A local gem inside the park. A significant reason why we go to the park is because of this cafe. Their soups and bread are freshly made. Cakes and sandwiches are fabulous, too.

Having worked in a few cafe before I know the customer service is really not good. 0 smiles or willingness to help. We came at lunch time so I get it gets busy and stressful but their was multiple people behind the counter. Menu very limited although what is on offer looks very tasty. The toasties/sandwiches tasted nice but were presented terribly and looked like they had been thrown together. The coffee was good, but lukewarm. The cakes however tasted really really amazing but were thrown in a cardboard box. So presentation needs to be worked on. I wouldn't mind really but the prices are absolutely ridiculous and do not reflect the service and the food you get. I didn't want to review at all as there's always another side to every story but I was personally very disappointed. Really think the decor needs work too. Place seems clean, outdoor area is really nice. I would come here for a coffee in future but not food.

If I could give this palce 0 stars I would. Everything there is bad- from the customer service through food to drinks and prices. I feel the only reason they have customers there is because it's the only place in the area where you can get food and drinks. I ordered a matcha latte, cake and soup. The tomato soup that was served there today was DISGUSTING. I don't think anyone tried it after it had been made. If they did they'd throw it away. The only thing that you could taste there was pepper and celery salt or whatever salt it was. There was nothing else you could taste there and the only reason we decided to eat it is because it would have been a waste of money. The iced drinks are served in micro plastic cups- 200ml max. You get a cup that's full of ice, a bit of milk and matcha/espresso shot and you pay £4.50 (not sure if they charged me extra for non dairy milk, if they did I guess I paid around £5 for my matcha). The espresso we ordered was horrible and the americano we had had nothing to do with coffee. The cakes cost around £4-4.50/slice. Seriously, have we gone mad? The staff there have no idea about customer service but maybe because an average person there is hmm... 18yo? The only person that looked older there was a guy who served us and who might have been an owner? The tables are DIRTY. I asked a girl behind the counter to wipe one down for us to which she said they would but that never happened. We sat just outside at the front. I appreciate it was fairly busy but not ridiculously. Next time I'm in the park I'll make sure I bring my own drinks and food as there's no way I'll support a business that's trying to rip their customers off.

This has become a regular stop after taking our canines on the Mersey and Turn Moss fields. It is always a great pleasure to be welcomed with smiles, warmness and genuine hospitalility, especially when you've got large dogs. We always find we are treated equally and fairly, as many people have become very vocal to large dog owners and try to make their presence feel uncomfortable, but not here. We will continue to use your facilities regardless of the odd few. The food is always absolutely spot on and value for money. Would recommend 100%

I ordered poached eggs, avocado on toast to sit in and waited 30 mins for it, just as I’d enquired when it would be ready at counter it arrived. First impression - it looked awful, the eggs were hard and the whole thing was cold. I ended up getting it boxed and making my own eggs at home. So many staff members behind the counter, the two people cooking were mostly just chatting as far as I could see. This place is fine for a coffee and cake but other than that no thanks.

This place is lovely, the staff are really sweet and friendly HOWEVER we waited 45 minutes for 2 toasties this afternoon (I'm a carer and kept the receipt so I'm 100% on the time I ordered). They don't have enough staff working and whenever it's a nice day they just go completely to pieces. It's great the food is made fresh and they bring it to you (although I went in and waited for ours just to help them out a bit) but I honestly think they need to have some things (ie kids sandwiches) made up in advance. People were waiting over 10 minutes for takeaway coffees as the only guy serving was having to make sandwiches as well as take orders and payments. The 2 yo child on the table next to us waited half an hour for a ham sandwich. Its really not OK. Managers should have a look at their food offering bc its not realistic and add extra staff for sunny days in winter, the staff are overrun and its not fair on them, and it's not exactly great for hungry children or their grown ups either.

Came in for a coffee before I took my son to the park. They took my name and told me that it would be out in a few minutes. After 15 minutes of juggling a restless toddler I notice the only person now working there is clearing tables so I went to ask how long my order would be. The guy really bluntly said to me that he's just got back from his break and my order must have been lost in the system because whoever had taken it wasn't there anymore. No apology and no offer for a refund, he just makes me a really rushed coffee which was full of coffee grinds. 20 minutes and £3.30 well spent. Shambolic. Won't be returning

The Cafe is located in a very nice neighborhood park and the ambience is really classic. Staffs are extremely friendly and helpful. Food served was great, especially the sourdough bread items. I’ve visited the cafe twice before leaving this review, however the staff are incredibly rude - lucky if you’re acknowledged (bar one older member of the team who’s polite) the food is mediocre at best yet overpriced. So disappointing to have a team of staff who just chat amongst themselves, the cafe could be lovely and is constantly busy due to the park - if it wasn’t for that, I’m sure people would choose to spend their money elsewhere. I won’t be returning after this visit - was hoping the first time was a one off.

I always pop by this cafe situated next to the park because it's a fantastic place. There is lots of wonderful seating outside and a great selection of cakes, coffees and sandwiches. But my main reason I like to frequent this place so much is the customer service. There is one lady. I think her name is Keeley (forgive me if I'm wrong) she is so sweet, greets everyone with a smile always so happy. She's as northern as they come and I absolutely love that. An absolute credit to the business and I'm sure a lot of people will agree. She really makes my (and my twin daughters) day. Keep up the good work. Standards have slipped here sadly. They look so run off their feet and the lack of competition and the captive audience seems to have created quite a lazy approach to standards. Compared to the delicious breakfast I had there a couple of years ago, it was effectively a wet piece of bread it’s some raw unseasoned tofu that was quite literally thrown onto the table in a box, for 6 quid. Went straight back. Not one to complain, I usually roll my eyes at negative reviews on here but it really was woeful. I am desperately rooting for this business but the standards have declined dramatically

I’ve never returned any food in my life and I’m not a difficult customer. I ordered toasted sourdough with tofu scramble and herb mushrooms. A cardboard box was thrown down on the table with soggy untoasted bread, unseasoned cold uncooked tofu and slimy cold mushrooms with not a herb or any seasoning in sight. Really gross and professional comedians thinking that’s acceptable. Got a refund with no fuss but still an unfortunate experience.

Been coming to this cafe for a long time now. The best park in Manchester & it's in Stretford. We were so lucky to move to Stretford, & find a lovely cafe in a great park. The coffee was good. Tea not bad. Food was lovely, but all very expensive. The only thing I found odd, for a cafe inside a park, was all they did for children was either a cheese or ham sandwich. Still only do that to this day. So whenever I was there with the grandkids, I would buy them an adult meal to share. But not anymore. The staff have changed a lot over time. They're not friendly now. Food is really awful. Most of the time you are served fairly stale sour dough bread. Had always been their best thing. Too expensive for small portions these days. The coffee is pretty undrinkable, and I'm sure they use UHT milk. we'll still visit the park of course, but will probably take a flask, & some picnic food.

Had lunch here yesterday but not our first visit to this quirky little café. Many of the comments on here refer to the expense of eating here, I disagree. At £31 for drinks and hot food for four I don’t feel the prices are unreasonable in any way. My home made soup served with delicious crusty bread was delicious as, it appears was the vegan stew, other options we chose seemed to go down well - the Bakewell Tart was simply superb! Yes, compared with McDonalds it’s expensive, but you get what you pay for and I would prefer to pay for good quality, freshly produced, non industrial food, just as they deliver here. The menu seems to provide an option for most tastes and wallets but doesn’t try to be all things to all customers, the lunchtime queues speak to the popularity of the place. There is limited undercover seating but extensive open air options. The staff are by and large friendly and engage with customers, happily taking food to your table, the service can be a little disorganised in the confined prep & service area. Overall I feel that this is a lovely place to grab lunch of coffee and cake, long may it continue👍

Had our meal early Tuesday night, food was excellent and reasonably priced, bit disappointed in the choice of real ale but in this day and age I can understand that if it's not economical to put on a new barrel, you don't. Wine was reasonably priced and a very pleasant replacement. There was plenty of attentive staff to look after us. The new revamp of the pub is very good and the fact that dogs are welcome in the bar area is a big plus. Will be back again.

Booked a large party in for a family gathering, from making the booking to paying the bill service was above and beyond, thank you. Food was excellent, everyone in our group really enjoyed their meals. Would not hesitate in recommending the Axe and Cleaver. We will definitely be returning.

One of the last standing traditional local pubs, a hub for the local community. Family run.Great staff, drinks, snacks and live sports. Traditional vault, darts room and posh side. Fabulous.
