buttery is in a wonderful position in the center of Woodstock.Open all day, but only recently to include evening meals.Lovely building, friendly welcoming staff, and all sensible Covid precautions in place, which made you feel very safe and comfortable.Extensive, varied menu at reasonable prices. Good choice of sharing boards and tapas for starters, various burgers, fishcakes, etc for mains, with a range of vegetarian options. We had tapas to start, then halloumi burger/chips and fishcakes. All delicious.It was great to eat out again and I'd highly recommend you give The Buttery a visit.

We are familiar with Woodstock but always looking for great evening venues. The Blenheim Buttery now open evenings for dinner offered this. A warm welcome from staff and super range of food available, all well done and reasonably priced. Washed down with a lovely glass of wine, we were very happy. We sampled a mix of small starters and then salmon burger was my choice. Delicious. The restaurant has a simple one way system in operation with other Covid safety precautions taken. Well done The Buttery. A taste of normality! We’ll be back...

The food was well-cooked and of sizeable proportions, and service impressive considering how busy it was.

Nice lunch stop. We had a light lunch, sandwich or soup, sandwiches were very nice with salads and crisps, tomato and basil soup was a little rustic and very little basil. Staff all pleasant and helpful.

Had a nicelunch with friendly staff. Very busy at lunchtime but around 14:00 plenty of room. We will go again for lunch.

Stumbled upon this delightful little place and had breakfast which was superb. Great value for money, a full plate full and a choice of scrambled or fried ..... blooming lovely and we will be back.

As no one even noticed us for quite some time eventually we were asked if we wanted a menu and then the lady never came back... awesome. So we left.

Staying locally on business as working in Blenheim Palace and tried a few venues for breakfast in the village. I think this place for great. Best value for money and great tasting food. I would certainly recommend and I will be back on my next business trip down!

A vegetarian breakfast includes hash brown, tomato, mushrooms, baked beans, 2 free range eggs, white/brown toast for a reasonable price of £5.00. If you want just eggs on toast with beans £6.45. Cheaper to order the full vegetarian breakfast and leave the tomato, hash brown, mushrooms on the side of the plate. No common sense having a pricing policy which encourages food waste.

The coffee was OK, the cakes and scones were OK, the service was OK. But that's about it - just OK, nothing special!

We visit Woodstock quite often and have stayed at a number of hotels and B and Bs but tis was the first time at the Buttery.Only six rooms, of various sizes all housed in this ancient building but all thoroughly modern, well equipped, nicely furnished and clean.Breakfast, included in the rate, is very well cooked although rather limited in choice and the cafe is open until late afternoon. There is no evening food available but there are plenty of options nearby, Brothertons opposite cannot be bettered.All in all a very comfortable stay and we would definately use the Buttery again.

My wife and I went here for lunch today and I must say it was very enjoyable. I had bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich with trimmings. My wife had the same but she had Granary bread. The coffee was very good also.

Great little place for breakfast. Had the breakfast special was excellent as well as very reasonable. Good value for money great ambience.

We had a lovely light snack - Ploughmans cheddar and pickle sandwich and BLT and crisps and salad - lovely big sandwiches and generous portion of salad

After a walk in the gardens of Blenheim Palace we stopt here for a short while for some drinks and something to eat.

Excellent, quick stop for lunch before Blenheim Palace. Not crowded, outstanding service, delicious gluten free. Highly recommend. Can pack a picnic for you too!

Full English breakfast at a fiver? Got to be a catch, right? No. Quality ingredients, well cooked and presented, good service too. Recommended.

Stayed here with a friend for a night and found the staff super nice. The location is great - it is right in the town and there plenty of places to eat and drink. Breakfast the next morning was very tasty and the coffee was superb. Would definitely stay again.

This is a delightful establishment, full of old world charm, we popped in for lunch & sat outside in the small rear courtyard, the weather was very good which added to the appeal, this was a lovely place to lunch, the service & food were very good, definitely recommend.

We stayed at the Buttery and were impressed with the included Breakfast Buffet featuring with both hot and cold items, coffee, tea, juices and hot chocolate. Heidi, the hostess, was super friendly and made it a pleasure to eat there.

Often visit this restaurant in the centre of Woodstock The staff are very cheerful, and you meet many local people in there. Great coffee and what I like hot chocolate. They cope with disabled people very well. JohnW

I worked for 5 days at the Blenheim palace and garden during a massive sport event and during my breaks l was looking for a place in Woodstock where l could eat something without spending a lot of money. I came across this very nice traditional style cafeteria and l ordered a full English breakfast. I was impressed as l particularly appreciated the portion (l could barely finished it). The stuff is nice and welcoming, the lady at the till called me twice “love” which is simply heartwarming and totally unexpected considering that l live in London. Last but not least....prices are ridiculously ok. Definitely this place deserves a visit.

A modest tea room but with great service and a typical yet satisfying menu, we enjoyed tea and crumpets and toasted tea cakes. Also - very peaceful compared with battling away with crowds in Blenheim Palace. Try it out.

We wandered around Woodstock after a day at Blenheim looking forward to a tea and pastry and thought this place looked interesting.

Unplanned stop in for teatime, very good selection of sandwiches and such for teatime. I had a delicious salmon bap that came with fries and a bit of salad. We sat in the cozy side garden that was perfect for blue sky day.

Lovely place, lovely people and the best cheese omelette anywhere EVER! Waitress was patient and polite in the face of rudeness - not from us! If food is freshly cooked, then there will be a little wait if they're busy.

We were looking for a breakfast in Woodstock because our hotel was charging £18 per person!!!

Having Cycled 30 miles a group of us had a welcoming visit to the Buttery. A few of us had their Full English Breakfast and it was scrumptious and fantastic value too. Lovely staff and did not wait long either. Definitely going back.

Stayed one night, lovely and quirky, very clean rooms, our room was too small think it was no.3 ok for one night not for two. Bed was too soft and only a small double. Breakfast was lovely, with lovely staff and very cosy Christmas decorations.

Hier wird man freundlich empfangen und sehr gut bedient. Man hat eine gute Auswahl beim Afternoon Tea. Leider wird der Tee im Teebeutel serviert. Die Gemüsesuppe als Tagessuppe war schmackhaft und typisch englisch zubereitet. Das Brot noch warm. Kleine Dekospots setzen freundliche Akzente.

I went for an omelet one morning and it was very nice. Then I went back a few weeks ago for a late lunch and the lady never showed up to serve me. So strange. She knew I was there because she helped me bring a stroller in. I am patient but I waited over 15 minutes and then gave up and left. Not sure what happened but wouldn't take a guest in there for fear of a repeat.

Came here yesterday in preference to overpriced underwhelming food at Blenheim Palace. We had a lovely lunch served in pleasant surroundings by friendly staff. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good lunch.

Visited here for afternoon tea with my mum, we ordered 2 scones, 2 coffees and a slice of cake! Wish we hadn't bothered as the scones were dry with extremely tiny portions of jam and cream slapped on the plate. The slices of cake were also very small for the price and on the dry side! Furthermore our coffee cups were only half filled and even they were small cups to start with. We were not impressed as the prices weren't cheap to say the least! Very dissapointing as we felt ripped off.

Had a late lunch here. Good choice and tasty food. The homemade cakes were amazing. Very pleasant waitress who showed us to seats in a small courtyard garden so we could eat outside.

Rather strange place--B & B rooms are at back of restaurant so if you arrive after business hours (after 1800) you have to phone ahead and wait to be let in. All OK except when you are left outside in the cold and freezing rain!!

Ask for their WiFi password. I spent quite a bit of time here for months actually whilst staying in Woodstock and the waitstaff are friendly, accommodating and simply delightful. If you venture out to the loo, notice the charming patio out back where one can have a comfy seat and a cuppa.

Lovely pot of tea for two. I had a great piece of Victoria sponge and my wife’s lemon cake was fab too. Good service and clean. Will be back.

We stayed here for two nights. Lovely building and decor however our room (3)was tiny with a massive chair which we moved outside into the corridor so that we could move around in the room. The mattress needs replacing and was very lumpy, as does the toilet flush because button and the lower shower fitting which was broken and meant you could only have the shower head at one height. There did not seem to be anyone around to report this to . The breakfast was good and they had lovely omelettes and coffee. We were disturbed by a member of the Buttery staff after it had closed on Monday having a blazing row with someone late in the afternoon which went on for over 15 minutes it was so bad that I had to go down and ask them to be quiet,very unprofessional when guests are staying. I do not usually post negative reviews but we were never asked how our stay was and this needs feeding back. This is a lovely quaint establishment in a lovely location but it needs some polish and attention to detail.

Little understanding of what constitutes a chilli - they appeared to believe that soggy mince was the sole ingredient. Sad!

This is the second time we have visited here, first time we had dinner which was lovely and now breakfast! Both were exceptional lovely chilled surroundings, attentive staff and finished off with great food, we will certainly be going again!

Only about six rooms here, but eight of us occupied four of them, and they were very good - clean and comfortable. Had breakfast there on the Saturday, then visited Blenheim Palace, had dinner opposite in a very nice pub, then on the Sunday did a bus tour of Oxford. Great weekend, despite the awful weather - 7 degrees max, yet felt like 3!!

In centrum van Woodstock ligt The Blenheim Buttery. Uitstekende stop na Blenheim Palace. Vlotte bediening, leuke menukaart met redelijke prijzen. Je kan er ook slapen.

Really enjoyed my stay here free long stay parking five minute walk away and one hour free parking outside. Delightful room, very quiet and clean. Good breakfast choice and friendly service. Two minute walk from Blenhiem gates. Really wished they had been open for dinner.

In Woodstock at the Baptist Church in tge morning. Found this lovely little eatery in the town. Warm welcome good food. Pleasant surroundings in an olde worlde building. Stone walls authentic beams. Loved it. Right opposite the beautiful Town Hall building

A warm welcome and nice choice or lunch and cakes. We had omelette and a chicken dish and both excellent well made, hot and generous portion. Would go back again.

We stayed in Woodstock for one night to catch up with friends and as it was Valentines Weekend most other hotels were too expensive. The Blenheim Buttery was a reasonable price and included breakfast. The rooms are clean and well decorated and the accommodation is very well located being in the centre of Woodstock. Free parking is available in a car park nearby but drop off your cases first! Breakfast is in the cafe below and was very good. Would recommend this B&B;.

We had an afternoon stop here for a drink and cake. The atmosphere is pleasant but not cosy. The choice for a quick break is limited. Service was pleasant but not particularly friendly. Overall, this served a purpose but was not overwhelming.

Very nice quiet restaurant in the middle of Woodstock on Market Place. We had a very good lunch here before touring Blenheim Palace. Good friendly service. We had soup of the day with a mixed salad and a Buttery Burger with chips. Other interesting offerings on the menu. Highly recommended.

A traditional Oxfordshire tea room, with plenty of space, tables and chairs to accommodate many. The Tea was good, the scones were good, but alas I had to ask for more cream and jam to accompany my scone? The ratio weren’t quite correct. However well priced, well served from pleasant staff all in good time and in clean and welcoming establishment. I would visit again.

Excellent location and good coffee & cakes; it would help the atmosphere hugely if they could have warm lighting, rather than some inconsistent bright spotlights miixed with warm lights.

Often pop in for tea if in Woodstock. Good place to meet friends and colleagues. The food is that is a typical English tearoom and of good enough quality. Can get noisy if busy which makes conversation difficult, but also makes you party to others' conversations, which on the whole is rather dull. Main bugbear is that internet is only available to residents, otherwise I would use it more often for informal meetings with partners.

We had a lovely day in Blenheim Palace, followed by a walk along the Woodstock High Street. A lovely stop at the Blenheim Buttery for afternoon tea and cake. It was late (around 4.30pm) and the cakes were a little dry - however, Im sure it would have been moist earlier in the day! Nice atmosphere and great selection of cakes.

After a disappointing time at the Palace we parked in Woodstock looking for somewhere to sit in comfort with family and friends and a cream tea on the side !!

We popped in here on our way to Blenheim Palace and I had a fish finger sandwich which was tasty. Came with chips and a side salad. My partner had the BLT bap which was also good. Service was fast and friendly and prices are very reasonable.

We were recently in Woodstock on a day trip out of London. It was lunchtime and we began looking for a place to eat. We selected the Blenheim Buttery. We enjoyed our lunch in a warm and inviting place. The food was fresh and well prepared. We would recommend this simple, cozy place for a nice lunch.

The weather was good so we ate outside in the courtyard but they had comfortable seating areas inside as well. Great coffee and cakes.

Sehr süßes, kleines Teehaus/Restaurant in Woodstock, ganz in der Nähe von Blenheim Palace. Sehr nettes Personal, schnell und effektiv. Wir hatten das ganztägige Frühstück (Full English Breakfast), war total lecker. Gemütlich eingerichtet, auch von lokalen Gästen besucht und richtig schön.

We had tea, cakes and English breakfast. The food was good quality and service was fast and friendly.

Very slow service, even though the place was largely empty. Asked for scone and jam without cream and that's what we got: a cold scone, a spoonful on jam on the plate and (despite its name) no butter. Asked for butter and the waitress said: "but you said no cream". True. We didn't say no butter though. We were given some really cold, hard butter pats. They matched the scones...

We were visiting friends and they very kindly treated us to afternoon the at the buttery , we enjoyed our tea very much but as there were 8 of us the table was very cramped and would of benefited from using cake stands instead of using plates, the presentation could of been better but saying that the food was very good with generous portions, would go back again

Called today, very pleasant polite service, quick and efficient, we only had coffee which was of very good quality and served nice and hot, very clean tidy surroundings, we hope to come back for lunch another day.

Really enjoyed our afternoon tea at The Blenheim Buttery. A good choice of freshly prepared cakes and snacks with an excellent range of hot and cold drinks. I would recommend the traditional afternoon tea for one, which was beautifully presented, delicious and great value at just over £8. The service was efficient and friendly and we will definitely return when we next visit Woodstock.

This is a nice place to visit for a coffee and a snack. The staff are pleasant and the service is fast. Recommended

We popped in and had afternoon tea which was great because the cafe was so busy. Very glad we did, good food, calm relaxed atmosphere, comfy chairs with room between tables and good service. Would definitely use again.

We went here today hoping for afternoon tea. When we arrived the lady behind the counter had her back to us . We asked if there was counter service or table service. She didn't bother to turn around but replied with her back to us that it was table service. We took a seat and after more than 5 minutes nothing happened although it was not busy. Then she walked straight by us, said nothing and went out through a door at the back . We sat for a little longer then left.

The scones were dry and stale. The place was cute, but we won't be back. We actually were looking for a place that had gone out of business. Sorry we wasted calories eating here. Blenheim would have been a better choice.

Went here for lunch whilst staying in Woodstock. If you like real, strong coffee (and I do) this is a good place to go. Partner had homemade quiche and I had homemade macaroni cheese and both meals were fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Would definitely go back again.

This place is stunning, old and full of history. Beautiful building.We stayed in room 2 with king size bed, lovely size room and spotlessly clean.TV on wall , ironing board and all usual faculties including clean towels on both days.Breakfast was excellent on both mornings with plenty of choice and freshly cooked.The only problem with our visit was a noise coming from the en suite - an intermittent buzzing noise that seemed to be more apparent at night whilst trying to sleep. We reported this straight away and was told that a plumber would attend the next day. Since there were no more available rooms we were told we would receive a discount from our bill.Night 2 and I was awake from 1am to 3.30am due to the noise once again.it is not 24 hour reception and so had to wait til morning.When we checked out we told the staff but was offered nothing off of our bill.2 nights with hardly any sleep is just not what we signed up for.Such a shame as The Buttery is beautifully located for all amenities on the doorstep.Not sure we would risk it again.
