Definately not high class and not for elitists. Family driven, noisy gym and people who just would rather work in the cafe gym than at home/office. Too busy and at capacity. For one of thier best DL's in the northwest, It isnt great at all. Just average. for 220GBP a month.

Today was amazing to see David Lloyds place am so pleased by the tour amazing swim pools and all around I hope to see u all very soon I was upset because I could not go for a swim or have anything to eat because I had to be a member first so sad I really wanted to try the outside pool a little would of been nice want to know why I had to be a member first before I could go for a swim I really was upset over it will my swim be before I decide to be a member or after if not I will not be coming back or being a member I believe that I should try before I become a member

The facilities and level of service are quite frankly shocking for how much we pay for this club. 1. The place is always filthy- any time of the day you go it’s just dirty - the gym machines are filthy, the cup holders on the cardio machines are disgusting (I once went to the same machine 3 times over a week and there was the same filthy napkin stuck in the cup holder the whole week!!); the walls are filthy, the fountains are dirty like I think nothing has ever been cleaned or wiped down there. Changing rooms are even worse, the lockers look like they’ve never been cleaned, the showers have years of dirt on them 2. Changing rooms are pretty old - it’s like walking into what they would have looked like 20 years ago (and they’re probably older) plus the ladies ones are tinyyyy, considering they keep signing on people and it’s always rammed 3. Reception desk staff are usually the grumpiest people you’ll meet there especially first thing in the morning don’t waist your breath 4. Towels are super old and look like they haven’t been changed in 10 years 5. They keep quoting that they spent however many million on remodelling the place but really it just looks like a cheap paint job and some new furniture (made worse by the fact it’s always filthy!) 6. You never get any warning about any of the facilities being closed - I’ve probably driven there 4 times to use the jacuzzi just to be told it’s closed - you never get any emails/notifications to let you know in advance they don’t care you’re waisting petrol 7. The place is now way too busy - when we started going before you could visit the club and actually get a workout in like a normal person - impossible now as it’s too busy at all times, people fighting for the machines, there’s only like 15 treadmills (or maybe a few more) and that’s just insanely low with how many people are there 8. Screaming kids running around with absolutely no supervision - the staff do absolutely nothing for this (like introduce some rules to the parents about how they kids need to behave in the common areas) 9. Toilets and sinks are ancient in the changing room, and you should see how filthy the hand driers are I could go on but really you get the point - save your money and go somewhere else

Update 7: Since the 4+ million pound renovation, facilities are a lot better in most areas. Bit they have removed the business hub where you could get a quiet space and it's now all open plan & noisy. The new spa is very nice, but you have to pay min £30 for the privilege. Still no getting away from the fact that the membership fees are daylight robbery! Update 6: Only one adult and no kids membership now. It's such a shame that generally good staff are let down by such a capitalistic company. Update 5: The membership team are a bunch of disreputable con-artists! They give one family a certain deal but then deliberately "neglect" to tell another of a similar deal, thereby fleecing them. We have learned that (as a family of 2 adults & 2 kids) we are on not too bad a deal but another similar family of 4 is paying an eye-watering £350/month for a similar membership deal. Update 4: Great coaches for kids swimming & tennis. Update 3: Still extortionate and cafe staff still below par. We're cancelling our membership due to cost of living crisis. BEWARE! They demand 3 months notice. They fleece you when you're a member & they fleece you when you want to leave 😡 cannot begin to tell you how much I despise their overpriced membership fees. Update 2: Fees now 239/month with rackets for 1 adult & 2 kids. I despise such unreasonable fees but for my wife's needs, there isn't any pool open in our area as late as she needs. Update: The cafe staff, while very pleasant people, are still not great. On my last few visits, 3 times now they have tried to give me food I didn't order! And the fees are still extortionate, if not even MORE expensive - I'm so glad I don't have to pay for membership here, but it's still well over 150/month for my wife & 2 kids 😬 Some months ago, before lockdown, I had a shockingly bad experience in your Manchester Trafford City cafe! Misleading menu, missed two key items out of the salad, and had the cheek to ask after the second complaint if everything else was ok with it! The food in Leeds club is way better! And this on top of the outrageous, eye-watering monthly fees DL charges makes it impossible to recommend.

I’m really disappointed with my recent experience at David Lloyd Trafford due to the unprofessional and rude behaviour of a management team member. Abigail approached me in a very abrupt and disrespectful manner, claiming that my children were left unattended on the poolside loungers, which she insisted was against company policy. However, when challenged where this policy was stated specifically regarding children sitting on loungers whilst relaxing and having a snack she was unable to provide any evidence. Good customer service should be a priority in any establishment, but Abigail’s attitude was the complete opposite. She made us feel unwelcome and disrespected. It’s unacceptable for a manager to treat customers this way, and I sincerely hope the club takes action to improve their staff’s approach to customer service. She was dismissive and rude towards both me and my children. This experience has seriously made me reconsider my membership at this club. I expect much better service from a place like David Lloyd, and I want this matter to be addressed adequately. No member should be spoken to in such a manner, and I hope steps are taken to improve the customer experience moving forward.

Despite the upgrades including a really nice spa they spent millions on, the place is becoming unusable. Parking has become what I can only call feral. Cars parked in verges, blocking thoroughfares, and in the newly created mud that used to be landscaping. The club room is full, the changing rooms an intimidating combination of too many people and a lack of locker discipline. Clothing, possessions, and abandoned club towels left on the few already over subscribed benches. This place has been over-sold, and isn't nice any more.

Premium Price for a Disappointing Experience David Lloyd Trafford has supposedly had a £4.5m refurb inverstment resulting in a new health Spa to elevate it to a Premium club in the DL Portfolio. Its such a huge shame that this investment didnt extend to the Cycling Studio for Cyclone and Rythmn classes. Its really disappointing that so many ppl are having to take classes where the studio screen keeps freezing during the class making it challenging to keep up with the workout, then many of the onboard cycle computers dont work - so you have to use the screen and focus on that and more so - the handle bars and seats dont lock into place so throughout the class you are wobbling all over the place akin to being on a 1900s boneshaker - not exactly what I would class as a Premium experience - esp after the recent 10 to 20% membership increase. The focus seems to be more on ensuring ppl are only allocated x1 towel and to charge ppl £2 for an additional one even if they are doing multiple HIT classes and then have to shower to then go to work - hardly hygienic - so I now have to take my own - which is barmy. surely the focus should be the bigger picture of a Positive Membership experience rather petty minor things for the odd member in a justified situation. Hardly an example of their 1st Vale -Passion to Serve. We all have genuine passion, enthusiasm and energy to serve our Members and make a real difference. Shame really

It's a bit overpriced for what you get. There are some members who pay £120-£150pm and others that pay £180+. Some of the facilities can get a bit dirty particularly during the busy periods (to be expected). The new spa is nice though. The contract and sales team don't explain the terms and conditions really well and if you signed up in December for a membership you'll experience a price increase in Jan. So be careful and take your time when signing up as it may not be what you're expecting.

I came to the Trafford DL on my partners guest pass. Who already pays a lot of money for the facilities here. Not once did I experience exceptional service which I would expect for the this calibre of leisure centre, I experienced rude, ignorant customer assistants at every point of the centre. On top of using the guest pass, we then had to pay for use of the spa on top of the payment my partner pays monthly. What is the point of a guest pass when we are still paying. When entering the Spa, ‘Tom’ was rude and aggressive in his approach of us entering and only changed his tune when my partner presented receipt of payment for use of the spa. This is not acceptable. At this point after experiencing not 1 but 2 rude members of staff, I was extremely fed up. We have been debating having a family membership for a family of 5, and just finish my visit off, we ordered food made payment to then be told what we wanted wasn’t available, so then after 30 minutes of waiting for beans on toast, 1 piece of bread and 1 teaspoon size of beans which covered only 1/4 piece of my toast/cold bread just completed my visit. So disappointed, although the one young lady apologised for our wait. We didn’t receive a refund for the food that was want available and was offered a coffee as a replacement. I was expecting such high standards and high levels of customer service to which to my disappointment I will not be bringing my family to this establishment.

Extremely disappointing service recently from David Lloyd Trafford. They opened a new spar, and my couples membership fee shot up over 12% more! Been a member for 5 years, and now im treated like an idiot at the desk when i want to speak to membership team, nobody from memberships around! Told to use the app, where there is ‘supposedly’ an instant chat feature. Staff tried to show me on my own phone, only to prove im correct, no way of contacting memberships. The app only allows you to leave an email, which they are so far behind on, they are not managing membership enquiries, or complaints . I’m being taken advantage of because I want to use the Blaze class, so they force me to pay for a new Spa that I never asked for, don’t want, need or use. If you join, your membership is susceptible to raise over 10% each year, and when a membership is £150+ per month anyway, that could get eye watering in just a couple years because they want us to pay for new facilities, so not to take it out of stakeholders profits!

Overpriced, overcrowded and shady business practices. After spending nearly £2,000 during a 14 month term at the gym I can confidently say it’s NOT WORTH IT and I’m sure prices are going up! Go to MOVE Urmston instead, better class timetable, more classes for family, baby and toddler sensory, baby swim etc only £37pcm with gym equipment u can track against and clean facilities. At DL you’re paying a ridiculous monthly fee for high spec overcrowded facilities. In my year+ at the gym 1) Everytime I’ve raised a query about my membership it’s been very hard to get through to someone but when I have I’ve been spoken down to almost like staff are already on the defence based on experiences with other members but either way you can’t have that blanket approach towards people. Terrible service. I’ve only had great customer service occasionally from front of house and the sales team when joining. After that they really don’t want to hear from you 2) Be wary of everything you agree to and all the T&Cs there’s a lot of clauses in there that not only make it difficult to leave but may also give them access to your account to take money despite you having no direct debit set up or pre approving the payment. It’s INSANELY invasive they have ANY kind of policy that allows them to do that. Currently looking into this with citizens advice Bearue as I don’t think taking unapproved payments from someone’s account is something they should be allowed to do. The way they’ve termed the permissions to tick to allow them to do that isn’t necessarily phrased in a way you’d initially suspect that’s what they were asking to do either. 3) Be very wary if you ever need to pause your membership because not only will you have to pay like £30pcm while your membership is paused they also add those months back when you want to leave. You have to pause a minimum of two months so they’ll take £60 for that at least then turn your 12 month membership into a 14 month one. Just leaves a very bitter taste forcing people who are ready to move on to be at the gym instead of offering incentives or creating an environment where people would hate to leave. If you get an injury and pause for a couple months you should be allowed to leave in line with the initial term you agreed to. I’ve met so many people in my area who were ONCE at this gym then got fed up. 4) Despite paying premium for a gym there was no incentives or anything offered to people who’s routines were massively disrupted by works going on for months. Not to mention the class timetable is terrible. 5) They want you to pay a child’s membership despite there being next to no classes for new mums or parents with baby’s 0-3. At MOVE another family focused gym, at least they’ve recognised mums are desperate to get out of the house with a workout routine and they made classes to accommodate that without charging ridiculous fees for it. There are just many other family focused gyms out there that are better value for money.

My friend recently started a £200-a-month Diamond Membership at a southern location due to planning a relocation, but Trafford is still his local DL for the moment. Having spoken highly of the chain he convinced me to come and visit using a day pass to see if I wanted to join. Having used a number of the facilities I can honestly say… I don’t get the hype. The gym looked deserted, so did the pools and everything was freezing cold. The outside heated pool wasn’t enough to tackle November temperatures, the inside pool was tepid, and both Sauna and Steam rooms were shut without explanation or notification to regular members. All I heard was talk amongst them of how they’d no idea facilities were closed and their annoyance at no communication. There’s no amenities like flavoured water or electrolyte drinks (which even PureGym include or £20pcm) and nothing special about any of it, really. A complimentary towel is a nice touch, but I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone for the price and won’t be joining DL as a result. Premium prices should include a premium experience and sadly, this isn’t it

Would not recommend. I had been warned that if you encounter any issues the customer service is terrible, and in the years I’ve been a member here with my family I have found it incredibly hard to actually speak to someone from management/sales if you need to and there has been occasions where if you call no one answers. This just seems to be a widely accepted issue. However, I never had any serious reason to complain and so accepted that side of things. My view of the club, from a family perspective: PROS • The gym itself is lovely and the facilities have greatly improved following refurbishment, it really is much nicer and feels more trendy and high end. I wouldn’t have said this before the refurb, so if you haven’t been a member in some time - it is nicer. • Reception staff, cafe staff and kid’s staff are all friendly. • swimming lessons have been great. • The fitness classes offered are good and the cafe is nice. • Holiday club provision • guest passes • kids area with soft play CONS • popular fitness and children’s classes book up very quickly. You have to be on the app ready to book as soon as they are released, this is despite having early access to booking as a platinum member. • other than the crèche and the odd baby activity there are no pregnancy classes or classes for new mums where you can take babies or young children along. • the crèche, tennis, swim lessons, and some of the more engaging children’s classes and holiday clubs are an extra cost. Not necessarily a bad thing but it is worth understanding as it does get more expensive. • parking and Trafford centre traffic can be frustrating. The car park spaces are small and there are limited family spaces…they have taken steps to manage this by introducing family parking passes, however these are often ignored. • calls to reception are often ignored and once you are a member it is very difficult to speak to an actual person regarding membership. • there is a long notice period to leave the club, however this was clearly explained when joining. All in all I did like the gym. HOWEVER, I have recently encountered such poor levels of customer service that I have cancelled my membership. This month they have billed me incorrectly and taken too much money out of my account. Not a huge issue and I expected that it would have been easily rectified and fixed. Unfortunately, I have contacted them via email and phone calls to reception for 6 days and not one member of the team has got back to me. I find this incredibly poor service when they have made an error involving billing. I’m not trying to complain about something mundane, I’m trying to (quite rightly) obtain a swift refund and to be assured that the issue is fixed for next month. Upon emailing them today to cancel my membership I received a reply within hours, so they definitely pick and choose what to respond to and what to ignore. When paying over £300 a month I just expect better and I would rather spend my money somewhere that values it. Whilst the gym still has its positives, from a family perspective, David Lloyd is no longer offering anything unique - local gyms across Trafford have been refurbished and now offer family facilities and classes for a much cheaper price. If you value customer service and expect that the service will reflect the price, this just isn’t the gym for you. I am the third family within my social circle to cancel their membership due to poor service received in general or during the refurb. Do better David Lloyd.

As my preferred gym I've enjoyed going here for the last few years. It's relatively expensive if you only want to go to the gym, however as a health and fitness facility it has a lot to offer families or solo health advocates. The staff are brilliant, helpful and friendly. The facilities are catered to maintain a high class and relaxing, quality experience, from the business suite for working members, to the kids play area for parents that want to train. There's a huge range of classes, PTs to purchase sessions with and studios, the gym, tennis courts, squash courts, swimming pools, and a new Spa being built. This has become part of our family life both for fitness and our children learning sports and staying active.

Been an member for a while and all staff being good and helpful until this morning. I jus want to find out for kids swimming pool alternative and get in to conversation with foul-mouthed short curly ginger hair lad at the desk. I ask other girls at the desk do they allow for such answering back from this guy. I left the place shaking biting my tongue. On the way out I did receive sarcastic "have a lovely day" from him. I'm just speechless, very low manners if not big zero from him. Shocking!!!

I am a member of David Lloyd Trafford, I can't emphasise enough what an incredible health club this is. It is so much more than a gym. The staff from the welcoming receptionists to the cleaners, cafe staff and instructors have time to say hi to everyone and are always approachable and friendly. The choice and standard of classes is fantastic, the facilities are brilliant but it is the people, staff AND members that make it!

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the treatment I have consistently received when visiting David Lloyd Clubs other than my home club. Despite holding a Diamond Membership, I have repeatedly been given the worst towels when visiting other locations. This pattern of treatment persisted throughout my membership, regardless of my status as a Diamond Member, which I found both disrespectful and insulting. It is my expectation that all members, regardless of their membership level or the club they are visiting, should be treated with the same level of respect and dignity. Unfortunately, my experiences have consistently contradicted this. When handed an inferior towel, I have often requested a better one, but this ongoing issue made Me not request for a better one today but left me with little choice but leave this review on feed back and post google review too.

Disappointed to see members appear to no longer be cleaning equipment down after use and selfish practices appear to be on the increase with members 'reserving' equipment by placing towels and water bottles on equipment while using different elsewhere in gym.

I recently joined David Lloyd Gym and have been thoroughly impressed with my experience. Since my first visit on Monday, I've been attending daily and have greatly enjoyed the wide range of facilities. The gym itself is well-equipped with modern machines, and I've particularly enjoyed using the treadmill. The sauna is a fantastic way to unwind after a workout, and the morning yoga class I attended was both relaxing and invigorating. Before joining, Cat gave us a tour of the gym, answering every question we had. She was incredibly helpful and friendly, making the decision to join much easier. The cleanliness and modernity of the facilities are outstanding. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, making it a pleasant place to work out. The staff are exceptional, always going the extra mile to ensure a great experience. Special mention to Callum and Joey at the café, who have provided excellent service. Another highlight has been the opportunity for my wife and me to have breakfast together at the gym before work. It's a perfect way to start the day, combining fitness and quality time. I highly recommend joining David Lloyd Gym. With its comprehensive facilities and outstanding service, it caters to all your fitness and relaxation needs.
