Old Hall in Trafford

We were a table of 12 with a late afternoon booking on a Sunday. We did book in advance and were placed in a quiet part of the pub away from the main bar area. This was great as the children could be themselves and we were not going to disrupt other guests. We were told upon booking that, due to the large table number, we may not be able to have our food served at the same time and that there may be a slight delay for other dishes. This honestly was appreciated so we knew exactly what to expect and in reality I think everyone had their meals within 3-4 minutes which was a fantastic response. The bar staff were great, very helpful and friendly and full of smiles. Similarly for the serving staff who were attentive to our needs but not overbearing either. The price of the children’s desserts and the serving sizes were incredible value for money, I think we paid £1.29 for a two scoop ice cream sundae which all the children devoured. In actual fact, the whole menu was very favourably placed and very good value for money. My only criticism would be of the beef chilli as there was a disproportionately small amount of chilli to the amount of rice served however the flavour of the chilli was great - there just needed to be more of it to enjoy! Overall, a fantastic meal enjoyed by children ages 2 to adults aged over 80. We all had lovely food at great value and were served brilliantly by Lucy, Tom, Scott and Izzy. Thank you all.

Had a meal here with my partner, food was excellent and our server Rachel couldn’t do enough to help. Would recommend to anyone.

Came in for a pint with a few mates to watch the rugby and was served by Tom at the bar who provided excellent service. It was a great atmosphere.

Went out for some food in the beer garden, the Lasagne was so nice and my husbands mega mixed grill was so good. Staff were perfect want to say thanks to Tom and Rachel for the excellent service. Only very minor issue was the tables in the beer garden were everywhere but apart from that was perfect and hope to be back!!

Great spot to come to after a game of golf to finish off with some food and drinks. We had Tom + Scott + Izzy as our bartenders and were as fantastic as can be.

Had a couple of drinks in the beer garden, it was lovely in the sun. Just wanted to say thank you to Tom for his excellent service and hope his politics degree goes well!

So sad to see the demise of a once great venue been coming on and off for 40 years but tonight was appalling, Menu was only 15% available , supposedly had a kitchen fire ,once again , a regular event , surely needs looking into , a poor excuse , food that was available was minute child like portion sizes definitely not worth the high prices , we as a table spent around £150 for awful food and certainly won't advise anyone to entertain eating here and to sum up the unprofessional staff , the manager was walking around in flip flops and jogger bottoms covered in paint and looked completely disinterested in her customers as we continued to ask staff politely to put right all the mistakes with our food orders , something very very wrong with this whole place , we won't return again until management change as its dreadful beyond words I don't see how the brewery can allow this to continue.

We called in last night for food and drinks. It was busy but the staff were coping well.We ordered our food . My cowboy burger was ok ,however my partner’s sirloin was very poor .It was all tough gristle ,could not eat any of it .

This is a tricky review to write. My partner and I have been customers of the old hall for almost 30 years. We have seen it at it's best and it's worst. We were so keen to try it because it was under new management. I know that the new manager has had a lot to contend with and this includes deep cleaning, fixing broken things etc. Unfortunately, the food was way below acceptable. We aired our views and got a refund for the food. We didn't want a refund, even though this was the decent thing to do. We wanted to enjoy the meal that we came for. It was low quality, dry and extremely disappointing. The staff ,one particular lady was absolutely run off her feet to say the least!!! Leaving one person serving at the bar and the queue was ridiculous! The outside is still full of litter and feels grotty. Again, I know that a lot needs fixing here due to previous ownership. I think that the community and DEFINITELY including myself would love this place to work. Maybe involve the community to help to spruce it up, again I will be willing to help. The driveway, the setting and the building are beautiful. I genuinely wish you lots of luck to turn this place around. At the moment, it is not meeting people's expectations.

There was no steak, no roast dinner no hot dogs. Didn’t even have blackcurrant cordial. Ordered bbq pulled pork and they forgot the sauce sent it back and it came with sauce and garnish. Food felt like chef Mic was all over it. If you want a microwave meal just go to Tesco and you can get what you want. Other supermarkets are available

Our third visit here, every time, excellent food, staff lovely and friendly, service really good, the meals are well presented and tasty today's was a mixed Donna Kebab and fries followed by a trifle cheesecake and coffee.each course was enjoyable, since the first visit the Old Hall is a great find.

Used The Old Hall for my daughters after Daniel reached out on one of the Facebook groups to offer help due to our original venue being flooded. He was really helpful and accommodating to ensure our needs were met. The setting was beautiful, there was a separate area for the children’s entertainment and the adults to converse and have a drink, the room hire was free and the catering very reasonable. We will definitely be using this venue again in the future.

Absolutely fantastic place to go to. The food was beautiful, service was 2nd to none, very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Great burgers with flame grill flavour, good value too. Decent merlot, also good value. Friendly staff throughout. Dogs are welcome.

We were looking for somewhere family friendly for lunch and saw the Old Hall had some good reviews. What a let down though. The staff were moody and unhelpful, food bland and overpriced, and nothing for children to do. We were also told the children were to stay at the table even though the place was empty...not very family friendly as advertised. This place has a lot of potential but unfortunately we won't be going back.

We went on Christmas Day and it was fabulous! Well organised, great atmosphere, staff customer service outstanding and good value for money. We couldn’t fault it from start to finish. We will be booking again for this year, we went there today for steak and drink offer on a Thursday, again great service and the food was lovely! This is one of the best run pubs around here

A lovely place to eat and have a good time

I visit The Oldhall often as it’s close to where I live. I’m always welcomed with a smile and the service is great. Dan, the manager, always ensure I’ve got a table to watch the football and Lauren is a great asset aswell. I would recommend to go for food or for a relaxing drink!

I have been for a meal tonight at the Old Hall for my son’s Birthday. We all had a wonderful time and the food was delicious. All the starters came out on time and were all lovely and hot. The main course was all cooked to perfection. We didn’t have a long wait for our food. The staff were all friendly. We have been coming to the Old Hall for years and it’s still our favourite place to eat.

Go in this pub often with the family for food and drinks it has a lovely friendly atmosphere, lovely food and also staff can't go wrong.

Went for Christmas evening meal in a group. Put completely away from the choir and entertainment. Gravy served in plastic measuring jugs.

The Old Hall is connected to Altrincham golf club. The new owner, Dan, is doing an amazing job at making it a lovely, friendly atmosphere with great food. We were a group of eight women having the festive meal, which was very tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was also amazing. Dan was very attentive, and so was our waitress, Lucy, who couldn't do enough for us. This will be our new meeting place. Dan, we WILL be back.

Worst roast dinner I’ve ever had in my life, with rude staff to top it off. Please don’t come here. We sent the food back once as the food was stale and gravy hardened. When we got a new meal the veg was freezing and the meat was horrendous. Staff didn’t give us sauces we asked for, and were argumentative to us when we said how bad it was. Would not eat it for free let alone for the money we paid.

Me and my friend had a meal here couple of weeks ago. And she had very bad food poisoning she wasnt sure if it was the prawns or the rice but she was very very Ill. My food was ok, nice . Overall just ok. Pictures on your advertising flyers are not exact to whats on your plate. But have to say its just ok sorry.

Didn't order food, however I wish they would clean to toilets properly it smells in the pub area from the men's toilets of urine as the smell puts me of ordering food, it's a Shame as it has great potential. As per my previous review the owner replied that they don't prepare food in the toilets. I'm well aware of this but smell of old wee doesn't get your apetite going.

Went for a bite to eat and ended up having starters & mains. Service was great, 2 ladies on and having great laughs with the customers. This didn't detract from the service we received.

Lovely staff, pricey drink, awful food. Fish n chips was mainly batter with a few chips - mushy peas ok. Good parking.

This pub restaurant is a real gem. Set far back from the road making it perfect for a drinks and food outside overlooking the golf course. It's one we visit often due to it's location, the lovely setting, large comfortable outside seating areas, the welcoming staff, music, to watch football and for food and drink. We had another delicious meal there on Sunday. I went for the veggie burger, a firm favourite of mine. My better half had the ultimate chicken burger. Staff are friendly and work hard. Both meals were delicious and filling. I highly recommend The Old Hall, Timperley.

Best piece of beef I have had in a long time. If you must use frozen roast potatoes you need ones that don't go to mush. The rest of the meal was tasty and hot which other restaurants should consider an essential.

Have visited The Old Hall a few times over the summer as there are lots of outdoor tables with views over the golf course. The food has been consistently good with generous portions. On our last visit we had the fish and chips and the chicken kebab. Both meals really tasty and good value for money. Will definitely be revisiting

Old Hall Pub has quickly become my favorite spot! The perfect blend of amazing ambiance, delicious food, and great drinks makes every visit special. It's rare to find all three in one place, but Old Hall delivers on every front. Whether you're coming for a meal or just to relax, this place has it all. The only thing I’d love to see improved is the kitchen hours. Closing at 9 pm feels a bit early, especially for those of us who like to stay longer and enjoy a relaxed evening of food and conversation. Our friends' group loves spending time here, and we would love to enjoy the food a little later into the night. Overall, still an amazing spot!

Had a few drinks before ordering lunch, when I tried to order food was told that the kitchen was closed from 3 until 4pm, which wasn't a problem. When we did order food it came quite quickly and was enjoyable and very filling.

So weve been going here for years dan is lovely landlord so nice and polite best about when we first arrived last Thursday dan was there nice welcome sat down then dan left as soon as he left lucy disappeared no where to be seen and all staff went missing me and the wife had to wait for ages for any staff to reappear to order our food, when we did no menu was on the table when asked where they was finally it was rudely applied over there were oldies and dan has always got the menu, lucy then said half way through order her dog was barking and shell be back, once food come we had no cultery so asked and was told to get it ourself whilst our food was going cold me and my wife had difficulty walking, we complained and was told sorry the assistant manager dog is barking in her flat upstairs someone complained so she needs to sort that first we love the old hall and its a shame to watch the staff to let it go down hill when the manager dan is not there

Myself and a few friends called in for drinks. Not being from the local area we were a little unsure of where to go but I must say what a great find with the Old Hall!! . We were made to feel so welcome from the minute we walked in by both the staff and other customers , the service was great, it had such a lovely atmosphere. Although we didn’t eat we did see the food passing on route to other tables and it looked really good so we will definitely be returning to give it a try!

I've been coming in the Old Hall for years..Since Dan has taken it over it really has gone to another level! Great beer selections. The staff are all super friendly. Good quality pub grub at reasonable prices.The atmosphere here for the Euros 2024 for the England games was truly magnificent! Packed to the rafters and no trouble at all in here unlike a certain pub in Timperley. DJ Norman got the place rocking before and after the games. Well done Dan keep up the great work.

We tend to frequent The Old Hall usually once a month .I go with my daughter and my Dad who finds it a little easier to access than other places with his walker .Staff are always very friendly, particularly Issie and Lucy .Food is tasty and they always do their best with requests .We are always asked about any allergies.

Generally a nice pub, lots of atmosphere, prefer thus pub in the evening when it's quiet. Otherwise, kids running around, loud and swearing, which is not my kind of atmosphere. I will say, I left my iPad on the bar or table, and the staff were kind enough to keep it safe until the next morning. Very relieved and super thankful.

Fantastic pub - great value for money, friendly faces behind the bar, and a massive beer garden that is ideal for the summer. Been bringing my daughter to the pub for years and its a fantastic place for families.

Food was awful. Club sandwich only had two small pieces of chicken and one piece of bacon. Waited 45 minutes and when I came out it was cold

Lovely food & staff except for one member of staff, brunette girl (think she’s a manager) who’s on a power trip who makes her own rules up as she goes, drops food with no apology & clearly hates her job. Needs addressing as I’ve been coming with my family for years and have now been put off, especially when she’s shouting at her own members of staff infront of customer.

Food was surprisingly good since the last one visiting.

Visited 2 years ago and really enjoyed. Visited again 2weeks ago. Outside seating area was not tidy. Ashtrays on every table full of cigarette dimps and rain water. A plant pot outside main entrance full of empty cigarette packets and dimps. Empty glasses on tables and chairs not put back both outdoors and indoors. Upholstered large chair inside has crumbs and crisps down the joints in seating.

Food was pretty poor. Basics like scampi and chips were ok. One person in our group got a garlic bread which was soggy and had the smell of fish. Prices are cheap relative to the local area but good quality reflects this. We visited on 14th May 2024.

Meal out with friends, unfortunately the kitchen closes at 8pm so we booked for 7pm. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Only one member of staff was friendly. The food was good and we had a nice time.

Food was lacklustre. Service was adequate, but the servers were very miserable. The atmosphere was a bit Wetherspoony.
