A very sparce vegetarian menu but chose the celeriac steak at £18. I could hardly cut through a thick wedge of celeriac which was so so tough

Following our mid-week visit to the Plough, see review (terryat808) Sunday lunch certainly didn’t disappoint. Portions were generous, nice hot plates and served in good time by lovely Meg and Ruby who were so polite and helpful. So, all in all we can’t fault the Plough, we are officially now regulars.

We hadn't been to the Plough for around twenty years so time to visit again. Mid week lunch was well presented and reasonable. My sea bass was so tasty and the chef had it spot on, thanks chef. Small down side, fish mongers apprentice must have done the filleting, there were 10 / 12 bones that you wouldn't want to swallow. Jennie was good fun and professional. We must have been impressed as we are heading back today for Sunday lunch.... watch this space.

Our normal Sunday roast spot a couple of miles away was fully booked so I booked into the Plough. The pub had a great ambience and the landlady was lovely. Really friendly and funny. The roast was superb (and I am really fussy). Just the right amount, delicious meat, great roast potatoes and yorkshires and an absolutely fabulous selection of at at least 6 if not more vegetables. Despite it being a busy lunchtime we only waited 10 minutes for our food. Really impressed. Thank you everyone at The Plough

We enjoyed an early supper before attending a show. The food was delicious especially the fish special. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. We were welcomed by one young lady who seated us then explained she was going off shift but her colleague would be over to look after us. That duly happened and we felt very well looked after.

The plough Inn is a lovely old pub in the middle of Henfield Village. On the day we visited, with my Aunt, it was quite quiet, but the staff were all friendly and attentive. There was a wide selection for lunch, although we were slightly disappointed that the specials board, prominently displayed, was not available for lunch. Nevertheless the selections we did make - my aunt had sea bass with new potatoes and I had spaghetti marinares- were absolutely delicious! My aunt commented that she had never had tastier potatoes. We shall certainly return, maybe in the evening so we can have something from the specials board!

We called in for a few drinks and a light lunch on a very warm Sunday. Good choice of real ales and a wide selection of white wines suited us very well. For lunch we tried the king prawns and a hummus & olives dish - both were outstandingly good. Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere completed a very enjoyable lunch.

My husband and I both ordered the steak that came with chips, mushrooms and tomatoes. When it came out it had salad and ratatouille!!! I'm not a salad person and hate ratatouille. When I asked about it, was told chef has run out of mushrooms and tomatoes, I was going to eat the steak but it was very tough, so changed my meal. We ate our meals separately and no discount for a ruined afternoon.

WORST ROAST IVE EVER HAD. 2 small “roast” potato’s not substantial. More like deep fried baby potato’s. There was nothing about the potato’s that screamed roast potato. Me and my boyfriend ordered a side of extra veg for our roasts. In the side of veg that comes with the roast and extra side of veg was just enough for two of us. In each veg bowl was one piece of broccoli so if we hadn’t of ordered the extra veg only one of us would of been able to have broccoli. There was a teaspoon of swede in each bowl of veg. All in all expensive for small roasts. Chocolate fudge cake was clearly bought in. Wouldn’t recommend this place atall…

Had a lovely meal out on a Tuesday evening. All four of us agreed it was probably the best meal out we have ever had. The food had such lovely flavour and the portions were of a decent size. We visited today, we had a lovely roast. Paid £30 for 2 roast dinners and we're served less than a table spoon of cauliflower cheese each. We asked for some more as the portion was very stingy and then was charged £5 for an extra portion. When we queried the bill the staff member said that's how the new chef does it and slaps a tiny bit on and that was that. We also tried to go for lunch yesterday here as it was advertised open 12-4 to be told the chef was just on his way out just before 3. Unfortunately, I will not be returning or recommending. The staff were friendly, shame about the chef...

Friendly service , lovely food. Only downside is that every table in the courtyard garden has an ashtray and although there were only four parties in the garden two were smoking which was unpleasant for us being non smokers. Ashtrays at the top end only would help. Dog friendly. Reasonably priced. Ciabattas come with chips rather than a few lettuce leaves.

My friend and I stopped in for an evening drink when she was visiting in Henfield and we had a warm welcome. The chap behind the bar recommended us some gins and even gave us a complimentary double (well received, don't get out much now due to toddler!). We stayed for a few more! Though it was quiet for a Friday evening, the ambience was nice and cosy, with the lovely lights and traditional decor. I would like to try the roast one day, but I never seem to book in time! When it arrived it was with chips, but I quite like chips so I didn’t worry. Chips were really hot on the outside but a little under done and firm in the middle so I missed the mash I had ordered. The pie was a little dark on top which made it taste a touch bitter but was filling was quite tasty. The gravy was rich and very tasty. The Plough is a lovely, cosy pub situated on Henfield High Street in the heart of the Village. The staff are welcoming and friendly and take time to get to know people, so there's always a decent buzz about the place no matter how many people are in. The Pie and Mash menu is a nice point of difference to other pubs in the area, it's supported by a decent pub menu if pies aren't your thing, and there are roasts on a Sunday. Living in Henfield, it's also great to have a place where I can get a Vegan option for food and drink, which can be hard to find outside of the bigger towns in Sussex. Tofu and Spinach Pie or a Vegan Nut Roast on a Sunday, washed down with a Vegan Craft Ale keep me happy. The Real Ales are kept very well too, that along with the log fires for winter, the beer garden for summer and the friendly atmosphere make it an excellent place to visit.

Had pie and chips in The Plough. The fat chips were excellent, can't rate them highly enough. Nice pub, nice staff and nice surroundings. Will be going again soon.

Thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch last week. I had the mushroom, spinach and blue cheese wellington and my husband had the vegan roast. Both were very good, and generous portions. More vegetables on the plate than when we first came, which was welcome. We only had room after this to share one of their banoffee pie desserts, one of the few I have tried that tastes like the one that I used to make from the Hungry Monk receipe - the original home of the banoffee pie.

Absolutely fab, very friendly pub, good beer and excellent service from all staff, first time used for lunch. Service very good, good for vegans ,veggies and meat eaters. When food came it looked great and tasted great, thought could do with more veg but being fair we were full up so they got it right. Best SUNDAY lunch for a long time, try it!

We stayed in Henfield 2 nights and drank in The Plough both evenings. Very popular pub with locals who made outsiders feel welcome. Dog friendly which was nice especially as there was a 10 week old pup in there.

Good food and service at the right price. Might be best to book a table on Saturdays although they did manage to squeeze us in without a reservation.

Warm and friendly staff, great setting with lovely beer garden and children's play area. Our favourite pub in steyning

Nice enough pub, with a reasonable drinks selection and friendly staff. We visited for a family lunch (on recommendation) and the place is very geared up for food. However, the food is absolutely dreadful: over cooked, bland and (in the case of the bao buns that I had) inedibly dry. Seems very popular, for reasons unknown to this visitor.

We ordered breakfast at out table and it was delivered quickly with every detail perfectly executed. The food was hot and fresh and really tasty. The drinks were also perfect. I paid what I thought was a fair price and will definitely be returning. You’ll go a long way to find better food in Horsham.

Unfortunately we felt on this occasion the food really was not up to the usual standard - whitebait over cooked - chips not their usual crispy delicious standard - but everyone has an off day and we said it would not deter us from returning HOWEVER we found out as we were leaving that after 14 years of trading the Orchard is due to close at the end of September 😔 So sad as , as a family some who are no longer with us it was always are “go to” place for a good quality home cooked meal . So what ever the owners plans are for the future we wish them good luck 😋
