This place has gone downhill rapidly, we (was) regulars to this pub, not anymore as itâs over run by dogs! And dog owners who let their dogs lick tables that are supposed to have food served them. The interior is terrible and tables are now all stick and furniture is older than my Nan ! This should be known as the âdog cafe. It isnât clean & is in need of a good re-vamp. Shocking is putting it politely!

Birthday celebration for my mums 80th, we booked this visit back in beginning of October after making a call to the venue and being told that our table of 19 would easily be accommodated. What a disappointment on arrival instead of being sat together we were given two tables each side off double doors leading to the bar. To say my mum was disappointed was an understatement. No amount of pleading with the manager to sort it out would work snd the manageress quite honestly didnât give a toss. The bar was understaffed and getting drinks was a long wait , the food was appalling with five mains sent back because they were so cold and the supposed trio of desserts was some terrible little plastic tubs of unknown substance and cheap cake it looked like they had raided the sales section at Tesco served on a tacky tray in the middle of the table. Overall very underwhelming and a disappointing night . I would say avoid and look elsewhere.

First thing - empty at least 7 mixed tables free THIS WAS Empty AT LIKE 945 AM , Staff looked down their nose as if we knew they were FULL! Then said after being approached- we are full , never even asked what we wanted - and that would have been what 15 minute drink? We had no wish to eat I am shocked in attitude and ethos of the place - would not be willing to recommend or re visit

Arrived after having a year away to find no tea room and part of the shop (next to the actual water wheel). This is such a shame but I suppose its probably due to visitor numbers falling as nowhere to have a cuppa & snack although there are nearby alternatives that are comparable to what were the high prices. The remaining shop stock has stayed the same items of clothing and tourist pieces. Could do with a revamp, new stock items to breath fresh air into it. Other than that staff friendly as usual.

Another let down âŚ. Iâve always had great food from here but the problem I have had in my last 2 attempts at getting food is crazy âŚ. First a few weeks ago I queued up for 20 mins then when I got to the counter and asked for just 1 cheese sandwich was told 40 mins wait !!!! So I didnât bother âŚ. Now today after spending 6 hours decorating a beach hut I decided at midday to go and order some food⌠brilliant no queue only to be told that the cook / chef was going out for 15/20 mins !!!!! Turning around to see him put his coat on and leave ⌠at lunch time REALLY .. we have sent literally dozens of customers your way from our beach hut rentals and all of them have said what a great little cafe we have left your menus in our huts for the customers to look at ect .. unfortunately we have again been let down and found myself driving to Tesco to get lunch âŚ. To save us from any negative feedback we are removing the menus from the huts in case something similar happens to our customersâŚ

Popped in here for a bite to eat. Have been once before. Staff are very friendly, hard working and kind. Very full menu. We ordered brunch and the presentation was excellent, food delicious, nothing left on plate. Very busy place, not surprised. Ate outside as it was such a pleasant day.

Whenever I find myself in Newark this is the place to stay, close enough to the center and has ample parking. Rooms are clean and warm, the staff always make you feel welcome

Didn't let us in because we were with my 13 year old cousin, visiting from Texas, on New Year's Eve - because of a completely-arbitrary no under 18s rule. Absolutely appalling service. It was perfectly obvious he wasn't going to drink any alcohol. Your pub ruined my aunt, uncle and cousins' visit from Texas and ruined our pub crawl round our home town. Pubs in London did not restrict access in the same way. Shame on you.
