**** Disappointing ****. Although the food was good, and certainly there were dishes we had not had before, the portions were small compared to any other Indian we have had before elsewhere. There was absolutely no atmosphere with one couple leaving as we went in and no-one else in there at all. The music was a radio station with constant annoying adverts, rather than something that you would expect of an Indian restaurant. Worse thing was that we were charged £7 more than the menu prices on their website. . . . phoned up afterwards and they said that the website needed updating. I have insisted on a refund but apparently the manager cannot do this over the phone so am waiting for the owner to contact me. Cost was £47 for one curry, one biryani, one rice and one side! **** Avoid like the plague. . . .****

A busy Saturday but long wait for food. Mains delicious, expect £2 extra to eat at a cramped table and expensive cup of tea. Cakes at £3.20 for a 2 inch traybake square. Do not buy an apricot square it was tasteless. Manageress very abrupt with new member of staff.

We've been to this restaurant several times and always enjoy the food very much. It arrives quickly and is freshly cooked, lovely flavours and friendly waiting staff. One of our favourite restaurants that we will return to again and again. Thre restaurant looks lovely inside. We notice lots of takeaways going out of the door so I think many others appreciate them too!

Sylhet used to be exceptional, but it seems as though they have rebranded and decided to go with a new aesthetic. It isn't working. My chicken curry was sweet, really sweet, served with a very hard-boiled egg on top. It made me feel nauseous: sickly sweet curry with chicken and egg! Other curries had a lot of food colouring -- far too much. They don't have a drinks licence, so we ordered water. The service was slow, though the server was very friendly and smiley. I won't be returning again unless they revert to the way they used to be.

Had a takeaway this evening and it was awful. We have had food from this restaurant before and it was always nice so decided to have a treat for my 73rd birthday. I had a king prawn butterfly and it was totally tasteless and stale, followed by lamb passanda and god knows what happened there , lamb no flavour and not as tender as it used to be and the passanda sauce horrid. Not to mention the saag paneer which looked like a green mess. I’ve never had an Indian meal this bad before. I am so disappointed as the food from here was always great until now. Hubby had Raj special Biryani and the veg curry that came with it was a pot of oil and no taste to the main Biryani

From the welcome when we arrived to the moment we left, the customer service was excellent. Our dinner was exceptionally delicious, prawn Balti to die for and chicken tikka both hit the spot. I’d highly recommend a visit so you too can have a pleasant evening with genuinely helpful staff serving delicious dishes.

Just had a takeaway from here and if you like Thai do not order as will disappoint you massively and if you have never tried Thai do not get from here as it does not represent what Thai food can be. Really not worth the £60 spent! Khao Yai you can do better! Will not be using again!

Had dinner with my girlfriend last Saturday night, always met with a warm welcome by all the staff, the service was excellent and the food amazing as always. I would Highley recommend The Bengal to everyone as this is a real hidden gem.

Very good food and taste authentic, they can also change the spice level depending on your tolerance.i would recommend as it has a bit of everything for every one. This is my regular treat. Also for the rest of the month (February) from Monday till Thursday, they have a deal where if you spend £30 gbp you get 25% off your order! The people that own it also are very nice and have banter with their customers! Would recommend to anyone looking for a good meal and good price from good people!
