Waited for 10 minutes indoors to be seated only for someone to finally come over to tell us and the couple of people queued infront of us (most of whom were very elderly and frail) to wait outside in the cold instead. Based on this customer service and asking people in their 80s+ to wait outside in winter, we turned around and left.

This was The Grill at Overton Farm snack van We go there regularly - 2 weeks ago our order was just over £10- this week the same order was over£13 - around 30% increase seems excessive No problem with the quality or the service and we use the Farm Shop each visit but questionable whether we will go back as often

Terrible place. Mostly under construction or covered in scaffolding. Visited the cafe with a small dog, ordered and ate outside when we were waiting to leave a woman rushed out "you can't be here with the dog". i replied, that's funny because you served us food and took our money. Two members of your staff saw we had a dog, and never mentioned anything. "yeah, we don't allow them at all". Wouldn't recommend. total dive.

With a voucher snd telling my guest what a treat was in store we committed the offence of carrying a chihuahua indoors to ask if we would sit indoors or put, as no staff around d at seating queue to ask, the rudeness of response was hard to believe .. sn unpleasant and embarrassing experience which, as a firmer quieter times frequent customer, will never ever be repeated. Snd the voucher? They can stuff it

Attended with a family of six this afternoon for some lunch. * Drinks order arrived at table, two drinks were not what we asked for so sent back. * Mac & Cheese arrived, VERY poorly presented and appeared to be a kids potion. * Few of our group ordered chips and all were hard to the bite and very dark coloured so undercooked and dirty oil by look of it. * VERY expensive for the food quality and presentation. * Some staff didn’t appear to grasp English very well which I believe was the error in drinks order. Unfortunately won’t be returning for food and instead visiting Gouldings across the road which has much better presentation and slightly lower prices.

Family visit on the last August Bank Holiday Monday - eight family members, mostly soup and sandwich combos. Two Mac / cheese one with chips the other Garlic Bread. Where to start, cold soup, and unbelievably cheap and nasty wafer thin white soggy bread, why not proper bloomer type sandwiches, please remember that these weren’t inexpensive. The Mac cheese options were of even poorer quality, one tiny spoonful of Mac cheese, which was almost like tinned Mac cheese ? and two tiny pieces of cheap lightly toasted crusty bread. The with chips option had the same extremely poor Mac cheese, presented dreadfully on a large pasta bowl, with very poorly cooked frozen skin on fries, not crispy and dry but floppy undercooked chips which were inedible. I have reviewed the oven previously, and decided to try again……. but that was a huge mistake, they so badly need to up their game, I find it incredible that it appears to be a popular option as it seems to be always busy as I drive past, given I live relatively local. Just an aside - our waitress I have to say wasn’t exactly the most welcoming either. Very very poor, and felt ripped off in the extreme, definitely won’t be back !

I visit The Oven frequently. Today my husband and I went for lunch, as I had a half day from work & thought it would be a treat for us. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, never an issue as we know it’s a busy place. We were seated and menus handed over. It went downhill from there. I ordered a soup & sandwich combo, asking for lentil soup and a tuna & cheese melt. I asked for chips in place of the salad. Husband asked for soup too plus French toast. The poor girl serving was struggling to understand- turns out she was new to the job & English wasn’t her first language. We tried to point to what we wanted. She then came back 5 minutes later and said there was no lentil soup left, so we changed our order to tomato & basil. Away she went again. After another 10-15 minutes another waitress came, apologised and advised the girl struggles to understand English (?). She handed us what appeared to be a half bowl of soup. I reminded her we’d asked for water, which she brought with my ‘toastie’. No chips, just salad. Husband didn’t even get bread with his soup, which on a ‘non-combo’ deal he should have. I advised her we hadn’t had a full bowl of soup, she said ‘but that’s the last of it’ (??) I asked for this to be reflected in the bill. By this time I’d had enough, and although she offered to get chips we had waited ages, so I declined. I then found my ‘tuna cheese melt’ was some soggy toast, some very dry tuna mayo and no cheese at all. I handed it back. Now, we got many apologies from other staff. They tried not to charge me, but I insisted on paying for my husband’s French toast. They offered tea/coffee and cakes for free. However, I just wanted to go home. The apologies kept coming but 1) ‘Everyone has to start somewhere and 2) She doesn’t speak English very well does not excuse putting this poor girl to work on tables when she was clearly struggling. She should have also not been put to work when the restaurant was at its busiest. Bottom line- we will not be back. Sorely disappointed.

Visited here as a family after attending nearby winter wonderland with my toddler and his grans… was busy and had to wait for a table. Whilst waiting my mum and 2 year old were abruptly told to move from where they were standing as it ‘blocked the waitresses’ - I think the woman was under pressure as it seemed short staffed but really made us feel unwelcome. When we got a table it was nice and at the window. Ordered food, whilst waiting had to change order as they ran out. Food arrived, cream of veg soup was a broth, Christmas panini was cold and the rest was really average. Had to chase our tea as they forgot to bring it. Overall was really disappointed with visit, maybe just an off day but will prob stick to other nearby places next time.

We visited The Oven at Overton Farm as we were cruising around South Lanarkshire and needed lunch. The place was busy around 12.30 and a queue had formed with everybody observing the two metre rule. The staff were also controlling entry, so kudos for that. The restaurant was very busy, but there was definitely spacing between the tables and spaced out areas where people could walk past each other at a safeish distance.I ordered a jacket potato with cheese and a latte for myself. The potato was well cooked with an edible skin, which is how I like it. The cheddar was younger than I prefer, but it still went well with the potato. The coffee was excellent, freshly ground and pungent. Even with two sugars, the coffee still had an excellent aroma and taste.

I have been a few times, working my way down the menu which has different offerings to your normal Clyde Valley restaurants. The food is great and the cakes, ohh the cakes I introduced a friend who has some tummy issues and she thoroughly enjoyed her “all day breakfast” with tweaks. Nothing is too much bother and changes are happily made. I had the Overton Eggs Balmoral which consisted of haggis topped with 2 poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on a toasted soda scone. Delicious. I have had the Benedict version plus the deli platters and non disappointed. We then indulged ourselves with a cake or in my case 3 baby ones. Not needed of course but, hey, we were enjoying ourselves Definitely recommend this restaurant

Spotted Overton from the road and noted the monthly car boot sale held here. Plenty of parking and a shop as well with fruit, veg, etc. The restaurant is fairly new and spacious but cluttered and with quite a few 'sharing' tables. It is table service and if you miss the small sign the queue for paying will confuse you as will the tables with a single person looking guilty - we were not the only ones to miss the sign.

We have been in this restaurant before but only for coffee and a snack. However on this visit with my husband we each decided on a 5 item breakfast. As the menu showed sausage etc we chose 5 items, including sausage (2 for my husband) Imagine my husbands shock when the plates arrived and both had lorne sausage, (he doesn't like or eat lorne sausage), I ended up taking his 2 pieces of lorne sausage and giving him other items from my breakfast which really made the meal a bit disappointing. When our order was taken we were asked if we wanted white or brown toast, surely we should have been asked if we wanted lorne or link sausage or have the choice printed on the menu. While I have no complaints about the quality of the food or service we feel that the items on the breakfast menu should be made clearer.

We were all satisfied with our selection from a comprehensive menu not huge but well thought out. We did all agree that chips were overdone I would suggest turning the fryer down a bit and cook for longer then they won't be as dark. Nice selection of teas and coffee and they offer to have it along with your meal which is nice although when our meal arrived this had been forgotten along with my tarter sauce, they weren't too busy just someone being dozy.

Tables were left uncleared so people were waiting to sit, and it took a long time to get menus, order and get the food. Popped in for breakfast, great choices, all cooked fresh, washed down with fresh tea. The Oven is spotlessly clean, ample parking, outdoor seating if that's what you want. Spacious inside. Be aware can get busy, though the staff do work hard to keep up.

I’ve just read the 3 “Terrible” reviews for The Oven and simply don’t recognise the place. There are 3 Clyde Valley cafes that we visit regularly and this is the best. Pleasant, tasteful surroundings, good staff, some very good food. Cheese scones are excellent, very good range of bakes (lovely Orange Drizzle yesterday), Eggs Balmoral is delicious - and the farm shop is always worth a visit. This is a quality establishment.

Food consistently good and locally sourced - baking a speciality ! Lovely family atmosphere with secure childrens' outdoor play area at rear. Friendly staff . Also has a little gift corner with quality local crafts, jewellery, cards etc.

Popped in for lunch , great ! Home made soup, home made steak, pie( only fault - pastry never met the stew until it met on the plate. But that is a personal preference ) . Both excellent . Washed down with real loose tea. Fantastic !

Myself, my husband and 2 kids have just left this place. We went in to get a late lunch but upon entering got the feeling that we were intruding. It doesn’t shut until 4 today (we arrived at 2.45) but we got the impression that the way staff were all standing around idle (around 8 of them) that they had cleared up early and were waiting to go home. When we walked in they obviously weren’t happy! You could’ve cut the atmosphere with a knife! Such a frosty reception. Walked out and will not be back!

Lovely food. The quality of the food here is outstanding (a visit to the farm shop for eggs and meat is a must!) and the dishes are tasty and satisfying.

Light open venue with rather hard seating. Staff quite friendly, baking and prices reasonable. Good car parking facilities.

Stopped off here for lunch today. Mum had steak pie, at this point, I would commend this establishment for using...

I'm not usually a complainer and this is actually my first on trip advisor but I was so disappointed with my lunch today that I actually could not believe that I was charged £13.00 for a fish and chips and a cappuccino that was literally not for human consumption. Don't mind paying £13.00 as that's the norm for eating out but it was well below average. The fish was burned to the crisp and your chips were as hard as a rock obviously straight from the freezer onto the frier . What a shame as this is in Clyde valley a place me and my family visit so often. You obviously have cooking issues . The girl that took my order was very pleasant so it's definitely not the service but you have a long way to go when it comes to presenting a well cooked meal and charging customers high prices . You need a chef that's all I'm saying your current one is not up to the job . You have a great spot down Clyde valley make it work . Might visit again if I'm assured you've changed your chef

This is a really great facility opened about three years now. Not jam-packed for covers, So, there is space for wheelchairs and the staff are supportive of those with learning difficulties, which is nice to see. can get noisy when busy, but always clean when I have been there (even on a busy Saturday shift). Car park is mostly full now.

Pleasant surroundings...staff polite ..I chose crispy mozzarella with spicy sauce..wasn't keen on the mozzarella..a bit chewy..but the sauce was great...main was the korean chicken with kimchi....chicken was tasty..1st time korean chicken .. expected to be some spice ..if that is how it is supposed to be ..tasty...the kimchi was one of the better ones I have tasted....definitely would return to sample more of their fayre. Food is very well presented. Great I can also bring my dog 🐕.
