5 came for birthday lunch. Excellent meal, good value for money and very friendly staff. This is the second time we have visited for a ladies that lunch date.

Staff are very friendly and the service was excellent, however the food has gone downhill since my last visit and leaves much to be desired for. The food is too complicated, the menu too large and unfortunately, because of Covid-19, the quality less than satisfactory. My chicken burger was dry, stuffed with unnecessary amounts of rocket and the once delectable chips on the side were over cooked, charred like darth vader and had an after taste that makes your soul part from your body. I won’t be coming back for food.

Came for a last minute anniversary meal on Sunday 9th August. Food was absolutely phenomenal and the service was even better. The waitress Leah was lovely and always smiled which is what you like to see during these uncertain times. Nothing was too much trouble. For something little and luxurious, I would highly recommend.

Went in here for lunch and ordered bar nibbles to share between 2 of us. Food was really nice and reasonable price for the amount we had! (We has bbq pulled pork, fish fingers, potato bravas, halloumi fries, bbq sausage and garlic bread). The waitress was really friendly and very attentive. Would go here again.

Called in here for a few drinks with a bird I have been seeing. Went in got a pint and a glass of plonk for her and sat talking. Barman was coughing into his hand and then without washing them handling the glass wear and drinks vessels.does this guy not watch the news,bad hygiene plus an internal clientele will help spread the current outbreak of coronavirus (wash hands is news advice) Needless to say we left and went to other pub

Dropped in early evening Saturday for a meal. Reasonable options for seating but the best seats reserved, got a bit of draught from the doors. Friendly staff, prompt service and good quality food. Very reasonable price.

It seems there is not a great deal of good places to eat in worksop town centre, so we gave this place try. Very pleasant staff and the menu wasn't to bad with a fair choice.. as per usual I went for a burger and the wife had a chicken salad with pesto. The burger was tasty and the chips very good my wife said the salad was quite bland and lacking flavour, the price was very reasonable aswell. If we ever venture to Worksop again we would definitely visit again.

Been here several times and the food seems better this time, but a bit too fancy, needs more vegetables. So our table had mixed opinions depending on what they ordered. My food was outstanding. But as always the service is a let down. Much improved vs last year, but still a tiny thing 'computer says no' approach, not human enough, can ruin a good meal. Similarly No eye contact or good wishes as leaving did not go unnoticed. Has the potential to be 4 or 5 stars.

A friend and myself called for a snack prior to our visit to see Downton..We both had the most delicious creamy Risotto..One of the best ive had for a while... The service was excellent..Our waitress extremely friendly and very professional.. The decor and ambiance of 114 Bar and Grill makes for a very pleasant evening..Thankyou to all the staff..

I decided to stop in to eat and it was easy enough to get table. It seemed possible that there were experience issues with some of the staff who were fighting the IT with orders, so taking the order was slow. It was a good meal (starter and steak) when it arrived. The only odd thing seemed to be that a side order of mushrooms seemed quite large, whould have been good for two people - I was trying to up the veg input!

Really, really pleased with the service and food we have received on our last few visits. Plenty on the menu without being overwhelmed. Burgers, sizzlers, salads, pizzas, baguettes and more. Reasonably priced and Worksop residents can get a card for a further 10% off. We will 100% be back soon.

Definitely worth a visit. Lovely food and lovely staff. Definately good value for money. The menu has just enough choice not to be overwhelmed, and gives reassurance its home cooked not bought in freezer stuff. The Sticky Toffee pudding was beautiful.

Food pretty basic, service slow and random. Musak to die to. Certainly real people but didn’t see any real ales. Hilarious that when we went to the bar we were told to order food from the other side where we were served by the same person!

The quality of Christmas (Sunday) Lunch was reasonable - once it arrived, that is! It took nearly 40 minutes for starters to arrive, and then a considerable delay before the main courses. Most of us did not have time to eat sweet courses - although ‘helpful’ waiting staff suggested that we might take our Eton Messes with us to eat in the cinema!

Had the haddock scotch egg as a starter and it was fantastic, great rich coloured yolk, cooked to perfection. Then had a s a main the Cumberland sausage with mash and fried onion side, tasted great and both at a low price, great food and nice setting.

Came here for lunch, the menu was good, lots of nice options and variety. However it took nearly an hour for our meal to be served (despite only 3 other tables in the restaurant!), after having to ask where our meal was after 40 minutes. The staff also came across unprofessional, talking about personal subjects whilst stood at the bar chatting between themselves.

Restraunt is part of Best Western Lion Hotel. Very pleasant, good service, good food. Frequented by several locals. Mostctables full around 6.30 pm.

The food was very good, very large portions though, I found myself leaving quite a lot as I was over faced, although my hubby managed to clear his plate.

I heard good things about this establishment & the food kept the end of the bargain up. We had Steak & Potato Pie it was to die for, the puff pastry was perfect & the filling was rich & full of flavor, plus the mushy peas & gravy were definitely up there with the best I’ve eaten. ( We also ordered triple cooked chips, yummy ! )

The menu says that the food is cooked to order and is worth the wait. It certainly took a long time, and was very tasty. A reasonable choice on the menu. You have to order at the bar. Not sure if the staff were a bit distracted by equipment replacements going on, but more "service with a snarl" than any friendliness.

I have stayed there various times over the last year and they don’t seem to learn from their mistakes. The rooms are pretty good, so is the food, but the young, inexperienced and often rude and completely ignorant staff let’s the whole place down. It’s a real shame, because it has so much potential.

We visited here as a group after a meal nearby. Drinks were reasonably priced (even though we were charged a different price for the same drinks each round - a difference of between £1-£4 each time?). Atmosphere was good and the toilets were clean. Service was a little on the slow side but it was busy and the staff were friendly enough.

Rude, inattentive, waitresses/bar staff, especially Leah & Danielle (deputy manager) Not helpful, would not split the bill saying ‘the manager said we can’t split the bill’. Would not take individual orders and tell the kitchen to tell them to bring them close together. Some serious customer service training is needed. Nick the waiter was pleasant - a saving grace for your staff.

Having been to the Lion hotel several times in the past and found the food and restaurant acceptable, I decided to re-book for a party of seven friends for my birthday treat, however this time we were allotted a table in 114 Bridge Street, which I believe is the restaurant normally used for lunches and none reserved walk ins.

Its a bit short on fresh vegetables, meat pie with no potato dish. The fish and chips are okay, but its all very avaerage.

I have had a pizza at this place a few times. Food has been of good quality and excellent value for money. Would recommend to anyone, especially fussy eaters as the menu is reasonably conservative with just about enough variety.

We booked a table when we checked into the hotel. Not many people in either the bar or the restaurant side. We sat at a table and saw it had a small sign that said something like "take note of table number and order at the bar" so my husband went up to the bar and asked for menus. There was a notice on the menu saying that Sunday Lunch was served until 9pm with a list of the different roasts available. I tried to order that, but was told that the Sunday Lunches weren't available. So, thinking that the shin of beef sounded the most similar to roast beef on the menu, I ordered that. My husband ordered a steak - and he was the smart one. After ordering at the bar, a young waitress came over pad in hand to take our order - when we showed her the notice about ordering at the bar, she took the notice away, but I noticed that she didn't take any of the others from the rest of the tables. The diet coke was the fountain type not from a bottle or can and it obviously either was a cheap substitute or was poorly mixed. So I ordered an alcoholic drink instead. The food arrived after about a 45 minute wait - we were about to leave when it finally arrived. My husbands steak was OK, but the "beef" that I ordered looked like a roll of black pudding! I managed to eat a few bites of it but it was awful - way too much salt in it (maybe it was supposed to be salt beef?) and the red cabbage and mash that came with it was not very good. The broccoli was OK. I left more than 3/4 of the food on my plate. I would not eat there again.

Thought we'd give this restaurant a try seen as though we were going to the cinema and it looked a decent establishment. We got there 2 waitresses stood chatting not even acknowledging the fact customers were walking in, so me and my partner asked how it worked and just got told to grab a drink and find a table nothing about how our food order was took or anything.

Been her a few times have to say the food is good & reasonable priced but the bar & waitress service is terrible experienced this every time they forget to clear tables , even when other people sit down they don't wipe the tables , to much chatting to each other need training it's not rocket science

Great bar for food. Attached to the hotel i believe.Staff friendly. Bar clean and great menu. Lost a star for having no cottage pie however my second choice of risotto was amazing and very well presented

Call here today for Sunday lunch , I've been coming here years with my wife but this will be our last I'm afraid. The beef on the Sunday lunch was so tough I had to spit it out on the plate . We were never asked how our meal was and it was obvious with all the meat left that plate that there was an issue. I told the waiter and he didn't care. When we told the barmaid we were told it's because they had an agency chef in. The Sunday lunches are very inconsistent in quality and at £10.50 each , this is unacceptable. The lion needs to up its game with other establishments near by. Sorry though , doubt we will be back

Staying at hotel had fish supper it was superb the batter on the fish was light /crispy/ tastey.The chips were fat homemade ones (horray) well presented and reasonable price. It would be a better place if the staff stopped talking about their private life huddled at the bar and actually looked like they wanted to serve you it lets the place down

Oh what's a place ! Clean and tidy. Lovely drinks and amazing service. So far the best place in Worksop to have a drinks and food. Will visit again !!!

Early evening meal out with family. Comfortable roomy dining area. Grea menu with plenty of vegetarian options. I did e mail in advance as I am also coeliac and need a gluten free diet. Only when I asked if I could take my own bread did they volunteer the information that they do have gluten free bread....That aside the four of us enjoyed a lovely meal, promptly served. My rissotto was delicious, my husband enjoyed his pizza afnd my brother's steak looked lovely too. Unfortunately when it came to dessert 3 of our party asked for Eton Mess, to be told they had run out. When I pointed out to the waitress that it was the only gluten free dessert on offer, she offered no comment and no alternative. So just coffee fo rme to finish then! In fairness for the quality of the food and the surroundings the price is very reasonable.

Tasty meal-mains and puds. Service ok. Pleasant surroundings. Leisurely tea with friends and we weren't hurried. I forgot to ask for my lamb to be well done and the chef cooked it a little longer. No prob.and no fuss. Delicious! As good as last visit and joined hotel's free Pride Club - discount card.

Excellent meal, the lamb was absolutely gorgeous best I've tasted in a long time , service good and the 15% discount makes it an even more enjoyable meal , definitely come again , even just for drinks lovely environment

Just popped in for a spot of lunch with my mum! Beautiful Prawn sandwiches with fresh salad and coleslaw, with triple cooked homemade chips! Which were gorgeous! Welcoming staff and a nice window seat table, watching the world go by! Would definitely recommend!

GF range very limited.No GF burger bun. Burgers have breadcrumbs in them! I was told, the breadcrumbs were used to bind them together... They did have GF bread so opted for a Marie Rose Prawn sandwich, the same as my non GF friend. So the order was, one GF MRose sandwich and one normal one.My friends came a sandwich, pot of coleslaw and tiny salad all served on a slate.Mine came - two slices of gf bread, a tiny hint of butter near the middle of the slice, dry prawns, salad and no coleslaw.When I enquired they took it away and eventually returned telling me that the chef had especially made me a Marie rose sauce without worcester sauce which apparently was the problem but the coleslaw was out as it was not gf and I was told 'there's nothing I can do about that.'If you are GF don't bother, all they do is look in a folder to check ingredients, but really they have no clue about GF diet. It's that old case of we cater for GF, but that means leaving off half the stuff listed. By the time it was all sorted I just wanted to eat and get out.

Visited on Friday night which we do regularly. Unbelievable slow service from both the bar service and waiting staff,they donot work the room to see if more drinks are wanted but spend thier time facing the bar with Thier backs to the restaurant waiting for a single barmaid to serve the restaurant and public bar,whilst the staff are charming they obviously need supervision and training The meal and drinks were generally good but again slow the chips arriving when we add all but finished

I got in for a family meal waited for 40 minutes and i had to go to ask somebody if there is any waiter/waitress to take our order and the answer was that there are no waiters ..horrible food huge waiting time.

Visited with another couple to catch up with each other.Nice meal. Meal could have been a bit warmer in areas. I.e. potatoes. But enjoyable

Really great food and great value. This is our second visit and we weren't disappointed. Just across from the cinema too making for a great night out. Could be even better if minor improvements were made. A little music, some candles and flowers on the tables and a few finishing touches would make this a really great restaurant to compliment the fantastic food and great service which could not have been better.

My husband and I called in to 114 Bar and Grill tonight and had a wonderful meal, beautifully presented and everything tasted so good, best meal we have had put in Worksop for a long time, we will definitely be back.

Went for food service terrible waited 20 mins for a drink (place was not busy ) ordered 2 steak and caramelised onion baguette which had one little piece of steak in each half of baguette and then filled with a soggy type of onion when we first complained to waitress she said that's how it come !!! Then when second waitress came to collect plates give the bill she asked was it ok when I said the same to her as first waitress she went to kitchen and came back with a reply of there nothing they can do now it been eaten !!!! I won't go back this place used to be good now service and food has gone down hill

Called in at lunchtime on Friday 23rd December. Not very busy! One person serving at the bar. Took so long! Tried his best but the manager should be sacked for putting him under this pressure. Ordered food - big mistake! Nearly an hour and only after I chased it. Yes, someone should be sacked. We won't rush back!!!! It was good there a year or two ago. Table service in place then too!!!??? What went wrong???

My partner and I visit here quite often and have always found it to be a lovely place. The food is plentiful and very well priced especially as we have a pride card that entitles us to 15% off the bill. The service is always top notch and the food always of a high standard. It's a gem of a place and we will definitely be back particularly as my partner loves the sweet potato and chick pea burger and he is very hard to please.

Called in tonight (7/12/16) for some tea with the wife and son. Had cottage pie and the lad had burger. Food was wonderful, cottage pie was so flavoursome. The three young girls on duty were so friendly and happy. Always get good service with a smile here and the food is always good.

Two of us ate lunch here today we had steak wrap and a cajun chicken wrap served with chips and salad. The wraps were very tasty and there was a good portion of chips. The food was served on a very narrow slate tile which was unsuitable as the salad just fell onto the table when we tried to eat it. Prices I would say are average for a pub lunch . The service was very good and all the staff were friendly and the restaurant also has a nice ambience. Would definitely go again when next in Worksop.

Urgent need for a small(ish!) lunch whilst visiting this town on a whim. Saw a meal on menu comprising "Cottage pie, with buttered savoy cabbage and Parmesan crisp". Couldn't resist. Boss went for a prawn sandwich on brown. Small salad garnish NO PEPPERS! (Allergy). All came just as hoped for and all consumed. I genuinely cannot remember a C.P. that was more flavoured, whilst not being well-seasoned. Oh, and not minced beef but small, super-tender, pieces of steak. Cabbage was inside the folded cheese crisp. Sandwich also superb; said the gaffer. Big compliments sent back to chef and tip as usual. Would try this again, even tho' Worksop not having a major shopping centre. Bar is part of the Best Western Lion Inn in Castle Street. I'm syure that you won't be disappointed Graham

Outstanding. Visited with limited knowledge of Worksop. Last time I visited I found it to be very run down. The 114 bar and grill is a gem amongst this. Totally suprised by the internal decor. Beautiful food. Friendly staff and a thoroughly enjoyable evening, night and morning.

Being a business woman travelling on her own (and on a Company budget) some hotel restaurants can be quite intimidating and the food below average. 114 Bar and Grill was a lovely modern restaurant with a relaxed ambience and the food was well above average. The waiting staff were very attentive and accommodated my dietary needs. The Sweet Potato and Chilli flake soup was piping hot and very tasty and the Steak was cooked to perfection. I would definitely eat here if I visit Worksop again.

Steak dinner first night then salmon the next both gorgeous and good choice of starters and mains x wine selection was ok and cocktails too x

The staff are always very attentive and friendly. We aren't regulars but I have noticed that Matt who is a waiter is really great with all the tables, he's obviously a natural when it comes to customer service. Everyone else are also really nice. The food is good, much better that what you would expect from a normal chain pub/restaurant. It's really good to have a place like this on our doorstep and we will make more of an effort to come more often in future. We both had salmon one with risotto and one as a normal main and it was enjoyable. The desert lemon posset was yummy. Looking forward to next time!

Driving through Worksop we were lucky enough to spot The 114 Bar and Grill. Excellent food, drinks and customer service. Thoughly recommend this hotel for food. I haven't stopped here for a night. The decor is excellent so I can suppose that the rest of the building is the same high standard and guality

Had steak for the second time which very disappointing as it was very fatty. But still a great place

The food was okay ,the only down side is with the buffet,my wife cannot walk very far and the buffet to the table is quite a distance for her.we where not given the option of anybody taking our order and serving it for us.

Chose to dine here whilst staying at The Best Western Hotel. The food was excellent, especially the steak,with Stilton sauce. The staff were friendly and pleasant at all times. Would highly recommend.

Very very rarely do we eat in the same place two days running but we did during our wonderful stay at the lion. Excellent meals on both occasions pleasing service by a young attentive staff and dare I say wanting to do their best. Hope to go back

We were cycling from York to Derby and had a he'll of a day on the second leg. We arrived late, knackered, bruised and fed up. The hotel staff were great, sorted our bikes, made us welcome and sympathised with us as ww climbed the endless stairs to our clean and welcoming room. We didn't eat in the evening as we were just too tired, but the bar staff were fine to let us blob in our cycling gear and just enjoy a beer. We were up at the crack of dawn for breakfast and it was excellent. Full English fuel for the day ahead. An excellent hotel for what we needed.

The staff sre very friendly and helpful. The restaurant menu is a bit limited and overstates its ability. Essentially ot offers good basic fare but tries to dress it up with sauces, descriptions and 'posh' ingredients but it doesn't have the kitchen to deliver this. The hotel is in a higher class than the restaurant, and I think it would be better if the restaurant accepted this and fave up its false pretensions to grandeur. The bar/restaurant could excel at good traditional pub fare and meals, and I am sure this would be acceptable to hotel patrons who aldo appreciate the excellent facilities offered in the accommodation

Visit this place regular and as always food is first class and staff are extremely friendly. Anything you need just ask and they will go out their way to do their very best for you.

It's great to have a young staff in a restaurant ... but if you hire young people, make sure they are competent, open to customers (also foreign customers, not just the usual guests) and friendly. These are qualities I did not find with the people who served my beer and my food, that, by the way, was very tasteless.

A nice place with pleasant décor and attentive (if not strangely coiffured servers) the menu does not immediately jump out at you as anything special although the food is well cooked. Unfortunately I could not recommend this for any special occasion, but more if you want something to eat rather than to impress.

Lovely food on our visit, the meals tasted excellent (burger, steak sandwich and pasta). However the service was very poor especially when we were left sat with our empty plates while waiting for them to be cleared. We were never checked on to see if our food was ok or if anything else was needed, our plates were never cleared. In the end after waiting for 20 minutes we decided to get the bill and go. Was very disappointed as we all enjoyed the meal and was going to order deserts however we were never offered or even asked about looking at the deserts menu therefore left feeling very annoyed as the place was not busy as we were the only table dinning as well. Would hope the service is much quicker and more enthusiastic if we were to return again.

We had the baked Brie starter which was really good and the garlic mushrooms as starters ( I do not recall better garlic mushrooms in my 50+ years)As mains we had the liver which was moist and tender and the rump with a pepper sauce which was really tasty with a lot of flavour.All of the staff was really effective and very friendly and did their best to make sure we had a good time. A very enjoyable evening !

Menu to suit all tastes with a good range for all courses. At last a restaurant which offers a traditional roast on a Sunday evening . Good friendly service provided. Ashley in particular was very attentive and a credit to the premises.

Having eaten substantially earlier in the day (Sunday) we just needed a light meal in the evening. We chose to share a tuna sandwich and a drink. The ordering process was fine, service good, but we did feel that the sandwich itself was very ordinary. The filling was just adequate but the bread was disappointing.All else was fine; the area clean and, being a Sunday evening, it was relatively quiet. The European soccer was on the large tv at the end of the room and the few people in were either watching or sitting eating.As we were staying in the hotel it was very convenient to sign for our purchases and retire upstairs when we were ready. It is difficult assess the kitchen based on our experience but I would happily return there if the opportunity arose..

Popped in for a quick lunch last Saturday, we were really pleased with the quality of food and service. We chose a build your own starter platter which was well presented and delicious. Good wine. Lovely break to the day, we will definitely go again.

This is not the first time I have visited over the past month and the same thing has happened, certain staff are very unprofessional and inattentive. Visited today for dinner, older lady behind the bar very rude and not customer friendly! After being seated a while it was clear no one was making any attempt to come to us despite being aware we were there. I went to the bar to order and was advised to sit down and she would take our food order. She didn't and come just after 4pm herself and another colleague ran away from the bar laughing at it being busy, and had still not come over to take our food order (I am in doubt that us wanting to order was not passed on to staff). I had to go to the bar to order as a wedding party came in and there was 1 member of staff, she couldn't have left the bar to take our order as informed as it was extremely busy. Even a member of the wedding party commented that the young girl behind the bar was on her own, answering the phone and trying to serve!! It's not as if the hotel wasn't aware there was going to be a wedding and potentially become busy...Absolutely appalled at this service. As I said before this is not the first time this type of service has been received here, this and the lady who said she would come to us does not make us want to return to receive this level of service

Food was really good, beer was good too not just fosters and carling but a couple of craft beers and premium lagers. The recent revamp has been a real success too.
