Lovely lunch with great service and excellent choice of drinks. Love that we can take our dog in one part of the bar. Everywhere was extremely clean.

Not the best to start what missarebel staff especially the young girls no smile no manners either good choice on menu but poor meals adults meal like a kids portion mash was very bland also apple crumble no taste won’t be visiting again especially with the staff poor customer service

Booked a reservation for here a little early, we were seated straight away with a drinks order being taken too Came to try their Sunday lunch so I had a large lamb at a reasonable £13 and my husband had the trio of meats at a great price of £14 which consisted of lamb beef and turkey Came wishing 5 minutes along with bowl of vegetables for each of us There was 2 Yorkshire puddings which were beautiful 🤩 the meats were all of generous portions along with mash and roast potatoes the vegetables were carrots cabbage and broccoli It was all amazing we both just managed to finish our dishes The pub itself is very lovely inside the atmosphere is chilled and laid back the staff were smiling and very friendly We will definitely recommend these to friends and family

Very nice Sunday dinner served on a plate not all you can eat buffet. The food was very warm veg came separate dishes and gravy. Vegetarian Sunday dinner choice which was sweet potato and mushroom pie, very nice though.

Popped in on the off chance for tea on a Thursday evening. Wasn’t overly busy but a few tables in so atmosphere was fine. Friendly staff. In current climate it’s understandable that midweek there’s few places that will be mega busy. Husband ordered the Cajun chicken rib combo, I had a bbq chicken special. Food was really good… not microwaved frozen food as mentioned in the previous review. It was cooked to perfection and I’m really chicken fussy! It was stuffed with a baby pepper and cream cheese…. Delicious!! Haven’t left a review before cos I’m rubbish at remembering to but having had a few meals here ( the chicken supreme which is often on the special board being one of my usual favourites) I have to say its really good. Yeah it’s not cheap… but it’s not expensive either. A good all rounder. Will definitely be back!!

Quick lunch with a couple of work colleagues. They were visiting me and are unfamiliar with the area so I chose the Harvey Arms for lunch. Two of us had a brie baguette and the other a sausage baguette and we were very pleased with our choices. The food was delicious and came with a little side salad and garnish. At £9 each they were a good price too. Thanks chef.

Thought we would try it as local to where we live, on entering the pub was quite and no atmosphere and the staff where obviously busy (not). Went to the bar and asked for 2 drinks a Carling ( came in the incorrect glass ) and a coffee, the Carling was ok but had a strange after taste, the coffee was in a glass which my partner found difficult to hold as having nails on like most women. We ordered Scampi & beer battered Fish n Chips. The Scampi was ok but obviously bought in and the Fish was tasteless and had no texture at all. The chips on both dishes where obviously frozen and dipped in a fryer with no example of trying to cook from fresh. The meal it self was not great and would not go back again. On the website it says Chef has 20 years experience but in my opinion they need to get another 20 years as had better food at a holiday camp site than at a pub who makes out it is quality cooking. On a whole Chef stop walking around in your whites obviously bought on Ebay and learn how to serve proper pub food and as for the cost, not seeing that back in the account again over priced crap

We'd booked a table for 5 today. 3 ordered pasta (one a gluten free option as one member had specific dietary requirements and gluten free was advertised on menu) we were therefore disappointed as when we were told they didn't have any gluten free pasta. When the orders arrived they brought only one adult portion and one child's portion of pasta. Not sure how they managed but they'd totally forgotten one of the pasta meals. We were told this would take a further 15 minutes to cook by which time the other 4 if us in the party would have either finished our meals or they would have been stone cold had we waited to eat with the fifth member of our party. However, as we were hungry we asked to order the remaining portion although I felt it appropriate to suggest they didn't charge us for this portion. The waitress checked with the chef who informed us we would be charged the full price. Poor show Harvey Arms. The cost of the dish to you would have been no more than a couple of pounds for cheap penne pasta and a bland, uninspiring tomato sauce. At this point we cancelled the remaining order. Poor show Harvey Arms. Poor customer service and this has rewarded you with a justifiable negative TripAdvisor review. I can't recommend you and won't be back I'm afraid

Super dog friendly and a great Sunday lunch. Very polite staff, not super cheap but can’t fault the food or service.

Went for lunch and left very disappointed.. Two of us ordered chef burger and at £17.00 expected something special but sadly not to be. First the chips where of very poor quality. Think I read hand cut but these could only have be machined as no one do then could have let the number of black eyes pass. More than a punch drunk boxer. They were also cold and looked and tasted unfinished as though they had be left out and forgotten. Heston need not worry about crisp triple cooked being challenged. The burger wasn’t nothing to write home about, bacon was ok but the melting Brie didn’t make the melt stage. The brioche bun had been griddled on the outside but not, as I would normally expect, the cut side. The token salad was over dressed. Burger was listed a chefs burger of the moment, well that moment had well passed and certainly not in the £17.00 class. One our party had scampi but said it was average and had the same chip problem. Another the pie which had a good filling but pastry was rubbery. Never were so many chips left. Did mention disappointment to the server and then to the chef but they seemed not to care. Perhaps they were concentrating on the wedding party that was starting to turn up but they should know that it’s getting the basic right that bring in such business.

Worst meal I have ever had.would have given 0 rating....had burger (passable),bacon looked like I was fried in black oil.hand cut chips had more eyes than a peacocks tail...never again.....

Four of us here for lunch Easter Saturday, not one good meal between us. Pastry on pie was rubbery, chips had more bad bits than good, the oil that the bacon, on the over cooked burgers, had been cooked in was old & full of black bits. The server was informed, no apology, just an "oh", the chef was informed, same response! Would not recommend or visit again.

We are not local to the area and was just looking for somewhere to eat after visiting the nearby zoo. We were very pleasantly surprised! The service was friendly, the pub very cosy and nice, and the food… OH WOW THE FOOD. I can’t think of a single time where every member of my family have all been satisfied at once and constantly saying how amazing the food was, even my picky and hard to please teen was talking about the food for days afterwards. I would recommend this place to eat to anyone!

Lovely pub, tasty food, nice beer and excellent customer service. The village of Finningley is very pretty, the pub is highly recommended and well worth a visit.

Myself and a family friend were booked in for lunch on Friday the 25th of June at 1pm,we found we were a little early for this booking so phoned to seee if we could book it for 12 midday,no problem .So we turned up just after 12 and was shown to a table straight away .My friend had the Pate and i had the Chicken Tenders for starters(both were very very nice )I had the Steak and Ale pie for mains and my friend had the Scampi which again were very delicious .Only about 4 other tables wee occupied and the service was impeccable (even Poppy enjoyed her dinner ,she is a King Charles Spaniel.]We will return when next we are in Doncaster or maybe get my brother over from Scunthorpe .Thank you once again .

Ordered a takeaway Sunday lunch for Valentine's Day. Delivered at agreed time. The lamb roast and vegetables were cooked perfectly. We had cauliflower cheese as an extra side (1 each). I was advised that one would be sufficient for two small portions and this was right, however for a larger helping one each worked! It was an excellent lunch, everything was faultless and plentiful. Will order again.

We ordered Sunday Dinner to be delivery today. Was not disappointed at all it came on time presented nice and very tasty we would definitely recommend it. We will certainly be ordering again .

Having waited for some time now to sample this experience, mainly restricted by lockdown and related matters, we decided to give it a go and it was well worth the wait. Fresh, plentiful, and very tasty with a very friendly warm reception when ordering and collecting. Thanks again, compliments to the Chef and see you again soon, cheers!

We enjoy the occasional evening meal at this local pub. The food is always good, and the front of house team always professional.It gets busy, and the kitchen team struggles to get food out in a timely manner, but if you are out with family and friends, and not in a rush, it's worth the wait.

Fabulous local pub we live it in here.Making the most of the 50% discount had a fabulous fillet steak with pepper sauce. Went back again last night my husband had a burger which he said was gorgeous my mum and son had the chicken curry which was also gorgeous and I had fish and chips which was superb. Everything was fresh hot and delicious. Will be back on Sunday for a roast.Love it xxx

I absolutely cannot understand the less favourable reviews, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have seen the Harvey change hands numerous times over 40 yrs. Been twice during reopening after lockdown and it has been marvellous on both occasions. I have a severely disabled Uncle and they could not have been more accommodating with his requirements. There was a lady sanitising all tables, there were hand sanitisers as u go in and as u go out. Tables were at least 2 mtrs apart. It is at seat service, u are not allowed to stand at the bar. One way system clearly displayed on entry and exit doors. The food was lovely. Salmon fillet, lasagne, prawn curry, and steak pie all delicious. Mushy peas excellent. Separate sauces, individual salt peer sachets. Puddings lovely too, Apple crumble, a raspberry frangipani all wonderful. Great family pub too, accommodate children, hi-chairs were sprayed before children sat in them. We are so lucky to have this pub near to us. The staff were young but so so polite. Would highly recommend. Five stars. Honestly l am not over egging it for a family pub with honest pub grub it is great.

Me and my partner visited the past Wednesday and were ultimately disappointed in our whole experience from both food to customer service. We both ordered a burger which was dry and overcooked with burnt bread. The staff were unwelcoming, and we were unable to get any attention to order more drinks, leaving us thirsty and dissatisfied. Only one member of staff wore PPE and those who brought our food had no form of PPE or adhere to social distancing. It is a shame as my partner has visited many times and has had pleasant experiences however my first time has been ruined and I do not intend on returning again.

We have now been three times to the Harvey Arms since Lockdown, first 2 Sunday lunch and tonight a meal on the 50% discount. This is our local pub and we are so pleased to be here again, the staff are working hard to make it feel safe and the food is wonderful as always. Booked a table of 6 and were squeezed in at opening and so glad we came. Keep up the good work looking forward to coming back again.

Never again. Not what it used to be. The food was not good and the beer very expensive. The atmosphere was not good and young lady who served us did not seem to know too much about the place.

This is the first time we have ventured out as a family since COVID. Absolutely disgusting! No social distancing- we were sat in a table in the middle of the room (like our own island)- with people walking all around is. Food nothing to write home about - even with “The Eat Out Gov contribution” (may need to confirm correct practices are being adhered too) Asked to speak to manager - “Oh, what a shame!” How does this help?! Didn’t want to speak to me and hid behind her staff - some of which were, ignorant and unless, not all. Don’t waste your time and money . Only one member of staff wore PPE the whole time we were there- the pleasant, bar staff lady. Incorrect order for drinks, it looks like a new landlord / lady has taken over - left fuming !

Live locally and always enjoy the food and ambience. Staff are really attentive and have to deal with a lot, especially awkward customers. Highly recommended

First time here for lunch with my parents what disappointment, my dad had fish & chips, the chips were overcooked & tasted awful, I had chicken curry & rice which was ok, my mum had mash & sausage they weren' the best sausages.Staff were very polite & efficient.

We arrived to an unlit bar, no welcome, and the place was cold. We were waved over to a table not shown and no menus were given to us. After a bit of a wait we went to get some ourselves. The table next to us was fully decorated for a Christmas meal all the other tables were bare other than cutlery. The decor was nice, the place was spotless but the room was cold. The food was quite nice but not outstanding in anyway. Saw plenty going back so portion control a bit to pot. It looks like a lovely pub that needs a bit of a kick up the backside and some staff training.

Visited as a family group, and wasn’t expecting much to be honest but everything ordered was excellent. Menu had some good options for seniors and children, and even a dogs menu... something I have never seen before. I chose one of the steak burgers with stilton, and it and the chips were lovely. Everyone seemed very happy with their food, but the service was a little slow as they had minimal staff on... but the girl behind the bar did a fantastic job keeping it all going. Would certainly be happy to eat there again, the pub certainly needed to raise its game after the refurb of the other village pub and it’s certainly getting there... keep going!

Really lovely local pub. Had several meals since moving to the village. We’ve had a roast which was excellent fed all family last week with gammon burgers and curries. Everything was spot on. Last night popped in with our son as we had eaten out at lunchtime so we could feed him he had the chicken curry. It was gorgeous full of chicken great flavours. The punk IPA is great.Friendly warm and very reasonably priced

Called in for lunch after hearing various reports about how good it is. We were glad we did. The interior is traditional, not wow like similar establishments are all aiming for now, but the important thing, the food was without fault. The lunch time menu included an option for senior citizens which mum ordered and the portions were still generous. Everything was hot tasty, and fresh. We had liver, bacon and mash served with a platter of veg and it was excellent. Followed by apple crumble , who can complain at well under £10? Pleasant guy behind the bar and a nice friendly atmosphere. Have to agree with a couple of other reviews though the heating could do with a tweak up!

The lunch was superb & plenty, also staff very attentive...a very clean restaurant and the ladies toilets were the same. I will be going again that's for sure...the bar staff were very helpful when asked for advice about their food and drinks menu.

Have been meaning to go to the Harvey Arms for years but today we went for the first time for Sunday lunch and it was everything I hoped it would be.

Sunday lunch in a cold room why not get heating going earlier, food lukewarm plenty of meat poor selection veg and why were 3of us given same amount of cauliflower cheese as a 1 ?

Very disapointed the place was freezing inside. My mum and dad orderd a fish platter warm when she fetched the plates they were dirty and freezing cold. My husband had fish and chips the fish was watery. It wasnt cheap and will no be going back.

Been twice in the last few weeks, although tonight it was the new menu. Scallops for starter was amazing and my steak burger was very nice. Excellent value as usual. I have heard on the grapevine it’s a new chef, well if it is he’s very good

The new menu is fantastic, also had a Sunday dinner there yesterday it was lovely, all staff are so welcoming and very helpful, I will be re visiting soon with family and friends.

Been to the Harvey arms for the first time for sunday lunch had the large and it was great value and wasn't waiting long to be served plenty of staff on and very polite would definitely recommend and will be going back again

Came here on a family day outing for dinner the staff were friendly and lovely and the food was 10/10 and more the best food I have ever tasted would definetely come here again and recommended it honestly the best meal I have ever tasted compliments to the chef.

We visited at 5.00pm as soon as they opened. Good selection of food and a specials board. At that time there was a two meals for £12 offer and this included a good selection of meals. We settled on liver, bacon, onions and mash accompanied by fresh vegetables, a lasagne with chips and salad, and scampi with chips and peas. Good quality food, pleasantly presented and served by friendly and helpful staff. Obviously good value for money at two for twelve.

Had a great time here, the food is excellent as was the service. The staff are friendly and efficient. Nice to find a place that is dog friendly. Will come again.

Called to our new local this evening for a meal out with our dog. The staff were so friendly they brought a water bowl for our dog, the food was perfect we had steak pie and the salmon. Can highly recommend this friendly pub for its great food and welcoming atmosphere

Visited on Friday the 15th June. My dad has just had a hip replacement so took him for his lunch. My son had fish and chips looked more like whale and chips. And it's was done to perfection . The rest of the meals were great. And the bar staff was very friendly. Will defently be back highly recommended.

I am really starting to like eating out in Yorkshire . Yet again I have been up to the Doncaster area on business and, with two colleagues, happened to be passing The Harvey Arms as we were driving to our Hotel near the airport. We dropped in and was hoping we could get a bite to eat - The pub was very traditional and friendly and menu looked fine but the specials board looked very inviting. We ordered our food and I ordered a "pork T-bone" with mash and vegetables - my colleagues ordered steaks but there were plenty of other things that were tempting. The food arrived after a while and it looked very presentable and appetising - the staff were friendly and helpful and were more than happy to fetch apple sauce and other requested condiments - the food was divine and hearty - the staff friendly and the service was very good. If you are looking for trendy food this is not the place for you but if you want hearty enjoyable food that is not meagre then I would certainly recommend

Friendly staff ,but food exceptionally small....steak very thin ,hardly any chips and sides ,very dissapointed with food ....The decor isn’t inviting it’s so old fashioned ,dark and drab ...went on reccomendation of Sunday carvery ,but won’t be going back to try it .

Visited today as party of 6 people thinking we were going for carveries. Disappointed initially to find roast dinners and limited menu only were on offer. The disappointment didn't last long when we were served with our meals. The roast dinners were superb and so were the steak pies and fish and chips. The desserts too were delicious, especially the frangipane tart. We had never been before but will definitely return. 10/10 for friendliness and service also.

Very impressive menu and specials. Really good quality food. The 2 for 12 quid menu is excellent. Large portions. Great real ale. Very friendly staff, very helpful with organising child's food first etc. Can't wait to try the beer garden now summer's made an appearance.

I'll keep it simple .... Good food , nice pub , BUT sadly lacking in the number of staff behind the bar either serving drinks or taking food orders . The food is good without a doubt, plenty of room between tables but sadly lacks...

Visited today with 7 members of my family and really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. All the main meals were lovely and hot and we did not have to wait too long at all. The deserts were all homemade and tasted lovely! Will definitely be going back xx

Habíamos estado en una copa antes y pareció que el menú parecía agradable, así que decidimos ir y probarlo. Fuimos un martes, así que era bastante tranquilo. El menú ofrece buenas opciones para niños y adultos y que todos disfrutamos mucho lo que seleccionados. El pastel de pescado era grande y muy sabroso, caliente! La torta de carne fueron un lujo y sólo estuvimos decepcionados que no tienen espacio para la muestra de la gran selección de la junta de postre. Los camareros y el personal del bar era muy amable y servicial - bien merece una visita.

Visitamos este lugar dos veces durante el fin de semana, una vez en un grupo de 9 el sábado a eso de las 5 y el otro como una familia de 3 el domingo la hora del té.

Fuimos forns comida familiar y acogedor es un pub con asientos en el interior y al aire libre. La comida muy buena, aunque limitado de comida, pero precios muy razonables. Ambiente maravilloso, aunque en 2 de 4 ocasiones que he ido han mezclado u olvidado mi comida, que al comer como grupo. molesto os.

Took our 5 year old plane spotting at Doncaster airport today and passed this pub on the way in. After about an hour the little ladybwas hungry so we went to the Harvey Arms to have some lunch. I am so pleased we did. We're not from the area but will be plane spotting again so Harvey Arms expect to see us soon. Lovely food with 2 adult meals for £12, good portions, home made chip = delicious! The little one had kids burger and chips then had 'kids' ice cream which came in the meal price. Her face lit up when she saw it was actually like a massive ice cream Sunday. The staff were really nice and you can tell the other diners were locals and regulars. Very clean and attractive pubs. The ladies are spotless, smell fresh and decorated well. The little one has asked if we can come again because she also gives 5 stars and to top off her day she say next to the window and plane spotted whilst eating her dinner. Thanks you to all the staff! Ate once before a few years ago and wasn't impressed. Decided to give it another go and was so glad we did. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. I had seafood platter and my husband had a burger topped with pulled pork and onion rings. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely return. Top marks .

After being served the wrong meal, had to wait for another while friends had their's, only to find that the Rump steak was so tough I could not cut through it even with a steak knife. Sent it back to the kitchen but after a 10 minute wait for my meal again while my friends had by this time finished their meals. I then told the waiter not to bother I would go without..It was stated by the waiter that there had been other complaints regarding the state of the steak and a gentleman on the next table had sent his back twice for the same reason. Will not be visiting The Harvey Arms again

We first tried the Harvey Arms May time 2016 and I left a good review. Been several times since, for evening tea and Sunday Lunch. Its still as good as the first time. Very reasonable prices and good portion sizes. The staff are always very friendly with quick service and child friendly too. Really is fantastic home cooked food. I often crave their steak and ale pie! The real fire places gives a lovely traditional village pub vibe. We also went for Bonfire Night and enjoyed a brilliant firework display. They've got a great play area and beer garden in the summer months. There are two really great village pubs in the local area. This is one of them. The other is in Auckley. If you after good honest tasty food and nice surroundings I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Called in this establishment by off chance, but we was very pleasantly surprised. Greeted by a open coal fire and friendly locals, next time I would love to go and try a Sunday lunch

Service, efficiency and friendliness of staff was first rate. The four main courses, two desserts and two coffees were good and to the standard we would expect from such an establishment. Full makes on an enjoyable experience.

Went for lunch lnitial feeling the place needs a refurb it was also very cold ate with coats on no one else was in there so it lacked atmosphere food very average gravy like glue

Having been last year for a similar Meal I am so disappointed with the experience we have had tonight.4 of our party did not arrive so we had to pay for their meals due to the short notice of cancellation. My understanding of paying a deposit for a pre booked meal was to cover such occurances however this us not the case. I asked for the meals to be placed in rake away containers if we were having to pay for them and was told that they didn't have any containers to do this however I did see a polystyrene box given to another customer to take leftovers away. Obviously the lack of containers were just for our use.Last year the food was excellent however I can not say the same tonight.3 of our party sent salmon back as it was over cooked and shrivled up.Christmas pudding dessert was very sparse portion. We sent 2 cheesecakes back because they had hairs in them to be informed by the landlady that the cook had informed her that it was the sinews from the vanilla pods.mas there was no evidence of vanilla seeds in the cheesecake I find it difficult to understand how they could be sinews. There were 4 professional cooks in our party who all agreed the same - definately not sinews.I'm really upset about the food and the lack of customer service from the landlady - the 2.other staff (waiters) were absolutely excellent and full of apology.I am not a happy diner and neither were the rest of the party. I will not be going to the Harvey arms again!

Disappointing. Not made welcome.Many items on the menu were not available Frequent visits to the bar to chase up food.5 out of 6 desserts served, but yet another chase up to get the sixth guests dessert and more chasing up to get the two coffees that were on order.Not sure whether to laugh or cry at the 'retro' trifles complete with 'squirty' cream.The ambiance of the pub changed when the bingo started, so they turned off the music in the whole of the pub so making it even more unfriendly.Plaintive cry fro the bar person about being on their own but not much gumption about solving, and shouldn't have been said to guests anyway. Can't use 'charming' in any sense in regard to this pub. Guess we won't be going back!
